►LYRICS - Mary, Did You Know?
Mary, did you know that your baby boy
Would one day walk on water?
Mary, did you know that your baby boy
Would save our sons and daughters?
Did you know that your baby boy
Has come to make you new?
This child that you delivered
Will soon deliver you
Mary, did you know that your baby boy
Will give sight to a blind man?
Mary, did you know that your baby boy
Will calm the storms with his hands?
Did you know that your baby boy
Has walked where angels trod?
When you kiss your little baby
You kiss the face of God
The blind will see, the deaf will hear
The dead will live again
The lame will leap, the dumb will speak
The praises of the Lamb
Mary, did you know that your baby boy
Is Lord of all creation?
Mary, did you know that your baby boy
Would one day rule the nations?
Did you know that your baby boy
Is heaven's perfect Lamb?
That sleeping child you're holding
That sleeping child you're holding
That sleeping child you're holding
Is the great I Am

This was a happy morning surprise. Thank you Liz for carrying us all along. you're the best!
Thanks so much Liz, another job well done.👍
Thanks Liz!! Again, with little time, you did a great job! 👍
Dearest Liz!Thank you so much for the lyrics! This job you do is of great help to me-I"m not a native speaker and, being out of a conversational practice for a long time,I don"t always catch the meaning from the first listening...But there"s Lyrics -and that is great!!!
Thank you, Liz!
It is hard to believe that Julianne was once too shy to perform and she had to be coaxed to join the group. All y'all are simply wonderful.
I know I've heard a thousand covers of this, but first time I heard the Petersen version it was like a new song to me. Julianne kills it in the lead, and what a harmony team - Ellen & Katie! As always, Katie's fiddle and Emmet's dobro give it a unique soud with Matt and Mama laying down a solid baseline. Breathtaking job, and even better in person.
Beautiful beautiful ✝️
Absolute perfection
They make me love songs that I've never cared for in the past.
Harmony sent chills, all over! Happy Birthday Lord Jesus!
And I also love the unique banjo sounds added to the mix!
This voice! I could listen to Julianne non-stop. Please, more from her. More from all of you. Love you all.
Great performance
The backing vocals sounded very pleasant to my ears.
Beautifully performed, excellent lead Julianne.
Agreed.Julianne's voice is getting so much stronger and mature
You may try but I doubt you’ll find three more beautiful sisters, who are professional singers, with the most beautiful harmonizing voices, in the best and most beloved family band, than Katie, Ellen (Haygood) and Julianne Petersen. Their harmonies give chills to my chills🥶
I thought I was sick of this song.. but every time I hear this version I can’t stop crying, this performance is so touching!
In my opinion, Julianne's best performance. Her unique voice together with the arrangement and the sound of musical instruments are amazing.
have you seen _Gentle On My Mind_ ?
Yes,there are many beautiful songs:Gentle On My Mind,Wade In The Water,Dreams and many others, but this is something special for me,this arrangement seems to be directly for her.@@googoo-gjoob
This and Oh Come, Oh Come, Emmanuel are my favorites from Julianne's songs.
YEP !!
imo, Julianne's Bear Tracks is the best.
Beautiful, in so many ways 😎
One of my 94 year old mother's songs. The tears come when she hears... "You kiss the face of God"
Thank you.😇
Katie’s counterpoint starting 2nd verse, leading up to her solo, is gold. So much extra melodic interest. The backing vocals, slightly altering melody, etc. 🔥
She has the perfect voice for this song! She knocked it out of the park!
This version is absolutely magnificent.
OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE AND ARRANGEMENT❤
The Petersens + Christmas music = The start to a wonderful Christmas season 🙌
Woo, hoo! Amen!
So right👍
Julianne's voice, Katie's fiddle, the Girl's harmonizing!!!
🌟🌟🌟
Julianne has matured in so many ways. Practice sure makes perfect.
And this beautiful song is being heard all over the world in living rooms with a lit Christmas tree. So amazing!
I have been listening to y’all for years. This is my favorite Christmas song and this is THE BEST version ever.
I still never can't cry hearing this version.
They are great. Rhythm, beautiful voices, presence.
How does this not have 10 million views already?
So wonderful to see the older girls look at their baby sister. The proud looks on their faces in every song she sings warms my heart.
Love this arrangement with Julianne's vocals it is a winner. Love the harmony and also to hear Karen's playing was a real treat. Happy Christmas
I'm Brazilian and I like country music. Their roots country is excellent.
A really good version! Fantastic voice and amazing instrumentation. God bless you!!!
Just love this song, Julianne outperformed herself with this one, you all know songs have a way of opening the heart to the holy sprit!! Powerful Performance
Julianne! Your voice moves me to tears, and your Mom and siblings (Emmett included) are a breath of fresh air. Thank you.
It’s pretty amazing to see these beautiful young folk grow as musicians and individuals in front of our own eyes. You guys are amazing.
You guys showed glory to God with your beautiful rendition of this song.
Well sung by Julianne. What a unique voice, with a really great range. She hits the high notes with ease. .
