- We finally have another Julianne song to share with you! We were a little worried the rain would be too much, but when we got the audio back, it added such a nice touch that fit perfect for the mood of the song.
Our album, Live Sessions, Vol. 04, includes "Wayfaring Stranger" and is dedicated to everyone who traveled to see us this year! Whether you have come to the Branson theater or a show on the road, it has meant so much to us that you want to hear us live. When we walk out on that stage and see your smiling faces, you give us energy and true joy as we perform. We also LOVE getting to meet you and put faces to the names that cross our screens. Thank you for giving your time and resources to see us do our favorite part of our jobs!
We also recorded a twisted version of this song for our album, My Ozark Mountain Home, and it earned the title "Wayfaring Stranger Gets Stranger" from mom!

►LYRICS - Wayfaring Stranger
I am a poor wayfaring stranger
Traveling through this world of woe
And there's no sickness, no toil nor danger
In that bright land to which I go
I'm going there to see my father
I'm going there no more to roam
I'm only going over Jordan
I'm only going over home
I know dark clouds will gather around me
I know my way is rough and steep
Yet beauteous fields lie just before me
In Christ redeemed, their vigils keep
I'm going there to see my mother
She said she'd meet me when I go
I'm only going over Jordan
I'm only going over home
I want to wear that crown of glory
When I get home to that bright land
Well, I want to shout salvation's story
In concert with all the blood-washed band
I'm going there to see my Savior
I'm going there no more to roam

Thanks once again Liz!
Thanks, Liz
Thanks, Liz. You're always right on it.
Well thank you Liz. I'm up way too late.
You all never disappoint!!
May God Bless each of you!!! Very special people!!
Leaving this comment here as a reminder. So that whenever someone likes it, I can come back and listen to this masterpiece!!! I have heard a bunch of versions but almost all of them leave out the most important parts of what this song represents.
This is your reminder 😉
Reminding you again
Reminding you again!😄
Here am I...another reminder, friend!
I think it's great touch the rain in the background. While all did an incredible job, having julian playing and singing the primary vocals is a perfect choice.
I have seen many valleys, lakes, forests, mountains and beaches in my life, but I still haven't found anything more beautiful and alive than a united family.
The world desperately needs more united families.
AMEN.
Julianne's voice has the perfect "high lonesome" sound for bluegrass and real country. Her secret weapon may be her dimple, but her magic is her voice.
My 6 year old daughter just passed away and the Petersens were her favorite group, she was listening to 'Carolina in my mind' when she passed...I have no words what this song means to me stumbling across it...
Mr. Hadley....so so sad to hear of your loss here, sir. I hope and pray that when you go over Jordan, you go home to see your little one there...smiling and ecstatic to see her Daddy again!
Sir I am so sorry for you loss
Sorry for your loss sir you'll see her again.
I am sorry for your loss. 🌷
@@singmysong1167 "For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”
Julianne taking the lead here is well-deserved. Not only is she beautiful, but fantastic with her unique voice, and great on the mandolin. Everybody taking a turn was a great addition. Great band. Great band...
This girl is an angel.
Julianne is getting older and evidently better every year...
This wonderful group of folks should be declared a national treasure!!!!
I love that Mom had a solo with the bass. For a moment sounded like good ole Jazz. Go Mom!
My aunt is dying of cancer. I listened to this song all day today thinking of her. . . ."And there's no sickness, no toil nor danger In that bright land to which I go."
They are all spectacular, but the youngest sister doesn’t realize how good she is. She has an old school bluegrass voice we need, reminds me of Emmy Lou Harris.
I just love how much Ellen smiles at her little sister. And in most videos, the joy on her face is always so evident. She just enjoys playing with the family, and always seems so proud of everyone’s efforts. Love that!
That's one of the things that makes them so good: nobody's trying to be the star. They're all just working to be their best and uplift the whole group.
