I bought a large white trunk to store my infant niece’s stuff in ruclips.net/user/postUgkxNuLbiXpLQ-mKH5NlyjrNe88hiCk2N3Cg , as she comes to my house frequently. For now, it’s toys on one side and diapers, wipes, and other baby care items on the other. As she gets older, it will be all toys. I had originally wanted a trunk with a hinged lid, but I was afraid of her smashing or pinching her fingers in it. This will be a much safer option. The lid has great padding in it and it is actually nice to sit on. It feels very sturdy and secure. Looks like it can be wiped clean easily. If it gets abused by her, I won’t be terribly upset because I paid less than $50 for it on Prime Day.
I have 2 living rooms, sort of. One is more of a small sitting room thats ugly and uninviting, with no TV and with an uncomfortable as hell couch and when guests that we don't like come over that's where we take them. They don't stay very long at all.

You sound like my husband. He loves the over sized sofa!! I regret buying it now... we recently purchased a two story home and the sofa looks out of place basically. It doesn't go with my design I desire. The old house it was fine in a game room setting. I had no idea we were going to be moving within a year. It was very pricey. Very comfortable, but I can't really put accent chairs. I'm trying to find ideas of styles. Not everyone cares, but I do. I totally regret it!!
I liked the music but the volume needs to be down to background level, much quieter than the speaker. Like a tinkly piano in a bar, it is to warm the mood and enable conversation.

I have a marshmallow sofa. Let me tell you why it is my favourite one: because when I arrive home tired and want to rest while watching the tele, listening to music or reading, it is by far the most comfortable of them all. My body loves its softness, and being able to lift my legs makes the recliner a piece of heaven. My other sofa, which is like the ones you recommend, gets only used when having a coffee with a friend. It's good for a chat, and to look at, but not for a true rest. My parents have a Chesterfield sofa... far too hard for me. I guess it all depends of what the person wants the sofa for.
We just recently purchased a Marshmallow style sofa and loveseat but in a dark brown leather. I think it's called cat Naper. We all love it! Not very fancy looking but SUPER comfortable. I prefer comfort over style. We enjoy the time we spend at home relaxing and watching movies as a family on our puffy couch. I got a lot of criticism from friends saying that they were to ugly and bulky. My response was: "I furnish my home to my comfort and pleasure not to please others"😆
Loved your video (see my full comment earlier). But, you have to remember "wrong" for you and me is (just like Goldilocks) juuuuust right for somebody else. It seems several people were mostly annoyed that you're telling them what (not) to buy. Maybe a different title that wasn't so prescriptive would have been better. Like-- Sofas that are hard to decorate around; Sofas so ugly, your cat won't even pee on them... ummm.... ah, hell, some people just don't care. And, if everyone stopped buying these hideous sofas, think how many people around the world would be out of work. ;o) LOL! Best!
@@labradoriteatheart Wow. Relax. She clearly saw the comment, and I'm sure took it to heart. But that's a difficult criticism to respond to. The fact that she responded at all, AND in a positive way, shows that she felt positive about the comment that was left. I'm sure her next video has lower music. No need to get upset and rude.
HOLY SMOKES!!! I JUST LOVE YOU AND YOUR SUGGESTIONS!!! I'm an upholster and have a fabric and design studio. I have been working with clients and saying the same exact things FOREVER!!! YOU MY FRIEND ARE AWESOME. YOU HAD ME AT 3 COUCHES YOU SHOULD NEVER BUY!
Buying a sofa, is a different experience for everyone. No one should be able to tell you what type or style of sofa you should buy, you should buy it based on how you want it to function. Are you using it in front of a TV? Then you should go for comfort, sacrifice some style if you have to, to achieve this, in the long run, the comfort aspect will by far outweigh any style aspects. If you are using the sofa as more of a focal piece, then yes, you should concentrate on the style aspect, and blend the style of the sofa to its surroundings. I have seen far too many people focus on the style of a sofa, then are disappointed when they go to live in it, and its not comfortable. Remember, we live in our homes, you can often find comfort at the end of a long day on your sofa. Its great if its a show piece, but sometimes the only way to get the comfort you deserve, is to be willing to sacrifice a little style.
