Hi John. I have been watching your videos on and off since 2015 and I am super impressed that you take the time to give such a long, detailed and genuine response.

I have been eating less and less since the time I started visiting Wagyu ranches in 2017. Comparably, Japanese do not eat a lot of beef. It’s rarely the main dish. Meat is a flavor enhancer mostly. However, since about 2016 when places like Ikinari Steak chains started popping up with super cheap meat meals, it seems men in particular are consuming way more beef. It’s concerning for sure. Most of that meat seems imported - but per capita, it’s got to be a fraction of the west. Portions are so small when you do get meat, but it would be interesting to do an actual study on it, see the trend for heart disease too. For brand meat like Yonezawa, the quality is good. To give a comment. The wagyu prices are cheap when compared to the US. The Met in downtown Seattle charges probably 5 times thos prices. My real comment though. Happy to John doing food and locations again. I love his videos where he does the odd location video showing local dance (or even local crafts). Absolutely love the video that Sharmelon stole a week later - she took his video idea. Like sharm, but John Daub is more real. John has done some odd things, that even I am not so sure about. But when he does things that are worth noting, his reactions are more real to what you and I would experience. I have spent ungodly amounts of money on Wagyu, simply because it makes me feel great afterwards(never experienced this, don't comment. Frankly I would never have thought good food made you feel that different for 3 days to a week. When celebrities say they feel better than you, it is their diet. If I could afford this everyday, I'd be on cloud 9 Maybe 10 every single day. A5 wagyu and all the other perks of being rich. It is great, or so I assume as I have only touched their l lifestyle.
She came with me to Ginzan Onsen right after this! With a baby, it is not easy to work but you are right - I’m glad they came! After I filmed this, she traveled on the Shinkansen with Leo and I picked her up. See the last video for the results :)
I love this video! Thank you very much for producing this! One huge question I have for you: how much wagyu beef is exported to Canada and/or USA? I am tired of seeing "wagyu hamburgers" on restaurant menus, knowing it can’t possibly be wagyu! Thank you in advance for your reply. I am from Canada 🇨🇦.
CC turned on help with the translation. The prices very depending on what type and the cut of the 🥩 you want to get. And prices very at Restaurants to depending where you get the Wayu 🥩 . I would get them for special occasion or festival time. Between 20 and 40 not bad prices if you get more be over $100. A certain 📺 commercial Where’s the 🥩 it’s in Yamagata Okitama area. 🥩🇯🇵👍 📸
Nice episode with all the info about wagyu. Nice to see the gradings side by side. Took me a few visits to Japan before i discovered other top meat then the classic kobe. As for pricing you pay $30-40 per 100g here in sweden for a5
Right! Kobe Beef is good but it’s often the only brand known. Other regions have beef that may suit your taste pallet better. Worth traveling Japan for it. WOW!! Sweden has pricy A5! Is it a certain brand or just Japanese GI stamped? Hmm ..
@@onlyinjapan Usually its just gi stamped, sometimes they specify the perfecture, usually kagoshima or gunma as far as i've seen here. And every now and then we can find real kobe.

Here in the Netherlands you pay $300 for a kilo of A5 Rib-Eye
Stamping that meat looks so satisfying LOL
I know! The sound of a perfect stamp, like hitting a home run in baseball, the ping of the ball on the hat.
I hope John brought Kanae with him or his reception coming home is gonna be colder than the weather in Yonezawa. LOL
She came with me to Ginzan Onsen right after this! With a baby, it is not easy to work but you are right - I’m glad they came! After I filmed this, she traveled on the Shinkansen with Leo and I picked her up. See the last video for the results :)
I can only dream to try this
John I demand a full documentary about Toyoda's manufacturing in Japan.
Can’t get access - yet. Still trying.
@@onlyinjapan I believe in you John. :]
John I Love Wagyu Beef I Tried Yakiniku At Hurstville BBQ & I Tried Teppanyaki
Love it
I love this video!
the prices are outlandish...but I'll reserve my final judgement for after I get to try A5 rated steak...someday 😋
What are you comparing it too?
When can I come to Japan for some wagyu?😔
Great episode as alwaus John.
I hope someday I'll get to try a A5 steak. (Even a tiny bite)
Until then I'll have to live vicariously through you.😊
Nice episode with all the info about wagyu.
