    My personal taste is to rock with Dave! Killer work though to all 3 and great information to know from all 3.

    Just so I'm not confused, Dan is replacing the transient of the sample with the original bass drum, and keeping the decay of the sample?

    Uhh, doesn't Cubase allow you to create midi files from hitpoints? Studio One will as well (though the Groove clipboard has a note limit). You could also just use Melodyne. I guess Dave just finds Trigger to be faster.

      @1oVVa 3 месяца назад +2

      Groove clipboard in S1 is much less accurate and easy to use than Trigger

      @@1oVVa It's been awhile since I've used it, so you're probably right. Always used Melodyne in S1 because of Groove Clipboards note limit.
      Thankfully S1s browser makes importing Melodynes MIDI files easy.

      Absolutely! Some of these methods just seem unnecessarily complicated. 😂

      @@deliriumsdawn So, I tried Trigger to generate MIDI notes last night. Other than having to do real time printing, it's really accurate. It's been awhile since I used Melodyne to do it and I forgot how many extra hits it will detect. I've been using SD3s audio to MIDI and Cubase hit point to MIDI for so long I've never wanted to use anything else.

    This shows why so many people use Protools for editing and drum replacement… wish I could do that in Reaper or Logic!

      Logic actually has a way to do this (called 'replace or double drum track' in logic) that I feel is super accurate. Set the threshold and it picks everything up. You can even go a step further and remove silence to get rid of any extra hits/bleed, THEN use the 'replace or double drum' feature. I've gotten great results doing this.

      @@curtiselliott1478yep, this function in Logic is super good and quick! Goes above and beyond basic audio to midi conversion like you get in ProTools, which is even shown in this video to be unreliable

      You can do this in Reaper?

      Logic has its own option “replace or double drum track” it’s literally this, just instant.

    I must be missing something because I just load the audio into Superior 3, it creates midi, and I move on with my day.

    When he previewed the original kick on the BMTH track, it sounded great as is!? What’s the point of replacing them!? I can understand consistent hits on a snare and all that, but not the kick!

    • @federicogarufi479
      @federicogarufi479 3 месяца назад +4

      It’s actually the opposite… in genres like these you want a very consistent low end and leave some humanisation for stuff like snare and toms. It’s also gonna hit harder when it’s a sample. Not saying you need to always replace the kick, but that’s probably why he did it as well as not having that much time to mix the song.

    • @satanistruth666

      did he replace them? He wouldn't care about phase then, he just layered a sample for a cooler sound