Jim Baker thanks for your comment. I run a class on making over your home and most of my subscribers are looking for honest design advice that will get them out of their rut. Never sacrifice style or comfort. You can have both. The giant mushroom sofas are EXPENSIVE and frankly a waste of your hard earned money. I am a real designer and give real solutions to my clients that look and feel good. So no hideous sofas. Lol
@@baiyinadotcom I love your advice, but in this case it's not a waste of money. My 20+ year leather marshmallow love seat shows a few wear only! If only I can upholstery it! 😁
I'm a man with a degree in Interior Decorating. I agree with your opinions. The sofa/love seat combo has been around so long that most consider it design blasphemy to consider anything else. Good job. Keep it up.
I'm not trying to be disrespectful, but your living room behind you does not look cozy or comfortable. It looks very rigid and formal, not relaxing at all.
I would fit so comfortably in her living room. I like comfort and beauty all in one. I've sat in one of those sofas and it was comfortable for me :) but to each his own, I suppose.
I've been bingeing your videos and just wanted to come back here after hearing you talk about leveling up to let you know that you're early 'controversial' videos have way more practical advice and info than a lot of other interior design influencers are putting out today and even though your style has evolved a ton, these were the videos that made an impression on me to make me subscribe. Just wanted to drop some positivity in among the people who'll die before relinquishing their marshmallow sofas and polypropylene rugs 😊
I like your video but have to agree with the music comments. Intro and outro seems best where one is talking and music throughout if no narration. Keep up the good work.

Vicky Garcia Same! But I envy the type of family who can own one (use it daily) and keep it looking clean! I feel like my kids could dirty up a sofa (or floor) as they just pass by it.
I totally agree! I have always owned antiques and current pieces. I've NEVER owned a sectional and while I do own a love seat, it is used in a master bedroom sitting area; NOT with my leather sofa in the living room. My antiques always remain (since 1980) and as styles change I update with upholstery (on the antiques when needed) and my accent / current pieces I "work in" . Everyone loves our home and feels comfortable in it. I love ❤️ watching your videos and great advice. Keep sharing!
You are sooooooooooo right. The three are mens man cave sofas. Stay clean lines, traditional, don't over do or think it. It's a couch not a gymnasium or sleep platform, that's what a bed is for.
Exactly why I don't want a big plush comfy couch in my living room. I don't want to spend a lot of time in front of the TV and I hate falling asleep in my living room so I decided to go for a firm couch.
I have a sectional that I have grown to hate because I find that my husband and some guess lay on it like its a bed. I am looking for a sofa that is comfortable, but not so much where ppl want sleep on it.
I call the "Marshmallow Sofa" the "Bro Sofa" ("Bro-fa"). Cos really, where d'you see them most often? Dorms/frat houses, dens/basements, and bachelors' homes. Yes, they are comfy and indestructible, high criteria for a bro. They also hide coins and crumbs for emergencies. (Suppresses vomit)
You are absolutely right about sectional sofas. Guests do not want to sit directly next to you and even having a loveseat adjacent to the sofa can still be too close for comfort. That is why I have a small Chesterfield sofa which is only 77" wide and two lounge chairs that sit across from the sofa. Guests prefer their own chair because it grants them personal space. Also, I have learned that if people perceive any obstacle between them and the door, it will subconsciously invoke feelings of anxiety, (people feel safer when they know they can quickly exit a space) so, I have positioned the chairs to somewhat face the front door. My guests naturally go for the chairs, every time.
I see what you mean about the Chesterfield sofa. it's nice. What what about safety, durability? What makes a sofa last? And can my 98-year old relative get in and out of it?
I work in the furniture and all your points were good however all point can be easily countered with the right pieces and what a customer needs or want.
I have had my leather marshmallow sofa over 15 years. Best Italian leather sofa I have ever bought. Cushions are like day it was bought. Leather has no wear.
Hi! Good ideas ... One complain ... Annoying background music... Plz avoid it in other videos. It's so annoying that I had to stop watching the video in the middle.
You give good, solid advice. I haven't bought a new sofa since 1997. I have Great Danes. If I ever go to a furry football kind of dog, I might consider a new sofa.
