I'm a Brit but I had the pleasure of riding route 66 on a Harley a few years back. All I can say to you yanks is ignore the flak you get from us europeans - yes none of our countries are perfect but this rendition of the song just takes me back to that middle america where you have the most beautiful countryside and people and should be rightly proud.
Just to add I'm from the Cotswolds in England - the most quintessential view you all have of us but Missouri is an equal in landscape - not history though but I fell in love with it all the same - this song just transports me there - great job.
I’m married to an Englishman from North Yorkshire…he’s been here with me in America for 6 years. He has embraced the beauty of my country, while I long to return to the countryside of England. I spent a beautiful week in Stow on the Wold in 2013 and met him shortly afterwards. I also love Upper and Lower Slaughter. England is where my heart is

One of the things I love about this is the woman in the back who I presume is the mom, taking a back seat to the talent of her kids, and the unassuming role of someone who has surely sacrificed dearly in the effort to produce such a beautiful display.

For me the best part of watching all of your performances is the absolute love, joy and pride you show for each other. It makes the beautiful music so much more sweet.
I had just listened to two different versions of this great tune before I stumbled across this one, and it brought me to tears. I can imagine that this is exactly the way John Hartford would have wanted to hear it. Love Emmet's dobro.
Has anyone else been binging on their music lately? Every time I think one sibling is the most talented I watch their next video and change my mind. LOL.
Covid 102-105 degree for 6-8 weeks... I don't know day it is, or even if it day or night. You KNOW I gotta be binging on them, to maintain my sanity and remember what happiness used to be. I'm confident that I'll live, but I've about a month of abject misery yet to endure. You can only play the hand you're dealt. Play it wisely.
@@MarkWilsonMSW : I'm feeling much better. But being treated now for some serious liver thing. Ah, the fun never ends... LOL. But now that I'm conscious again, time for some more Petersens.
I just can’t hear this song enough! Your family performed this as beautifully as I’ve ever heard (outside of the first time with Glen doing the original)! I remember it like it was yesterday. It was in 1968-69 when I was a young Marine combat infantry officer in Vietnam. I was down near China Beach in DaNang and heard it playing. I was in the mash unit being treated for wounds and said to myself, “I’ve got to learn that song when I get back to the world!” I did exactly that, thanks to God for getting me home safely. There’s no song that I’ve ever played more...over...and over...and over. Just can’t get tired of it. I’m 76 and I remember when I heard the news that Glen died....I just broke down and cried! Thanks for the memories, kids (and mom!)...I believe Glen would have loved to hear your rendition...and maybe he just did! ;) Jerry Glazener, Capt. USMC, ret...and still picking in Texas!
Captain, first of all thank you for your service to our great country. I would like to refer you to John Hartford's version of this song if you haven't already heard it. He is the writer of the song and an immensely talented musician. Blessings to you sir...
I'm 69 and was fortunate to be watching the Glen Campbell Show when he first sang this. I am so happy for you that you returned from the Nam, only wishing that all could have done so as well. You had it SO tough. Every time I visit the Wall in Washington I am moved to tears.
Captain Glazener. Thank you for your service in the Vietnam War. Those of us that served later, and were treated right by are fellow citizens know you Vietnam vets got a really raw deal from the American people. Well, this citizen at least, really appreciates you. Glad you lived to learn this song. Oh, folks should always remember, "Don't Mess With Texas!"
Her voice is very addictive and unique (in a really good way) and has hooked me. She doesn’t seem to think much of her voice but she’s got the thing. She adds so much to the vocals in the mix too.
The Petersens have once again captured our hearts with their soulful and endearing performance of "Gentle On My Mind." This timeless classic, originally penned by John Hartford, has been given new life through the group's harmonious vocals and masterful musicianship. From the first strum of the guitar to the delicate plucking of the banjo, The Petersens' arrangement of "Gentle On My Mind" immediately draws listeners into a world of heartfelt nostalgia. Their choice of instruments and subtle accompaniments sets the perfect backdrop for the rich and emotive vocal delivery that is the hallmark of the group's music. The lead singer's voice shines with authenticity, conveying the depth of the song's emotions effortlessly. Each note and inflection transport the audience into the bittersweet story of love and longing. It is evident that The Petersens have a deep connection to the material, and their passion shines through in every verse. The harmonies in this rendition are nothing short of magical. The seamless blending of the voices creates a heavenly atmosphere, enveloping the listener in a warm and comforting embrace. The group's tight-knit vocal dynamics evoke a sense of togetherness, enhancing the song's message of cherishing cherished memories and shared experiences. What truly sets this performance apart is the raw simplicity and sincerity with which The Petersens approach the song. There are no unnecessary embellishments or over-the-top theatrics; instead, they allow the song's genuine emotions to speak for themselves. This restraint showcases their musical maturity and understanding of the song's essence. If there is one minor drawback, it is the song's familiarity, as "Gentle On My Mind" has been covered countless times by various artists. While The Petersens' rendition is undoubtedly noteworthy and impeccably executed, some listeners might long for a more distinctive interpretation of the classic. In conclusion, The Petersens' version of "Gentle On My Mind" is an enchanting journey through emotions and memories. Their soulful vocals, combined with skilled instrumental performances, create a captivating listening experience. Whether you're a fan of classic folk or new to the genre, this rendition is sure to leave you feeling warm and nostalgic. Overall, The Petersens have undoubtedly done justice to this beloved piece, offering a heartfelt tribute to the timeless classic and solidifying their place as talented interpreters of folk music. "Gentle On My Mind" is a testament to their musical prowess and the lasting power of a well-crafted melody.
Sarah, I too have listened to this wonderful song about once a day for the last several months. One of the strongest magnets for me is the way that each instrument and the vocals are so well presented. You can pick any one and hear them play with clarity throughout this performance. Very well done guys.
I cannot love this version of this classic song enough. I've been listening to it everyday for the past week-and-a-half. It's just...phenomenal and perfect.
Me too. I've listened to this about a hundred times, and every single time I listen, it gets better! Plus, I'm a total sucker for the Petersens' vocal harmonies, yet there's not one note of vocal harmony in this! Something about this song makes it perfect forJulianne's unique voice, and the musicianship of the rest of the band here is just stellar.
Pretty wild... I discovered them about a month ago too! My wife and I have a cabin near Branson and we're going to have to try and catch them next summer!
Julianne, you must know this is one of the most beautiful songs that Glen Campbell ever sang! My father was a good friend of Glen back in the early days in California and my father & I would often spend hours on a weekend evening listening to Glen! I can sincerely say, what a wonderful job Julianne! Thank you Petersen family for bringing back the sweet memories! 🙏💕
@RuFing Crazy I often got so jealous when my father spoke of those days. I feel I’m an old spirit & I would have been in my element from the 40’s through the 80’s. I was always endeared by the likes of Campbell, Jones & Nelson & many other Country artists from that generation. I miss him....
It's like passing the torch. Dad used to play the bass. Mom played the mandolin. Then Julienne grew up and played the mandolin, and Mom played the bass. Dad can just sit back, relax and enjoy the music.

