Mr. Hidalgo is always so nice about texting everyone back! When I first started tweeting at him, I was shocked that he replied to my questions, now I just expect it! He's a great resource for us nerds.
Jedi Council was my first look into Collider Videos and it will ALWAYS be my favorite content they make. These guys really got me into Star Wars with the depth of conversation and theories and knowledge. Gets me so hype
That sounds freaking epic. I just thought of an addition, he stares down the Knights of Ren and then turns to Rey, nods and they both ignite their lightsabers.
I'll bet anything that even with an explanation, some people will be dumb enough to think Rogue One is the sequel to Force Awakens and Vader is just Kylo Ren in the Vader costume. God I can already see it. Some people are that thick headed.
+Sauron Merciful If no one is raging why am I being told to chill ? Haha Just saying there is a reason why studios and filmmakers do what they do and we ain't the ones making the choices. It's Disney and lucasfilm which have a incredible track record for making "right" choices
+Sauron Merciful and when you said "no one is raging here" I was just referring to you saying " screw this, rogue one will suck, and it didn't have to"
I honestly can't believe in the year 2016 why anyone can be confused about this movie when they can do an oh so quick google search and it'll clear up all the confusion about the movie. Yet... They still won't even do that.
Must be really cool for Dave Filoni to have one of his characters that him and George Lucas created together in one of the tv shows be in one of their films. Marvel has never done that with their shared universe glad to see Star Wars take advantage of their vast library of characters. Hopefully more to come.
Well Lucas anyway. As per the story the character was first created for the live action TV series then when that didn't happen various ideas were taken over to TCW. I'm sure Filoni then had to make changes for animation. The wealth of Lucas storylines in those scripts could be used to fill in movies for many years with some 50 episodes written.
RJ Q Like Marvel could have incorporated some tv characters into Ultron when the hellicarrier that saved them was the one dug up by Coulson. Or at least mention some of the events in Civil War which happened in SHIELD that made sense to the storyline. I personally don't have a problem with tv characters not being in film but there is a disconnect that is frustrating to some viewers.
I guess he means no characters from Agents of Shield or any of the Netflix series have shown up in the MCU. Which is true, but not really relevant. It's also different because a lot of Marvel characters' movie rights are owned by other studios.
Fair enough, but that does feel too different to really compare with the Star Wars universe and its extended timeline. The better equivalent might be a side character from Agent Carter aging up and featuring in a movie. Not Carter herself or Howard Stark--it'd have to be a character original to the show.
Leia uses the Force twice in the original trilogy, both times to find Luke. The first time when the Falcon is flying away from Cloud City and she turns around to go rescue him. The second time after the destruction of the 2nd Death Star when Han says "I'm sure Luke wasn't on that thing" and she replies "He wasn't."
+Bebo18 Okay buddy. I'm not sure when your knowledge of lightsaber designs is actually going to be useful in real life ( ROFL), but if you feel they're that special by all means, patent it for the future ;)
Here's what I think about the Star Wars Episode 8 - Rogue One marketing: - At Star Wars Celebration, we're going to get a lot of stuff from Rogue One. I think the MOST we're going to get out of Episode 8 at Celebration is an official title for the movie. - Jump to December later this year and Rogue One is coming out in like 2 weeks. Disney then markets Rogue One with Episode 8 by attaching the first Episode 8 teaser to Rogue One and not releasing it online for a couple weeks to get those fans who want to see the Episode 8 teaser before those online. Also it makes sense since Disney can say "Hey, for the people that see Rogue One, they get to see Episode 8 footage 2-3 weeks before people who see it online. And you're not wasting your money if you're a Star Wars fan since we're attaching Star Wars footage to another Star Wars movie." - Episode 8 teaser gets released late December, early January 2017.
SMITHLORD is brilliant! Saul said "What will you become?" I can totally see the relevance there... wow. That tiny connection is the backbone of the struggle.
having John Campiea there is a treat because i felt i was drawn to AMC movie talk and Collider because of him how he has a way that he talks and debates about movies he has that passion and fire in him that he just draws people
Chances of seeing Onderon: 99% , I think that planet where Donnie yen's character was fighting the storm troopers was Onderon, it has very Naboo-esque architecture
I don't need an episode VIII teaser until shortly before Rogue One releases so we can see the teaser in theaters while rogue one premieres and all go totally insane and cry tears of joy because of the awesomeness.
