What a gorgeous coat on you! I have never made or heard of the Cambria duster until now! Like you, I love everything about it! It is a very happy coat, and I can see you wearing it for quite some time! ❤❤❤
Your duster looks fab! Great description. I’m tracing the pattern out now and I am a similar height (t-Rex arms and legs too hahaha) and size so your fit notes are perfect!
Hi Michelle, I'm with you on the torso. I'm five foot with T-rex arms and short legs but all my length is in my body. I Love the duster, it looks great on you 😀
Hi Michelle, thank you for your review, I will definitely put this on my 2024 sewing list! I am new to your channel, thanks to Sarah from knottygnome. Your coat is very becoming, best wishes from another Michelle.
Hi Michelle! Thank you so much for checking my channel out - isn't Sara the best?!?! And I'm so glad you like the jacket - I'm so happy with how it turned out!!
I have had my eye on that pattern for a while, but hesitated because we don’t get a lot of cold. Now I am thinking again about it. Your duster just makes me happy. Love the fabric choice.
It's perfect for those "just a little chilly" days or even for colder days if you're layered up with a sweater. It's the perfect solution to climates where you don't need a "real" coat. I think you would love it Christine!
What a fun and useful make. Glad you had a big success. I’m past due for a success so I’m making the Cashmerette Club’s latest coat (last month, I think).
Thanks Zelda! If I ever had time when I was there for a meet up it would be fun to meet! It's usually non-stop work and work dinners though. Maybe one day!!
I have this pattern but haven't made it yet.. you have definitely inspired me to make it now 🙏.. Your version is gorgeous and it looks wonderful on you 💖👌. Merry Christmas 🎄🥰😘
I have this same fabric:) My husband got it for me for Christmas ....fell in love with it when in Joann's..I was planning on making a lined flannel shirt/jacket not sure now:) I am 4' 11" small frame and 65 years old...find it always a challenge to found a good fit...I live in CA but born in Sarasota, FL:) Have a great New Years! "M" wound be cute! NOW..... 4 Hours later..... I just got the fabric washed and dry.... I was placing the pattern "cambria duster" and the stripes are way way off...When folded the way the fabric wants to be the stripes are way off.....I was hoping to match stripes...so bumped the big strips are at an angle... Hoping to return it to Joann's:(?????
I'm so bummed that your stripes were so far off! I didn't try to pattern match, so I don't know if I would have had the same issue. I think Joann is pretty good about taking things back that are "off". Good luck!
I haven't made this but it looks and sounds easy. That is the most attractive plaid I've seen in a long while. Agree about the sewn-on ties so you don't lose your tie. I made hubby a pair of pajama pants for Xmas in gray plaid flannel and I may go back and get 6 more yards of it to make this for myself. 👍 I've rarely found patterns like this to be "intermediate." Without zips, buttons, darts, or even elastic, this looks like a great pattern for a somewhat seasoned beginner. Terrific review. Happy holidays! 🦩🦩⛄️
Oh how fun to match with hubby! I love that idea 😊. And I agree, without any of those fasteners and not very many "tricky" techniques, I think a confident or adventurous beginner could nail this 😊. Happy Holidays!!
It does look fabulous. I thought it might be too much in a colourful plaid, but it is great. I did buy the pattern after the local sewing centre had it made up but I just haven’t got around to it. I’m wondering if it would work for an unlined wool coat.
Thank you - I love lots of color, so it's not too much for me - but I can see how it might be for people who prefer solids or neutrals. I do think it would work for an unlined wool - especially if you did the Hong Kong seam finishes - it would look amazing!
I’ve sewn the duster once and loved the pattern. But it didn’t fit me in the biceps and the shoulder-put part. It was way to small and I couldn’t hardly couldn’t get into it. So I unpicked all the side seams and the underarm seams and inserted two triangles. But it spoiled the lines… merry Christmas to you!
What a bummer about the biceps not fitting! I wonder if I didn't have that problem because I went with the larger size? I'm sorry yours didn't work out 😩
Michelle, love, love 💗
Thank you Stephanie!
A great review of this duster! Your duster is beautiful in that plaid and looks great on you😊. Thank you for sharing. Merry 🎄
Thank you so much Brenda!! Merry Christmas 😊

You’ve made such a beautiful coat. It seems like the perfect layering piece.
Thank you!

Thanks so much Myra! It only took me about 2 1/2 hours once I got the fabric cut out. I recommend it!
Such a great fabric. It looks wonderful.
Thank you Diane!!
Love the plaid-great choice for a duster! I love the idea of putting an M on the collar❤
Thanks!! I think I might work on that tonight 😊

I love the fabric! Those colors are amazing. I haven't made this pattern but it does look interesting.

I love your coat. I love the material... I made scarves with a hidden pocket for my daughters out of it.
Oh that sounds fabulous!
Beautiful!!
Thank you! 😊
It's lovely Michelle! I've looked at that pattern on a regular basis but was put off by a negative comment. You've re-inspired me! Merry Christmas 🌲⭐
I never read reviews LOL - I guess in this case, I'm glad I didn't! I probably should more often though. Thanks Catriona!
I love it! I really like the fabric choice and it’s a nice design. 💞
Thanks Izzy! I love it so much!
Hi Michele, I love the Duster ❤️. I just ordered the fabric you used. I think will make a short jacket next year 😊. Have a Merry Christmas 🎄
Oh that fabric will look good in any style jacket I think! I can't wait to hear what you make 😊. Merry Christmas!!
What a fun and useful make. Glad you had a big success. I’m past due for a success so I’m making the Cashmerette Club’s latest coat (last month, I think).
Oh have fun with it Barbara! I hope it turns out exactly as you hope 😊💕
Merry Christmas, Michelle. The duster looks beautiful. I live in Ohio.