How can she be so cute, and have so much talent ? Sweet voice. Beautiful group. They are all so positive and peaceful.
Not only is their mother an excellent musician but she seems very humble. Gotta love mothers!
Staying in the shadows so that the others get more of our attention.
I found this fabulous family several weeks ago online and seem to be unable to listen to anything else. God graced you all with such amazing talent and thank you for sharing it with all of us.
When you hear a song sung and played like that, You know it doesna get any better
I needed this! Watching this country fall is so sad....but there is hope - in people who love the Lord Jesus, like the Petersens.
Every time I listen to this young lady and her band sing and play this song, I feel better, they have helped me feel better about 50 times so far.
I feel better too.
Jeff Orr totally agree
And this young lady even stole the show back in 2011! Here is Julianne back then! ruclips.net/video/gLp-lLfPWZA/видео.html
@@deanchampion6777 Best wishes, brother.
@@MarkWilsonMSW : I'm feeling much better. But being treated now for some serious liver thing. Ah, the fun never ends... LOL.
But now that I'm conscious again, time for some more Petersens.
I'm a "newbie" and I am blown away!!!!!
As a big Glen Campbell fan I can tell you this is one of the best covers of this song that you’ll hear. Her voice makes it sound surreal.
She is so pure and refreshing, I'm sure Glen would approve, wholeheartedly !!! 🥰
It's pleasing to realize that the songs from that era have not been abandoned.
Thanks for the memories, kids (and mom!)...I believe Glen would have loved to hear your rendition...and maybe he just did! ;)
Jerry Glazener, Capt. USMC, ret...and still picking in Texas!
Captain, first of all thank you for your service to our great country.
I would like to refer you to John Hartford's version of this song if you haven't already heard it. He is the writer of the song and an immensely talented musician.
Blessings to you sir...
Thanks for serving!!

