The Veyron Super Sport is the ultimate car. Period. It doesn't matter if it is stripped of its title of "Fastest Car"... its the quality, and the pure passion for the ultimate incarnation of a car that makes this thing so much better than any Venom and SSC. A Koenigsegg Agera comes close, but this thing has truly been engineered to the maximum in every area. Bugatti... I salute you!
You are right, for instance in a TG review of the Venom GT (which has the potential to beat the SS's top speed) the reviewer said that the car broke traction and went into a tank slapper at 200mph which is something the Veyron would never do, not to mention that nobody ever said anything about the handling of these cars like the SSC Aero or Venom GT, which is also an important factor of how well the chassis can cope with all that power, even if the SS's record is beaten it still remains the best
Never knew Chris Harris had actually done a review on this car. Amazing to watch and the best part was that Harry didn't get to say much :) Thank you for posting it, even if it is an Evo video.
I am actually surprised the Veyron SS is faster on 'a track' than the cars you mentioned. If true; I admit, it is king. That said, the Zonda R is a work of engineering art and more so than the Veyron...imo.
What's the intro song? It sounds an awful lot like OM's Pilgrimage. I need to listen to more of it NOW! Bee Tee Dubs, great video Chris, as always! *thumbs up*
If Harry & Criss pulled up beside me at a traffic light . my first thought would be , Someone slipped me some LSD ? Imagine hanging out with these to for a day ! it wouldn't suck . or take one of my cars & show them some outstanding roads to drive . I think I'll wake up now !
I absoluetly agree. People don't get it that veyron is a GT car first and theres no lightweight GT cars - Bentley GT, Aston martins, merc SL, Jaguar XK etc. they are all heavy 4000lbs cars because of luxury, high end stereo, lots of soundproofing etc. And despite being the GT car it can keep up with most performance only oriented hypercars both on straight and track. And thats what makes the veyron ultimate - no compromises.
Love Harry's RUclips channel and Chris is the only thing (in 2021) preventing Top Gear turning into It's a Knockout. A shame Rory Reid went, I thought he and Chris had a good rapport and the right level of passion and knowledge of cars. Entertaining silliness and zany challenges are all well and good but all we really want is to see people like these two who live and breathe cars. Top Work!
this is my favorite car on the planet, its beautiful, blisteringly fast and like chris harris said, theres nothing like it and its worth the money, its just a fantastic car
That car reminds me of the SSC Aero from some time back :) This is the real deal. but you are right, its strange why Koenigsegg hardly ever allow the Agera to be independently tested
Well they went for a W16 to make it more compact as a V16 would be bigger, and it needs this many cylinders to make the power smoother as a V8 (like in the Venom) would be a lot less refined and would have make it feel like a heavily tuned car, but let's not forget that this car Veyron is a pretty old car by now so maybe the next car (if they ever make a new one) will probably have a smaller-ish engine like a V12.
Making a car be agile around a track, while going ridiculously fast is more of an engineering feat than putting millions of $ into a tank for it to go fast. Zonda R is much more impressive imo...from the carbo-tanium to the unbelievable traction.
im not disagreeing with anything you said, but perhaps the veyron is so stable because it is all wheel drive. on the other hand, as far as i know, venom gt is a rear wheel drive drivers car.
The claim was verified by Pierre-Henri Raphanel, Bugatti test drive. In his interview with 0-60 magazine, he made five runs with the same tires on Ehra Leissen above 400 km/h (confirmed by James May mentioning the 37 miles total lifespan of tires at high speed). Another test was done by Michelin with tires sustaining 440 km/h (it might be higher now around 450 km/h). Add also the tarmac into equation above 260 mph, a slight mistake at that speed means instant death.
