Who’s still listening to this awesomeness in 2024😊
It’s getting harder.
Me!! Love this band. In Limburg an der Lahn.
Human League just been announced to play in my hometown of Halifax at the Piece Hall and that are supported by Blancmange and local lad Tom Bailey of Thompson twins fame . July 11th 2025 , be a good night 😁
@ that’s so awesome, enjoy
🙋♂
There are songs that never get boring, no matter how often you listen to them over the years! This is one of them! Thank you Neil and Stephen! 🙂
Absolutely right.
A classic
Blancmange definitely kicked ass with this song and video
You"nailed" it!😊
Who is that lady. She is the coolest
I was in England when all this music was released. What a time to be alive.
Absolutely.
i was in shuswap bc canada.. brilliant times!
80s was and is the best and will never be matched
How does this comment only have 3 👍up unbelievable
This is how we know time travel will never exist. Because the 80s would be really, really packed. We would all go there……and stay.
It's not even close. The depth, the creativity and the choice. Something for everyone!
Summer 1983 classic 👌.
😂😂😊
I love early 80s music, blancmange made some great singles, this one was my favourite.
This is just fkn brilliant, this was in the charts when I was teenager.. I'm 57 now, damn where does the time go.
I'm the same age with the same perplexity about time.
Into everywhere and nowhere at the same time.
Wait till you pass 75 ! LOL
Same here. Almost 58.
yeah im 54, i had it on a tape taped off the charts when it was out as a kid
This is one of the best songs ever made and a huge inspiration for us!
Make no mistake, this track is bloody brilliant. It honestly is. And it's one of those tunes that begs to be played loud. So do. You won't regret it. Every nuance hits you.
2024 music? Nah. Not interested. Take me back four decades instead please....
Absabloodylootely!
@@garthkearney5600 Good to know I'm not alone! 👍🏻
underrated band
This was one of those songs that just seemed completely original and fresh at the time in 1984. The first half of the 80s was superior to the second half regarding pop music!
America could never get this vibe/ same with Brit pop. With lov Detroit.
Stephen was a talented multi-instrumentalist, very underrated
Always loved this since I discovered it on one of my parents old cassettes back in about 1995. Still sounds amazing after all these years.
Uhuh I lived for cassettes
Great tune for sure-I remember it at the time in 1983, although I was only 15 then at the time!
Thank you though too!
Ein echter Hammer-Song der wunderbaren 80er Jahre. Genau das richtige Lied um sich auf der Tanzfläche auszupowern. Ich liebe diesen Song.
Oh yeah! 🎸👽👍
i stupidly listened to my boyfriend 26 years ago to put my vinyl out for a garage sale. Somebody with great taste bought my blancmange album and a few others. I was HORRIFIED and pulled my vinyl back inside and never forgot losing my blancmange vinyl. love it!!!
Hope you put your boyfriend out in the next garage sale?!
Hope you put the BF out for collection
Oh mein Gott!!! Blancmange in den 80er...wie konnte ich sie vergessen🤧, manchmal hat der Algorithmus doch etwas Gutes an sich.War damals eine Art von Hymne für mich...🖖
I first saw Blancmange with Depeche Mode at Rock City in Nottingham 1981.
I’ve loved this song for 10+ years and I still can’t tell if they hate or love pudding yet
Stephen was such a talented multi-instrumentalist.
Very underrated.

I'd forgotten just how good this is!

Watching this, August 2024 - aged 56. Those were the days!
Fu*k#ng love this track, this and running thin are my fav blancmange tracks of all time.
This video always kicks ass when I use to watch it on MTV my all time favorite video without a doubt
I love this song. And most of the music that these two men who called themselves Blancmange created. Brilliant.
Seeing this classic vid again has made me wonder if it was just me who had a teenage crush on the scary blancmange lady...
I read somewhere she is Neil's mother. Not sure if it is true or where I read it.
Yeah tell me about it dude 🤣
She was good looking
@@neilwardle9283 weirdo😂
The perfect 80s sound 👍
Saw them live just after this came out. They were soooo gooood live!!!!!! One of the best live.
I'm going to see them In May in Manchester.
