if your woman gives you grief for wanting to buying this car, trade her in for it
😂😂😂
Or be a real woman like me and own one 😊😊😊😊😊
We need more real women like you!
Your girlfriend would love it, im sure 99%. Wife could be problematic if you can't afford having family car and toy car.
@ XD I'm dead
Lol I turn around and look at mine too. My favourite is that fine looking rear end.
There’s always a different angle to look at!
Kinsta89 it has a rear dope ass that’s for sure
Couldn't agree more.
I got that feeling with my gt86, always looking back. Sold it and now I regret it 😢😭
Yep. I drive a 328i coupe...and it's 'nice'.
I saw a Z4 in the parking lot of a local store...beautiful!
The owner was just unlocking the car door and he saw me admiring it.
He was so proud of it...he gave me a 5 minute tour!
He let me sit in the driver seat...showed all the controls.
I thanked him and we said good bye.
Looking back... I hope it was his car!
I'm 61 and have had 2 z3s and now a e85 z4 ...... love it with roof down and Clapton full volume 😊
Crossroads... .no doubt :)
After doing my research and watching all your z4 videos, I picked up an 06 3.0si with 50k miles two weeks ago. Love it. Thanks for all the information. The z4 is in very high demand here in the southeastern U.S. with the 60+ crowd. Prices are rising and zeds (06-08) under $13,000 are hard to come by. Nothing stays on the market for much more than a week.
Awesome, I hope you enjoy it Richard. Thank you for watching the videos on the channel!
I just bought a Z4 3.0i with only 70'000km on the clock last week to be picked up this weekend. Just what I have been looking for sporty with a great sound when you want to take it for a run but a quiet cruiser on the freeway. The car looked good back when it was released first but is still a stunner today especially the rear end. The Swiss alps are calling!! Love the video.
Hilarious that you mentioned turning around and just looking at your car. I did exactly that with my Z4 earlier today. It’s just a damn beautiful car! 😂😂
Bought a Z4 3.0 3 weeks ago and it's just massively fun to drive down the road with it. Thanks for helping me with the desicion with all your videos to buy one :)
Keep going with that awesome work
Greetings from Germany
Glad you’re enjoying it mate - no problem at all, thank you for watching!
Any problems ?
@@oscaralejandro3228 nope :)
@@sigmundreiner3483 that’s good to hear ! What year is it ? Are you planning on selling yours by any chance 🤔lol
The Z4 is truly a classic. I have had an '03 3.0i Z4 and it is the the best 2 seater I have ever driven. It is more powerful than a stock miata or s2000 and lighter than the 350z. It also doesn't burn oil or break down nearly as much as the Audi TT. The engine is a bulletproof m54. The Achilles heel is the flimsy plastic DISA valve. You can replace the plastic part with a metal one and it is fairly easy to do. Other than that, keep up with regular fluid changes and some rubber hose replacements and you are done. This thing is truly a beast.
Basic S2000 faster n better then basic 2.5 bmw
M54 bullet proof...
LOL good one
@@dantheman1337 Yeah, it is a good one. One of the most reliable engines they’ve ever made.
Back in 2010, bought a 2003 3.0 6-speed stick, with sport package. It still brings a smile to my face every time I hear that straight six rev.
Just bought an 08 Z4 3.0 E85 and have been having so much fun with it. Did a bit of research before I bought it but since getting it I've just been reading up on everything. Came across your channel trying to learn more and I really like your videos. You're reinforcing my decision so good on ya m8!
Thank you my friend, appreciate it! Congrats on your purchase :)
It’s so funny that my wife pretty much said all of those things and I bought mine anyway. We have 5 kids but we have a minivan. I told her it’s a good way to tell the kids they have to stay at home and go to dinner.🤣. I love my Z4 gonna keep it for a long time. Great video thanks.
The production for this video is wicked mate well done!
I appreciate you, thanks!
Just bought a 3.0 Z4. Fabulous Motor. I just watched the Hamster Vid on the Z4 review. Entertaining of course, but fairly useless. This vid, Joel is better X 1000. Good luck to you feller, you do fine job!
Thanks Stephen!
You're welcome buddy
I used to have a Mazda miata,I sold it because I had young children and a job that required me to carry a lot .I now own a very large Ford F 150 that is loaded and carries kayaks etc. I am in my 4th successful year of Real Estate and this is going to be my Real estate car.I will be buying in the spring as long as I keep my numbers up.
I will need to keep my truck though.
That’s cool man! I was in the US a couple of weeks ago, and loved seeing all the big trucks - especially the F250 haha! Wish I could have one over here ...

