LFA has less power, less torque, and slower gear changes than the F12 or 458 Speciale yet it beats them both at the Nurburgring. It's an underrated track monster.
Who else liked this video before even watching it? An awesome and unique supercar driven by my favorite hoonigan expert driver, pretty sure I'll be watching this more than once in the future.
This is 10x better than any Uk top gear road test. Clarkson and all them get a break when the cameras cut from the interior shots to the exterior. Here he's doing some incredibly intense and technical driving while doing a road (track) test at the same time. Very impressive, Cliff Harris is the man and deserves his own show.
No other show comes even near Chris´ professionalism. He is so straight in his oppinion and rellay does test the cars and not making laughs about it. Chris; you are our car-god ;-)
"New" NSX almost was like that...the Japan built prototype cancelled in 2008 even did a few ring laps. It was a 5.5 V10 front mid engined car with AWD.
OK, here is a question for you guys, if you were offered either a Porsche GT3RS or an LFA Nurburgring, which would you take if you could only have one? I never thought I would say this buy I believe I would take the LFA, it seems like so much more of an ¨event¨.
+Rafael Lastra straight for LFA Nurburgring of course.. this car will be a legend someday (if it isn't already is) this car changes the image we know of LEXUS. it started it all for toyota new-gen sports car now, they put so much effort, still they didn't intend to make profit out of it. well, maybe that's what the nurburgring pack for.. lol now for the wake up call, Some say.. LFA is quite too tail-happy.
Yeah, the RS is special but a new RS comes around every couple years. Porsche makes them to make money and to add another notch to its belt. The LFA is going to stand on its own for a generation. Toyota made it to show the world just how good they are.
@BlackDynamiteNYC I agree. With Michelin Pilot Sport Cups as standard on the GT3/GT3 RS and now optional on the 2012 Z06 I would think Lexus would offer them as at least an option on the LFA Nurburgring Edition. Those tires can do wonders for additional grip/confidence, and if the LFA was equipped with them I think your estimate of 7:10 or lower would be quite plausable. Even without them, it's an astonishing car.
This is really breath taking, I tried to drive in this track on GT5 , it really needs a lot of practice ...too bad I can't buy that lovely car.... I think I will keep seeing it on my wall and on my desktop wallpaper :(
@BlackDynamiteNYC Incorrect.... Ferrari's available with all three tire manufacturer Pirelli, Bridgestone and M-brand...... and the Bridgestone you referred to is different tire you see here on the LFA RE070R (similar compound to the ones on GTR). They are same tires Potenza S001 on the standard LFA and 458 Italia (difference sizes)
Cracking video, though Chris is incorrect about the Bridgstone RE070 being used on the Porsche 959. The Porsche had the RE71 tyres fitted which were specially developed for the 959 and were arguably the first high performance all wheel drive tyre developed (though they were only rated for speeds up to about 150mph).
did anyone read the write up in evo magazine. to get to drive the LFA N/E chris had to ride with a toyota test driver and follow a IS-F race prepped car around the ring to see if he could keep up with a regular LFA. the test driver also looked to see what lines he took, if he was in the proper gear during a turn, turned off all stability nannies during the drive. after the inititation then you got to drive two laps in the N/E. all the journalist that were invited to the event had to do this.
EPIC CAR ! Thank you Toyo/lexus for makin such a awesome car! Chris loves this car to death even more so then Ferraris and Lambos ! I love it my fav exotic car right now.
@JellyBird12 Actually the Porsche 911 Turbo uses Michelin PS2's. I would know seeing how I have worked on quite a few of them over the years. The Bridgestone Potenza RE070 is a very aggressive track tire. Great tire, but I would love to see what this thing could do with Michelin Pilot Super Sports on it.
Clarkson is a character for sure, but so is Chris, and he know a lot more about driving cars fast. I wouldn't say either's better, just different, I love them both.
I'm curious about this Nurburgring track. Where is it? How does rank among other tracks? And how much does it cost exotic car owners drivers to use it?
Italians, Germans, Americans you cannot compete w/ this passion and this engine-It is a fully bullet proof design and quality second to none. Toyota #1 ALWAYS.
I don't know where you heard the LFA was selling higher than new, but I just found 9 of them listed on the internet well below the original MSRP, with no bids. The only one making a profit on the Lexus LFA is Lexus.
Things have changed considerably in the 8 yrs since you made your comment. There are numerous examples being sold for $$600k up to $$1mil in the current market.
Everyone bangs on about the price of this car, and now it's selling for more than they were originally sold at. So every owner could now sell theirs at profit, that makes it pretty much the best value car out there, so long as you can affor the initial cost
@SoorlandRobi The Nurburgring Edition official release day they hired the Ring for 2-3 days and bought all the NE Ring owners out from all over the world with all the auto media also.
When even the screws and bolts are specifically made for one car, much less the engine, and you build your own loom to make it's carbon fiber, yeah, it's going to cost a lot...but good god, the sound..ohh the sound. A true, techno laden exclusive supercar.
" the Lfa is still one of the most desirable cars ive driven" Chris harris "If i had to choose 1 car I would take a dark blue Lfa" Jeremey clarkson. What a car
I understand your point, and I don't begrudge anyone who loves or owns a Lexus LFA. But your comparison depends upon the assumption that the Rolex is more desirable than the Timex, no matter the cost. Comparing the LFA to a GT-R, 911 Turbo S, or 458 Italia is like comparing a Rolex to a better, cheaper Rolex.
As a automotive journalist Chris Harris is far and away better. There is no question about that. As an entertainer, Clarkson definitely edges Chris on that. Clarkson was far less biased and full of it on old Top Gear.
LFA has less power, less torque, and slower gear changes than the F12 or 458 Speciale yet it beats them both at the Nurburgring. It's an underrated track monster.
+JoeBlo2 It sure is
+JoeBlo2 Balance my friend :)
That's called BS. Show me an independent test where this thing goes around the ring anywhere close to the manufacturer claimed time.
Jonathan Arena There's a video of the run online. And the same can be said of many manufacturer-controlled runs at the 'Ring.
Because cornering is king at the numbergring, especially when straightline is so similar.
3:41 for a Lap of the Nordschleife, not bad!