I think your living room is lovely! I am currently furniture shopping at the moment and am in love with the idea of a chesterfeild sofa! I want something comfortable, but I HATE those awful marshmallow couches..I feel like you nailed it when you said it's hard to figure out just exactly what style they are. The problem I am having is choosing two pieces of comfortable furniture that go nicely together, and can also seat everyone in a comfy way. I don't want to do matchy matchy, but I need either 2 couches or 1 couch and a loveseat for my space. We currently have a large couch and a chair. When it comes time to all sit together and watch tv...no one wants the lone chair. Also my kids like to lay down on the couch and hog it, and sometimes so do I..so again no one wants the chair. I but'd really like to do a couch and decent length loveseat, but I'm not sure what to pair together without being matchy matchy..which I'm not a fan of, but also not look off together. Suggestions??
My eldest brother has a HUGE white marshmallow leather sectional sofa....and it's awesome! His wife bought very pretty pillows to keep it interesting and pretty. I love it. It is great for our big family to have a movie night.
@@wifeyb.9779 the cloud couch is the UGLIEST thing you can willingly put in your house. Toilets are ugly, but you need them. Toilets are second to the could couch. They maybe comfortable and doze off for a nap on, but they’re UGLY.
Hi I've just come across your channel for the first time. I would like to disagree about the Chesterfield couch, it's one of the most uncomfortable seating I've ever sat in far to lower back extremely difficult to get comfortable in. but I do like the way you chose the other couches and I really like the couch you have in your sitting room. KeepSafe at this terrible time. God bless all of your family and everyone watching your channel.😇🙏
I've broken all 3 rules then, and happily so. Our marshmallow sofa is a massive 5 pc modular sectional. Each unit is wide enough to seat 2 ppl and long enough that the back of your legs are fully supported no matter how tall you are. Also they tend to offer more height so 6 ft ppl can sit back with shoulder support. The depth and height is such that you sit without feeling like you're sinking too deep, yet with enough recoil to not leave butt prints. You can seat 8 ppl on it comfortably with space & it can be turned into a U, L, and a box ... or separated into pairs, threes, or singular units. We have had many sleepover & Netflix parties where everyone was able to lay down with blankets. I have far more versatility bc it is modular. I've even separated my 5 pc to where I've taken 2 to put by the entryway & the other 3 in front of the TV. I've then, also put 2 pairs of sofas facing each other to make guest beds when guests sleepover. It also is stain-resistant & hasn't sunk down even though we use our couch far more than our beds. It's been 6 yrs ownership so far. I'm just upset that they no longer sell these at my furniture store, bc I'd love a different color for the basement of our future home.
Bought a chesterfield type sofa set. I’ve had it for 6 months and it hasn’t held up worth crap and isn’t very comfy. I just bought a very cushioned sectional with recliners. I’ll never choose style over comfort again. I think the new one looks very nice. It’s the Tambo Canyon by Ashley.
Watching this from my incredibly comfortable and stylish sleek U-shaped sectional. It cleverly pulls out to a 2-person bed, my brother and his GF live abroad and they occasionally stay over. And it fits as if it’s custom made. My living room is L-shaped, it fits in the short part of the L. 4-5 people can sit and still hold a conversation, more than that, and it’s just seating. My ex and I got this one, because we wanted to both be able to lounge, legs stretched out, etc. Different strokes for different folks, the most important thing about your house, is that it makes you happy. Not what’s dictated by trends. I happen to love calm interiors with white and earth tones and natural materials with little pops of color. People who like bright furniture and rooms stuffed to the brim, might hate my house. But that’s fine. Have to admit, your video titles are very off putting. Makes you look like a know it all.
I’m here trying to figure out which pottery barn sofa fabric to choose. Yet, your ideas are FANTASTIC and will help me with choosing a couch for decorating. Thank you!! Never knew I needed this RUclips ❣️
Stumbled across your channel looking to purchase a new sofa. I'm a very contemporary man have pretty good taste interested in buying an L shape sofa from CB2/ cool vid very upbeat personality. like the info perspective. I just hit like 👍🏽😊
Between multiple door openings, a sliding glass door, and a fireplace there is basically only one long wall where we can put furniture in the living room without making it awkward to walk around. We went with a long sectional with the chaise lounge on the end. I seriously love this style. It's both cozy and attractive. Agree with the marshmallow sofa, I don't even find them that comfortable to be honest.
