    We shop Costco 2 or 3 times a month. 1 time for a huge haul and the other 2 times is just for a smaller amount. But we have Costcos 15-20 minutes away. In 3 different locations. But we love Costco for the organic food!!!! Yes !!! The lettuce lasts for 4-5 weeks!!! We get to bags and it lasts that long !!

    I used to have the entire set of 8 soup mugs from that collection. Tomato, potato, chicken vegetable, onion, scotch, oxtail and mushroom
    They were from the mid 70's and we used them for many many years. This brought back a memory I totally forgot about 🙂
    AND if I am not mistaken, they also had a Spanish version cuz my mom had a Sopa de Pollo

    I’m so so so excited to hear about the food preservation. I only shop once every 2.5-3 weeks. But the last week or so I always notice my romaine lettuce is going bad along with a lot of other things so I’ve been trying to figure out how to make produce last longer

    • @buckonono7996
      @buckonono7996 11 месяцев назад

      What I do to keep our romaine fresh is to cut it up for salads, fill my freshly scoured sink with cold water and a Tbsp of bleach, soak and mix the romaine for 10 minutes, rinse very well and then spin dry. Once it is dry I pack it into clean mason jars and add a lid and ring. It keeps in the fridge for at least five weeks! I find we eat more salads since all you have to do is shake some out of the jar. There is no bleach taste at all and it doesn't get brown edges. Just fresh, green and crisp lettuce.

    You can also keep celery a couple months if you wrap the whole stalk(with root end on) in damp(not dripping wet) paper towel then roll that in foil and close well. I keep in crisper for several months.

    I definitely understand about being gluten-free and watching the grains I buy due to food intolerance & allergy. It's a struggle when shopping and going out. I have food intolerance & allergies to the most common foods...I'm making things from scratch most of the time, so it's a lot of trial & error with gluten-free & grain free items!

    FYI - when celery was so expensive a couple years ago I discovered a storage trick that works. I buy a bunch of celery and I leave it connected in the bunch and then wrap it in foil wrap and refrigerate it. This does not work with cut stalks but will keep the celery quite fresh for a few weeks, which is great since there are just two of us now. It may start to go off at the top if I don't use it quickly enough for cooking or adding to tuna salad for example, so I often cut off the top inch or so (with the leaves) before I wrap it.

    I have the same exact chicken soup mug. My mom bought it for me-I believe from dollar general-years ago when I was sick and living/working in another state. I'm in my 60's, mom has been gone 5yrs this month and it is still a treasured possession and I use it everytime I'm sick. ♥ There were other versions of the mug as well. A tomato soup, onion soup and an oxtail soup that I remember.

    I've been buying the same things as you guys at Costco. Love the cassava chips too!! Way better price at Costco. We opt for coconut products over almond. I recommend quinnoa too. So good! Lots of lunch salads w/ the quinnoa. They have it there in a big bag. They have venison chomps at Walmart too. My 13 yr old daughter and I are GF, DF, and more. Very similar!! Nice to see someone on YT who is doing healthy meal prep and pantry storage. I'm trying to freeze things and freeze dry more often. 😊

    I just found your channel and I’m loving it! I also eat organic because I notice a difference in my chronic pain and fatigue if I don’t. I am horrible at staying on track with cooking dinner though. I start out strong with meal prepping and then after a week or two I just completely fall off the wagon and then I scramble at night to feed my family. I am a stay at home mom to three kids who are all now in public school. We used to homeschool but as I’ve gotten older, they wanted to go to public. So I should have plenty of time to meal prep and get things done, but somehow I have no time and I really want to change that. I’m looking forward to your future meal prep videos!
