this was absolutely amazing video, i got a new car few months back and bay parking is such a nightmare when there are others car parked both sides. This is one of the best video I have seen so far I will coming back for more. subscribing the channel. Thank you so much.

Sitting my test in mid January and whilst my instructor has been fantastic your videos are a great help in reaffirming everything I learn in my lessons!
Thanks for this I passed in March and always struggled with this as I was never taught specifically how to pull forward into a bay. I have been using the mirror as a reference point when going into a space already but it is great to know that is how it is meant to be done. Good to see this in the test too because almost everyone uses parking bays.
Thankyou so much. I have passed my test months and just got a car, and I've never done bay parking the whole time! This video will be very very helpful
What a brilliant video I watched This Video Constantly Leading Up To My Test Date..... I SMASHED Parallel parking😊 Thank You So Much....... I Definitely Recommend Everyone Watches All Your Videos😊👌🏼👌🏼
Thank you very much for the video. It is so so helpful and I feel so much relieved after watching it. I have so much problems regarding parking. Great video!
Great explanation. When in the driving test, can you steer out of the space early without picking up a fault if there aren’t cars in the neighbouring bays? My instructor always wonders why I reverse straight for so long, as if there’s a car!
Hi, no need to signal as you reverse out, you have reverse lights on and you can use brake lights to show you have or are stopping. Glad it’s helping 👍
ritu pandey in most car parks it’s a good idea to signal going forward into a space as it’s almost impossible to know which other cars you may be affecting. When considering any signal in any situation, consider if it would be misleading, if it’s not at all then it’s probably a good idea. Hope this helps
This is an excellent video, have a question though that I think you should really addressed. For example, when turning into the bay the front of the car crosses over to the other bay and would hit a car if it was there. Is it then ok to just do the maneuver in 3 points?
Avinash Singh Thanks, yes it is ok to do a shunt back and forward if needed. Although on the video it looks like it crosses the line it’s just the camera angles where the camera is not directly over the car. On none of the examples does it actually cross the line. Hope this helps, and good luck with your test :)
I passed my driving test more than a month ago but I find myself unlearning everything my instructor taught me. I especially have a hard time in car parks when parking between 2 cars. I usually have to always reverse back a little and go forward again. With all fairness though, most people don't park properly anyways they usually are on side of their bay cramping my space.
some car parks can be narrow which makes it hard, but if try what the video says about getting as far to the other side as possible before turning it gives you more time and space to adjust as you are going in
Nice video Sir, one thing I am confusing before turning forward bay parkin. Can you please tell me how do I know mirror is label to the targeted bay line? Thanks I have test on 10th of this month
Great video but I always get stuck and doing "one and a half turn" either turning too much or too little. I just do not know what one and a half turn is. Any advice?
Thanks for the video. I wish they focused on parking in parking spots in American driver’s ed. We only focus on parallel parking. I passed my road test but I am not great at parking in a parking spot
Glad for the ref point, but I find this does not work when you have cars parked in the bays left and right of yours. Would def clip one of the cars -- necessary to reverse and change angle...
Iris Jean-Klein hi you are aloud to reverse and go forward again. If the car park is wide enough tho you will get in without hitting them, some of the clips on the video look like it goes over the lines but that’s just the angles from the camera. Hope this helps :)
Very easy explanation but many time my instructor tell me still i have problem he said you can’t break the car not to slow and to fast that makes me confused thanks
H H I’m not entirely sure what you mean? But if you are talking about braking? Then you can brake while doing this manoeuvre but as you should be going very slow about 0.5mph the clutch needs to be down as the same time. Hope this helps?
1:59 you would have hit a car if there was one as you went over the line. I teach my son to line up his left indicator to the middle of the car spot, the turn. Works all the time
Although it looks like it crosses the line you don’t, it’s just the angle from the drone, even so if there is no car there it’s fine to use a bit of that space, hope this helps :)
Hi the angle of the drone makes it look like it but you don't, if you can get far enough away from the space before you turn in. if you think its close you can always stop and reverse a little before going fully into the space :)
Hi there are a couple of shots where it looks like its over the line but that's just the camera angle where the car is not directly under the drone. That said it is acceptable to go over the line a little, its up to you as the driver to asses how much is possible, if there is no car in that space you can go over it as much as you need as long as you end up in the space. Hope this helped
Alex A Thanks for your comment, you very much are aloud to go over the lines as long as it’s safe when you do so. Your aim is to finish in the lines and if you don’t that is an issue on your test but going over the lines getting there is fine if all is safe to.
Thanks, it’s weird as on my pc it’s fine but I have had a few comments saying that, I’ll look into doing that hopefully I don’t have to delete the video and upload it again to fix it. Glad the video helped tho 👍
Do u always full lock even with cars on either side? I’m afraid of clipping the back bumper of the cars aside but maybe I’m turning too early or too late? I tried lining the mirror with the line and I veered way too close to the left side. Should I turn later or when my mirror is in line with the middle? I’m a US driver but I can’t find any tutorials explaining this :(
Carl Duffin This helps people that have zero experience to gain understanding of the dimension of their car. They can then go on and choose how they park. Also most people forward park as it’s easier to put your shopping in the boot if you have a trolly load if your forward in. But you are not wrong it can be safer to reverse into a space as it’s easier to see when leaving the space later
Yes, my wife always "forced" me to forward park because of the trolley problem and I always grumbled because it was the "wrong" way to park but I always knew it made sense!
I tried this in an empty part of the parking lot with no neighbouring cars to use as reference. It is not as easy as it seems, especially backing back out when you have no cars behind and only the white parking lines to go by. Interesting.
I got asked to do this on my test last week. It was the second manoeuvre, should you get 2? I did parallel park at the start of the test, but was given no faults for it... so why did I get a second manoeuvre?!! I failed on this one because i was over the line, I wish I had seen this beforehand.
karl collitt You should only get one manoeuvre. What did your instructor say about it? At the end of the test you have to park the car but if it’s not your official manoeuvre unless you where unsafe it should not have been marked as a fail.
My instructor said it was "a sickener". The second bay park manoeuvre was carried out before I got back to the test centre. This is what confused me... If I had carried out the parallel park previously and incurred no faults doing so, why would I be given a second manoeuvre? Makes no sense.
This might sound really stupid but say I have done a full right lock then when the car is level with the a line or wall in front is it 1 left to straighten up? Also say I’m over the right hand line near the drivers side do i reverse out then as I drive forward do I steer 1/2 left then quick 1 right then quick 1/2 left to straighten?
Hi, to straighten up, you take off the amount you put on, so if you put full lock on that 1 and a half turn in most cars to take off again. If you are over the line what you said should work in most cases :) Go and practice, and even deliberately park on the line if its safe and practice fixing it. Once you have enough experience you will be able to do all of it without thinking about the amount of steering :)
Think Driving School Igot this manoeuvre on my test today I got a minor as I actually went over the right line and fixed it using the method I mentioned 😅
At 1:31 two screens .. on the left one you are telling us a reference point where the line of the bay has to be under the side mirror .. BUT on the right screen when it’s actually happening the mirror is actually in between the bay !!!!!!
Hi, on the left is what it looks like from the drivers seat, The line isn’t actually under the mirror is just looks like it from where you are sitting. Hope this helps :)
There can be several reasons. Either you are steering to slow or the car is going to fast. If you are doing both these things right then you need to find a new reference point. The one her gave you may work for some of his students but you may be way taller or shorter then then so you may need to find one that works for you. Hope this helps :)

