Slipknot has become nothing more than a corporation. I've loved this band and these guys since 99 when I was 18. Its really sad to see them go from what they stood for back then to the typical generic Rockstar Hollywood types. When you find out that Corey and Shawn basically own the band and every other member is considered hired help it really makes respect for them dwindle. I still like them musically for the most part (TESF wasn't great imo especially since it had 4 Stone Sour songs at the end of it and I was never the guy who compared the two) but I don't love them like I did. Nowhere near. Its really sad when all your heros are dead. At least Chris can sit back and collect those royalties.
Clown nearly owns the band but I'm sorry his artistic visions are hot garbage. Not to mention his collaboration with Balenciaga? Like, wtf ? These were the guys who hated on Korn's drummer for being in an ADIDAS ad. I love the band I truly do but Corey's ego is getting out of hand & Shawn is honestly pretty worthless.
Dude, if they want to make living out of making, you gotta have a leader and on business side, do you really believe that everyone would be owners of the band? While in garage and you form band, you don’t really think about these things, but when machine starts rolling, you get big, you get tour dates all over the globe, you get a record deal, it has to be branded. I have group of friends who started making living out of making and performing music, they tried to be all owners of the band on paper and it was a mistake for them since they had to pay more taxes and it’s legally much more frustrating, so they made only a drummer an owner, and others are “hired guns”, literally on paper they are session musicians, yet they are all equal between each other
@jonazz48 According to Corey, he and clown own the band, and everyone else is a hired gun. Couldn't be less equal!! We know who's getting all the money clown and Corey
With Corey saying recently that he basically just goes in and punch in and out, makes me think there is a lot going on behind the scene. Honestly unless things change, im sorta just indifferent to Slipknot now.. the latest album didnt do anything for me
Agreed. They've become a corporation instead of a band. When I learned that Corey and Shawn basically own the band and every other member is considered hired help i lost any remaining respect i had. I was a hardcore fan since 99 so it really sucks to see them go from the message they were about to the cliche rock star Hollywood types most have become. Basically anyone who isn't Corey or Shawn have to walk on eggshells and tow the company line or get released from their contract. It really is so sad to see. TESF to me seemed like they literally threw some isht together to get out of that 7 album contract with Roadrunner. Its got a handful of ok stuff but the last 4 songs belonged on Stone Sours House of Gold and Bone imo. I was never that guy who compared the two bands but those 4 songs weren't Slipknot songs imo. Really I think everything went wrong after they sold out on Vol 3 imo. Sure they were screwed up really bad for those first two albums but at least they had their integrity.
@@buddykaiser2380 I agree. I’m also a big time fan since 99 and I do remember Vol.3 was when the band gained huge success.. they had always done great but that album pushed them in a more mainstream direction. We should honestly be counting ourselves lucky it took this long before we started losing core members. Hate to say it, but the remaining guys were always the most talented dudes. They’re gonna reload and keep going
Rumor has it, from Iowa, that the reason this happened was because Chris was not getting a proper cut of the money. This is because Shawn and Corey are the only actual members of Slipknot. Everyone else is an independent contractor...
Chris was one of my favorite members. Seeing im a Chris to lol Anyways he always brought so much energy to the stage and made it so much more better to watch them live. And he's always had such a awesome personality, joking around smiling enjoying life being a kind hearted person that anyone could identify with, instead of being a edgy stuck up asshole like so many other people are in the metal world.
Man it’s a shame. I hope in the end all members still show love to each other. Got a fun story… years ago a buddy of mine got to see them at the Glass House in Pomona Cali. This was back when the band was still a mystery, my buddy @ 17yrs was in the crowd watching the show He says he made total eye contact with Chris #3 and then he did a Front flip directly into Him slamming his foot into my Buddies Face. When he came to school on Monday he had a Huge black eye to show off with a Bad ass story to tell! He wore it like a proud battle scare. 😈
Glad he seems to be in good spirits. I hope one day we’ll see him do a cameo during a song or 2 like Jason Newstead and Adam Gontier did after they had their falling out with Metallica and Three Days Grace but who knows
Still wish I coulda seen slipknot live with all their original members. He even said that its like a ball of cancer that you can step out of for a bit and shake that shit off for a little while. So that right there was a foreshadow of how he was feeling even at that time. But, awesome that Chris is doing great and will always remember him in Slipknot and excited to see what he does in the future for music. Long live Slipknot 🤘🤘
Joey was busy doing his own thing and didn't want to make time for them. They wanted to get back in the studio. Joey had to go. Also jay is better artistically. Joey was just speed and the last they had played with him, he wasn't even able to play! He had to be helped on and off of the stage for fucks sakes. His body couldn't physically handle a tour again. Did you see how out of shape he was before he passed? He had to have gained at least 50 pounds. He refused to make time and physically he was questionable.