Five places to sit in my home is unreasonable. I have 6 in my family and they often have friends over. I also have a large room. We have had 2 full size couches and a loveseat all at once and still some had to sit on the floor. It’s time for new furniture so I’m looking for tips for large rooms and families. I agree about the overstuffed couches and sectionals, although I am considering a reclining type for movie watching, but don’t dislike matching couches with a different chair or two. Thanks for the ideas!
msprissy1167 same here! And its actually beautiful. She needs to take into account that everyone has different style and needs. She should have named the video "3 sofas that I would never buy" instead of informing people what she feels their style should be. Smh lol
ikr like i have a u shaped sofa and i personally have lots of peeople come to my house so and an L shape sofa with 3 seats is small. u shaped sofas are not big lol for her it might be cuz its small room but i live in a house so big rooms big sofas
Most British homes aren't large enough fo a sectional, so therefore it dominates the room and you often have to squeeze around it. They are also not adaptable.
That Chesterfield sofa is gorgeous but I can guarantee it has a price tag of 1000.00 or more. If there were no dogs, grandchildren, a husband who can be messy or guests that may show up I might consider paying that much for a beautiful piece but that is not my world so I settle for a sofa I can use slipcovers with.
I agree with everything but the marshmallow. Marshmallow sofas are appropriate for a game room/ basement tv room. We just purchased reclining 'marshmallow' sofa for the basement. I would never have it upstairs but downstairs it is exactly what we wanted. It is a tailored marshmallow lol but still puffy and comfy in all the right places
Helen Pratt , very true. If you are blessed to have a home with a living/sitting room and a den/family room or basement those honking big azz puffy marshmallow shameless sofas are great. And get a nice diminutive clean line sofa. I love looking at old movies and TV shows for inspiration. Also have you noticed how you can only buy sofas in only 4 to 5 colors these days? Very boring and bland.
@@lettyguerra371 I agree. I purchased a sofa last year from Sofa Mart (Furniture Row). There were several different colors, designs, and materials to choose for the style of sofa I chose to purchase. I chose a solid deep aqua colored suede type of material. At the time when I purchased it was the same price to get a "regular" color or or to wait a few weeks longer by choosing one of the swatches for customization. This was the first time I was able to purchase a sofa. All my previous sofas and/or couches had been hand me downs up to this point. For years I always knew, when I was finally in the market to buy one, that I didn't want a common color like beige or brown.
@@rothieadunnigan2009 the aqua sounds gorgeous. I bought a cranberry-colored sofa ten years ago and I still love it. It looks great for my style (transitional) and isn’t a copycat of everybody else’s living room.

I like my "marshmallow" couch. I'd much rather be comfortable then have a fancy looking living room. Maybe if you're rich and have 3 different living rooms you might style the main one but for normal people who like to lay back and relax those couches you recommended look sooo uncomfortable..

Jeff Vader Old comment, but Yes!!! I agree! While watching I was wondering if she ever even sits on hers or if it is just pretty to look at & film in front of. My other thought was she must not have a home full of children and pets. I have a living room with furniture that allows us to hang out as a family and enjoy our time comfortably. I absolutely refuse to buy furniture just because it is beautiful. I won't get anything just because it's beautiful if it is also impractical.
@@Jamie-zs2bl I see all these light colors or white sofas & think how will it look it a year? Not realistic colors for most IMO, but SIL got one recently. Guess I'll see how well it works with having a teenager.
@@cmi7439 it may end up looking beige.. Lol. I love white sofas. I think they're gorgeous. But even having light cream colored leather seats in my car is a hassle to keep clean. Jeans dye rubs off on it... Even my hair dye will rub off on it if I lean against the head rest. So I can't imagine a white sofa would fare any better. Especially with a teenager!