"2 seconds will spit you into kind of jail territory, 5 seconds makes you one of the fastest-moving objects in the continent you're in. That's a hell of a responsability to have on board"
The numbers doesn't even tell half the story. The Bugatti is made to last 10, 20 or 30 years without having mechanical breakdowns or services every 500 miles. That is the thing that's truly remarkable about this car. It's built to withstand the years, the other two aren't. In short, numbers don't do cars well. You have to look at the whole picture. It's a shame people can't behave while trying to make a point, by the way.
well... it's said koenigsegg doesn't give many ageras for TV testing, i actually only found 3 vids with the agera being tested, one was swedish. the supersport has being tested way more + it has the reputation of the fastest production car ever made. the agera still has to be tested.
yet they can make little 1.5L inline 4s 800hp, 2.0L inline 4s 1000hp, 3.0L well above 1100hp? I think engines stock at levels such as 600-900hp can be built to go beyond that, especially when theres a street legal 2000hp car.
Thank you!!!! Unfortunatly there will STILL be 14 yr olds out there that swears by "The GT R does 0-60 in 2.8 too and only costs...." But thank you.Well said
@GR3B3N It has 4 high pressure turbos man...Noone can get rid of that kind of turbo lag even if they had a 40 billion budget...And believe me if they could they would have done it and charge an extra 100k a piece
i love the gtr more than the ss BUT a 1500hp gtr WILL NOT last for 2 years, ams could claim a lot but the fact is that the alpha omega has a 4 litre v6 and thats not enough to deliver such an monstrous amount of pover for a long period of time. koenigseggs and bugattis are build to deliver a lot for a very long time (i dont know if there was any engine failure on them so far) because they are build for that. they could do at leat 2000hp but for how long? ;)
I still think the SSC Aero and the Venom GT are un-compareable to the Veyron, Both in quality, handling and reliability. The Veyron is the ultimate car designed in Europe which concludes top quality and a supreme engine + gearbox which took over 5 years to design. The result, a car that cannot be matched to anything. If we look at the Americans, Their thought was: Power to weight ratio so they took a Twin Turbo Viper 7,2L engine and put it in a light Lotus chassi, which do you prefear?
Chris Harris almost without words... funny. But you can really see the lack of occasion. When he drove the new 911 Carrera S or the 2012 Nissan GT-R he could push it. To push it in a Veyron is something like suicide. For those, who admire other supercars: yeah there are a lot of great cars - however the Veyron is in a whole new territory! It is a milestone. And it is even pretty easy and save to drive.
o rly? last time i checked they've engineered a w16 engine for this car... plus the actual car is an original, with its own chassis, first ever dual clutch transmission specially designed for the veyron, and ultra sensitive back wing, unique tyres, 10 radiators etc... so its not really "same"...
The Agera's theoretical top speed is 275 and hasn't been proved. The Venom GT's top speed is supposed to be 272 but hasn't had a runway long enough, heck even the Dagger GT says it'll do 300 blah, it hasn't been proven.
1st veyron was made in 2003 1st was sold in 2005 so you can kinda say that Veyron is almost ten year old car. Trust me $25K 2011 5.0 will blow you away when you get in to Veyron or Ferrari you wont see much diff until you go in a straight line ;)
You are right Bugatti is not a proper super car it is Ultimate super car!!! 860hp Ferrari? you are talking about track car that use racing fuel, most u can see on street is Ferrari enzo with 660 bhp. How you can claim its only good in straight line, are you going to push any car to the limit on a street to feel a difference? Plus this is SS in the video 1200 bhp and one of fastest cars ever tested on top gear.
people accuse this car of being over engineered and that ssc and venom are faster for less. I agree they are faster but nothing matches the quality, balance, comfort, and speed
My 2 favorite car journalists...old school and new school together for one of the final times before Harris went to /DRIVE...what a cool drive
"In five seconds you are one of the fastest moving things on the continent..." Love it.
And it still holds up today
Just read the comments. So many people just don't get the point of this car. Morons.
2:37?
‘The last Veyron we’re going to see’
64 special editions later…
You are right, for instance in a TG review of the Venom GT (which has the potential to beat the SS's top speed) the reviewer said that the car broke traction and went into a tank slapper at 200mph which is something the Veyron would never do, not to mention that nobody ever said anything about the handling of these cars like the SSC Aero or Venom GT, which is also an important factor of how well the chassis can cope with all that power, even if the SS's record is beaten it still remains the best
My two favorite reviewers, in one video O_O WITH A SUPER SPORT
Just checking all the cars from the Joe Rogan / Chris Harris podcast...
