    Great idea. Ive been using a variation of the Carolina rig for catfish here on the Yadkin. Eagle claw makes a quick change slider thats made of nylon with a clip to hook different weight and shapes. So far, it hasnt chaffed the braid yet. Just food for thought.

      Yep, we call those fish finder rigs, not sure why they are called that, but I use them from time to time and they would certainly be an equal substitute here. Although not quite as streamline for casting, but I agree they work well. They are popular for surf fishing on the coast. Thank you for the comment.

      @@haltysalty7537 I read something recently about the sliders being called a fish finder rig. Up to that point, I always heard the high/low rig called a fish finder or chicken rig. Either way, they all seem to have their good and bad. I'm hoping to get back out to et some saltwater fishing in soon. Why not just tie the braid directly to the top barrel swivel? In other words...braid to barrel swivel to fluoro (slide weight) to barrel swivel to fluoro to hook? I feel like there is a good reason that I'm just not wrapping my head around.

    • @haltysalty7537
      @haltysalty7537 Месяц назад

      Good question! I actually asked Ben the same question and what he said made since to me. It's two part- 1. The double uni knot (braid to leader) and then leader to first barrel swivel, is less likely to break or pull loose than braid to swivel. 2. Braid tied directly to swivel has a tendency to twist up and tangle, which I have experienced many times myself. To me, the second reason is the more important one. Thanks for the question.

      @@haltysalty7537both reasons make sense. But I'm with you on #2. Braided line loves to fold or flip over on swivels, popping corks, etc. if there isn't a piece of flouro or mono between them. That piece of mono is also better to hold than braid when you hook an over slot or bull drum and want to release them in the water. Thanks for another great video! You always do 'em right!👍👍

    Isn't it illegal to use a drone to spot fish and fish them in the same day in North Carolina?

    • @haltysalty7537
      @haltysalty7537 2 месяца назад

      North Carolina law (G.S. 14-401.24) states that it is a class 1 misdemeanor to fish with an unmanned aircraft system (a drone). However, it also specifically states that using the drone for "spotting, locating, recording, broadcasting, or streaming video of fish" or "deploying bait" is an exception to this.

The circle hook sinks in immediately and typically will not come loose.