Well heck I broke rule #1and #3 lol. I have a faux leather "marshmallow" couch and love seat with middle console/cupholders. I prefer my home be gorgeous yet practical. I want to be able to actually enjoy my home. I live down south, and grew up NOT being able to sit in the formal living room or my grandparents having this thick plastic on their furniture lol. The plastic prevented the sofa from getting dirty. Both my sofa and love seat all recline and we all enjoy playing my husband's game console, watching tv, or listening to our 5 years old daughter explain how her day went in the most dramatic way possible (pre-K cant possibly be that interesting). The set is a brown and I have gray pillows as well as white pillows on both and a 5 by 6 white faux sheep fur area rug. With the couches being pretty big, I do not have any other brown decor in my living room (well, I do have brown and white branches sitting in a silver 30 inch vase). All of the other decor is gray/silver/chrome or white. My coffee table is a small 3 tier clear glass with a white orchid in gray pot sitting on the top. I do get compliments on my living room but its comfy too.
Loved your video and found your comments valuable. I have modified marshmallows and they are driving me nuts. I've been looking for a sectional but for the very reasons you stated I don't think any sectional is going to work in my room. And I do not want the matchy-matchy look either. As for the extremely rude comments below, people are so incredibly insecure that they take your strong opinions as attacks on their personal style and choices. All designers have strong opinions -- both fashion and interior designers. They all talk like you, making strong statements about what's in or what's out, or whatever. You did clearly state that you know your sofa style is not for every one. Did people not hear that? I have seen several of your videos and you have never come off as pretentious to me. Artsy and opinionated, yes. Pretentious, no. There is some kind of strange and totally unjustified hating type of vibe going on in the comments below. Please ignore that stuff. You are a classy, beautiful, articulate and talented lady. If people don't want to hear from a designer they shouldn't watch your videos.
I agree with you on all those sofas being a thumbs down. I also don't like living room SETS. I have 2 similar sofas facing each other but my living room is huge. I love it.
Really the problem with all sofas is that they are poorly designed and quality and comfort are not considered. A sofa is more and more expensive investment everyday! Stores carry the so called marshmallow furniture for one reason only THEY SELL. The reason they sell is because of comfort and durability. Of course of speaking of the quality marshmallow sofas. The average life span of a sofa is ten years in an active family of five. Now I'm not a furniture designer but wouldn't the furniture designers not take notice and use the the marshmallow sofa as an example or jumping of point to designing new an innovated sofas for mass production so we can get the best of both worlds. I agree I'm so past the sofa love seat and chair phase but unfortunately furniture stores are not. It's frustrating tomboy a sofa now a days because designers are so behind the needs of the customers they are trying to sell to.
I didn't think I was going to like the video but I actually do. It's just that many of us are stuck with what we have. I'm using the dark blueish leather sofa and loveseat my husband bought before we got married. Not something I would have picked out but I made it work using a misture of throw pillows, chrome lamps, and I recovered an ottoman that added a modern/eclectic look. I also have a white puffy leather reclyner which is a must have for the hubby, and two black and white armless chairs that I adore. I use the love seat in another room with two soft, beige arm chairs because it was just too much furniture for the living room. I wish I could post photos here because I'm pleased with the look of both rooms JUST USING WHAT I HAD. YOU CAN MAKE IT WORK IF YOU PUT YOUR MIND TO IT.
Thanks for your thoughts on sofas. I am selling my five seater leather chaise and ottoman. I bought it because we have a narrow lounge room, and because the ottoman pushed in created a double bed for extra guests. But in effect it was a two seater or lounging chaise because you are right people do not sit side by side to talk. I have ordered a two seater, two recliners and two occasional chairs. The are all modest in proportions and as you said easy to move and adapt to social situations. I will be able to seat six, one per sleeping position. I am looking see if I can get an accent chair on wheels that can do double duty as extra seating and office chair.
These are your opinions. I'm a decorator, and I try to help my clients get what they want. I agree on the sofa glove seat combo. Two chairs are better as almost always only one person sits on it.
The one sofa you should buy is the one that you like! Regardless of style. (Just don't put plastic covers on it! LOL!) The Chesterfield sofa IS stylish, but uncomfortable--the back is hard and too low. However, it would LOOK good in a room that you don't use often.
When I heard the presenter pronounce the term “chaise longue” as “chase lounge”, my attention switched from her intended message to her actual words, and I asked myself whether she even knows what she’s talking about here. A chaise longue has nothing to do with a dude named chase, and while it can be lounged in, the “longue” simply means “long”, not “lounge”. It is simply and quite literally a long chair.
