If Harry & Criss pulled up beside me at a traffic light . my first thought would be , Someone slipped me some LSD ? Imagine hanging out with these to for a day ! it wouldn't suck . or take one of my cars & show them some outstanding roads to drive . I think I'll wake up now !
The Veyron Super Sport is the ultimate car. Period. It doesn't matter if it is stripped of its title of "Fastest Car"... its the quality, and the pure passion for the ultimate incarnation of a car that makes this thing so much better than any Venom and SSC. A Koenigsegg Agera comes close, but this thing has truly been engineered to the maximum in every area. Bugatti... I salute you!
I am actually surprised the Veyron SS is faster on 'a track' than the cars you mentioned. If true; I admit, it is king. That said, the Zonda R is a work of engineering art and more so than the Veyron...imo.
+Max Power Technically he's right. The SuperSport and its convertible version were the last variants of the car. Those ''30 more variations'' as you call them, were mostly special editions. The Veyron actually only comes in a few models from what I recall. The standard car with a convertible version (Grand Sport) and then the SuperSport with the convertible version called the Grand Sport Vitesse. These models are the BASE cars for the dozens of special editions they brought out.
You are right Bugatti is not a proper super car it is Ultimate super car!!! 860hp Ferrari? you are talking about track car that use racing fuel, most u can see on street is Ferrari enzo with 660 bhp. How you can claim its only good in straight line, are you going to push any car to the limit on a street to feel a difference? Plus this is SS in the video 1200 bhp and one of fastest cars ever tested on top gear.
Well they went for a W16 to make it more compact as a V16 would be bigger, and it needs this many cylinders to make the power smoother as a V8 (like in the Venom) would be a lot less refined and would have make it feel like a heavily tuned car, but let's not forget that this car Veyron is a pretty old car by now so maybe the next car (if they ever make a new one) will probably have a smaller-ish engine like a V12.
The claim was verified by Pierre-Henri Raphanel, Bugatti test drive. In his interview with 0-60 magazine, he made five runs with the same tires on Ehra Leissen above 400 km/h (confirmed by James May mentioning the 37 miles total lifespan of tires at high speed). Another test was done by Michelin with tires sustaining 440 km/h (it might be higher now around 450 km/h). Add also the tarmac into equation above 260 mph, a slight mistake at that speed means instant death.
The numbers doesn't even tell half the story. The Bugatti is made to last 10, 20 or 30 years without having mechanical breakdowns or services every 500 miles. That is the thing that's truly remarkable about this car. It's built to withstand the years, the other two aren't. In short, numbers don't do cars well. You have to look at the whole picture. It's a shame people can't behave while trying to make a point, by the way.
I absoluetly agree. People don't get it that veyron is a GT car first and theres no lightweight GT cars - Bentley GT, Aston martins, merc SL, Jaguar XK etc. they are all heavy 4000lbs cars because of luxury, high end stereo, lots of soundproofing etc. And despite being the GT car it can keep up with most performance only oriented hypercars both on straight and track. And thats what makes the veyron ultimate - no compromises.
I still think the SSC Aero and the Venom GT are un-compareable to the Veyron, Both in quality, handling and reliability. The Veyron is the ultimate car designed in Europe which concludes top quality and a supreme engine + gearbox which took over 5 years to design. The result, a car that cannot be matched to anything. If we look at the Americans, Their thought was: Power to weight ratio so they took a Twin Turbo Viper 7,2L engine and put it in a light Lotus chassi, which do you prefear?
Theres not many modern lambos, ferraris, GT-R's etc. that have that much mileage on them - its very rare occasion like one out of couple of thousand. People who own veyron didn't buy it because they had to choose between this or that - if they want they can buy also agera-r and a plane hangar full of all the other supercars. They have private jets, villas around the world etc. Its only the average youtube dumbass who would buy lambo, put turbos on it and buy the big mac for the money left over.
Veyron engine is good for 3000hp. It is turned down to have bulletproof reliability. Veyron SS with biggest mileage has allmost 100k miles on it allready which is huge for a car like that. All those tuned pieces of shits may be fast when they work but everybody knows how unreliable heavily tuned cars are - not to mention that the chasssis, brakes etc. are not meant for such forces. When you tune you take all the risks yourself but factorys have responsibilty in front of every customer.
if you look at dragtimes you see there ams gtr's are 2 years old and running fine you have a point with how long it will do it but if we look at the prices its worth more to fix a gtr over a time laps of 3 to 4 years than a bugatti for 1,8 mil BUT fuck it we both love the gtr and the ss so why the fuck are we doing this ;p you are the first one i seen who knows shit about cars i will give you that much
i love the gtr more than the ss BUT a 1500hp gtr WILL NOT last for 2 years, ams could claim a lot but the fact is that the alpha omega has a 4 litre v6 and thats not enough to deliver such an monstrous amount of pover for a long period of time. koenigseggs and bugattis are build to deliver a lot for a very long time (i dont know if there was any engine failure on them so far) because they are build for that. they could do at leat 2000hp but for how long? ;)
Chris Harris almost without words... funny. But you can really see the lack of occasion. When he drove the new 911 Carrera S or the 2012 Nissan GT-R he could push it. To push it in a Veyron is something like suicide. For those, who admire other supercars: yeah there are a lot of great cars - however the Veyron is in a whole new territory! It is a milestone. And it is even pretty easy and save to drive.