Here's the teaser they show; black screen. In comes sound clip of the emperor "strike me down with all of your hatred and your journey to the dark side will be complete. " shot fades in. Camera is behind Luke with the Knights of Ren standing in front of him. End of teaser. Damn that's gold.
i think at celebration for ep. 8 we will get the title confirmed and some concept art, maybe the poster. I dont think we will get any footage for it. I think like you guys say you need to start plugging Rogue One more now, that machine needs to drive the film with 6 months to go.
Yet another great show! BTW Saw Gerrera's homeworld is not Alderaan, it is Onderon (It sounds really similar though, I had them confused for a long time)
are you guys planning to go to Celebration VIII in Orlando? I know Celebration Europe is still coming but your already not going to that one. I already have my ticks for Orlando and the VIPs (Which I didn't get) are sold out already.
Most reassuringly, another EW came out today with interviews from Kennedy, Edwards and a few others that pretty confirm all the reshoot rumors were completely blown out of proportion. They're not changing the tone or anything like that.
Another great council. Got a question about the Republic Commando Book Series.I was a big fan of it and was wondering if Pablo had plans on using them in the future?
Question regarding the Imperial Guards in the Rogue one trailer. I remember on an earlier Jedi Council you guys mentioned the possibility of it being the Emperor because the Guards are only in his presence. But recently I was reading Tarkin and the Guards were along side Mas Amedda. Would that be a possible choice of who was in Rogue One?
Vader has to be in ROGUE ONE. VADER does not have to be micromanaged by the EMPEROR. The EMPEROR saved ANAKIN'S life. ROGUE ONE does not need the help from EP 8. Word of mouth (STAR WARAS FANS) will guide movie fans for ROGUE ONE. Collider, lets not be silly to the moive fans. The silver screen is slowly coming back. I LOVe your show.
The last Twitter question asked if there would be more EU characters used in Rogue One, after which Kristian named Cad Bane... But The Clone Wars is canon, isn't it? That would make Bane already canon instead of EU, right? Or was TCW wiped from canon as well? As for EU characters to be used in Rogue One, I'm hoping Thrawn will be mentioned by name in Rogue One. Or at least hinted at via vague descriptions. And how could would it be to see The Emperor's Hand in the background of a hologram? Just those little nods, those are what I'm almost looking more forward to than the plot of the film.
Yes!!! Hopefully he gets better dialogue in Rogue One than he got in Revenge of the Sith! George completed wasted him in Sith with "Where's Padme?" "Noooooo"!!! Rogue One will truly be the prequel we deserve!!
I agree, it would have been much better getting confirmation from a trailer and not some magazine. Although big fans KNEW he'd be in it but it kills the reveal.
Rey's probably gonna get BB8, the Falcon, and Chewie with it. You can bet that Lucasfilm decided to amalgamate the Han and Luke archetypes into one = Rey; spun as a strong woman, it's likely that she's also serves as Leia 2.0. By packaging all the major protagonist elements into one "hero package" it'll make it easier to write for her indefinitely past the current trilogy. Films post episodes 7,8,9, can be the new adventures of our badass heroine, her trusty sidekick, and their cool ship. It even works in terms of long term cost saving, since there's now only one visible actor absolutely essential to the franchise.
I see where you're going...I honestly would like to see LANDO take over the Falcon for a stretch before they hand it off to a new generation chaotic good space pirate-type character.
Every time i see Captain Cassian Andor in vids and pics... just for a half second i think "Oh WOW... Richard Hammonds in Star Wars?!?!?" They don't even look anything alike IRL
Surprisingly, Rogue One is turning out to have a lot of respect for the expanded universe. K-2SO looks like a mix between 8t88 from Dark Forces 2 and Proxy from the Force Unleashed.
Vader being in Rogue One was a no brainer. Between Episode Three and Four and given the events of Episode Four; he had to be there. Other wise, it would be weird. Given that fact, I'm curious to see how Edwards and company use him. Having him be this legendary figure fits him. As Harloff noted, this is something Vader Down and most of the new canon has been doing. But even going back to legends, this was always a thing, as described wonderfully in Stover's the Rise of Darth Vader. If anything, I'd personally want to see little of Vader. Treat him like Jaws, little screen time, until the third act. I want to see him go after our heroes, killing some, while they desperately try to get the Death Star plans to Leia and the Tantive IV and barely do so. Vader works best when in the shadows for this film. We see him enough in the OT. As for Forest Whitaker's character as Saw Generra, about fricken time. LucasFilm preached about wanting to make their new canon connected to the films. TFA was a horribly missed opportunity. Though, Bloodline kind of corrects it. If anything, I hope this continues onto various media. For example, I want to see Cad Bane or Casterfo make appearances in the movies. Or perhaps, Mara Jade, but I might be asking too much.