You have some valid points, but a good designer knows how to incorporate the furniture appropriately in specific spaces. I so wish I could upload a picture of my beautiful, large family room using big, cream, leather furniture. My family room is where we hang out, this type of furniture may not fit in a living or formal room, but most people want their home to look nice a be comfortable!
GUILTY AS CHARGED, your Honour! I've had matching sofas for 4 years 😩! I was looking at them the other day, wishing I hadn't been so hasty with the purchase, but it was 'on trend' at the time, and I based it on the show home I visited. Big mistake. I thought they make a timeless addition to my living room. Hey ho...
Love the Chesterfield but no way my husband would accept that low-back style when he is used to a lazyboy recliner. Any recliner recommendations that don't look like marshmallows! :)
Lol not sure how marshmallow sofas ever end up in a house but they are my biggest pet peeve. Your home is a representation of you, so basically you walk in and see the person is either lazy or has no clue. Looks like you’re straight up sitting on garbage bags lol
I agree that marshmallow sofas aren’t the most attractive furniture, but if you have kids or pets and actually use your living room, they can be the perfect thing. You’d be surprised what a few pillows and a snazzy throw over the back can do to make it more stylish.
I want to follow your advice soooo bad it's killing me! My husband and I have serious back injuries and therefore need the reclining sofa. I wish we did not because I love interior design and have hated the look of every reclining sofa I've endlessly shopped for and own. It's simply a necessity for us. I personally worked so hard when I was younger I litterally blew out the disc in my back...my husband jumped out of one too many airplanes serving our country sooo now even though our home is gorgeous our sofa is truly a eyesore (hate hate hate the look of these monstrosities) however OMG what a relief to people like us who suffer from chronic pain! It's worth having a ugly couch when it actually provides some pain relief :) love you and your videos Baiyna! Just wanted you to know why some of us actually have no choice in this particular interior design topic.
I sometimes call the 1st sofa "the doodoo couch" because it looks like a lump of turd, especially when it is colored deep brown . It definitely is comfortable and obviously, its owner does not concern themselves with home decor-which is their perogative. But I personally think those marshmallow/aka, "doodoo couches" are totally hideous. 😑

Yes, the big marshmallow sofa is comfy and perfect for relaxation. Also to lay down and watch a Netflix marathon.
Your advice is great!... But the music on your video is too distracting... found it hard to concentrate on what you were saying
Thank you, I'm glad this information resonated. People don't realize how much money you waste buying the wrong sofas
And, if everyone stopped buying these hideous sofas, think how many people around the world would be out of work. ;o) LOL! Best!
Love the music!!!!
Thing is I only am comfortable in a recliner. It’s tough to find one that’s modern. They usually come in grandma and man cave.
Try Lazy Boy, if you are looking for comfy/modern
Try natuzzi italia. Modern reclining sofas
Mid-century designs are comfortable :). Eames Lounger is a fav
Me too. There is nothing as comfy as a big leather recliner. I like staying somewhat up to date with decor. But furniture needs to be comfy first.
try ZuriFurniture.
Tone down the background music; it is too loud.
Here_We_Go_Again3 ok. I need a sound engineer!
I would like to upholstery my marshmallow love seat! 🥰
Lol
baiyinadotcom agreed, lovely advice
I love my sectional in our family room. I rearrange it several ways. Its soo comfy plus good looking! We're very happy with it.
Karen. That's one of those rooms people just look at. They only go into it to wipe off the dust. I call them girl caves..
Karen Adams it’s beautiful
I would fit so comfortably in her living room. I like comfort and beauty all in one. I've sat in one of those sofas and it was comfortable for me :) but to each his own, I suppose.
I disagree. I’d do all sorts of entertaining in there but that’s my lifestyle. I know a lot of people from whom this wouldn’t work.
Karen Adams Lmfao 😂🤣
I've been bingeing your videos and just wanted to come back here after hearing you talk about leveling up to let you know that you're early 'controversial' videos have way more practical advice and info than a lot of other interior design influencers are putting out today and even though your style has evolved a ton, these were the videos that made an impression on me to make me subscribe. Just wanted to drop some positivity in among the people who'll die before relinquishing their marshmallow sofas and polypropylene rugs 😊
Kill the background music while you're talking. That said, 😥 I do like your tips so I'm giving a thumbs up to it. 🏡🌺

Everyone is a movie director these days!