I can't help but watching Ellen so off-the-charts proud of her little sister!!! Great Job Julianne!!! your voice is gold.
I keep drifting back to this. Julianne's voice has some magical, addictive quality to it.
Yes I’m the same way! Love it!!!
Glad you said that...I couldn't think of the words to say it myself, Jeddy
you kin hear her sweet accent - ' iver gentle on mah mind
Back again. lol
Her voice is very addictive and unique (in a really good way) and has hooked me. She doesn’t seem to think much of her voice but she’s got the thing. She adds so much to the vocals in the mix too.
need about 10 million more families like this
One of the happiest songs on RUclips...beautiful..
A day does not pass without me listening to this epic performance. It always makes me smile! Probably the most attractive family on the Planet
No matter the sunshine...
...your smiles somehow shine even brighter! 😍
I have listend to this about 210 times from the day you guys put this out, I will continue to listen.
Innocence and purity still exists. Thank you Peterson family.
All of your songs bring me to tears - such purity - such honesty - just as it should be. Your family are blessed above and beyond.
David Duff, completely agree
I thought it was just me!
Amen brother!
I also thought it was just me. Hearing them play, and particularly this song, warms my soul.
I wish I had had a loving family like this family. They can't take their eyes off each other. So much devotion and admiration.
So good! What a humble talented family!❤️❤️❤️❤️

I listen to this song almost every day. It's so beautiful
Sarah, I too have listened to this wonderful song about once a day for the last several months. One of the strongest magnets for me is the way that each instrument and the vocals are so well presented. You can pick any one and hear them play with clarity throughout this performance. Very well done guys.
Me too. It's so comforting and uplifting.
This may be the most covered song in history, but no one has ever done it better. I'm glad they gave this young lady the lead on it!
This family has a habit of taking songs and lifts them to whole another level beyond the original artist.
Yes!
I cannot love this version of this classic song enough. I've been listening to it everyday for the past week-and-a-half. It's just...phenomenal and perfect.
Julianne, you have one of the most amazing voices I've ever heard - You are Awesome - Love your Smile Thanks!!!
With every song I hear, my favorite member changes. A new dimension arises with every tune!
This is so beautiful. Glen Campbell would be so proud. True Americana music.
I'm listening again, just loving it more every time, musically brilliant Julianne perfect.
So glad I discovered y’all on RUclips a month ago. Some of the most beautiful music out there
Glad you are enjoying it!
Pretty wild... I discovered them about a month ago too! My wife and I have a cabin near Branson and we're going to have to try and catch them next summer!
Yeah, finally a proper suggestion by YT, subscribed after watching(hearing) two clips lol
Matt Atkins Yeah RUclips has opened up a great many talented musicians for me too 💁🏻♀️🇦🇺
Julianne, you must know this is one of the most beautiful songs that Glen Campbell ever sang! My father was a good friend of Glen back in the early days in California and my father & I would often spend hours on a weekend evening listening to Glen! I can sincerely say, what a wonderful job Julianne! Thank you Petersen family for bringing back the sweet memories! 🙏💕
she sang southern nights extremely beautiful too
@RuFing Crazy I often got so jealous when my father spoke of those days. I feel I’m an old spirit & I would have been in my element from the 40’s through the 80’s. I was always endeared by the likes of Campbell, Jones & Nelson & many other Country artists from that generation. I miss him....
simply beautiful music 😊😊
At the end of the day, I wind down listening to this great rendition, so eloquent, so gentle on my mind.
Gentle On My Mind has long been a favorite song of mine and one that I wish I could have written. This is one of the best versions I've ever heard.
BEST VERSION OF THIS SONG I HAVE EVER HERD! I have to keep coming back here to listen. John Hartford and Glenn Campbell are smiling.
Have you heard their live concert version too? ruclips.net/video/jrdbh1xpesM/видео.html
The love I see in this family, could make me weep.
I love her voice and this family.
Must have watched and listened to this video at least 100 times now and still love it !!❤
I always liked this song, but now I love it! The lead singer phrased every line wonderfully. Beautiful job👍🏼
just stumbled on this , hauntingly beautiful......
Glen would be so proud of your rendition of Gentle On My Mind. You guys are so awesome. I'm a follower for years now.
It's like passing the torch. Dad used to play the bass. Mom played the mandolin. Then Julienne grew up and played the mandolin, and Mom played the bass. Dad can just sit back, relax and enjoy the music.
Something about that girl. She is electric. So great.