Never knew Chris Harris had actually done a review on this car. Amazing to watch and the best part was that Harry didn't get to say much :)
Thank you for posting it, even if it is an Evo video.
Aww i understand now so how fast does the non orange and black 1s go?
Last Veyron? what about the WRC version and the Vitesse?
For goodness sake, what's the song at the beginning of this video?!
Harry and Chris= Journalistic gold!
can anyone tell what song is playing at the beginning of the video? thanks!
240p , is this 1991 ?
Comcast says yes.
what is the opening music?
The review is in the magazine (november 2011 issue), not in the show.
I am actually surprised the Veyron SS is faster on 'a track' than the cars you mentioned. If true; I admit, it is king. That said, the Zonda R is a work of engineering art and more so than the Veyron...imo.
What about SSC Ultimate Aero?
two of the best car journalists in the world
What's the intro song? It sounds an awful lot like OM's Pilgrimage. I need to listen to more of it NOW! Bee Tee Dubs, great video Chris, as always! *thumbs up*
were these old evo vids removed? really love the commentary in this
If Harry & Criss pulled up beside me at a traffic light . my first thought would be , Someone slipped me some LSD ? Imagine hanging out with these to for a day ! it wouldn't suck . or take one of my cars & show them some outstanding roads to drive . I think I'll wake up now !
Their magazine also makes millions worldwide, and I think Harry Metcalfe might have already been well off when he started the magazine.
I absoluetly agree. I would love for Chris to go to Texas and drive the Hennessey Venom GT. Just to hear his thoughts on it.
on their website, koenigsegg says the agera r goes 273 mph. can anybody confirm that for me or is that just an unproved claim?
Song From 00:00 To 00:30
I really wish they would've made a longer more exciting review. If not for me, then at least to celebrate perhaps the greatest car ever made.
It's very hard to experience the "quality" this car exhibits at only 360p..
3:21 that statement was so well put by Chris
Love Harry's RUclips channel and Chris is the only thing (in 2021) preventing Top Gear turning into It's a Knockout. Entertaining silliness and zany challenges are all well and good but all we really want is to see people like these two who live and breathe cars. Top Work!
how much is this?
I would really like to see a dragrace between this one and the Agera R..
this is my favorite car on the planet, its beautiful, blisteringly fast and like chris harris said, theres nothing like it and its worth the money, its just a fantastic car
Did you see the SS overtake the car awesome
That car reminds me of the SSC Aero from some time back :)
This is the real deal.
but you are right, its strange why Koenigsegg hardly ever allow the Agera to be independently tested
There are, but there are only 5 of the World Record Editions, which are the orange/black ones with no speed limiter.
The Agera R made its debut at the March 2011 Geneva Motor Show, maybe the vid was older, but still they could use the standard against the veyron...
Well they went for a W16 to make it more compact as a V16 would be bigger, and it needs this many cylinders to make the power smoother as a V8 (like in the Venom) would be a lot less refined and would have make it feel like a heavily tuned car, but let's not forget that this car Veyron is a pretty old car by now so maybe the next car (if they ever make a new one) will probably have a smaller-ish engine like a V12.

is it true that VAG loses 6 mil for evreycar,i google and found nothing,i dont think they could possibly aford such thing...
normal veyron price? (price in dollar)
@3XICS they said that this was filmed near their house but they weren't aware of this at the time
They're 9.5 inches wide in the front and 14.4 inches wide in the rear. The rears are the widest ever fitted to a production car. (:
@ilbidone001 Yes they can drive it, with all of the driving assists turned all the way up.
2 legends of automotive journalism!
im not disagreeing with anything you said, but perhaps the veyron is so stable because it is all wheel drive. on the other hand, as far as i know, venom gt is a rear wheel drive drivers car.