@Jarrad Bruessel I feel like this is fair, but he was artistically different, not inferior, and he contributed a lot more than drums as well. I just wish they'd drop this brotherhood crap, they're all corporate now, it doesn't mean anything to anyone in that band
@@JarradBruessel32 Hard to be in shape when you can't move properly. And he couldn't play drums properly as a drummer. Imagine what that does to someone mentally. He had transverse mytilitis.
@@JarradBruessel32 WTF... Hes one of the greatest drum players of our era, not only speed but also very technical and creative with his fills. Now let's see if you can do anything physical with a spinal cord inflammation, bet you can't even leave your bed, yet he was still trying to play even with help on and off the stage. Slipknot would never get to where they are without joey jordison. You clearly don't know what you're talking about.
One of the down side of a Band being so successful is that they become a corporate machine. And when that happens everyone wants, what they see as their fair share of the loot. Ace Frehley and Peter Criss and Mick Mars are perfect examples of that.
I love how people say "Slipknot died when paul, chris and joey. They were the OGs!" Which isnt true. Jim wasnt an original member. Sid wasnt an original member. Chris wasnt an original member. If you wanna talk about originals, you got Clown, Mick, Josh, Cuddles, Anders, Joey, and Paul. Theres your OGs. But to make a long story short. Band evolution is important. I mean hell, if things didn't change and anders never left, they probably wouldve left small venues in iowa. Corey coming in saved them, and gave them a chance at stardom. Gave them a future. Joey leaving gave Jay a shot. Which hes done a phenomenal job. Paul passed which was sad, but gave Vman a chance to join and look at the last two albums hes been on he has KILLED it on bass. Would've made Paul proud. Then you got Micheal Pfaff. Chris left but, now you got a guy that has more energy and has great stage presence and adds new energy to the band. Evolution and bands changing members isnt always a bad thing. People saying "oh they arent the same after so and so left" just make me laugh. You still have Mick, you still have clown, you still have Craig, Sid and you still have Corey. You got the core members left. Theyre still going strong and if in a few years another member leaves, so be it. Theyre still gonna do well, theyre still gonna tour and make millions and their legacy will live on forever. After many of us are long gone..
Slipknot is CLOWN'S (Shawn's) baby, if you all think Corey is the one calling the shots, you're all wrong. Slipknot's core Members are Shawn, Joey and Paul, the latter two are gone from this life, it's basically Clown deciding everything. Even Corey had enough, stating in his last interview that Slipknot is CLOWN'S baby, and he's taking time away from Slipknot indefinitely. Just think, don't believe everything you hear.
He did as a live performer, though. He had always been the big party of their gigs and one of the most recognised member of the band beside Corey and maybe Joey/Mick/Jim.
@@die_flugel_der_freiheit7382 I agree, but he was if anything a very small part of the actual writing music part, and Clown was literally the one that handled most if not all of the business shit. Most of the songs were written by Paul and Joey anyway.
@@die_flugel_der_freiheit7382 I wasnt trying to say others arent replaceable per se, just stating a fact. If you alter the core dynamic of song writers or contributers, the band can change drastically. That can obviously be good or bad. I still love Slipknot and I'm that kind of fan that focus on music and not their personal life or issue. I sincerely hope Chris got a good opportunity out there, and I hope Paul and Joey are happy now, and I also hope Craig leave for personal reason, not like having beef with them or anything. Still love them all dearly including new members. New members did not deserve the hate.
nobody talks about how Paul was ignored during the time when his wife was trying to set up an intervention with all the members & family included. About a week before his death Brenna reached out to every member about Paul’s intervention and she wanted them to be a part of it, yet they all ignored her and one member was playing golf 2 minutes away from the day of the intervention. Then a week later he passed, Just kinda proves some more about the bs that band used to ignore.
That’s not all that much when you’re used to bringing in a million or more per year, per member, at least the OG crew. The new guy’s probably don’t have the same splits
Well he can at least say he WAS in Slipknot. That is better than all of us who aren't. Dude needs to start his own band now. And Sinsaenium and Murderdolls still KICK ASS. R.I.P JOEY AND PAUL.
I get the vibe that he may have been genuinely disgruntled, but I don't think we'll ever truly know if it was justified. Can't judge positively or negatively on either end when it comes to money. Both or neither of them could be consumed by greed. We'll never know the full story. Isn't Capitalism great? /s In any case I think the band is genuinely still going strong, even if I thought "The End, So Far" was good, but still got outshined by "We Are Not Your Kind." I like the experimentation they're still doing cause it keeps the music fresh, but WANYK landed it better.
I miss Chris and his contributions to the live performances. It just isn't the same. Sure, it isn't tortillaman's fault, but an iconic piece of the Knot is gone. And with Craig no longer in Slipknot, we've lost half of Slipknot [Paul, Joey, Chris, Craig].

