Wow! Wow! Wow! I've been a guitarist and musician for 61 years ... You could line up 10,000 female vocalists and Julianne would stand well above them all. What a voice and style and her pitch is absolutely dead-on, on this, my favorite Christmas worship song!
Dear fans of the Petersens: Drove over 200 miles to see them live in St. Marys, Ohio last week--- they're every bit the first-class, talented performers you'd imagine. Authentic... soulful. Left convinced that there are, indeed, angels--- and for two hours, this family brought heaven to earth.
I am listening to this for what seems like the hundredth time and my favorite part is at the very first when Julianne says..."and joy". Then looks up and you know something special is coming and then you find out that you were right!
As a 38 year old metal head, ive got to admit that this version brought a tear to my eye. And i cant stop listening! Amazing job, absolutely incredible! Merry Christmas! ✝️🇺🇸🎄
All amazing here. Juliannas voice is fantastic. Then Katie joins with the violin. Brilliant as usual. In this rubbish world they bring light into my darkness.
This young woman has accomplished something very special. In the face of having to come along after her two sisters, who are both very fine singers, Julianne has managed to develop a style and flair OF HER OWN. That is mighty rare, especially these days, when aping others seems to be a professional requisite. Good for her!
found these fine people about 40 mins ago...like the first 2 songs...noticed they use two different vocalist ...so...bounced around song to song to see if they keep alternating main vocals.... they all have been good....but this young lady is jaw dropping. wow! So much talent in this group and absolutely amazing vibes!!!!
I'm glad i went back to find this gem. It's Simply one of my very favorite videos on RUclips. Katie's violin solo is incredible and Julieanne's vocals are majestic. Very well done Petersens! Emmett is incredible as always. Matt too.
I love how the other sisters look at their lead sister with such pride and joy. I never had that relationship with my siblings. Urban Brooklyn New York here and I am loving this tune
I have seven siblings and we still do look at each other like this (even when we’re not playing music, although almost all of us do play instruments)…and it’s such a joy in our lives to have this. That might be one of the many reasons I enjoy the Petersen videos so much - it reminds me that I should always cherish the great gift our parents gave us, and that we still give each other.
4:19 when she hits that note and the biggest smile afterwards...she just warms my heart. So well done Petersen family! Thank you for the wonderful song and God bless!!
Julianne’s voice is beautiful. Emmit’s Dobro solo was over the top awesome, and Katie’s fiddle play was at a whole other level of good. I’ll probably watch this video 100 times before Christmas.
Julianne's voice is unique, and rich. The instrumentals were fantastic. I have never heard one song by the Peterson's that haven't been over the top fantastic. Love what these young folks are doing.
Everyone shines as usual. Katie's fiddle lead was so exquisite it got under the skin, almost uncomfortably. Emmett's dobro skills were just perfect. Matt's rhythm was rock steady, like a freight train. But my, my, Julianne's voice! I've don't know if I've ever heard as irresistible a vocal break used that skillfully for interpretation! Julianne has made great strides as a vocalist in just the past year or so. She commands the space and radiates confidence. Her progress really is breathtaking. Way to go, guys. Out of the park. Home Run! I'm a fan of the Petersons for life.
I am repeatedly blown away by the maturity and sophistication of Julianne's vocal style. It is rich in inflection and nuance and never overdone. Her voice might be the smallest in the ensemble, but she gets more out of her instrument than anyone else, save perhaps Emmett's dobro. The Petersens are all excellent musicians, but to my ear these two are on another level of virtuosity.
How do you become prolific as the Petersen’s as musicians? Practice, practice, practice…and all sing beautifully. Julianne is a once in a generation singer, headed for Super Stardom. Will definitely work towards attending a concert. Thanks for sharing your gifts with the world. Imagine if Mom and Dad had not attended that Bluegrass concert and made the decision “we’re going to be a Bluegrass band”. Thanks Mom and Dad Petersen! God bless you all, always.
Y’all have truly blessed my day by listening to this song. My wife is sick, I hurt for her. This message you bring in song is comforting to me. Thank you and Merry Christmas.
Julianne has such a unique and beautiful voice. I could listen to her for hours! One day she is going to realize that and really cut loose! The arrangement and instrumentals were awesome as always. You make me smile.
II have heard literally dozens of versions of this song. Usually I don't like musicians to change the style of songs, especially Christmas songs but the Petersons style and HEART on this song made it the best version i have EVER heard. THIS GROUP HAS IT'S HEART IN IT'S MUSIC. That's the way it should be.
Their arrangement is a riff on the recording by the Bare Naked Ladies, which is also very, very good. Give it a listen. I love what the family has done with it.
Among Jews and Gentiles, there are different perceptions of the Messiah and different notions on how we are to recognise him when he comes, based upon their different levels of understanding and, particularly, of what is required of the Jewish Messiah. Many of these requirements are inscrutable to those not trained in Jewish classical literature. In Jewish teaching, the Messiah is a man, like all other men, born of earthly parents, but who is, naturally, more charismatic and astute than others, and who, according to Jewish law, will bring peace to our troubled world (Mishnah Eduyot 8:8). This has yet to happen. He assumes no divinity of his own. The "Jewish God" described in the Hebrew Bible is NOT the same god described in the Christian New Testament. There is a profound difference in the way the deity (God) is described by Jewish rabbis and by the so-called Christians. Christians think that there are three personages in one. Jews reject this notion. King David wrote in the Psalms: "They will multiply their goddesses [1] (Heb. עַצְּבוֹתָם); they have hastened after some other thing; I shall not pour out their libations of blood, neither shall I take-up their names upon my lips. The LORD is my portion and my cup; you [alone] are the upholder of my fate" (Psalm 16:4-5). ____________ NOTES: [1] English translation "goddesses" follows the Aramaic Targum of Psalm 16:4, where the word צלמנין is used for עצבות, the plural feminine form of עצבים (images; idols) found in Psalm 115:4, Psalm 135:15, among other places.
These guys play this song from the heart. Just watched them for the first time on this video. They have done a tremendous job! Every musician is such a good player making a beautiful team. Thank you! I would love to see you live someday.
I normally dislike any alteration to traditional Christmas music, but this arrangement and performance is by far the most incredible thing I've ever heard!
This is my favorite version of this Christmas classic. Julianne's voice is amazing and I love the jazzy rhythm. Everything about this arrangement and performance is simply fantastic
WOW. This year I so needed to hear this lovely bluegrass version of this Christmas classic. Thank you! Love and good will from a 3rd generation nyc born and bred. God Bless America.
Moms look of satisfaction and pride as she listened to her children finish another beautiful song warmed my heart and made me smile. She is a beautiful mother whom obviously gave her children a sound foundation for life. Well done all of you!

