How does this piece of alt rock history get only 100k+ views? This is in my canon of classics and I'm pretty sure for at least a few million or so others that were around to witness this happen.
Well, you tell me! I cannot understand why this generations of auto-tuned artists with their "AAh, Ah, Uh uh, Eh Eeh, Uuh, uuh" are so hyped and popular, but I have a hunch this is gonna be spoken about hundreds of yrs forward as the "decay & fall of the western music phenomenon!"
I just wanna give a shout out to this tune's co-writer, Karl Bartos - him out of Kraftwerk. He also co-wrote five other songs on this near-forgotten album. HERO!
It was the end of the 80's and I was involved in a music production when I was introduced to the group Electronic....after more than 20 years ...finally I can enjoy this band in it's full force and versatility....Thanks to all music search engines and You Tube....Long live the 80's
This came out when I was 11. For some reason it struck a chord with me and Iiked it. I remember singing it during an art class at school on one hot sunny day in the summer term. Another pupil heard me singing and said the song was "boring". I still love this tune and listen to it on sunny days and it takes me back. Great memories.
Nearly 22 yrs old, and it STILL sounds so good.... First of all these two men saved my life as a teenager and have been playing behind the scenes of my life for decades now. Having said that it's always really shocked me that Bernard Sumner has gotten so much criticism for New Orders lyrics?
Maryanne Dionne I know right. People have to keep in mind that it was Curtis writing most/if not all of joy divisions lyrics and for him to step up as lead vocalist, remain guitarist and become songwriter too for new order. He's an idol to me personally and I couldn't care less what people say about him.
What people also forget or don't know, is that when the decided to form New Order, the reason why Bernie was given the lead singer position. Is because he was the only one who could play an instrument and sing at the same time, so he had some pretty big shoes to fill in all areas.
well I'm 54 and I remember when I first heard this, Gadzooks I was only 41 !!!...........I love it as much now as I loved it then, (am I allowed to say that at my age?) oh well. Great posting.
1996. I was 17 that Summer, on the cusp of 18. And what a time to be that age. The music, the culture, the way the world felt at that time was somehow better back then. I'm sure every generation says this, but I'd love to go back to those days for a week or two and visit.
And how exactly it was better???? What a bu***it. I remember those times perfectly. Now is better. Now I can watch whatever I want without crappy television and listen whatever I want without crappy radio. My own ultimate choice. Without East 17 and Spice Girls on MTV. Full access to almost everything from The Beatles to Lil Nas X at once. Now is much much better.
I remember in my teens, being on a road trip through Germany, waited for the release of this record, and I found it in a fantastic record store in Hamburg, buying it and poppin it in the CD and going 240km/h down the Autobahn at dawn...such memories just tend to stick. Why do we not see more of this genius kind of music-making nowadays? (I guess it's unfair to other artists comparing them to the major harmonical influence of Joy Division and New Order...)
@@ulrichkristensen4087 Can't remember, it was on some fancy street running a block or two parallel with the Alster, lots of high end clothes stores etc.
The best time of our lives… it was tremendous! We’d never have imagined what the world would turn into! We need more of this music, to escape the crazy and dystopian reality before our eyes and create something truly incredible again.
I guess im a super young fan of electronic(18), but god I love Bernard Sumner and Johnny Marr. I'm in love with New Order and JD too. And whenever I listen to this song it gives me hope and peace. That intro is just so calming to me. Two genius's coming together making an amazing band

That was a trio made in heaven.
it's so weird to think 1996 was 22 years ago... damn, those were the days. Cheers to all fellows who had the chance to live them!
And now it's 23 years ago. ;)
And now 24......

This and 'Getting Away With It' are two of my all time faves. I have no idea why views aren't in the millions!

Discovering electronic was the best thing that ever happened to me :)

Excuse me, can I recommend another band for you? This band is called The Smiths.
@@sufyanlowel4631 i love the smiths!
If you like Electronic, I'd suggest you listen to Peter Hook's Revenge.

LYRICS
There's not a hope
While you're in this kind of mood
Too much to drink
But not enough to lose
You tore me apart
Now I've got to suffer
I wish I'd been around when you started this
Give me a chance
I'd show you what I could do
You're in a trance
And I'm not so fond of you
You may be a friend
But you're not my relation
But you're the only person I ever knew
And it's too late to wash my hands
We're caught in a trap
Set for a man
There is a wind
That blows in the northern skies
Holding me back
No matter how hard I try
If I had the sense
I'd leave here tomorrow
I wouldn't even bother to say goodbye
But it's too late to wash my hands
We're caught in a trap
Set for a man
Would you lie to me
If you thought I was wrong
You deserted me
When it all went wrong
Would you lie to me
Would you lie to me
Would you lie to me
If you thought I was wrong
You deserted me
When it all went wrong
But it's too late to wash my hands
We're caught in a trap
Set for a man
Come back Electronic, we need you now more than ever
Amazing musicians and a legacy of great music
A fan since I won an autographed copy of their debut CD. 😀
Still brings tears to my eyes! Thank You Guys! Immortal!

A masterpiece that stands the test of time
Amazing how finding an old song can take you straight back to that summer and listening to this on the radio in 1996 😀
Effortlessly cool. Would love another Electronic album.
Beautiful. It has one of the best guitar solos. Simple and emotional.
Absolutely "Fucking " Awesome !!! Long live Bernard ! Brilliant songwriter and one of the best artists that we have ever produced FACT!!

Classic from two legends.
We are in need of more Electronic for 2023 🙏🏻🔊🔊🔊🔊❤️
Probably my fave from Electronic catalog. Awesome tune got lost in grunge craze in America.
Music that softens the northern soul
Remember coming home from work to see on 120 Minutes. Probably one of like three times it was ever on MTV
Heard this on serius Xm. I totally forgot my favorite break up song ever,,,,,music conjures up memories good and bad.
One more album please Johnny and Bernard !!!
Genius guitar solo.
Johnny Marr, one of the best guitarist this country has ever had. The genius behind The Smiths, and others, even did work with Talking Heads.
FEEDBACK SOLO!!!!! I mean seriously, who else does a feedback solo. Gotta love JM!
Pete Townshend of The Who on Anyway Anyhow Anywhere and Lou Reed on White Light White Heat.
Hi,
It's not a feedback solo...
It's a E-Bow solo‼️
✌🏻👾

love the guitar break in the middle of this song.
Indeed a great solo, matches perfect with song and what it leads into.
Fantastic song. It got loads of airplay on Virgin radio at the time.
I've been searching for many times, and finally I found this song❤️❤️❤️
