Hey Guys It's Joel!
My Friend Ben bought an E89 BMW Z4 35iS. Currently the 'top of the range' Z4, the 35iS packs an impressive 340bhp!
Incredibly, Ben was more than happy to let me have a go. In this video, inspired by The Smoking Tyre's 'One Take' videos, I give you my first impressions of the BMW Z4 35iS from behind the wheel!

41 dislikes WTF!? I personally see nothing wrong with using someone else's video format, seeing as you have mentioned the Smoking Tire in your video. People on RUclips these days are so quick to judge and not appreciate the effort that's been put into making this. That opening sequence was pure bliss imo! Don't worry about the dislikes mate, I thought the video was epic!

Amazing car. Was tossing up between getting this or an M3 but this looks like wayyy more fun. Honestly it looks better than an M3 too, and those crackles and pops are just so so good. Great video lads, thanks for sharing just how awesome this car is

Last month I found a 2012 Z4 E89 35i M-Sport that only had 7,000 miles. It was only driven occasionally on nice weekends and always garaged...in fact it had never seen the rain. I just had to buy it. Very fun car.
Nice one, I really enjoyed driving it. It is a brilliant car, especially for the money.
I didn't think much of this 35is before. Until I drove today. Wtf...it's a demon in disguise. Ballistic speed and the shifts are blistering fast! How the fcuk this car is so underated!?

It’s the B4494 Wantage to Newbury Road. It’s a favourite with bikers and Sports cars fans (and I get to drive/ride it nearly everyday!!). I ought to get some footage of my old Z4 👍

Shame that you got the hate because of the title. The video is well made and the car is great. I'm sure you'll get more views and some good feedback on your future videos if the quality stays the same or gets even better. By the way, you should move or make the other shot that shows your face a bit smaller. It's blocking the view of the road.

You also get a bunch of looks in this car. It's rare and people aren't used to it. I've noticed valets will park it at the front ahead of Porsches, Maserstis and other far more expensive cars.

I own same car Z4 35is. It’s a thrill driving this car on an open road with the top down. The looks you get is unending. You could have shown us the dashboard to see how fast you were driving 🤣 also using the - & + paddles and the gear knob shifts. Thanks

Have you tried to place this Z4 against the Z4 M Roadster? I believe it's the same BHP except the roadster is a manual.

It’s a tricky one to answer! After driving the 35iS I would lean away from the Z4M - but I still haven’t driven an M & your money is definitely safer in an M too
I have the same car. Switched form the RFT tires to Pilot 4S and it took it down to 4.2 to 60. The RFTs were killing the speed with poor traction and a crap load of unsprung weight.
That’s mad that it made such a difference! I switched my RFTs to Goodyear’s on my E85 and it made a big difference too.
Yup, I never spin wheels now.
Crazy how much extra they cost too.
Forgot to mention, the very light steering is a feature is sports plus mode. I have no idea why.
Comfort steering is actually the heaviest and feels great. Sport is a good balance. Sports plus feels totally off.
Ah wish I knew that at the time! That’s seems ridiculous that they’ve done the steering that way round! It honestly handles a little bit like a Porsche 911, except you don’t actually have the weight at the back ...
It's Joel I see exactly what you mean there, although fast enough around a corner and you'll notice the difference.
When I think about it, it's likely the normal and sport steering is adaptive and tightens up at speed, where as the Sport + is a constant amount of tension, thereby it simply feels lighter at high speed.
Yeah, without that extra downforce, it’s not gonna end well! Would love to drive it again now so I could play around with the setting a bit more!
PS> You don't need that key in the slot if you don't want to.....The "s" had a lot of small upgrades not to mention the 1M engine...

I'm just worried how much the extra weight (about 250kg) and size affect the handling on very twisty roads. Like the look of them but wonder if my old model suits me better.
The handling was actually great. The main issue I had with it was how light the steering was and delayed throttle response. The older models definitely give a more immersive experience.
Good looking car, but only with a proper gearbox, not awful paddles.
If you had to pick between this and a z4 m what would be your pick im in the us and the z4m will hold its value more

1. I would be thankful if you could answer my question.
2. I didn't spend the full time for your video using double playback speed after the first minutes.
3. I left a comment to give you an explanation for the high percentage of negative evaluations and a hint what you should improve in order to avoid that.

The reason for the proportionately high number of dislikes on this video in particular is because it was originally called “one take” Matt Farah from the RUclips channel “The Smoking Tire” called me out and told his fans to dislike the video. I think it got about 70 dislikes on day one and has barely had any since, apart from yours I presume? I’m always happy to listen to constructive criticism, but perhaps from people that have watched the whole video! Your comment wasn’t criticism as it was entirely subjective and just rude.

Many more people enjoyed this video then didn’t. This video is around 7 months old now anyway, you should see some of my other content which is more focused on the cars, perhaps you’d prefer that.