That is absolutely amazing that got to #3 on the billboards with this song! The more I listen to your music, the more I think that Emmett deserves the IBMA Dobro Player of the Year.
Wow!!! Again, Julianne's HAUNTINGLY beautiful voice!!! I also love the way Katie "bends" those notes on the violin!!! But, it's the way the older sis' smile at their baby sister, that truly warms my heart...LOVED IT!!!
Great vocal by Julianne, amazing solos by Katie and Emmett, and solid contributions from the other members of the sextet add up to a memorable take on a Christmas mainstay.

What a wonderful song. So many tears of joy when I hear this song. Thank you so much for that.

So much grace, the singer is superb😊
This and the O Come O Come Emmanuel rendition are the best music I have ever heard. Simply breathtaking. Thank you .

Juliannes singing is a comfort and joy.
The Petersens made me a blue grass fan, they do excellent work. Merry Christmas.
Me too! I was never a 'blue grass fan'....but now I love it! I love music by The Petersens....(& also the Lindsey Family)!
Julianne needs more credit for her unmistakable tone and phrasing. YOU ARE SO TALENTED!
From Russia with love! Thank you folks, great music, great voices, great Petersen's.
I love how the other sisters look at their lead sister with such pride and joy. I never had that relationship with my siblings.

It just does not get any sweeter and purer than this.
SO MUCH COMFORT & JOY IN THIS PERFORMANCE........
Im just gonna give kudos to Mat here. That dude lays a solid rhythm foundation with feeling. Excellent work.

I just love Juliana's voice it's so unique and so beautiful and so peaceful and it harmonizes so well with the rest of the group
Wow! A rare performance. One heck of an interpretation. Sends shivers down the spine.

Julianne’s voice has such an amazing bluegrass quality to it. All of you sing beautifully but there’s just something about that Julianne range. ❤️
The Peterson's are extremely talented and a joy to listen to. Their music is of all types and not just Bluegrass.

Thanks Petersens!
This is the kind of Christmas music that I like to listen to in Spring.
We'll done all around but KATIE that solo puts wind into the sails of a song that usually has to be rowed across to the other side.
BTW: Kudos to the audio engineer for excellent EQ'ing and volume mixing! Fiddle and Dobro solos were absolutely wonderful!!
Good call, mixing can be horrible on an otherwise great performance from the artists!
Julianne's vocals 'blend in' with the instrumentals perfectly. Everything from this video sounds so smooth together.

Julianne's voice is mesmerizing and perfect for this song.
