I needed this video! I am installing a match amplifier and I really didn’t know where to start on the set up stage. Of coarse my set up will be different because I am upgrading a BMW OEM system but at least I know where to start now. Thanks!
Man. That was refreshing. I installed for 11 years but left to go overseas. Haven't gotten this deep since 2002. I do have some questions and hopefully you can help.
I don’t but Most companies give a suggested crossover point. Or you can use DATs to run a sweep and get your parameters as to what the speaker can play. Then use that information to make a decision on crossover points.
Thanks man! I was confused with how how to assign the input to corresponding outputs I too am just using a front left and front right full range input signal

Where should I set my amps and radio if I'm using the DSP for all of the tuning? Thank you
Thanks for the video, i would have been lost without it! Just purchased the DSP.2. Quick question - right now my fronts consist of Cadence 6x9's in the door and Massive Audio 3 1/2" in the dash wired in parallel, rather than go full range, I set it up as mids. should I have set it up as full range instead? I haven't done any equalization yet everything is still flat. Thanks.
Robert Williams your inputs need to be full range. Outputs are really only labels so when you set your crossovers on the main page you don't accidentally set the wrong crossover and blow a speaker.
Thank for grate video. Just had a ? I have a 2012 Audi A7 and I got jl audio amps but what's the best way to hook up my helix off my MMI, it has fiber cam bus
That's something you need to research. Some companies like MoBridge have can bus conversion to rca or optical toslink so you can add amplifiers and processors. Other than actually having that signal converted or getting the high level speaker wires off the back of the oem amplifier you can't do it.
Ordered the .2 helix. Everyone said this was best over jl. I have premium sound in 2018 ecosport what would you recommend to set this to fix bass rolloff?
How would I know on a car this new what outputs have what range? I am guessing because it was said to be their most powerful stock system it has quite points set so I'm trying to undo that to run aftermarket mono block and full range for mids and highs. It's titanium so I think it has a center as well
Thank you. My car audio guy made some changes. It’s been difficult to get back in with him. Question is, so if I download the software, should all his presets show up on my Laptop. Also, do I have to mute anything within the dsp before making changes ? My setup, P one to subs, and the helix V 12 dsp. Last time he played with it, he added way to much tweeter. I’d like to revert to the original sound. If this is something stored on the DSP I’d love this. Personally do not want to attempt anything myself until I’m sure. I’ve got BLAM signature series and would hate to blow any of them. Thanks so much in advance.
All the presets will show up but you need to save them one by one onto your laptop. No you don’t have to mute anything to make changes but keep the volume down just in case.
@@JosiahBuwalda it didn’t go as planned. I saved everything, but when it updated it wiped everything on dos. I do have this folder, but it won’t allow me to load file
So usually a Freq Response is based at a very low wattage. So just because it says you can play them down to 2200, you don’t want to cross them over there. Usually with higher end brands there should be a “suggested” crossover point under the specifications of the speaker. I would say to start a tweeter crossover at 6500 at -24db slope. Then play with it from there
@@JosiahBuwalda i only have a 2 way component system, and my woofer goes to 6000hz. I’ve crossed them at 3500hz, and the slope doesn’t cross the frequency response on either speaker 😄
Not exactly sure what you mean. If you follow along the video there is no way to have them playing in mono. Mono would consist of having the Left and Right signal on one output on the IO page. If you set it up correctly than it’s not in your dsp is more than likely a wiring error.
Can the 2 outputs from a V Eight DSP Mk2 be configured as separate mono outputs or do they have to be stereo left and right? I am trying to do an active 3way front, rear fill, center channel, and mono sub. The eight channels can power the doors, and the outputs I want to run to two other amps (one for center, one for sub).
Sorry didn’t see your comment. There is limited control on the input side. But on the output side to the amplifiers there is gain adjustment. I use the gain adjustment in the Helix to fine tune the speakers, most gain adjustment should be done via the amplifiers. That being said, the USB module only works from a device that has a volume control or it’s own power output, such as a Fiio player, that is where your “gain” aka volume adjustment would be. Gain and volume are the changing of voltage to the processor, then adjustment of voltage in the dsp to amplifiers and out to speakers. Hope this was t to confusing
Is there a reason why my right speakers play fine and left side very quiet that you can’t really hear until 10-20 minutes then starts play fine? My channels are set up like yours, 3 way active plus dual subs.

I’m having to use high pass because I can’t use aftermarket head unit. I can’t get sub to come on? If I sum program outputs nothing. Any help would be great?
If you have summed your inputs and don’t have sub output than you don’t have something setup correctly or wired correctly. You should be able to do exactly like this video and get output. Try to put a full range signal to your subs and see if they are working. Sounds like something isn’t wired correctly

Well if it’s saying those channels are in use. Than they are in use elsewhere and you have to delete where they are being used. Most likely you are trying to put a left or right input where a left or right input already exists and you can’t do that
I'm doing the same thing as you on the Input side 3 left and 3 right on the output side o have front left high front right high front left low front right low and sub 1 sub 2 what am missing
Hard to tell without looking at the tune. I’d suggest finding a tuner to pay to have everything setup for you. Also if you’re using a director or anything make sure sun volume is up. To me it just sounds like a error in the setup, but just not sure.
In this case there is no need as we are only running a front stage and subs. In the case where you are not necessarily in competitions and want rear speakers then yea.

Ok.....?
I have the hellix dsp mini I'm trying to drag the left and right for the subs it's giving me a warning saying already in use I'm doing what you just done for the subs
Am I supposed to use rear left full and rear right full for sub 1 and sub 2
Hard to tell without looking at the tune. I’d suggest finding a tuner to pay to have everything setup for you. Also if you’re using a director or anything make sure sun volume is up. To me it just sounds like a error in the setup, but just not sure.
@@JosiahBuwalda I'm using it in demo mode not in car yet I have the dsp mini with the new software dsp PC tool version 4.75a
your best to use at least 2 sets so you dont lose fader
In this case there is no need as we are only running a front stage and subs. In the case where you are not necessarily in competitions and want rear speakers then yea.
Funny i Lost my car with my new settings 😅