well then any car with a turbocharger is the same? thats generalizing.. UGR just takes a car with the same engine, puts a turbo and thats pretty much it. This bugatti was designed from scratch with those turbochargers.. its not the same concept it any way. its like saying that man with a rifle is just the same as the boy who was just given the rifle. get what i mean?
yes look no doubt i like the bugatti BUT with 16 cilinders and 4 turbo's you would expect more than only 1200 hp when a gtr (modded) delivers 1500 hp at the wheels and that you will be smoked for 5% of the cost by the gtr when you pay 1,8 mil for the ss, its not worth it so no my love is for ams gtr or ugr gallardo
by "this guy" you mean Chris Harris? listen, dont even THINK about comparing a 2mil £ hyper car with a tuned lambo that is not even MADE to hold 1500hp... you have no idea of what kind of engineering genius it takes to create a car such as Veyron SS. its quite on the other level from putting a huge turbo in a lambo...
well... it's said koenigsegg doesn't give many ageras for TV testing, i actually only found 3 vids with the agera being tested, one was swedish. the supersport has being tested way more + it has the reputation of the fastest production car ever made. the agera still has to be tested.
Veyron SS is faster on track than enzo, ascari A10, gumpert apollo, noble m600, zonda f, maserati mc12, ariel atom, caterham r500. So all the talk how it is fast only on straight is BS. Zonda-R is a racecar that is not even race legal not to mention street legal so why eeven bring this thing in?
o rly? last time i checked they've engineered a w16 engine for this car... plus the actual car is an original, with its own chassis, first ever dual clutch transmission specially designed for the veyron, and ultra sensitive back wing, unique tyres, 10 radiators etc... so its not really "same"...
@ilbidone001 No its the fact that everyone loves it because of that reason only. You don't hear people discuss the faults such as the looks. The big rounded grille makes it look mentally challenged. It has a V16 with turbochargers so the speed isn't impressive at all.
1st veyron was made in 2003 1st was sold in 2005 so you can kinda say that Veyron is almost ten year old car. Trust me $25K 2011 5.0 will blow you away when you get in to Veyron or Ferrari you wont see much diff until you go in a straight line ;)
Making a car be agile around a track, while going ridiculously fast is more of an engineering feat than putting millions of $ into a tank for it to go fast. Zonda R is much more impressive imo...from the carbo-tanium to the unbelievable traction.
The Agera's theoretical top speed is 275 and hasn't been proved. The Venom GT's top speed is supposed to be 272 but hasn't had a runway long enough, heck even the Dagger GT says it'll do 300 blah, it hasn't been proven.
yea but those 3000 hp is 2/3 heat so thats fucked up and there are enough gtr's and lambo's etc. that have more miles on it and next to that if i could have spend that kind of money i would have a koenigsegg agera r
yet they can make little 1.5L inline 4s 800hp, 2.0L inline 4s 1000hp, 3.0L well above 1100hp? I think engines stock at levels such as 600-900hp can be built to go beyond that, especially when theres a street legal 2000hp car.
not even one is even near to be standard... enough said. shure that they all will blow the ss up BUT they are modified ;) the only cars comparable to the ss are the ultimate aero tt and the koenigsegg agera r
@GR3B3N It has 4 high pressure turbos man...Noone can get rid of that kind of turbo lag even if they had a 40 billion budget...And believe me if they could they would have done it and charge an extra 100k a piece
im not disagreeing with anything you said, but perhaps the veyron is so stable because it is all wheel drive. on the other hand, as far as i know, venom gt is a rear wheel drive drivers car.
@ghosthunter2006 talk to some owners and youll learn how reliable those ugr gallardos are....btw they crushed the veyron so hard by doing 395 kmh on a mile long run ;)
people accuse this car of being over engineered and that ssc and venom are faster for less. I agree they are faster but nothing matches the quality, balance, comfort, and speed
that's what i meant^^ only a tested top speed is a top speed worth talking about... and the dagger gt will never do 300mph, the americans can tell what they want :P
How the hell do two writers for magazines afford a GT3 RS 4.0(Harris) and a Pagani Zonda(MetCalfe) they must be makin serious money on these videos LOL
Never knew Chris Harris had actually done a review on this car. Amazing to watch and the best part was that Harry didn't get to say much :) Thank you for posting it, even if it is an Evo video.
You are right, for instance in a TG review of the Venom GT (which has the potential to beat the SS's top speed) the reviewer said that the car broke traction and went into a tank slapper at 200mph which is something the Veyron would never do, not to mention that nobody ever said anything about the handling of these cars like the SSC Aero or Venom GT, which is also an important factor of how well the chassis can cope with all that power, even if the SS's record is beaten it still remains the best
My 2 favorite car journalists...old school and new school together for one of the final times before Harris went to /DRIVE...what a cool drive
Koeniesegg Agera R!