...yeah I notice that too, they are genuinely happy for one anaother, it's very rare, you don't see this much, most families have a certain tension between each other, a lot could never even do something like this together. I'm guessing they are a religious family ands the way they seem to respect each other is a tremendous example. No preaching required
The local weatherman: It'll be pouring rain today folks. Perfect day to stay indoors.
The Petersens: Perfect day to create a great cover of a classic.
We should all pray for God’s protection for this family. They are a great witness and blessing.
From your mouth to God's ears ... Amen!
This is the America I love. Everything about this video is perfect.
Even nature provided the perfect backdrop
They look and sound like angels. God bless this family.
Being a 66 man year old man who played sports and serve in the US Navy this song brings tears to my eyes. Thank you and God Bless your family.
thanks for your service
From a retired Aussie who has never been to the USA, I just love this group! Their music is so uplifting it almost makes me wish I was born in America! Never a day goes by that I don’t listen to a few of their songs to put me in a good mood.
I remember back in the late 60's early 70's hearing Emmy Lou Harris for the first time. Today, I heard the Petersens for the first time. The feeling I got was the same, I knew I was hearing something special!
I really like the mood of this video. The rain, the colors, their elegance and of course the music.
This is how you make sunshine ☀️ on a rainy day 😀
"But the sun still shines, most of the time. Did you know the sun shines when it rains?"
-Linda Ronstadt, in 'High Sierra'
I love watching how Ellen looks at Julianne how proud she is of her
Or is it that those two are plotting something? Thankfully Katie and Matt add a certain level of decorum.
Well maybe not Matt. And Katie only sometimes.
Git it Momma.
Her voice...... It's 'goose bump city'. It truly reminds me of a young Alison Krauss. Just stunning!!!
On another note, whoever's in charge of the visuals deserves a medal. Everything about it is perfect; the torrential rain, the colour of the wood, the different shades of colour on the clothes. It's sumptuous.
That would be Aaron Clark
They did it... These legends finally did it! We now have the honor of hearing a high-quality recording of Wayfaring Stranger played by The Petersens! I've been waiting for this ever since I saw them play it in a video of one of their live shows.
Me too.
Seeing the blonde older sister watch her ister sing is amazing. Thank you for your love for each other
The sound of the pouring rain gives me kind of a proof that this is really live ...
Hard to believe. They are sooo good 😃
Love the mandolin Juls, Beautiful sibling harmony, The sound of the rain adds a beautiful touch.
I could listen to Julianne all day long.
Love the way Ellen smiles every time her little sis sings. So awesome.
It is so great to see the younger generation standing tall on praising God and the old traditions. Thank you
This is a true song for every true believer, they are home sick for the eternal home and know that the things of this life are temporal and their heart is steadfast no matter where or what the road may bring into their path. Followers of Christ and the wayfaring stranger are one and the same.
I came back to this song today, after losing my wife two months ago. Thank you Julianne for such a touching song.
You have the sympathies and prayers of all Petersens fans.
Gorgeous rendition. Loved that they sang all the verses.
Ellen always looks so proud of her little sis. Well done.
How does one smile and cry at the same time.
Nature sound of rain, acoustic instruments played outdoor and perfect harmonics by family chorus recreated how this beautiful old American folk song would have sounded almost 200 years ago in the West. Julian's vocal fits perfectly to conveying the plaintive message on this bluesy melancholy melody.
The rain truly does add a wonderful ambient sound and creates such a soulful aesthetic.
This is pure Americana at its best. America still has a strong moral foundation in music and the beautiful souls that sing it.
Get It Mama!
Can I say perfect??? I think so! PERFECT!!
Julianne shining on a rainy day 🌞
Again i have listen. So wonderful and that rain. 🙂
Oh My! The Petersens would be the best neighbors ever! Imagine free concerts every night, even in the rain 😅 Julianne sing your heart away! 🥰 y’all’s music has been such a pleasant treat since I stumbled across ..
You are so right! I totally want them next door to me!