ryanbrownee10 hi thanks for your comment, it depends what you did wrong on it. Until you have switched off the engine at the end of the test you are being marked.
In the U.K. In December you get to Reverse bay park. There's more changes as you can use sat nav or road signs navigation. Tester can mark from saying hello to goodbye. Knowledge, Skills and behaviours . But will realistically fail you from what you do moving off to parking up.
ryanbrownee10 when i had my test he said for me to forward park in the bay as we got in the test centre. I said ive no idea how to as i havent been taught it and he told me dont worry most instructors dont do it. I still got a pass
Yes at the end of the test if you have done your Manoeuvre already then you will go forward into a bay at the test centre but as long as your safe and don't nearly hit anyone or thing you don't have to be in the lines, But try your best to be :)

Yes if you are going into a space on your right

It does, trust me :) and you can see from 2:36 there are other cars there
Is this not just lazy parking? Much easier and more accurate to reverse park once you learn the dimensions of your car.

ryanbrownee10 hi thanks for your comment, it depends what you did wrong on it.
Yes at the end of the test if you have done your Manoeuvre already then you will go forward into a bay at the test centre but as long as your safe and don't nearly hit anyone or thing you don't have to be in the lines, But try your best to be :)
why will they never show bay parking when its between 2 cars???????????????????????????????
What do you mean?
It’s the same as into the middle of 3 empty spaces