Just Me I love the music tho'.
Richard Foo Hi, I like the type of music, just not that loud while she was talking. 🌞
Sorry but can i ask....is your sofa even comfortable? It looks rigid and all those pillows... Where do you sit? Do those pillows end up on the floor ?
it's super comfy!!
baiyinadotcom you live alone that's why...😁😁😁😁
lol exactly my taught. she is giving the priority to looks over comfort
I like your video and you couch looks comfy too me. You are very right about the couch/love seat combo, dealing with that right now.
munna k I have a lot of pillows on my sofa and yes, they do end up on the floor.
I like your video but have to agree with the music comments. Intro and outro seems best where one is talking and music throughout if no narration. Keep up the good work.
You just described all of the sofas my husband likes. Haha! Dang husband is messing up my style vibe. 🤣
My husband & I never agree on sofas, ha ha, she has some good points.
I’d never buy a white sofa. They are magnets for stains! My opinion.
Vicky Garcia totally! It’s not for everyone.
Vicky Garcia your right
I have a light Cream sofa I've had it now for 12 years I live N an apartment I have no stains or spots on my sofa no 1 but me is allowed to eat on it. No red soda is Allowed N my apartment lol If I notice a small spot I immediately go 4 my Shout Stain Removal with a lil water on a white towel
I have no problems Guess I'm anal like that 😊😂
Scotchguard
Vicky Garcia Same! But I envy the type of family who can own one (use it daily) and keep it looking clean! I feel like my kids could dirty up a sofa (or floor) as they just pass by it.
I'm sure you'll series is excellent but that music is far too Loud and Incredibly irritating so
Thank you! This video was so helpful and informative. I learned more here in 6 minutes than in reading a whole decorating book. You're great.
I want to hear your valued opinion, not the hyped up jazzy background music which competes against your words.
I'll go for the couch and matching loveseat always! !!!
I have the big sectional sofa and it works just fine.
I like that you came up with positive tips/alternatives, rather than just saying negative comments against poorer choices.
You are sooooooooooo right. The three are mens man cave sofas. Stay clean lines, traditional, don't over do or think it. It's a couch not a gymnasium or sleep platform, that's what a bed is for.
Exactly why I don't want a big plush comfy couch in my living room. I don't want to spend a lot of time in front of the TV and I hate falling asleep in my living room so I decided to go for a firm couch.
ughh sleeping in the living room....!!!! ...within a year the couch is squashed and smelly!!
good points!
I have a sectional that I have grown to hate because I find that my husband and some guess lay on it like its a bed. I am looking for a sofa that is comfortable, but not so much where ppl want sleep on it.
I'm a bachelor, this woman is so smart, and helped me out very much. Thanks!
Where were you when I was sofa shopping several years ago? Fantastic Video and advice. Love the music too! Thanks
This video is almost 4 years old and still accurate! Very impressive!
I work in the furniture and all your points were good however all point can be easily countered with the right pieces and what a customer needs or want.
Great video!!! but gosh i absolutely love my leather marshmallow sectional🤣 .......and it looks awesome ....great video tho

Mish Hani this is the one vid where I made it too loud by accident. Sorry
That means 3 seaters recliner is not suitable for living room?
I like matching sets. I have managed to have a lot of versatility. I think it is a matter of preference. Teach us how to work with what we have.
If know what you are doing matching sets can look amazing
This was actually very helpful and I got a great idea! Thanks!
The "marshmallow sofa" is the most common sofa, hands down. Lol!
My eldest brother has a HUGE white marshmallow leather sectional sofa....and it's awesome! His wife bought very pretty pillows to keep it interesting and pretty. I love it. It is great for our big family to have a movie night.
I'm a huge fan of the ginormous sectional. To each their own.

I'm just upset that they no longer sell these at my furniture store, bc I'd love a different color for the basement of our future home.
hey, well if it works for you, thats great! thanks for watching and commenting
Let’s see your rack
I just hit like 👍🏽😊
South Standards thank you. I’m loving cb2 right now and really their sectionals
OMG!!! Where were you in the past 20 years??? Just found your channel and got so hooked!!!