The mom's role as bass player is prob the most vital. I've heard bluegrass without bass, and it can easily feel empty.
Good Job!
Musical Magic. The rain could not have been any better. The rain running off the roof, the plaintive cry of the song. It was really awesome. Thanks
Oh, these healers making me feel again. 😇
Ellen and Matt's harmonies were on point! Perfect volume too
Great song played by GREAT musicians.
I love this song .
I love this family . They sing a folk song and they sound folk.
Amor / Love from Buenos Aires , Argentina
I love how this family plays togethers, sounds great together, and looks great together. I appreciate the modesty of the women of this band and how cool they make modesty look. They are very fashionable, yet modest.
My favourite family musicians .
Would like for this to be played at my funeral when that time comes...BEAUTIFUL.
me too
That girl never fails to give me goosebumps
Hmm… I think this is my favorite Julianne song that I’ve heard so far. So magical to watch all these people do their thing. It’s really quite incredible. 😊
Grazie Roberto, spesso si confonde, grazie per il chiarimento. Di nuovo su questi schermi. Ciao
Ciao Gianfranco. Alle prossime volte.
This performance hits just right ...
There are no English words to express my joy and love of your music.
Seems that the rain and the power of songs about loneliness brings out the best of your incredible group❤from🇩🇪
The vocals in a Petersen's performance is always top-notch; with this recording they demonstrate their incredible musicianship as well. Great job everyone!
this version should be in a movie!
This song transcends every kind of music. Words and melody go together in perfection.
This is just like Heaven to me!!!!!
That’s a wonderful song that pays homage to bluegrass gospel roots. It’s also been a pleasure to see all of your skills grow and mature over the last few years. Julianne (AKA The Wild Pookie) has come a long way since being called out on stage while playing mandolin during a performance of “Uncloudy Day”. Thank you for the blessing of your music. It makes dark days much more bearable. We also look forward to the Mini--Palooza in March. We will be there, Lord willing.
Love,
The Clines
I miss my dad... This song makes me enjoy while I am longing to see him. Thank you the Petersens!
Every once in a while mom almost cracks a smile....but she knows every little thing that's going on that's for sure.
This could not be done better, chokes me up every time.
Did you also listen to the new version? ruclips.net/video/tEZa4xO462Q/видео.html
Actually loved the sound of the rain in there. It really set the mood. Great work on this!
I concur! The rain adds a really nice ambiance to this track!
Also concur, great vibe
I have listened to this band for a couple of years... they get better every time.. you can hear the all the hard work they have done.. maybe I can see them live sometime soon. !
I listen through the tv hooked to a DAC running through a carver pre-amp and a old NAD 40wpc amplifier driving a set of mint Altec 19s...
you can hear the quality of sound this band has. ! JUST AWESOME !
I agree.....I have a set of Altec Valencia speakers that are at least 45yrs old and sound soooooo good. I'm running an old Fisher Quad reciever that's older than the speakers . Would love to have a good Denon system but am happy with what I have for the time being. Love so much to listen to their harmonies. Jules is fast becoming my fav of the girls singing. Happy Thanksgiving.
@@davidguyer8718 HI.. David... my Altec 19s .. I built them with real 416-8B and 811 horns with Great Plains 902-8A compression drivers... I built the crossover with the Altec specks.. Cabinets are 3/4 solid Cherry built by the Amish to perfection ! even the grills are perfect ! but I used magents to attach the grills... I also used a KT88 SET I built watching Blueglow electronics watching RUclips..
my buddy loved the amplifier so much.. I sold it to him ( he didnt want to give it back ) LOL..and I am starting a new for me soon..
Thanks for being there! I love this song and lyrics. This is excellent singing and playing. I hope to hear more from you.
She Warms the Hart when she Sings this Song What a Lovely Voice She has.
Just top notch and Julianne is really coming into her own - Petersens - the pride of the Midwest .