Great video.
Nice to see someone who also enjoys the Z. To me it is one of the last true driving experiences from BMW. I sold my E92 M3 earlier this year because I needed to go reduce the number of cars in the garage. It was an easy choice. Drive the M3 to its potential and the local constabulary are waiting. In the Z4, they wave and smile - it is so much fn to drive at legal speeds.
I have had a 2004 3.0 6 speedZ4 since new. I really enjoy the car. Replacing the steering wheel and shift knob with the M version - it is really nice.
The cup holders are pants. I agree about the stock Bridgestone RFT tyres. I have Michelin Pilot Sport 18" and they are better but I do agree about going to non RFT.
I am 6'1" and headroom is not a problem.
In the boot I have room for a suitcase, briefcase and golf clubs.
Tame driving on secondary roads yields 42 mpg.
If I had to buy a BMW, the Z4 would be it.
(but I have 3 better cars in my garage right now.)
these are such great cars I really don't understand why they don't get more love. Last BMW a diy guy can handle most everything with ease. Engine is really easy to get to all around. No huge tech/turbo's etc. and still really really fun to drive. Great reliability, performance and mpg. Great car if you are looking for some two-seater fun.
I bought a 07 z4 coup last year. needed to replace a spark plug and it was super simple. Needed to replace a parking light, not super easy. I usually do my own oil changes but can on this one as i cant get a jack under it. Over all though, this car will be a favorite of anyone who enjoys driving. Its a pleasure to own and hasn't cost me much. its relatively cheap considering i owned 2 mustangs before. Im in love with my car and its a real looker.
found a really gorgeous one for 5k, 113k miles, was looking at a porsche boxster but this z4 is just. WOW.
have u had any problems with it? i was thinking of buying one with 100k miles but i feel like it will give me problems

Great video. I’ve had my Z4 just over a year now & still love it just as much today as I did when I drove it for the 1st time!!
Unfortunately my motor went on my roof recently however unlike some of the comments below you don’t actually need to take the whole roof off to access it, just slightly. Where it sits it fills with water so as you said it’s a common fault. I found a guy online who specialises in bmw roof issues (Alan from Bristol who advertises on gumtree & he was a legend) who replaced the motor & rehoused it in the boot (keeping it dry & easy to get to) for just over £300. Most garages charge £900+ so if you do start having issues there are easy ( and much cheaper) ways to fix if you do your research. Took 3 hours to sort & works perfectly again.
Thanks for watching and taking the time to write this comment mate. It just happened to my Dad’s Z4 and he found someone like Alan who also did exactly that for £300 - better than taking it to BMW!
It's better than 2019 new Z4.
This Z4 is so beautiful.