Man I want Vader to be menacing in this film. I want him to be that monster on the Tantive IV ship crushing rebel necks and Force pushing them like rag dolls..I'm pumped for Rogue
I would love to see the opening shot planet to be Coruscant....a shuttle carrying Vader to the imperial palace to confer with emperor. I think it would be great contrast to show Vader on Coruscant in the old temple, would really bridge ep3 and 4 and timeline Rogue 1 is in. Then the ending be on Alderaan to really make ep4 that much more impactful.
So having read 'Tarkin' recently, I can't see how R1 can NOT have him in. I think John mentioned briefly that he wondered about this but I'm surprised there isn't way more discussion about the Grand Moff himself. As Leia said, Tarkin holds Vader's leash and was the main man responsible for the Death Star for 10 years. Please let him get the cudos he deserves!
I was in DC at the Arlington National Cemetery and I was wearing a Rebel logo t-shirt and one of the employees came up to me because he wanted to shake the hand of the guy wearing the "Sith logo." I shook his hand and let it go cuz it was still cool to meet another Star Wars fan, even if he needed to brush up. Oh well.
Marc is right. You cannot get the same feeling had Vader been shown and announced for the very first time in a trailer. There is no doubt some of the luster is gone because of this announcement. It's amazing that Vader is confirmed but still the firts time ina trailer would've been more of a holy shit vibe but now it will be like a oh cool vibe.
just got my ticket for star wars celebration guys! im so excited, never been to one of these things before. im going on the friday to see mark hamill talk and the rogue one panel talk, says special guests, she not listed but do you think felicity jones will be at Celebration?
I think the first EU character to jump to the films was that Twilek jedi Aayla Secura. But I don't think it happened much before the new cannon. It seems like it's happening more now that the new cannon all lines up.
I can picture at the end of Rogue One when some of the crew have made it out and they're about to escape. Then Vader walks in all, "fine. i'll do it myself." and just wipes EVERYONE out. that's why the plans were beamed to leia's ship, not delivered. They didn't have time before Vader got to them. Then Vader takes the shuttle to the Star Destroyer and they go into lightspeed after Leia. *roll credits*
I think Chewie will give Luke and Rey their space but he had a blood debt with Han so he is likely to back her up. Also the Force Awakens looked like it was setting Rey up to be the pilot of the Millenium Falcon and Chewie would be her co-pilot.
I would guess they reveal the title of Episode 8 at this year's celebration, maybe with a clip made with concept arts like the disney did for Dr. Strange at D23?
As much as Id usually rather actors take on different roles and styles of characters, I kinda really want to see Mads as a similar character to Hannibal and have a scene of him speaking with Palpatine and just enjoy watching them tryng to out evil manipulate each other!
Thanks to Kristian, Mark, Tiffany and John for an excellent Jedi Council session!
As always! They literally make my week!
Agreed. :-)
Mr. Hidalgo is always so nice about texting everyone back! When I first started tweeting at him, I was shocked that he replied to my questions, now I just expect it! He's a great resource for us nerds.
I live for this show !
No.
+swing sip I'm 16 so I'm trying .
The Modern Portfolio
When I was a kid, I thought I wanted to grow up.
Don't be in a hurry.
+swing sip Marvel fanboy on a Star Wars show ... Good insult ?
Jedi Council was my first look into Collider Videos and it will ALWAYS be my favorite content they make. These guys really got me into Star Wars with the depth of conversation and theories and knowledge. Gets me so hype
Just show a 15 sec clip of Luke staring down the Knights of Ren and igniting his light saber at Star Wars Celebration
Yeeeeees
Oh man, that would be EPIC!!
That sounds freaking epic. I just thought of an addition, he stares down the Knights of Ren and then turns to Rey, nods and they both ignite their lightsabers.
No, it sounds stupid and its so clishe.
shut up
Everyone is excited for Vader and I'm sitting here happy that we finally get an animated character brought to live action.
I'll bet anything that even with an explanation, some people will be dumb enough to think Rogue One is the sequel to Force Awakens and Vader is just Kylo Ren in the Vader costume. God I can already see it. Some people are that thick headed.
+Sauron Merciful This people do this for a living (Disney/lucasfilm) so have more faith in them then rage afterwards if you want too
+Sauron Merciful If no one is raging why am I being told to chill ? Haha
Just saying there is a reason why studios and filmmakers do what they do and we ain't the ones making the choices. It's Disney and lucasfilm which have a incredible track record for making "right" choices

