I don't generally like to hear traditional Christmas music rearranged a great deal, but Barenaked Ladies and Sarah McLaclan hit this one out of the park. One of my favorite Christmas songs now.

Hi, I'm from Chile and people here don´t know this version of Christmas song. When I was in the USA, I was so sorprised that radios played Chistmas songs during the whole month. That was the moment when I discovered this song and I loved it inmediately...I didn't know who sang it and I looked so hard in youtube and finally found it. I don't get tired of it. I love it, specially Sarah McLachlan's voice.

My understanding is that this song was first performed, unrehearsed, on-stage in Detroit when Sarah (the headline act) was DYING on stage. BNL had just left the stage, then came back out to jam with her and save her set from completely collapsing in front of thousands of fans. The song itself was a Christmas miracle for Sarah. I love Canadian musicians, and this teamwork was amazing to watch.
These guys just don't get enough credit as incredible musicians. The hardest thing in the world to do is update a Christmas classic and they just nailed it.

Patrick, thanks for the education on that. although I a actually mostly jewish, albeit not really religious, but you will be happy to know that despite that, I am told by most people they think I must attend church every sunday because I have never smoked,drank done drugs, and work very hard to do the right thing for the benefit of others more than not. I always try to respect others, be honest, sincere and all that jazz. But hey, no one is perfect, at least not us humans. but despite all this, I think this song, this version is just really truly amazing and soothing.
