...This comment is so out of touch with reality. MY god, Hello Games is absolute Respect? They lied and cheated, and once it backfired they've kept repairing the game and still not even got what was promised at launch. The only reason they've supported it so long is they want to have a future in this industry.

I'm surprised there are so few mentions in the comments about the late Rutger Hauer, who provided the narration used in this trailer before his untimely death in 2019. Blade Runner is still one of the best movies ever made, I love the reference to Roy Batty's monologue. Rest in peace!

As a nms vet... What sense is there if I have a ship that jumps 5ly without too much recharge and having done all the things? There is no pvp or other interesting things on which people could interact besides quicksilver missions, which are lame unfortunately

This looks amazing! Combat has always been pretty 1-note in NMS, so I'm really happy to see this overhaul. Next up, let's get ground combat with NPCs (like pirates)?
Pirates that attack your settlements. You'd defend against them like you already do with the sentinels.
Idk if killing actual humanoid opponents is in their interests for this game. I mean, it's okay to shoot spaceships because its kind of distant and faceless, but actually shooting Geks in the face is not something I expect them to do. Maybe this update changes their trajectory. The game has been kind of tranquil and all about exploration until now.

the game would have been around what we have now if it wasn't for the flood wiping everything out to where they had to start from scratch, they delayed the game and started receiving a bunch of death threats, and eventually Sony forced them to release what they had (which was nowhere near what they had, or what they said which is why people said they lied, and those people haven't a clue) due to said death threats. the game was "bad" all due to this unfolding, i was watching this unfold on HGs twitter. a lot of people don't realize these facts and just ride on the hate train for no good reason, and they don't realize that if what we got at launch was what HG thought was good enough we probably wouldn't have what we do today in NMS, it took them a while working behind the scenes to build back up to more than what was ever promised.
Y'all just keep giving me reason after reason to come back and play day after day. This looks amazing and beautiful and you guys have done something amazing yet again.
For me it's the opposite in a way, I'm always thinking that no man's sky will get an update soon so I'll just wait to play lmao.
This update looks like fun... Too bad I can't play it and just get to see everyone else running around with new equipment that's not even in my game.

YESSSS finally some more combat updates. Hello Games you guys are amazing! This game has become my top 3 favorite games of all time, how far this game has come is absolutely mind blowing!!! I feel this game deserves another release day! I'm so glad they will get another release day on switch!!! If your marketing team is listening, "listen guys and gals you need to market the ever living crap out of this game for switch, commercials, RUclips ads, spend money on marketing till release on switch!" I have played easily about 90% of all video games available on the mainstream market and what yall have done with No Man's Sky is hands down a MIRACLE this is literally tied for first the BEST game I have ever played in my life! And I've played alotta games 😅 im a computer programmer and I admire the hello games team, yall are superheroes for real and you have EASILY one of the greatest games the world has ever seen, the world needs to know how amazing this game is now that yall have poured even more of your hearts and souls into it, Game Of the Century! it's about 5 years (nearly 6) we can be see clearly how much the dev team love their game. I'm feel worth it that i was bought it in the full price.
I picked up the game very recently and I thought combat was one of the aspects that was a little lacking and I can't believe how quickly you guys delivered. This is really an example of dedication to improvement to follow.
Same so I quit (also because of poor fps on xbox S and my base just half being destroyed by a bug solved according to these patch notes). But reading the notes and watching this trailer... Reinstalling as we speak =D

It's absolutely mind blowing how some publishers like the ones behind Stellaris release hundreds of DLC packs and effectively paywall their players over the tiniest new features... while Hello Games keeps releasing updates that could be their own DLC, but for free. I freaking love this game.
Stellaris doesn't/didn't need to redeem themselves tho.

A more action oriented update, just what we needed, thanks!
I just logged in after some months not playing this and this new update is amazing. the combat is actually hard and scary now. For the first time since i started i nearly died against my first fight with the sentinel waves. No more 3 bots and 2 dogs and 1 sentinel, it's like 30-40 of them in total. so good. The drops are overhauled too. new items and upgrades.

I’m glad there’s a Switch version coming soon, just so I can actually pay for what I’ve enjoyed. Bought it on offer before Atlas Rises and it feels like I’m a leech.

Yeah, CD Project Red is working on it. The problem was trying to make it work on old consoles. Consoles, period.
Anyway. Hello Games has been correcting their mistakes for 6 long years and it STILL has fundamental issues. They are great at getting people on the hype train, but the party is boring.

I recently logged onto NMS for the first time in two years just last week and I was literally just thinking about how desperately this game needed to overhaul combat and improve/expand the Sentinels and encounters with them; little did I know HG was already so far along with those very same ideas, well done HG and thank you for making such an enjoyable experience!

An overhaul to the movement/ Battle mechanics was definetly something big missing for me. Happy to get these updates and see that they dont just add stuff on the base game, but try to overhaul and enhance whats weak

I love how hello games is truly pushing the precedent on enormous scale scifi concepts using procedural generation. I hope to see that they'll generate and/or let us build oneill cylinders, arcologies, dyson speres, and euconopolises one day should the technology allow it. Id pay again some more times for that

Two things I really miss here in this game, that would really make it for me.
1. New ship models. I think I have spend most of my time in the game, standing in a space station to watch ships fly in, in hopes to find the perfect ship for me. I would love some more models and visual variety for the ships 🙂
2. I’m missing dangerous alien enemies, that will creep out at night, and hunt you down. I’m missing that real alien thread from unknown planets. Sentinels and robots just don’t do it for me, it doesn’t feel like something you would run into on an alien planet.. I want starship trooper, and pitch black monsters, and then a more robust weapon system and not just the multi tool with different particle effects..
When that is said. This update looks like a huge step in the right direction.. Again, phenomenal job guys 👌
Finally a combat update!
But there is still a long way to go to make this game challenging. After 4 hours, you are so op that 99% of the enemies can't kill you anymore.
Now we need big space battles like always promised and then the game is truly a 10/10 for me.
Edit:
Tried the update now and attacked some sentinels. The combat is better by a 1.000x. The AI is good (it even takes cover not only behind the shields but also behind plants, hills etc.). There are a lot of enemies now at the same time and the different types make the combat way better now!
But pls nerf either the S tier upgrades for the exosuit shield or let the sentinels do more dmg. 10 of them shot at me and my shield bar was barely moving.
This is a very good update and finally tackles No Man's Sky's biggest weakness... combat and challenging gameplay.
If this game had shooting like say destiny or halo with more enemies it would literally be perfect
The shield doesn’t get damaged by getting hit it’s an invincible shield it’s the shield charge that’s depleting

Just got back into the game and my god I haven't spent so much time in a game as I have in this game. I can't recall the last time I sat down, ignored all my problems and played for 10 hours straight. And now an update is releasing the moment I get back into it. Couldn't be happier with the timing