Awesome color. Such pleasing instrumentation. Lovely smiles. Strong male presence on either side. Forceful, ever present base. So enjoyably pleasing!
This song put a lump in my throat and I didn't cry a tear or two cause I'm a grown man and we don't admit to that sort of thing
I was moved by her beautiful voice. I always look forward to it.
This version really touches my heart. Thank you for all the joy you give to us❣
After going to the Ozarks and seeing you guys in concert with my daughter and wife, it is crazy that I can still be surprised how amazing you guys the Petersons are.
my granddaughter Luci loves you guys and will come to see you 2 days after christmas!!! she can't wait
Classic Christmas song dating back to the 90s, perfectly re-arranged and beautifully renovated. The initial riff of four chords is perfect and already gives the idea of something different from the past. The instrumental performance is beautiful with Katie's solos and the bass also played with the bow which give the ideal orchestration for this song. And then Julianne's splendid and unique voice which shows almost incredible vocal control and range over multiple octaves. Her improvements are truly more and more evident day by day. However, the performance of the whole group was excellent! Thanks as always for everything! 🙏❤
Thank you Roberto. You summed it up perfectly. God bless you my friend
The perfect comment, Roberto! Beautiful descriptions of the different aspects of the song.
Have a great weekend! 😊
@@Sooch694 Thanks Sooch! As always, I wish you a happy weekend!
@@emmajo4880 Thanks Emma! I read your comment and, I must say, it is really beautiful and very appropriate! But, correct me if I'm wrong, will you see our beloved band In Cincinnati today?
@@Roberto-pd8vn thank you, Roberto! Sadly, I am not going to be seeing them, today, but I am sure it will be a great show!!! I have their new and old Christmas albums on constantly, and every time I fall deeper in love with each tune every time I hear it!
Of the songs on their new Christmas, it was this song along with "We Don't Need Anything This Year" that really caught my attention.
What an amazing voice coming outta that girl. Hypnotic.
Love the “Beatlesque” bass & violin riffs during the bridge! Very beautiful NEW rendition of an older standard
Funny, I heard some of the same beautiful sounds in their rendition of Coldplay's The Scientist, friend.
Growing up I was privileged to spend time, here in Maine, around Emmet and his family in little Friendship (& Washington) Maine. I’m sure Emmet doesn’t remember me but he and his family’s music made quite an impact on me. I was pretty happy to find him on here with your family 20 plus years later. We share the same birthday if I recall.
And I quote, “When God calls emmet fourth, he’ll come in fifth.” Per his father.
Yes!! I love this one. HE is the reason for the season...thank you all for sharing the truth through your talents!
Beautiful new rendition of this well-known song. Well done guys.👏 Emmett 'The Arranger' strikes again!
Love it, “The Arranger!”
Have a great weekend, Frank!
@@emmajo4880 Let's just hope he doesn't end up in one of those Marvel movies now.😁 A lovely weekend to you too Emma.😊
@@FrankvdMuijsenberg that is the truth, lol! Thank you!
Amazingly beautiful rendition.
Mama is do an awsome job holding down that bass line in the back of the song. Keep it going, Mama!
All through these years, this is the Petersens best performance ever. A lovely version of a beautiful song and the best of all the versions of this song in RUclips.
this is just about too beautiful.
Beautifully done. I grew up in New Jersey but spent my childhood summers in the Ozarks. My grandparents had property and horses in Cassville. Roaring River, Branson, and Silver Dollar City are some of the best memories of my childhood. Fire in the hole!
Great job band. Great job singing this Julianne. Great job on this unique arrangement Emmett!
67,931 views on its first day on RUclips…the people have spoken…they love this.
What a voice!
I hadn’t heard this song until I saw the video by the Petersens who I follow. I instantly loved it. I thought there might be a better version on iTunes by another artist but having listened to them all there isn’t. This is by far the best version released. A credit to the family… and thanks for a wonderful rendition..
So beutiful. So nice. Angelic voices. You are good. 😊❤️🇸🇪🇺🇸
By far the best sound quality. The camera set up, light and everything looks remarkable. Bravo. Love it.
Glory to God ! ❤😀 Yes Mary knew and pondered in her heart. We are in the advent season for all those who are not Christian. Each week we light a candle in Dec. The 1st is for HOPE and second week , tomorrow, we light a second candle for PEACE. ty Perdersens for adding Mark Lowery and Buddy Greens beautiful song of our age to enrich the season ❤
Aah! I am at a loss for words, here! This is a very beautifully written song, which, as Emmett stated in the recent live chat, has been covered so many times in the same form. To the point I feel the meaning has been overshadowed by just hearing more of the same over and over again, as is the unfortunate case for so many wonderful tunes.
But leave it to the Petersens and Emmett to come up with a version all their own that not only grabs our attention by the musical richness, but draws us to focus on what the song was written for in the first place all those covers ago! The gift of Christ’s birth is so enormous, and we, like Jesus’ own mother, cannot know how much it keeps on giving- we can’t comprehend the infinite nature of our Savior and the wonders and blessings he is capable of. Thanks, Petersens, for another song to remind us of the reason for the season! ❤❄️✝️
Also, I commend how you show such appreciation for your fans and the places you film and play at! Your humility is why you guys are such a lovable band. You don’t put yourselves on a pedestal- you are people, the same as us.