Even Lexus can't make something this perfect again😭
That transmission though, really held the car back. The engine and styling on the other hand lord almighty
I do like the GSF its pretty awesome
@@bk_nreynolds3278 nothing about it is holding it back. If you wanted a comfortable fast daily car then dont get an exotic supercar
@@vclue846 the transmission was sluggish and akward. Even forthe time
@@bk_nreynolds3278 for 2010 it was still fast lol performance wasn't the main goal of the LFA also...

I'm convinced that Chris Harris is the Stig...
Never thought of that, maybe you are right.
No the stig brakes with left foot

This comment aged well.
Yeah and look at Chris’s videos now , why is everything in the past so much better .
ball of steel Chris! That looked scary fast!
It really is an absolute marvel of engineering!! I will have mine one day!!!!
No other show comes even near Chris´ professionalism. He is so straight in his oppinion and rellay does test the cars and not making laughs about it.
Chris; you are our car-god ;-)
This car by far has the best sound ... What an engineering success
carrera gt and the lfa..... simply the best sounding v10 cars in history
And BMW M5.
Excellent comment!
Sounds like a Tie fighter.
Wow that's quite the spot-on comment. The way they edited the sound, yeah, I hear it!
And A true car enthusiast would appreciate any sports car with great handling, speed and it exhaust note No matter who make them.
The best car
The best driver, I liked this video before I even watched it...that's how positive I was that I didn't make a mistake.
Cant believe how fast time has gone. Almost 14 years ago this video was done. Insane
The sound is so unique and so good
I don't care what anyone says.. I think this car was worth every dime of it's asking price. Amazing car with a breathtaking sound!
Amazing how much mic and camera tech have improved since then. Sick car, sick track!
new NSX should've been like that.
fuckin' eh!.....
Can always pray for an "R" edition
"New" NSX almost was like that...the Japan built prototype cancelled in 2008 even did a few ring laps. It was a 5.5 V10 front mid engined car with AWD.

Rafael Lastra com LFA -N 🍻
Why you don't show the full lap?
where is the rest of lap and time?
The engine noise which is recorded there, and then played here,it's very impressive with these speakers here, the classical music level...
Lexus actually let the music department of Yamaha tuned the sound leading to the engine. The LFA with Nurburgring package is just gorgeous
@BlackDynamiteNYC I agree. yes he did, the nordschleife being the north loop of the whole track and about 1/4 of the total track length.
What was the time? Looked v v quick. Great to see Mr Harris back. EVO should make a tv series with Harry and co.

There's this turn in Nurburgring where drivers consistantly understeer or go too fast and hit the wall.
i think thats the chicane of the main circuit, not the nordschleife

I think he is a good TV presenter and Harris is a great motoring journalist.
Italians, Germans, Americans you cannot compete w/ this passion and this engine-It is a fully bullet proof design and quality second to none. Toyota #1 ALWAYS.
Even with the accent, this guy belongs on American Top Gear. He'd make a much better presenter than any of the current 3.

of course it is , the amount of money sound cost to develope is worth its asking it's asking price alone
The amazing LFA
Chris Harris is my favorite auto journalist ... he is fucking legit !!!

How exactly was the lap around the nurburgring 4 minutes long? Did I miss something?
From inside the car, the exhaust sounds like the lightcycles in the original 'Tron'.
this is one of those rare cars that happens once a decade
Don’t like yellow/orange but it looks amazing on this car! And of corse amazing sound, just amazing
Tiff is pretty facking solid as well imao
And Tiff N. is much older than Chris
Did he say 470 horses in the LFA? I thought it was more like 550
Recorded at Nurburgring Records
Ummm what was the time?
@eraserke Richard Hammond, James May, and Jeremy Clarkson.
Hmmm, what time he do it in??
@hashimola Now there should be Nurburgring tires ''Paint tires'' for better grip
As a automotive journalist Chris Harris is far and away better. There is no question about that. As an entertainer, Clarkson definitely edges Chris on that. Clarkson was far less biased and full of it on old Top Gear.
What day was this recorded?
I notice Chris got to drive the version without the cage in!
A genuine car nut. Chris Harris FTW!!!
*beep* "im sorry" lol
Chris Harris is so epic!
What was the lap time??
Chris lapped the Nordschleife in 3.41 - remarkable.
Do the LFA Nur Edition vs GT-R Nismo
hey now... i happen to be a gtr fan. But I also recognise that it's not the only badass car out there! Lexus LFA is fuckin awesome!