I looooooove your videos!!
Hate the marshmallow sofa! I also hate marshmallow recliners. I remember being a little kid and thinking the same thing. LOL!
You right!!!
I️ love my extra large sectional. Everyone else does too.
msprissy1167 same here!
I know I do
I agree the music is a bit much. But the tips are great👍🏾
I enjoy my matching sofa and loveseat, thank u very much ;)
That Chesterfield sofa is gorgeous but I can guarantee it has a price tag of 1000.00 or more.
Thanks for sharing your perspective!
@@lettyguerra371 Aahh! Limited colour palette, it's true! And few of us have the budget for custom upholstery! Certainly not I!

Ooooo the velvet couch from anthropology so pretty
Haha the second picture for the ‘marshmallow sofa’ is pretty much exactly the sofa my boyfriend bought. Trying to faze it out now with the other decor. Not to mention it WASNT indestructible and for the price it sure should have been
Excellent about the Chesterfield sofa!
Love your advice. Funny in the UK pillows are only on the bed to sleep on. What you have on the sofa are called cushions here!
I like my "marshmallow" couch. I'd much rather be comfortable then have a fancy looking living room. Maybe if you're rich and have 3 different living rooms you might style the main one but for normal people who like to lay back and relax those couches you recommended look sooo uncomfortable..
I loved the information & I agree with you. Please don’t play the music so loud, it’s annoying & disruptive to the great knowledge you present. With great respect.
all this said while standing in front of a sofa and chair that probably never get sat in and if they did would be very uncomfortable
Jamie Winters That makes alotta sense 💖💖
So true!!
Shiva G thank you so much!!
😍😍🤗😘😘😘😘 thank you sister. I was a bit nervous at the start but by saying Chesterfield sofas are good... u sealed my choice is good.
. . . I glance over to my living room and see my new matching "marshmallow" couch and loveseat. . . 😅
Sooooo comfortable! 🥰
Some marshmallow sofas look really good! And I love matching loveseats as well
I agree with you on all those sofas being a thumbs down.
Totally agree
It may be comfortable- but it sure is ugly. Its like a big stuffed vinyl box in a room.
I've made almost all these mistakes!! Ugh. I agree with all your tips! ❤️❤️❤️
Super like but pls redo the video without the background music
ok no more music. i'm going to make a video on the 3 sofas you SHOULD buy
Great ideas something to think about next time I purchase a sofa.
In your opinion, what's the best sofa to do four play on?
That background music is too loud and agitated. It's hard to concentrate on what you are saying.
These are your opinions. I'm a decorator, and I try to help my clients get what they want. I agree on the sofa glove seat combo. Two chairs are better as almost always only one person sits on it.
Nice content, would love to see better video quality of yourself & the music was hard to listen to. New sub!
Mel.M. Leolahi thanks Mel! I’m working on this!! For 2018.
I didn't know this. What is the proper pronunciation?
@@LettyB76, “shez long.”
Thanks! I bought a black 3 seater sofa but should my couch face the window right st living room entry or the wall?
The music in the video is so annoying and distracting ,I couldn’t continue watching !!!!
I agree. Can’t stand the music and actually the living room behind her isn’t that appealing. It’s too old fashioned
Just brought the southern motion elevate collection modern sofa but reclines love it.
my living room is not made to be modern or in style. it's made to be cosy and comfortable.
Cosy, comfy, clean..yes ma'am
Does that mean it can't look good too?
Music is SUPER DISTRACTING but the information is good. Worth a listen.
Lol not sure how marshmallow sofas ever end up in a house but they are my biggest pet peeve. Your home is a representation of you, so basically you walk in and see the person is either lazy or has no clue. Looks like you’re straight up sitting on garbage bags lol
Courtney Koç ...oh fuck right off
Ha ha! I'm sorry
Very helpful and aesthetic tips. Distracting and loud music. I like your enthusiasm!
I agree that marshmallow sofas aren’t the most attractive furniture, but if you have kids or pets and actually use your living room, they can be the perfect thing. You’d be surprised what a few pillows and a snazzy throw over the back can do to make it more stylish.
I just sent this to my sister, and will send her the new one about chairs. Love your videos, Baiyina!
