Phase flip idea was very interesting and unique! I used Nolly's solution until he changed it to the FabFilter Saturn, now I follow that. I loved the idea of this video, having the comparison and gives a fresh perspective. Would like to see more of this!
Nolly would drink water from that bottle. It looks like his last shampoo bottle he reused as a water container to cut down on his plastic use. Super thoughtful guy.
I hate what regular noise gates do to drums. Black Salt Audio Silencer, kills the cymbals and barely touches the drums. It is super easy to adjust and it is inexpensive.
Some of these are achieving the gating effect but it's more malleable and you can control what you're gating opposed to risking neutering your snare dynamics or making it sound super choppy
@@JucaNeryGuitar that's mixing these days. Over processed with "pro techniques" and plugins on plugins. The true performance and live energy is not existent.
nowadays Nolly used the Dynamics knob on the FabFilter Saturn, just for the heads up.
Yeap true seen that myself
Buster Odeholm: "If life gives you lemons put a million EQs on it"
Watching Buster mix is like watching Buster play the guitar.

And now we have The Silencer by BSA which is AWESOME and simple to use
Buster made a baskeball at the end lol
Nolly's is definitely the most intuitive here... However Beau's is super clever
Nolly uses the multiband on Saturn now and drops the dynamics to nothing. It's super effective.
@@BrofUJu Interesting, so just turning the dynamics all the way to the left will do the same?
@@mitchdeathblossom yup! Do it in multiband on the high end on snare, toms, even kick. It's incredible.
@@BrofUJu Crazy!! Gonna try this for sure 😄
@@mitchdeathblossom let me know how it goes, lol. I stole it from Nolly I think he does it in one of his most recent full mix series
The gate function on Slate Trigger is very underrated. It sounds super natural and does a great job. Especially when cutting out tom hits!
Awesome video thanks

Buster didn't kill the cymbal bleed, he destroyed it! Damn it was nice, even though it looks like a bit of overprocess :) Have to try

De-Bleeder or Saturn 2 or doing a great job!
Nolly actually does the Saturn trick now, who I learned it from!
There's that magic AI gate plugin nowadays I can't remember the name of it. Sorry to say these techniques are a bit outdated
Unrelated but... Nolly reminded me how I liked the older Logic GUI much better, the new one is so flat and boring
diabolical take. old logic was uglyy
@@joederbyshire_ Naah, some of the things now look like they were made using MS paint, just flat colored shapes hehe
Just use a gate? So much processing imo.
bc they're tryna get rid of the cymbal bleed, specifically the "hissy" white noise area, without compensating the snare tone
@@nathanrelph3523 Yes I understand that, but no need for so much processing like the last one.

Or just leave the bleed in, if your thinking with that attitude 🤷