How old is it this z4?
@@ΤεοΒορ How old do you think it is, in your humble opinion? just guess.
5?
@@ΤεοΒορ triple that. It's a15 going on 16 years old.
I’m 6’1 it’s still roomy enough for me, and storage is rather on the small side, I have 2 subwoofers in the boot which is fun but it’s not a practical car, but the oil is nearly 7 quarts, but I do it every 5 thousand miles. The Z4 puts a smile on my face when I give the beans.
Bryan R. Thank you I was wondering about leg room being tall limits a lot of my choices in cars like this
Hi Joel, You encouraged me to do this. 1. Purchased a 2006 Z4 - amazing. 2. I decided to set up a straight through exhaust (after 5 years) - OMG. She talks to be everyday we are out. Brilliant. Thanks for all you advice. Cheers, John, from Northland, New Zealand.
That's why I own three!
3.0Si...Z4M...And Alpina Roadster S! 🙂
You lucky person! 👌🏻
Cool. I love the Z4M. That’s a classic in the making, no?
Jonathan Reed I certainly hope so. That's the main reason I bought the Z4M and the Alpina...which I bought on consecutive days! 🤣 But realistically (in the "real world") the 3.0Si is the nicest to drive of the bunch.
Find it so interesting that people say the 3.0si is the best to drive! Maybe I should buy one 🧐
Wow! How can you describe the difference between z4m and Alpina version?
I've got a Z4 Coupe, had it 6 years and still love it
Got a 09 plate 2.5L Z4, absolutely love it, pretty much agree with everything you said here especially the amount of oil it burns through, only difference with mine is a hard top electric roof means I have only half the boot space than a soft top due to the mechanism which does make mine rather impractical sometimes. Affordability really surprised me, never thought I would be able to afford something like this until I saw the prices they were going for. All in all, I completely love it for what it is and its cost. I'll be keeping mine for as long as I can.
do you have a E89 or a E85? the E89 is way more expensive the older E85 is twice or thrice as cheap so I don't know what you mean with your 09 Z4 being cheap, if it's from the E89 generation, it's definitely not cheap.
Hi Joel. I just bought a 2.5i Z4 week ago and its absolutely amazing... JUST LOVE IT. It always was my dream car.. and now i have one ;-) THIS VIDEO MADE ME FOLLOW MY DREAM
Hello from across the pond...awesome video!!!...as of last week i am a proud new owner of a z4 3.0 and i couldn't agree more. It is such a fun vehicle...i really enjoy your videos, keep up the great content!
Hey from the UK! Thanks for watching mate, I’m glad you’re loving the Z4!
I've had mine for about 7 months now, the 3.0i manual. Awesome car, it is my daily.
Great vid, i had both the E85 & E86 Z4 and absolutely loved them both and they're greatly missed, regarding the cup holders they can be easily retrofitted which i did in my E85, i'm 6'2" and had no issues with headroom. proud to have owned such a fantastic car. future classic.
Very nice car Joel. While we mainly drive an Infiniti SUV; 9 months ago we also picked up a black low mileage 2008 Z4 3.0i with a 6-speed. It now only has 12,500 miles (just over 20,000 kms). We were quite fortunate to pick up this well maintained, garage kept Z4. In Southwest Florida, convertible tops are down all year around. Outstanding value and lots of fun as long as you have another vehicle for hauling people and groceries. It hard to find more car for the money. Keep making great videos...
Thanks for watching Barry, sounds like you got yourself a great deal!
Another good video! I bought my first Z4 last month and am so glad I took the plunge. I agree, they're not THE best looking car (mainly because of the headlights, for me) but I bought it for the 3.0 straight six and the RWD. Loving upgrading it and working on it - so easy! Glad you still have yours - your videos really spurred me on to get one :)
Awesome dude - thank you so much for watching, glad you’re loving the Z4!
I do like the "Bangle" look. The newer version looks bland.
I have one and it is available as it was stored for the last two years as I worked overseas. Can say Joel is spot on, and this would push the Boxster very far and to own equally is a refined thing of beauty.
Love it Joel :) I'm six foot two and just lower the seat when I get in, there's loads of headroom then. Great video mate, your production quality is becoming a thing of legend!
Thanks Mike!
How long have you had the car and what power are you pushing, what are the challenges, the regrets, what are the running, maintenance cost etc.
Fantastic car, the E85 was my first Z4 experience and it got me totally hooked, I'm now on my third Z4 and currently have a white E89.... Love em!
what happened to the 1st, 2nd ones? what are your experience throughout your ownership?
The oil consumption can be fixed by installing an oil catch can. Lots of videos and how tos on youtube. Ive done one on my 02 z3 coupe m54 3.0. Huge difference. NO oil consumption now.
Also have a 07 z4 3.0si n52. They are great cars. Great Video Joel!
How does installing an oil catch can stop oil consumption?
Couple of years ago i owned a 3.0. Really nice car, pretty fast, good fun to drive at 3 series running cost
Good informative video. I had a 2006 3.0si for several years (it sat over winter) and really enjoyed it. Sufficient power for me, loads of fun to drive. I didn’t have the oil consumption ‘problem’ but wholeheartedly agree with the tires and tracking on some road surfaces. I’m not a fan of the power steering, it feels too disconnected for a roadster. I wouldn’t hesitate buying another some day when garage space allows. Oh, go with the standard shift - a car like this needs to be shifted by the driver.
Great work Joel.. I'm looking at one on Friday in Cardiff.. was going to go for the 2.0 but hearing that engine on yours I've changed my mind haha.. the one on Friday is a 3.0ltr 👍.. watching the clip has made my mind up before I've even driven it!!!
Top job mate..
haha funny thing is all my family is saying "don't buy, stupid purchase, costs will be high, pertrol will be expensive, etc etc" but having what I have seen and read about these. it's pretty cost efficient but I'm not believed from the women in my family -___-
Just bought a 2.5 Z4 it's lovely to drive, thanks for helping me with desision.
My pleasure!
Got dumped and kept the z4 #storyofmylife
I experienced “tram-lining” you spoke about running on the OEM Bridgestones. Now on my second set of run-flat Pilot Super Sports. Much quieter, less harsh than the Bridgestones, fantastic grip. I got 34,000 miles out of the first set.
I’m 6’ 4” and fit pretty well with the seat reclined. Love the car, so much fun to drive! If you’re thinking about buying one, try to get the 3.0i, not the 2.4.
hm thinking of buying a z4, same height, was wondering if it will be ok with space above the head
How about 2.5
I'm 60 yrs old, and in love with this Z4 looks. This 2024, I will buy a well maintained one for myself...I have to, it's a cheep eye catcher..
I was thinking of getting one now I really want it
DO IT.
Considering myself buying a Z4 as my First car. Thanks for your Video ♥️
Great video Joel, from a fellow z4 driver. Keep up the good work!
Thank you!
I keep watching this from time to time.. just to remember why I love the Z4
I'm 6'4" and test drove one with my GF, and the headroom was actually great. I was surprised.
Awesome!
Thanks Joel enjoyed your video and I am enjoying my ride too!! Mine is also a 2004 in mint condition too!! My doggie loves driving in it too. When I take him out I say Nikita what car do you want to go in today and he goes right to the Z4 , so cute!!! Have a great day!!
Nice video, agreed on every point you made. Especially about the tires: changing the runflats was the best decision I made!
Thank you mate. Yes changing from the run flats is a must!
Hey Joel ! If you look under your air vents on the far left and right of the dashboard is a black piece of rectangular plastic that when you depress and release it a cupholder will magically appear !! 😅