"In five seconds you are one of the fastest moving things on the continent..." Love it.
Just read the comments. So many people just don't get the point of this car. Morons.
2:37?
‘The last Veyron we’re going to see’
64 special editions later…
Just checking all the cars from the Joe Rogan / Chris Harris podcast...
If Harry & Criss pulled up beside me at a traffic light . my first thought would be , Someone slipped me some LSD ? Imagine hanging out with these to for a day ! it wouldn't suck . or take one of my cars & show them some outstanding roads to drive . I think I'll wake up now !
240p , is this 1991 ?
Comcast says yes.

Bugatti... I salute you!
i need 500 of these for my cab company
My two favorite reviewers, in one video O_O WITH A SUPER SPORT
And it still holds up today
Their magazine also makes millions worldwide, and I think Harry Metcalfe might have already been well off when he started the magazine.
I am actually surprised the Veyron SS is faster on 'a track' than the cars you mentioned. If true; I admit, it is king. That said, the Zonda R is a work of engineering art and more so than the Veyron...imo.
Harry and Chris= Journalistic gold!
I've got the same wheel adjustment on my Bmw, I'm not impressed by the Veyron =)
hahahaha Harry "this is the last veyron were ever going to see" ........................rolls out 30 more variations hahahahaha
+Max Power Technically he's right. The SuperSport and its convertible version were the last variants of the car. Those ''30 more variations'' as you call them, were mostly special editions. Bit of a beef..
I really wish they would've made a longer more exciting review. If not for me, then at least to celebrate perhaps the greatest car ever made.

1:41 SOOOO TRUE!!! OMG! I think it is cuz there are so many pics/vids online the car seems boring. In real life it is so cool though
Song From 00:00 To 00:30

This guy needs to drive of the UR Lamborghini Gallardos. They are TT with 1500hp. They would make this veyron look like a honda civic with vtec/
when asking yourself 'is it worth the money?', also keep in mind that it costs bugatti more money to build it than they actually charge.
They're 9.5 inches wide in the front and 14.4 inches wide in the rear. The rears are the widest ever fitted to a production car. (:
Just out of curiosity: Explain your point, instead of saying "this better than that, coz its better". go on. I'm really interested.
nevermind the build cost. people who buy these cars dont really care if its worth the money. they just want the fastest and the best.
is it true that VAG loses 6 mil for evreycar,i google and found nothing,i dont think they could possibly aford such thing...
on their website, koenigsegg says the agera r goes 273 mph. can anybody confirm that for me or is that just an unproved claim?
why would you care about electric seats when you have a W16 making 1200bhp? No need for it, makes the car alot heavier
There are, but there are only 5 of the World Record Editions, which are the orange/black ones with no speed limiter.
CH just talks for the sake of talking
ah but it isnt the only car in the market that will do that. i believe you are forgetting about the Agera R my friend
Umm i think he is wrong, iv'e seen over 5 of them only here on youtube? Saw one aswell in Fort lauderdale.
I would love for Chris to go to Texas and drive the Hennessey Venom GT. Just to hear his thoughts on it.
How can it cost bugatti more money to build each veyron than they charge?
What would be the point :S
I can't wait until someone asks why it doesn't have electric seats if it costs 2 million Euros...
I dont know if underground racing would even know what to do with this.. But imagine if they did!
@ilbidone001 Yes they can drive it, with all of the driving assists turned all the way up.
so agera r is always being shunned away like its not even in the picture such a shame...
What a contrast! Such an expensive car and such a cheeeeep video... I can't get it...

They made 32 Supersports, but just 5 on the Carbon/Orange World Record spec
It's very hard to experience the "quality" this car exhibits at only 360p..
can anyone tell what song is playing at the beginning of the video? thanks!
@genieacura I don't like it either. It is also over rated for what it is.
I personnally really dont like the veyron, i prefer a lot the mclaren to it
Viendo tu historial de "me gusta" en youtube, prefiero ni hablar
i thought there was more than 5 supersports in the world! Hmm guess not
Not only five would ever be built...Common, how can a reviewer miss that
Aww i understand now so how fast does the non orange and black 1s go?
And a top fuel dragster would make the UR Gallardo look like a toy.
For goodness sake, what's the song at the beginning of this video?!
lets not forget that a bugatti veyron is more then its top speed...
Did you see the SS overtake the car awesome
I like Veyron...a lot. But I'm curious about Koenigsegg Agera R...
Who is this guy that owns this bugatti SS?
He must be soo rich.
there are more, there are only 5 of the world record edition^^
yes, the next will not be veyron, it will win another name =D
not super sports, world record editions, the orange and black
@GR3B3N I don't know mate!But there is definately a reason...
And people say it's over glorified.
how can they lose 6million with each sold, i don't get that
he has both. go watch his videos he has a ton of great cars
sure it is. whatever you say, Mr troll. good point there.
I think they're limited to 259mph (could be wrong though)