yeah unfortunately. i showed the trailer to a friend and he asked wheres the girl and the black stormtrooper? i smh and walked away lol
Must be really cool for Dave Filoni to have one of his characters that him and George Lucas created together in one of the tv shows be in one of their films. What would that move even be for Marvel? I don't see the comparison.

Jedi Council is best thing about the internet!!! Thanks guys!
love this panel these guys have great chemistry n put on a greta show every week
I got goosebumps just picturing Luke and Leia use the force in episode 8
The less Carrie Fisher in action sequences the better. Just saying.
Leia doesn't use the force much
I got shivers picturing Luke and Leia have at it after all these years in an unhealthy sudden passion of forbidden lust.
Brilliant show again! Every time you mentioned Celebration I let out a little help of joy. Can't wait to see what we get.
I love the design for the droid!
Me too!
HK-47 much? I can dig it
Every time I watch this show I always end up with like 3 new ideas for movies and characters and light saber designs. Too bad they'll never be seen.
like what? share
like what? share
like what? share
+Ciaran Mulroy I'd prefer not to lol idk if I might use them one day. Idk my future so never know if I might need them.

I can totally see the relevance there... wow. That tiny connection is the backbone of the struggle.
Well played campea, had no idea about your show FilmHQ until you dropped a plug for it 5 times on this video, Subscribed!
thanks for answering my question, guys, LOVED the show this week :DDDDD
having John Campiea there is a treat because i felt i was drawn to AMC movie talk and Collider because of him how he has a way that he talks and debates about movies he has that passion and fire in him that he just draws people
Chances of seeing Onderon: 99% , I think that planet where Donnie yen's character was fighting the storm troopers was Onderon, it has very Naboo-esque architecture
I love starting my Friday work day with the Jedi Council
LOL...the camera almost panned to Campea's force ghost for a sec...and love the tank top Tiffany :)
I don't need an episode VIII teaser until shortly before Rogue One releases so we can see the teaser in theaters while rogue one premieres and all go totally insane and cry tears of joy because of the awesomeness.
Always the best when all four are there for the show
Love watching this show every week!!! keep up the good work... love you guys... Also I can't wait for Rogue one and Episode 8!!!

When I was a kid I called them At At's. And I will always refer to them as such.
one of the most iconic voices in movie history.
Spending my day moving Jedi council is the best way to end the day
Mark Ellis is so funny:) "Darth Julius Vader" lol.
Most reassuringly, another EW came out today with interviews from Kennedy, Edwards and a few others that pretty confirm all the reshoot rumors were completely blown out of proportion. They're not changing the tone or anything like that.
OH MY GOSH!!! I'VE BEEN DOING THE TIE FIGHTER THING ALL MY LIFE!!😂😂😂 It lives on!
When Kristian brought up Greg Grumberg's character in The Force Awakens; there was another book character in the film; Korr Sella. She's in Bloodline.
Another great council. Got a question about the Republic Commando Book Series.I was a big fan of it and was wondering if Pablo had plans on using them in the future?

their faces when Tiffany did the tie fighter thing 😂😂
luv listening to this on a Friday night drinking a cold one and making homemade pizza!
I agree having Vader in the movie preview first would of been more like a wow experience. Is what it is..
To add to John's idea of having BBY and ABY in marketing, they could use things like before and after ANH.
The way I see Saw Gerrera finding out Anikin is Vader would be when he sees Vader's fighting style on the battlefield
Craving for a live action spinoff post episode VI with Luke encountering an old blind Kanan played by Jason Momoa on his search for the jedi temples.
kristian almost got hk-47 mixed up with tk-421. "tk-421 why aren't you at your post?"
The last Twitter question asked if there would be more EU characters used in Rogue One, after which Kristian named Cad Bane... But The Clone Wars is canon, isn't it? That would make Bane already canon instead of EU, right? Or was TCW wiped from canon as well?