Keep up the good work, everyone! Happy December!!! (Hope we all make it through, 😉🤣)
Amen! ❤🕊
That bass playing at about 1:50s is inspiring. Lovely vocals - (everything actually).
I love Julianne's voice. And I love this song. And I love the Petersons.
This is a HOME RUN! I can't stop listening! (yeah, even about the whole cinnamon loaf....lol)
It's hard to express in words the comfort and joy I feel with this song, your voices, the sound of each instrument...you all have given a wonderful gift to me and so many others. Thank you!
Lovely comment!
Agree!
a symphony of good musical choices - a gentle tour de force of talent
What a blessing this is!!! Y'all did a great job on this song. Jesus is the great "I am".
Amen!
I couldn't help writing a comment again.Either it is pre Christmas time or the highest quality of the song arrangement and the brilliant work of all band members, but i"ve watched the video 10 times over for the first time....And i keep watching it over and over again...
Love it! ❤ And love your rendition of this song! One of my all time favorite songs!
This one gave me goosebumps. Like I always say, "I trust my goosebumps." Julianne is getting more beautiful every time I see her. While at the same time I cannot help but notice that she has been consistently maturing as a musician all along the way. The one thing I have left to say about that is she sang this song in a manner that heightened it's importance for the listener. I also want to extend my heartfelt (and belated) congratulations to Ellen in regards to the birth of her first born child. Ellen, You still radiate the visible glow of your pregnancy.
Take care. sincerely, Dean O. :-I
Love Julianne’s smile at 3:30. These ladies really seem to love what they’re doing and take so much pride in each other. Love the videos.
This song was not at all what I expected from your group, but it's far better than I imagined! I absolutely love it! The sound is so unique, the harmony is always on point, and Julianne was amazing! This has to be one of my favorite renditions! Emmett's talent is off the charts! LOVE THIS!!
Did you know..... that Julianne was awesome. Great rendition of this beautiful song.
Very nice song, awesome girls, and atmosphere of old western. Greatings from Gdańsk, Poland, Europe.
Beautiful guys ❤
The Violin and Double Bass work well together on this. Great vocals as well!
Truly amazing rendition, undisputed best version of this song ever posted on RUclips!
Again a great performance from the Petersens they melt my heart ❤️
Wow! Beautiful rendition. 🙌
Oh,my...I simply cannot express all the feelings and emotions I get while watching this video and listening to the Lyrics...Complete and utter appeasement accompanied by tears of joy...
Merci à vous tous et une très belle performance de Julianne, beaucoup de Kiss from Belgium
This makes Christmas complete with The Peterson singing this song!!!
Beautifully done. I also, have to laugh every time I hear this song, because, yes, she knew. An angel told her all this. It is a pretty song and this arrangement is great. And yes, she knew.
Wow this one couldn't have been done better!
This arrangement! Makes the song new again and fits perfectly. Bravo!
I so agree. I am actually enjoying it for the first time in years.
Just awesome y'all! Julianne nailed the feeling of this song so well, and I could tell that every word is true in her heart. It looked like she had tears of joy for the Lord in her eyes as she was singing! Thank you, all of the Petersen team!
One of my very favorite performances from your wonderful family. Julianna sounds angelic.
Julianne your voice on my favorite song was breathtaking ! With Ellen and Katie's harmony, and the beauty of the music, has made this my favorite version. I believe in my Heart and Soul that the Angels in Heaven stopped to listen ! Thank you
all for this wonderful gift.
I got goose bumps listening to this. Julianne's voice was angelic. Awesome job done by all!
Magnificent arrangement of the song! Each instrument takes its part perfectly on a definite time. And Julliane"s vocal as a lead is something....Bravo!
Julianne’s voice is just perfect here, yes!
@@emmajo4880 Her voice is unique in a way and is so appropriate for the songs like this one..

I have never heard this song in original version but I like your version. It´s fine listening to your music.
This is sooo cool...
This brought tears to my eyes. So beautiful. Love hearing you all sing and play. God bless you all
Subscribed at the first string play. Beautiful
It is wonderful to see how well you boys and girls are turning into men and women without losing a bit in sweetness and clarity of sentiment and thoughts. Well done, Petersens, and Happy Christmas season from Italy!
Amazing, extraordinary!
Now that is an arrangement. Kudos.
You folks sure do fill me with peace. Thank you for all you do, for all you share. I'd love to hear you in person one day.
Brilliant song , Julianne amazing vocals and harmonies from Ellen and Katie and amazing playing from the Petersens and Emmett.
Only the Petersen's could do such justice to such a beautiful song... truly an incredible cover to a message that is so, so needed now. Take care, be safe and God bless.
Beautifully done. Julianne, you are the best. God Bless you all 💖🙏
She knew! The archangel, Gabriel, literally told her all these things! No need to ask poor Mary anymore. She knew. :)