I second this statement as someone who also followed the knot in the early years.
Hell yeah 🤘 couldnt of said it better myself
Clown nearly owns the band but I'm sorry his artistic visions are hot garbage. Not to mention his collaboration with Balenciaga? Like, wtf ? These were the guys who hated on Korn's drummer for being in an ADIDAS ad. I love the band I truly do but Corey's ego is getting out of hand & Shawn is honestly pretty worthless.
@@Knailz Well said! Not only is Corey's ego getting out of hand, his politics also ruined it for me.
"Stone Sour songs?" Bahahahhaha 😅😂
Miss Chris in Slipknot. Good to hear his is doing well.
Chris was still in the slipknot I grew up listening to. You’re awesome Chris!
I love Slipknot. It sucks I never get to see Joey and Chris live.
Everyone knows Corey and Clown own that band, literally!!
Clown is the only founder left and Corey’s been the frontman for 25 years
Dude, if they want to make living out of making, you gotta have a leader and on business side, do you really believe that everyone would be owners of the band? While in garage and you form band, you don’t really think about these things, but when machine starts rolling, you get big, you get tour dates all over the globe, you get a record deal, it has to be branded. I have group of friends who started making living out of making and performing music, they tried to be all owners of the band on paper and it was a mistake for them since they had to pay more taxes and it’s legally much more frustrating, so they made only a drummer an owner, and others are “hired guns”, literally on paper they are session musicians, yet they are all equal between each other
@6sic610 when they finally broke out, there were 9 members, not 2. Those two would never have made it without the whole band. Especially without Joey!
@jonazz48 According to Corey, he and clown own the band, and everyone else is a hired gun. Couldn't be less equal!! We know who's getting all the money clown and Corey
@@waltermiller249 dude did you even read what I said? It’s legally easier to have fewer members as owners of a band simply put.
When I think of Slipknot, fehn is one of the top 5 maybe even less that comes to mind first. Thank you for all the years you dedicated to Slipknot
With Corey saying recently that he basically just goes in and punch in and out, makes me think there is a lot going on behind the scene. Honestly unless things change, im sorta just indifferent to Slipknot now.. the latest album didnt do anything for me
Slipknot has changed a lot and I feel the same way.. the last album was nothing special I listened to it once and probably won’t again
After that is when I think it really started to become more of a company or brand then a band.. and the original message they pushed and what they were all about had been lost by the time AHIG dropped… as far as TESF I’d say there’s 3 songs that are ok at best and yea I definitely felt then Stone Sour vibes in many of the tracks especially the last ones.
The Worst So Far
@@buddykaiser2380 they were pushing out an album so that way they could get out from underneath the thumb of the record label. They now are independent again and can produce the music they really want to again.

