  • Live bait is always one of my favorite ways to fish. Sometimes it's the only way I fish. On this day it produced some nice fish when we used it as a second option to the mirro mr17

    Thanks so much for your videos. Just found them and been watching like crazy. (Broke my leg and been laid up) We just moved in to the area and live on a creek off of Adam’s Creek. Been trying to “crack the code” on catching fish. Looking forward to putting some of your teachings in to practice. You are great at getting specific on techniques, and more importantly “the why” behind what you are doing or thinking. You ever need a break for lunch when you are in the area you are welcome!

      Tim, that's kinda funny, I'm laid up right now too after some surgery. Thanks for stopping by the channel, glad you've found it useful. I don't get down your way much but I wish you a speedy recovery!

    I've always wanted to chunk some live bait out in late winter. Guess I'd have to go get some big shiners.

      Shiners actually work really well in winter for trout. I'll often float one out the back while I'm casting mirros and forget about it tell I see rod bending over.

    Have enjoyed your videos, tremendously! You keep them (videos) about fishing info, and have good camera angles. Thank you!

      Kind of you to say Stuart, and I appreciate it because I do make efforts to be original and always creative in my filming approach. You'd be surprised how many trips I discard the footage because I don't like the video quality. Thank you

      @@haltysalty7537 "Salty"... I will be 81 next month, and remember fishing at a very young age with my Dad for trout, whether speckled or grey and big croakers. The location was Wade's Point and that was in the late '40's, but my point is that I have fished and continue to fish for the mighty speck. I love striper or "rock" fishing and wished a moratorium had been place on them in the '70's in order to have a better population now. They are my two favorites, and everytime you pull one in the boat, those "specks" or stripes glistening, red cold fingers holding them and probably a dripping nose It brings back beautiful times that I've had and do have when I go east. Congratulations for your love of fishing and helping others to carry-on the thrill of the thump and tug of a yellow, snaggled tooth mouth. You do a great, great job!

    Where do you find mullet in the winter??

    • @haltysalty7537
      @haltysalty7537  6 месяцев назад

      Currently, if I'm not mistaken, they are illegal to catch in NC. At the time of this video, these mullet were caught on the OBX. Live bait is difficult to find in the winter

      We bumped around alot, fish were not concentrated in any one area. That 5-6ft depth of water seemed to be where they were holding.

      What’s the salinity like in that river? It looks like it would be brackish
