Meav and Orla's lovely mezzo-soprano voices blend with the superb orchestration for a moving and memorable listening experience. Happy Birthday, Jesus.
@@anandanjohnsimon3571 Seems if a man would say "two lovely ladies" to describe them makes him creepy these days. Glad I'm way too old to play the games now. lol
@@chrisb7198 thank you for your feedback and I'm 47 years myself. If it's wrong GOD wouldn't have created women as such and if it's creepy to compliment women for their beauty then they should cover their faces or go for surgery making them look hideous. Just an opinion have a good year ahead and GOD bless🙏
The two composers who wrote this couldn't perform it during the time they wrote it because they wrote this song as a call for peace during the Cuban Missile Crisis. It's way more impactful than I initially envisioned.
I've not heard the heavenly choir yet but these ladies have the voices of angels. Any song they sing sounds like it came from above. Beautiful ladies, beautiful dresses, beautiful voices everyone of them
It has been a VERY long time since a version of a song has reduced me to tears They sound like 2 angels singing Absolute BEST version I have ever heard Thank you for blessing us all with your beautiful voices they are true gifts
I just discovered this a few weeks ago. This has always been my favorite Christmas song. I got to sing it with my youth group many years ago. My best memory of this song was performing it at The Magic Kingdom in the cast choir during the candlelight service (back in the days before I lost my singing voice). Since I was a soprano and one of the four shortest, I got to stand at the top of the tree (risers) which made me the closest to the guest speaker which happened to be James Earl Jones. You can't beat having him do the narration of the nativity before and after singing this song. This version, with Orla and Maeve is now my favorite version. Celtic Women is my favorite singing group.
My all time favorite Christmas song..... No song best makes me think back on that night when Christ was born and through the Goosebumps the song gives me understand and actually feel the love God had given us on that night.
This song has a haunting melody that has transfixed me. I have reviewed all the youtube versions of "Do you hear what I hear" including versions by iconic singers Bing Crosby, Perry Como and Andy Williams. Yet I continually return to Orla and Maev's version. Not only is it performed with reverence and purity, the beautiful women not only reflect their love of the music and lyrics, but also their respect and affection for each other. This was evident in their beginning to rhythmically dance while performing the song. They also individually interacted directly with the audience after the song, expressing their appreciation for sharing their music with them. The applause they received was telling. A very beautiful experience.
This is a beautiful rendition of a wonderful song. We should also remember that we celebrate the birth at Christmas of Emmanuel, God with us. At Easter we come to the reason for this birth. God died for us, that we might be reconciled to Him. Without the death and resurrection, the birth is just a birth.

when a song and a voice can bring you to tears, you know its special.
James, you were perfect with your words. This song it is very special and bring us to tears. Listening from Brazil.

The chord changes have just as much to do with it - music moves the soul.
Love the song Love the Celtic Women Merry Christmas everyone
My favorite version of this song by two world-class vocalists. And two of the best vocalists ever to sing as Celtic Woman.

Amazing great job ladies! One of my favorite songs ever
Said the night wind to the little lamb
Do you see what I see
Way up in the sky, little lamb
Do you see what I see
A star, a star, dancing in the night
With a tail as big as a kite
With a tail as big as a kite
Said the little lamb to the shepherd boy
Do you hear what I hear
Ringing through the sky, shepherd boy
Do you hear what I hear
A song, a song, high above the trees
With a voice as big as the sea
With a voice as big as the sea
Said the shepherd boy to the mighty king
Do you know what I know
In your palace warm, mighty king
Do you know what I know
A Child, a Child shivers in the cold
Let us bring Him silver and gold
Let us bring Him silver and gold
Said the king to the people everywhere
Listen to what I say
Pray for peace, people everywhere
Listen to what I say
The Child, the Child, sleeping in the night
He will bring us goodness and light
He will bring us goodness and light
Do you hear what I hear
Do you hear what I hear
Thanks

This is my all time favorite Christmas song. I fell in love with it in elementary school when we sang it at our Christmas program.
Me, too! I was just going to say that when I saw your comment. I sang this with my 5th grade choir when I was a kid. ^_^
That's the same grade I was in when we sang it.
Sherrill Hinton
Now you have me wondering if we sang it together all those years ago? Heh. Anyway, Happy New Year to you and yours.