Awesome Mark, yes it probably is a little sharper! I’m still yet to see for myself, think the coupe is the only variant I haven’t driven now!
Loving my 2.5, taking the twisty way home with the roof down all the time. Wish it had a bit more space to store things like sunglasses and water bottles in the cabin. Z3 is more fun in the twisties but Z4 is way better as an all rounder.

@@surgeknight5725 straight 6, one of my best friends just bought one yesterday. for the km i've done with it, very nice car. Very nice engine, awesome pull from 4500rpm, but also versatile: 3rd gear will let you drive in heavy traffic as well as overtaking at freeway speeds.

@Adam Woodford may bad things happen to you
Well now i got them both
E89 and e85.. in total i had four z‘s
And i loved all of them
What could you be possibly doing with an E89 and a E85? why keep both, isn't the E89 more modern and better? and why four of the same cars? what's wrong with you? don't know what to do with money? do you know there are folks who wish they had one, how do you feel about yourself keeping 4 you can't drive at once? it's demonic if you ask me.
Nice video, thx! I own a 2007 3.0si and it’s even better than the previous model (265 hp vs 230)))
E85 or E89?
I'm an M235i owner, and have watched plenty of videos on those models.
You've got some great content here, and I don't think anyone else is covering the Z4 in the same way.
What a great car it is for only £5k.
It's a characterful car. Its fast, and something different to all these PCP muppets with their M140i's 😂.
Keep doing what you do! 👍
Thanks for the comment, really appreciate it. Always like to be different. In fact, the next car I’m hoping to acquire is an E63 M6, which is definitely characterful!
I rent a 2006 Z4 when I had my vacation in Arizona. Love the seat and the handling. Though I found the frame between roof and windshield is a bit in the way of my horizon (might be the way how I sit or my height). I was silly to got stuck in sand when I visit the horse shoes bend, luckily two amazingly local people passing by and help me out. Back to the point, the acceleration is fantastic, get to 80mph like piece of cake. But the circulation of wind with the roof down is not perfect, you might notice quite amount of the wind come back into the cabin. The fuel consumption is very traditional and overall I like it but would not buy one for myself personally. I just got a X1 instead.
Awesome! I was in Arizona just last month and rented a V8 mustang; which was great! X1 is a perfectly good and sensible car, perhaps you could get a Z4 just for the weekend? Haha!
went from Z4 to X1 smh, you Sir are a smart person, you're probably from Poland too.
I learnt to drive in a 2 ltr Capri, this is the first car to remind me of the fun ii had in that
I just wanted to add that i’m 190 cm tall and the Z4 is one car I can ride very confortably even with the soft top on (obviously, this car is mean to be driven with the top off, a pair of Ray Ban and a large smile on your face 😎). So, there’s absolutely no problem for tall people with style. Go for it.
Vincent Derouand wtf. My grandma has the 3.0i 2003 since 15 years and i like that car a lot. But i have to admit that with my height of 1.81m it gets after like 1h of driving really uncomfortable... (because of the gas pedal)
Basher ScreeX Look, that stands for me, in my sport seats, wich may be more confortable than the regular ones. I drove for 3 hours yesterday and it was just fantastic. Anyway, everyone should always test drive so he can make his own opinion.