Almost a million views and only 20K likes? I feel so very sorry for the almost one million people that suffered through this brilliance without appreciation. Musicianship? Harmonies? These kids even made it rain. Oh Man!
great voice Julianne, there are a lot of classic blues you could sing and record and make your own as your family changes them to sound better.
Hi, I'm Japanese ,very impressed The Petersen family's singing songs, more over your echo, harmony and playing instruments like the nature. wonderful!
Go Mama!!
Ellen just loves her little sister.
"He could be eating anything out here ... in the Ozarks". Thanks Matt, good to know.
I love it ! Its is really beautiful and inspiring, The Petersens are wonderful artists. Greetings from France !
Bonjour! Avez-vous vu que The Petersens jouent dans une belle salle à Paris le 19 août ? www.seetickets.com/event/the-petersens/le-cabaret-sauvage-/3039818
The gentle sound of rain was our Heavenly Father's perfect accompaniment to this beautiful song and performance. Only He could find a way to enhance the perfection of the Petersens' music.
The sibling love is strong with this one. Julianne sounds great here, beautiful rendition guys!
All words I could use are just description. This song is emotion and the high and low. The Peterson's once again takin us on a beautiful ride and I Truly Love it.
Best version to date I've heard of this . And my daddy was one of the original Inspirations of the inspirations quartet. I've heard soooo many renditions of this song in 35 years . Truly the 👌 best
Yo Mama! The bass solo was kickass! lol - rock and roll. beannachd leibh!
That note Emmett does at 05:18. SO cool!
You're right Frank. Emmet is such a phenomenon that, even when he does exceptional things, it always seems to us that everything is normal. But, in reality, behind all this there is always hard work that confirms his constant improvement. 👍
Fan of the rainy background. I took my blanket and really enjoyed this autumm sounds
What a day will be when we see our Savior and be reunited with our loved ones. Thanks for you music, especially the ones that praises our Lord and Savior.
I have never sang with immediate family members like this, but have played team sports. I hope they all get the same feeling I used to when things are coming together and they are winning.
What an intro and I could listen to it all day long.
So excited, we have tickets to one of your Branson shows this summer !!
egyedülálló,ahogy ez a kedves család elvarázsolja világot
This beautiful and talented family does not disappoint, ever! What a blessing they are! This rendition is pure Petersen, and the best that I've heard! We are all poor, wayfaring strangers on our journey to the Father. Great bass work, Mother Petersen!
After a while you run out of superlatives. Very moving song performed to perfection. So much musical talent in one family is hard to believe. The harmonies are, as always, amazing but Julianne's singing here was enough to break your heart.
Super relatives.
Humbled, grateful and blessed to get to hear this. Beautifully done. 🙏
This is the best band I ever heard and the angel on the violin makes heart stronger in the lord Amen
Wonderful! Mom is looking GREAT!
Such a fine rendition. Julianne backed by her ultra-cool and professional bandmates... what a terrific package!
Wow Julianne. This is your best mandolin solo ever !! And also with the 'tremolo'!🎶👍 Your interpretation of this classic gospel is really magnificent! 👍 All the band is very good, of course, but a special mention this time to Mom, she too for a great double bass solo! 🎶👍
P.S. Ellen's approving look to Julianne at 00:15 is very significant! 😉
Here you are :D this song again ^^
@@Nantas14 It is just a strange coincidence! 😉
Like your.performances. It's beautiful.listen to you everyday..Thank you.Willie
"I know my path is hard and steep Yet beautiful fields lie right in front of me In Christ redeemed ". Very beautiful voice Julianne, a true work team.
Love the fact that there is sad and looming undertones but it sounds so bright at the same time. Great job!
It's goosebumps time .. again!
Such an original voice this gal has { love it} and getting scary good with that mandolin.Learned this song about twenty years ago while playing in a Christian country band in east TN.
Impeccable class and talent. Great American Music.
This is my all-time favorite American folk song. I don't think there's ever been a bad version of it. This was a great one!