@GR3B3N
I'd be delighted to see the next Buggati supercar without turbolag and your name next to the chief-engineer title my friend!!!
i need 500 of these for my cab company
"2 seconds will spit you into kind of jail territory, 5 seconds makes you one of the fastest-moving objects in the continent you're in. That's a hell of a responsability to have on board"
I love how they refer to the original Veyron as 'standard'. The Supersport must be one hell of an upgrade!
Chris mate you're SUCH a great presenter!
@t1000eg It the same resolution as the original video, there was nothing I could do.
well... it's said koenigsegg doesn't give many ageras for TV testing, i actually only found 3 vids with the agera being tested, one was swedish.
the supersport has being tested way more + it has the reputation of the fastest production car ever made. the agera still has to be tested.
Casi todas las pruebas de CHarris son en España!
i live in spain. where da fk do they do all the testing?
They made 32 Supersports, but just 5 on the Carbon/Orange World Record spec
I like Veyron...a lot. But I'm curious about Koenigsegg Agera R...
As far as I know they didn't upload it on their site, I got it from their website.
I dont know if underground racing would even know what to do with this.. But imagine if they did!
yet they can make little 1.5L inline 4s 800hp, 2.0L inline 4s 1000hp, 3.0L well above 1100hp? I think engines stock at levels such as 600-900hp can be built to go beyond that, especially when theres a street legal 2000hp car.
8 yrs on it still look “other worldly”.
They're still legends today
How can it cost bugatti more money to build each veyron than they charge?
What would be the point :S
when asking yourself 'is it worth the money?', also keep in mind that it costs bugatti more money to build it than they actually charge.
@GR3B3N I don't know mate!But there is definately a reason...
nevermind the build cost. people who buy these cars dont really care if its worth the money. they just want the fastest and the best.
Thank you!!!! Unfortunatly there will STILL be 14 yr olds out there that swears by "The GT R does 0-60 in 2.8 too and only costs...." But thank you.Well said
Just out of curiosity: Explain your point, instead of saying "this better than that, coz its better". go on. I'm really interested.
@3XICS Ok!!
the video was recorded right next to my house and I did not learn anything ....
Now??? :D
1:41 SOOOO TRUE!!! OMG! I think it is cuz there are so many pics/vids online the car seems boring. In real life it is so cool though
4:26 - omg the pace of the thing it's like a cartoon
What a privilege to drive that bloody thing.
@GR3B3N
It has 4 high pressure turbos man...Noone can get rid of that kind of turbo lag even if they had a 40 billion budget...And believe me if they could they would have done it and charge an extra 100k a piece
Look at those Flintstone tires!
sure it is. whatever you say, Mr troll. good point there.
the agera r wasn't even released when this vid came out^^
i love the gtr more than the ss BUT a 1500hp gtr WILL NOT last for 2 years, ams could claim a lot but the fact is that the alpha omega has a 4 litre v6 and thats not enough to deliver such an monstrous amount of pover for a long period of time.

so agera r is always being shunned away like its not even in the picture such a shame...
no HD though
IMAGINE THESE TWO GUYS + CLARKSON ON TOP GEAR..
I still think the SSC Aero and the Venom GT are un-compareable to the Veyron, Both in quality, handling and reliability. If we look at the Americans, Their thought was: Power to weight ratio so they took a Twin Turbo Viper 7,2L engine and put it in a light Lotus chassi, which do you prefear?
I think they're limited to 259mph (could be wrong though)
Chris Harris almost without words... funny.
But you can really see the lack of occasion. When he drove the new 911 Carrera S or the 2012 Nissan GT-R he could push it.

4:46 Use that camera angle more often.
Nice review now I m gonna buy it

Earlier I meant their channel, I am subscribed to evo and I didn't see it so far.
he has both. go watch his videos he has a ton of great cars
people accuse this car of being over engineered and that ssc and venom are faster for less. I agree they are faster but nothing matches the quality, balance, comfort, and speed
in the "Drive" review of the GT3RS 4.0 he owns the car.