Nice car and a great review. I'm a year into my current Z4 ('09 E89, 7 speed DCT, 400+hp COBB tuned N54 engine) and love it. Now and then I catch myself thinking about getting a second one, possibly a E86 Z4 (had an '03 in '05-06), or even a Z3 based M Roadster.

waffel waffle waffle ... VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM waffle waffle waffle VROOOOOOOOOOOOM! :) Carry on, I don't mind. Z4s and SLKs of the same generation have become suprrisingly affordable even here in Malta where any car (new or second hand) was gallingly overpriced till pretty recently. A bit marred by an abundance of autos.
Also. There is something almost magical, sonorous, titillating about BMW straight 6s.
I have a 2008 Z4 3.0si and I have traveled over 12 hours with my wife in the car and it was definitely not too comfortable for room or ride but it was great on the beach. We packed all of our week long luggage in the boot. We love the car and will most likely NEVER get rid of it.

Hey Joel I am looking to buy a z4 or a 7 series. Can you give me some advice on what to go for and what to look out for
Great info Joel. Thanks.
You’re welcome mate!
still running run flats, in computer control, I cannot get it to break loose on the tightest curves, sport mode breaks for you...enjoy being challenged on curvy roads by challengers in regular cars...throw it in sport mode and brake and accelerate and leave them all quickly.....let them catch up and repeat until they stop the challenge...tight for me with top up, prefer top down, windows down...sound is incredible..especially on the downshifts. My 2003 3.0 auto smoked a kate 90's corvette on the curves....he could get me on
the straights...computer kept me on the curves and fast...
DTC off! Who needs traction control :)
Exactly!
Had a Z3, get more looks on my Z4,annd love the way it handles and runs.
Let me know if you are coming to Ireland. That's a smashing video. I ride Bmw's and of course know some cracking roads in the southwest. Gordon
My z4 is very similar to yours.
-2004 3.0i
-6 speed manual
-about 126000 miles
-muffler delete
-working roof
Only difference is mine have cup holders. Both of them!
Oh, and it doesn't drink oil. Though your engine is probably in better condition than mine.
I'm also 5'9" but I tend to sit lower in the cars. Decent amount of headroom, nothing for me to worry about.
Very similar to mine indeed!
2010ngojo Mine had 20k miles when I bought it, 55k when I sold it. And I almost never had to top the oil up either..
2019 and in a month or so im buying my girl one☝🏾 😍💪🏾💯

Just got my first bmw 3 litre z 4 with cup holders lol I’ve not stoped smiling amazing sound from the engine surprisingly very quiet it suits my life style kids grown up live on my own perfect I think it is a life style choice so beware defo not a family car guys but loads of fun great video by the way Joel 👍
Awesome cinematography man! How do you know the oil level is low? Does the car tell you or do you frequently check the dip stick? I’ve driven my Z4 3,000 miles and the oil was changed right before I purchased it but now I’m a little worried (don’t want to drive around with low oil).
Thanks mate! I normally check my dipstick once a month, but when you need to top the oil up, a yellow oil light comes on the dash when you switch the car off - so I normally just do it then! Hope this helps 👍🏻
It's Joel awesome, that’s great to know - thanks!
Anytime bro!
Hmm I wonder how different the 3.0 N52B30 variant sounds inside the cabin,
Anybody wanna chime in?
The M54B30 is a symphony at the intake and the exhaust. I love the engine!!
The reason your wallet is empty is because you bought an Iphone X lol
Haha yeah, you’re not wrong!
It's Joel hahahahha