I love Blancmange so much. Bowie would have gotten 5 songs out of each of theirs. 😎♥️
They were supporting Erasure on their last tour. Love their ABBA cover of The Day Before You Came 💚🩷❤️
I just discovered this a few days ago, and I am absolutely obsessed with it! And the woman in the video reminding me of a very young Edith Bunker only makes it more fabulous!!!!!!
Absolute banger even now......never grow tired of these guys 👌😍.....cant beat a dance round the kitchen to this 😂
Hahaha -- absolutely 🎯 comment, there -- totally agree with you👍!!!
England, THE very personification of ‘The Melting Pot’!🌹🏴❤️⚒
More the personification of a dumping ground! 😭
@@debra1232That’s your house minus all the deadbeat dads for your kids!😂
@@HarryFlowerrs Oh bless your naivety, Harry 🤣🤣🤣
Used to love this, but now, I stil love is just as much. It never will die this one
Returned to my dorm room once in college after a bad day (1988 or '89), blasted this song and scared the hell out of my roommate.
Still sounds great today.
It’s still getting harder!
my best 3 80's songs are this, heaven 17 temptation and Eurymics sweet dreams...BEST ERA EVER...personal opinion of course :)
Icehouse. Hey little girl!😊😊
This I have asked for often to be played on the radio it never does and gets overlooked
Reminds of my last year at school!❤🏴🌹👊🏽⚒
I wish all their songs were like this.
Hell yes!! On tour❤🎶🔥
My first Album bought Soundwarehouse Westheimer and Hilcroft Houston fall 1982. I WAS 14.
Love this, underrated song 💚💙💜❤
This is a very creepy song. Musically it's fabulous but for some reason it reminds me of my mental health problems. I think it's one of the best songs ever written - but every time I hear it I get a shiver down my spine. Too many bad memories!
The best! x
Not from this world, goose bumps, thx. ❤️
Best dang thing they ever did!
Still sounds great in 2045!
Blind Vision a sentence that can't get out of my head.
One I always stream - nice to know I can stream from the official channel now though - and you, like other artists are not blocking it for streaming from YT - I loved this as a kid playing in my local Youth Club - always been one of my all time faves - & so good live in Birmingham in 2021 !
We Gen X had the best of life ❤
Or boomers.... its close
You are not quite sure why this is so damn brilliant and catchy - it just is. A brilliant answer back to those who claim that Blancmange was just a one hit wonder with Living on the Ceiling.
"Blind vision" was a Top 10 hit (hard to believe but true)! Those proclaiming them "one hit wonders" are just ignorant snobs.
@@ВладимирКруглов-к9о It actually got to number 10 - the other song besides living on the ceiling to get to top ten status was don't tell me - which got to number eight and has a marvellous video based round a Spanish carnival. Also has this marvellous bit in the instrumental break where Neil says "No" and it starts slow and then gets sped up and he also goes "I can't get a grip on - no no can't get a grip on". That part of don't tell me reaches its full potential on the awesome 12 inch version. If you ask me Blind Vision should have penetrated much deeper into the top ten. The sense of phobia and torment in the song - along with its simple but deeply wonderful keyboard melody are deeply arresting. I start to really feel like someone who is getting emotionally locked in because their sight is failing. Although the blindness could easily be metaphorical too.
i think if you look deeper there many more catchy songs...
@@jefflugg7815 I think you are absolutely right. I think of especially catchy songs from the Blancmange Renaissance from 2010 like Western and Paddington. Also "Acid tongue" has a wonderful catchy dark vibe to it. And looking to more recent albums songs like What's the Time and Some Times these still show Neil Arthur at the top of his game. The Albums these came from - Blancburn, Semi Detached, Unfurnished Rooms and a Private View deserved much more attention than they have had. But what I very much enjoy about Blancmange as well as the wonderful strangeness of some of their lyrics is the often dead pan sense of humour which can show signs of really grim fun. I hope Neil Arthur and the musicians supporting him never retire.
Every single song is number one in my book I listen all day long
Blancmange music still totally works for me. So good!