And now Jay! 😢
I'm interested to see what he does next his role in Slipknot was very unique. I wish him the best of luck
was not the same without Joey and Paul and the Chris story finaly pushed me over the edge. I stopped following Slipknot after that...
Chris had the best back up vocals.
Him and Joey will always be my favorite members.
Agree with you! Cool stroy as well :)
Glad he seems to be in good spirits. I hope one day we’ll see him do a cameo during a song or 2 like Jason Newstead and Adam Gontier did after they had their falling out with Metallica and Three Days Grace but who knows
I suspect dealing with various addictions & fame just being loaded with more legal issues & such.... Go easy on them all. ❤🖤

Still wish I coulda seen slipknot live with all their original members. Now seeing Craig left, it sucks not seeing the unbreakable 9 that I grew up admiring on my computer screen, makes it seem like they aren’t really the brotherhood I thought they were as a kid but I guess that’s part of growing up
Guess what, you were right Chris…
Being a company or not after so many years together these attitudes of the band of firing members is ridiculous , ungrateful and low.
Yea but after suing your own bandmates for money they didn’t steal from him how did you expect them to react?

Even on the interview he admits. I don’t practice, I just hit the drum or keg. We had Joey so I had it easy and didn’t have to do anything. Smart man
I am paraphrasing here, but Chris said in another interview awhile back while still in slipknot that when he gets away from the band, he gets away lol.
When Paul passed away, so did the *Nine*… Slipknot isn’t family anymore, it’s what’s best for business
Live long n still love phiniccio
Ever since Joey got kicked out this band has fallen off HARD, I dont think Slipknot could a good song to save their lives at this point
The thing is that he was diagnosed with acute transverse myelitis, reason why slipknot had to move on without him at that time. Now let's see if you can do anything physical with a spinal cord inflammation, bet you can't even leave your bed, yet he was still trying to play even with help on and off the stage. Slipknot would never get to where they are without joey jordison. You clearly don't know what you're talking about.
@@aitokoojii1462 exactly. So why would they continue on with him?
Love you Chris. 🤘🔥
3:03 for the point of the video
One of the down side of a Band being so successful is that they become a corporate machine. And when that happens everyone wants, what they see as their fair share of the loot.
Ace Frehley and Peter Criss and Mick Mars are perfect examples of that.
Comparing Mick to ace
We miss you to Chris
I hope Chris and Craig return to Slipknot in 2024 for the Self titled 25th anniversary tour
So he basically said nothing. Thanks.
He said Fck off!
Not to take away anything you just so eloquently said....but you made me think of Megadeth when you were talking about core members and going strong.
1 2 3 and 5
I bet Sid or James are next
Craig is no longer in the band now too 😞
Everything will change
Just accept it
If you doesn't like it
Just leave it
Love music
Man his mask was my favorite..☹
Slipknot is CLOWN'S (Shawn's) baby, if you all think Corey is the one calling the shots, you're all wrong. Slipknot's core Members are Shawn, Joey and Paul, the latter two are gone from this life, it's basically Clown deciding everything. Even Corey had enough, stating in his last interview that Slipknot is CLOWN'S baby, and he's taking time away from Slipknot indefinitely. Just think, don't believe everything you hear.
Chris Fehn was given a raw deal & as #3 will ALWAYS be a part of Slipknot. Clown should have defended him & Corey needs an attitude adjustment.
The problem with that is that Clown is right there with Corey.
Don't bite the hand they feeds man. I get Fehns stance, but considered he didn't add much to the process it wasn't a smart move.
I love the guy, I miss the original 9, but realistically he had a dream gig, made money hand over fist, and still decided to gripe over money.
@@die_flugel_der_freiheit7382 The sad truth is that he was easily a replaceable member. The money made should always be proportional to your contributions to the entity.
@@skeptischism1324 I’m pretty sure all the big bands share money equally and I don’t think Slipknot is a small regional gig. Also each of them has been mentioned as a writer on their albums.
Being easily replaceable? I don’t know, I’m pretty sure you can replace anyone, but Corey in the band, because his vocals are quite recognizable, majority of people won’t care about the rest as long as he sings the songs and the other guys wear masks and let’s be honest, none of the Slipknot guys is genuinely talented or skilled musician.
Again im not trying to slam the guy, aside from Jim and Sid he was my fave to watch live, but still. Id argue he was compensated beyond fairly.
I love you Chris fehn. you are going to be in my skin

He's still getting something around 100 to 200k a year from royalties I imagine. He will be fine.

R.I.P JOEY AND PAUL.
Way classier than Corey was about it.
I get the vibe that he may have been genuinely disgruntled, but I don't think we'll ever truly know if it was justified. Can't judge positively or negatively on either end when it comes to money. Both or neither of them could be consumed by greed. We'll never know the full story.
Isn't Capitalism great? /s
In any case I think the band is genuinely still going strong, even if I thought "The End, So Far" was good, but still got outshined by "We Are Not Your Kind." I like the experimentation they're still doing cause it keeps the music fresh, but WANYK landed it better.
Well, now we got Craig
I miss Chris and his contributions to the live performances. It just isn't the same. Sure, it isn't tortillaman's fault, but an iconic piece of the Knot is gone. And with Craig no longer in Slipknot, we've lost half of Slipknot [Paul, Joey, Chris, Craig].
Stopped supporting slipkock after the Fehn incident. Corey Taylor is the modern day Lars Ulrich, which if you know anything about Lars you know it’s a bad thing.
Yeah, that guy gives me real creep vibes. I only get money hungry vibes from Lars, and a big ego, which is the norm for rock stars that big I think. Corey was the 34 year old creepazoid, still trying to get high school kid friends. That's the vibe I get from him. Total creep imo. He's a pedo basically and he's the reason why I definitely can't get into Slipkock lol, I like that.
It's true. He even admitted to saying bands should get paid more for streaming etc. It's all about money now. Sad that it goes from doing it cause you enjoy it and make a living to being about the money cause fuck the fans and enjoyment. Music is written to share your emotions and feelings. Making money is a bonus imo. (Wrote this half asleep.)
@@brettwatson7573 so your upset that corey thinks bands in General should make more money off of streaming? stfu that’s not a selfish greedy statement, if he didn’t care about the music he wouldn’t be making music rn, just cause he’s not making classics at the same rate doesn’t mean he’s a sellout. there’s 9 members in slipknot you really think none of them besides him get a say?

When Paul Grey died that is when Slipknot fell apart far as it's core and unity I didn't like the way they (with Chris) did Joey long before he passed kicking him out of the band but they should have been honest about the reason and cause to the supporters who actually buy their music and shows

Speaking from experience of over 30 years in the band world . This is the stuff that is hard to deal with but very common. I've never been on the end of getting kicked out, but i've involved in kicking out members. It sucks and It's usually never been about the music. That's what you say though.
