Wow, I'm floored. Absolutely LOVE you guys. I never thought I'd see the day when anyone would EVER react to Roads to Madness. Easily one of THE most obscure & beautiful songs created by the forever infamous & mighty Ryche. Beside this unsung gem IMO are NM156, I Dream in Infrared, Neue Regel & Screaming in Digital for Ryche songs that are "outside the box", yet truly amazing. Please react to any of those...
They played this before it was even released, when I first saw them on their debut (EP) tour in November of 1983, opening for Twisted Sister at the original Ritz in NYC. I was floored deep into my blood and bones. It was the singular highlight of a night sick with highlights. Geoff's voice was the absolute strongest instrument on that stage, among all 10 musicians playing that show. We drove home shaking our heads in awe.
I saw this performed live as a teenager, never seen anything like it since. We were ALL silent and frozen, he hit notes that made tears fall down your face. Once you heard this, you couldnt go back to Poison or Motley Crue. Queensryche touches your Soul.
As a long time Queensryche Fan. (since 84) This is still by far one of the Queensryche best songs ever... and most underrated..! Last track on "The Warning' or if your old school it was the last track on side 2.!
I love watching y'all. I'm so envious of you listening to Queensryche for the first time. I remember what it was like listening to these guys for the first time...just staring at the speakers with my jaw on the floor. I've loved them from the first note.
Road To Madness is from Queensryche's first full album "The Warning" from 1984. Before that they had an EP simply called "Queensryche". For a first album, this one hit like a two-ton mortar...
Lol, I caught that..."like a...two ton...heavy thing." Those who end up delving into 'Ryche a little deeper will understand that eventually (little hint; Empire).
I remember listening to this album and wondering how they weren't the biggest band in the world. I'd put this album right on par with the two Sabbath/Dio albums of the early 80's and that's saying something.
BEST Queensryche album! Used to crank this one at our college 'metal parties' back in the early 80's! Brings back some awesome memories of great times, and rocked out college metal girls we partied with! The songs 'Queen Of The Reich' and 'Lady Wore Black' were from their first release, which was an EP (extended play) short album. It was followed up by the metal masterpiece, 'The Warning', which was their first full album. Such epic, tour de force metal, at a time when the NWOBHM (new wave of British heavy metal) was hitting full force. Queensryche demonstrated that U.S. metal could stand with the best of them!
Whew, the best? Arguably, I agree. But, I've found over the years, to stay the hell away from the "best" question. Especially if it concerns music. You'll just end up second guessing yourself to death lol. I put "Operation Mindcrime" on a self by itself, because it is a "stand alone" piece of work. The greatest "concept LP" ever done. If I HAD to pick one, it's Rage for Order. Countless times I'd que it up and just let it play. But, there's no way that I can dispute your pick of "The Warning" either. I'm good with that too...so there's the quandary lol. I was crushed when ego got the best of em and they imploded. Damn "Guns n Roses" disease I guess. But, the stuff that came after Empire never was quite up to snuff. Especially, when the release of Mindcrime II was announced, I couldn't wait...but damn, what a disappointment it was. My favorite Queensryche song and album! It's from The Warning (1984). It was their first LP. The self titled EP with The Lady Wore Black came out in 1983. Thank you for the great reactions.
This album came out right after I graduated from high school and got my first apartment. "Take Hold of the Flame" shocked me. It was on the radio. I bought 'The Warning" album and was amazed. I'm 56 years old now and still love their music! I loved music back then! So much better than now.

Rage for Order is easily the album that captured Geoff Tate's voice at its absolute peak of range, control, power, in short, NO ONE, before or after that album, could come near his voice he had in that era
God, watching this with you guys is like hearing it for the first time. Goosebumps is right, Kel! My memory is hazy but I *believe* Geoff Tate in an interview said he wrote the lyrics after coming down off a drug binge and he was awake something like 3 days straight. Great reaction, guys! \m/ \m/

But overall Queensryche had absolutely the worst unplugged concert. They didn’t have a thing prepared and only played 6 different songs. I think they played silent lucidity like 4 times. Embarrassing I love Queensryche, but, they massively failed at accoustic
@@6lillium - My personal fave Ryche album. HUGELY underrated. On that album they truly had defined their own sound & style & stood out from ANY other band on the planet.

It's amazing how soft yet powerful and haunting this song is. Like a magnum opus on just thier first full album. The years of practice before debuting were well spent. The slow progression that was building is just an emotional wave that crashes and folds over you and sweeps you away with it.
These were the best songs to play back in high school. Everyone expected Queen of the Ryche and when playing these, eyes got wide and fists in the air. Still love playing these songs even tho my band days are behind me