Great song, they still sound great!!🔥🔥
Wow, another nice track ....I only knew Living in the Ceiling which I love and I almost forgot about it .....this band was not played around Philly! Wished it was ....thanks YT for having all of this music for me (fan of 80s alt music) 💖🎵👍🏻🎶
Absolute 80s,nostalgie new wave is radios
I need a DeLorean
Miss the 70s and 80s Great Music Pop and Rock Ruled the world🤘👍🙏🇬🇧🫵🫵🫵🫵🤘👍☝
Hello. Super ! This song is neat. Thank you !
This video reminds me very much of Yello's videos. What a fantastic track this is.
Interesting you say that because I am a big blancmange fan and also a big yello fan too. Both bands hit a really special spot and both bands have not performed in the UK charts as well as they ought to have done. The songs blancmange have released after around 2010 deserve a great deal more attention. They include a lot of really thoughtful synthpop music and also some true blancange stonkers like "Western" "Paddington" and "What's the time?"
It's August 17, 2024. I was in my late 20s and living in San Francisco when this song dropped. I'm 69 now, (no jokes), and this song still kicks ass! Blancmange Rules!!!
👍🎶🤗🥰
Blancmange didnt do well in the US. A real shame. I remember first hearing them on 120 minutes, not any radio station or pop video broadcast. Never even heard them in the clubs. They have a lot of solid tunes.
I lived in London when Blancmange was releasing most of their famous tracks, so I didn't know whether they were successful in New York City or anywhere in the US. BUT someone who was living in NYC & going to dance clubs just told me that this song and Living on the Ceiling were HUGE club hits in NYC in the early 80s. Which I was inordinately pleased to learn.
The alternative clubs in the SF Bay Area always used to play Living On The Ceiling 35 years ago.
I didnt make the clubs til the early nineties. Thats probably why I didnt here them in the clubs. In the city as well- The Troc, DNA lounge, Philips. Good times. @@megmcguigan3857
I bought this album and played it endlessly when it came out. I will often return to Blancmange in certain moments. For the first time just now it struck my how this track almost has a crossover feel to Talking Heads' Remain In Light.
I love this track and the album. Thanks Blancmange!
This is timeless music
Bless you, Neil.
OmG!!! Best it was, bestit is, beest ever!!!
Still have the 12" vinyl in the loft.
Love u guys. Great song
When i did seen the cover of the album for the first ti.e, it pulls me in. Like it wil say," come in and listen and than buy it"! And i absolutely did. A really masterpiece. Maybe the best album of the 80's
Love it.
how this didn't chart in australia is beyond me it is darn catchy
I was in high school when it came out, Loved them and all new wave at the time, but this country was all pub rock then, australia has NEVER embraced nor appreciated either eccentricity or art or synths really...
@@christ5826 damn right!
It did well in other countries. In the UK and an underground hit in North America.
@@christ5826 Just like US, they also had lame music. British were absolutely talented.

Going to see these guys tonight here in Glasgow.cant wait.
Wow taking me back to Atlanta circa 1992 @the Armory. 👍

This song gives me goosebumps.
Oh my god, this song is amazing.
My ALL TIME FAVORITE song to dance to in the 1980s, Sacramento, CA
Yeah , tell Blancmange and their Fans that “Multiculturalism has failed”........
‘The Melting Pot’ Of Culture just keeps giving; Class IS Permanent!🌹🏴👊🏽⚒❤️
Buena música 🙂🇵🇪👍🏼
Intense song. I'm feeling classic Talking Heads elements.
I hear a bit of Oingo Boingo as well.
There is still something like 70ies Disco in it merged with 80ies synthies❤😮
Love this song
There is a fantastic vaporwave remix of this called "Banned from Living" by Gloomcvlt. It brought me here, definitely give it a shot
A reet belter😊
Check the 12" version out - it's ace!
I came here after hearing Gloomcvlts version.. holy shit.. Gloomcvlts cover may be one of the sickest covers of all time.
How was this not a big hit? wow
It reached N0, 10 in the UK chart (the only chart which mattered in the marvellous '80s). To chart so high how can it not be considered a hit?
@@debra1232it was unknown in America even though it’s better than their songs that were. Even the retro stations don’t play this.
The best song. The yuo Peter Bauman !!!
Still a tune.
EXZELLENT 💖
There’s some David Lynch feel to this vid
Big ups to Gloomcvlt for sampling this song and introducing me to this fantastic song.