I am SO gonna start using that TIE fighter secret handshake.
Yes!!! Hopefully he gets better dialogue in Rogue One than he got in Revenge of the Sith! George completed wasted him in Sith with "Where's Padme?" "Noooooo"!!! Rogue One will truly be the prequel we deserve!!
Mark is 100 percent right about the marketing of Vader. Releasing him in a magazine if fucking dumb. 100%. Period. End of story.
That's okay, people are still gonna got nuts when they see him in the trailer. People pretty much knew before they officially announced it.
Agreed
I agree, it would have been much better getting confirmation from a trailer and not some magazine. Although big fans KNEW he'd be in it but it kills the reveal.
Carlos Maximus Absolutely!
Ohyeeeah!! That time of the week!!
will be in episode 8 trailer later in the year I'm not sure about Star Wars Celebration but we should get one around about November time
middlstun: no don't go I'm in charge!
vader: do you feel in charge? *puts hand up*

You can hear John laughing every time mark makes a joke I love it 😂
Fake laugh
Have you guys noticed that Mark's fake laugh sounds identical to his real life. I can't when he's really laugh😂
They all crack me up. Even when they're not funny lol
Wow ignore all the typos in my previous reply
LOL Saw calling Vader Annie that would be hilarious. Annie are you okay? Are you okay Annie?
Every time i see Captain Cassian Andor in vids and pics...
just for a half second i think
"Oh WOW... Richard Hammonds in Star Wars?!?!?"
They don't even look anything alike IRL
I lost it it when they showed the brunt Vader mask in the force awakens teaser trailer.
I like Jedi Council because, similar to Heroes, it reminds me of the old crew i.e. the ones I actually want to watch ! :-)
Surprisingly, Rogue One is turning out to have a lot of respect for the expanded universe. K-2SO looks like a mix between 8t88 from Dark Forces 2 and Proxy from the Force Unleashed.
I loved the Movie3Some throwback!

Did you guys not find the Force Awakens comic adaptation issue not worth mentioning because we've already seen the movie?
How come you didn't report about the possible Episode 8 leak? I know it might be spoilers but its star wars news and I wanted you guys opinions
'Cause possibly they don't want to read spoilers.
+AlienRockExtras they did it for the other rumoured episode 8 scene
+Mojofilms Productions they don't cover every little rumor cuz they're just that, rumors.
love that shirt Harloff! Superscience!
Best show on RUclips!
Man I want Vader to be menacing in this film. I want him to be that monster on the Tantive IV ship crushing rebel necks and Force pushing them like rag dolls..I'm pumped for Rogue
NOTIFICATION SQUAD UP IN HERE!

Mark Ellis has the best references. Way to reach back to that Simpsons baseball episode.
Collider Jedi council is life!!!!!!
i still think it would be awesome to see some bounty hunters like Bossk or Dengar in Rouge One.
I believe the Rogue One main cast will be at celebration.
Well they are having a panel live chat with kathleen and ita says special guests. I hope your right :) 👍
I think the first EU character to jump to the films was that Twilek jedi Aayla Secura. But I don't think it happened much before the new cannon. It seems like it's happening more now that the new cannon all lines up.
There was another Jedi from the comics that was canonized in ROTS as well, but I can't remember his name.
You guys are great, but it's been a slow few weeks for Star Wars news.
I have to use that "Kilo Ren's therapist" strategy where he just uses a picture with as many words as he wants because Twitter is much too limiting.
*roll credits*
the only thing revealed of episode VIII at celebration will be the name (teaser) of episode VIII.
TFA kinda had a King Arthur Knights of the Round Table or Knights Templar feel with the Knights of Ren
I want to see Vader shooting X-Wings out of the sky. "I have you now"
Whenever the Rouge One trailer comes out, make sure Mark Ellis has a belt on!
I think Chewie will give Luke and Rey their space but he had a blood debt with Han so he is likely to back her up. Also the Force Awakens looked like it was setting Rey up to be the pilot of the Millenium Falcon and Chewie would be her co-pilot.
I had to go back in the video to see if I heard Tiffany right at the ending. I've never heard her curse!
I made a tweet about an hour ago but I forgot it was Thursday and they always seem to grab the most recent ones before they do a video.

My hopes keep getting higher for Rogue One

i see jonathan peck always get's his questions on every collider show
Harloff... please refer to yourself as HARLOFF MINOR... You earned it.
Great show guys! Love it!
I have a question for the Lore-masters: Is the 1st Inquisitor from Rebels the same character as "the Son" from Clone Wars???
No. This doesn't require a loremaster to answer if you've seen both series. The Son wasn't even a Jedi. The Inquisitor was at some point.
As much as Id usually rather actors take on different roles and styles of characters, I kinda really want to see Mads as a similar character to Hannibal and have a scene of him speaking with Palpatine and just enjoy watching them tryng to out evil manipulate each other!
54:47 "Any thoughts John? No? Ok moving on."
in the records it says anikan was killed with other Jedi defending the temple
I want to see Darth Vader go on a 100+ kill streak Star Wars Battlefront style
