Well, again everyone collects differently. I feel like the ones that I buy overseas are releases that won't have an US release (ie Pearl, Phantasm 4k's). Personally, buying a local (US) 4k release at a high price is only going to strengthen the strategy that Disney is trying to set to the consumer.

I think Disney lost a lot of money they were expecting to make over the past few years on their “woke Marvel experiment.” This was during a time when Best Buy was still handling the exclusive steelbook releases for Marvel, and their partnership in the matter stung them financially as well. It is my opinion that the low performing woke Disney steelbook factor may have contributed to Best Buy quitting the physical movie market entirely. Now we have Deadpool & Wolverine, the only MCU title this year, and it was a hit with audiences. Disney’s gonna jack those prices up to make back some of that lost revenue on the likes of The Eternals. It’s a predatory practice, it sucks, and I truly hope all the other studios and boutique labels don’t become unaffordable to collect in the fallout of this decision.
Hello from Oregon, I have took a step back on my purchases. Now I basically just add to my 4K sets. For example Terrifier 3. I'll pick that up to add/complete the set in the same format. First, hell yeah fellow Oregon physical media collector! Second, thanks for subscribing! I appreciate it. Third, I'll definitely check The Rental out. So far, every movie I've seen with Dan has been good, and he's been fantastic in each role.
Spare no expense, Frank! (Kidding) It is getting really crazy. I ordered Deadpool but though it was way too high. I have to reason that as the price of a video game since I’m a gamer. I might only do it for the movies I love but I think this is the world we are going to live in now.
That’s not that high? The limited steelbook is 55. $30 for a new release 4k is standard. That’s also just how Disney has been I got Maxxxine 4k for $23 on release. @@Franksmediaandreviews they have for me. I use you all on RUclips to find out new labels and even to compare different versions of the same movie. I've found a lot of new labels like second sight. And if major studios keep up $50+ movies, people will put that $50+ in a better product elsewhere, even if they have to wait for a later release date. A lot of times the boutique labels are putting in way more to their releases and make it worth the $50-100 price tag.
Gruv is good with their prices, but damn they tend to sell on their pre orders. They had the Godzilla Minus One 4k steelbook for $35 and it went like hotcakes. I wasn't able to get it. They had the A Nightmare on Elm Street 4k steelbook for $29 and it sold fast too. I was able to get the Nightmare steelbook for $35 on Amazon. It should be here in a week or so. I wonder if they will redo older releases?
If you have to have all the newest pre-orders and the ultimate packaging like steelbooks and Limited editions, then you WILL pay a lot more. I will usually wait until cheaper, or if its something like one of my favorite movies, then I WILL buy them at the pre-order price and premium editions but mostly wait and pick them up at the 50% off sales. The 4K movie itself, " the disk," is the most important thing to me..... To each their own, but if we are going to complain about the prices. @@Franksmediaandreviews makes it worse that they release 2 versions hoping people will overpay and buy both
@@davek3373 💯!
I preordered the Deadpool and Wolverine steelbook thinking it would come down to a reasonable price upon release. (It did not). Fool me once Disney. Not doing that again. $40 is pushing it, but anything over $50 (for a single movie) we need to collectively boycott.
💯
That's why I got the standard. I didn't want to, but I'm not spending $55. Maybe someday I'll get the Wolverine steelbook, because I do want it.
I wanted the steelbook but I'm not paying $50+. Screw that. I'll wait for them to drop the price on the standard I guess. They cancelled a ton of Amazon pre-orders that were locked in at $44.99.
Wait till Black Friday or buy on the second hand market!!!
Here in Portland, ever since the pandemic we don't have any or very few second hand stores. Most of the places closed. 😭
I'm done. I'm either sailing the high seas now or using FAST services.
Legit nightmares on elm street dvd box set. I got mine at circuit city back in the day. Great display piece.
Circuit City! Now that's going WAY back! 🤣
It's getting ridiculous. I know there's inflation and everything is increasing in cost, but the price jump in new 4ks is much higher than that. I'm glad I bought as many as I did when they were reasonably priced, cause now I'm going mostly for regular blurays.
Agree! Thanks for watching the video!
Already cut way back…gouging like the rest of the companies in the world…
Vote with your wallet. I’m not paying full price for a movie like I would for a video game or a double feature set. I’ll wait until it goes on sale regarding the Alien: Romulus 4K Steelbook. Might just go with the standard 4K slipcover if anything
Yup, I'm thinking the same as well.
I want kickboxer 4K December 3 that one is expensive too like $34.99 needs a price drop but it comes with blue rays also
@@RobertQuant that 4k steelbook looks nice too!
Yeah, prices are rising. Normally around here 🇫🇮 prices have been for new dvds about 15€ and blurays 15-20€, Checkedcout prices today, Deadpool and Wolverine, basic dvd is 20€ and bluray almost 25€ ...plus shipping 4,50€ 😐👎👎 they realy want to kill physical media markets....
Yup! Also, love your profile pic. It's from A Trip to the Moon. I remember seeing it in Smashing Pumpkins video, Tonight, Tonight.
Idk what your talking about, I always have to go to eBay and pay the high price cuz these RUclipsrs were the ones that waited at Best Buy so I could never get my hands on one lol
Keep in mind in the early 1990s a VHS copy of the crappy "Syngenor" was $90-- not adjusted for inflation.
$90! Damn!
Yea , it’s a crazy time , I can’t spend the money but hopefully in couple months they go down or on sale so I can buy it . 😅🎥👍
Chi! What's up buddy! I do wonder how long it'll stay at this high price point. Could go down by Tues or stay at it's current t price a few weeks after release date. It'll be interesting to watch. Something for the Alien Romulus physical release too.
Steelbooks should only be 10 to 15 bucks higher than standard you really aren’t getting much extra.
👆🏽This right here
Any particular reason you didn't add "Prices" in the description of the video?
You mean the Title? I mentioned pricing in the Description Section, but I just changed it on the Title as well.
This is why switched to an Apple library
Still cheaper than Laserdiscs back in the 80s and 90s.
I remember The Fall Guy Steelbook was at $35.
Just wait, eventually every movie will end up in a sale.
I’m waiting on Walmart Black Friday $8 a new 4k
Hopefully they'll have great sales like BB did.
Alien Romulus will be the last 4k physical copy that I get for awhile. I love the universe too much not to get it lol. Was thinking about getting the ring in 4k for 22 dollars, but i settled for the 10 dollar blu ray instead. But I did get nightmare on Elm Street and Deadpool and wolverine in 4k. There are some movies you just can't turn down you know. I also want to watch things at its best quantity so that doesn't help lol. But I totally agree with you. Physical media is definitely getting really expensive.
Thanks for watching! Yeah, I really want the Deadpool and Wolverine 4k steelbook, but I decided to get the standard 4k for $25 instead. I may get the Wolverine steelbook at later on. I'm definitely going to get Romulus as it's cheaper at places like DiabolikDVD, OrbitDVD, and Atomic Movie Store.
Anytime. The standard 4k ones were the only ones available at my walmart. So thank God lol
Aren’t those just placeholder prices? I’ve preordered steelbooks months in advance for around $50 or higher and on release I get charged the usual prices for steelbooks ($34.99)
I normally would say yes, but from what I've been hearing these won't go down in price at least initially. Hopefully I'm wrong though. We'll find out soon.
Hey Frank, I'm confused because you buy grade z trash movies🗑️ oversea boutique label for $60 each with one 4k disc only 🤕
Well, again everyone collects differently. I feel like the ones that I buy overseas are releases that won't have an US release (ie Pearl, Phantasm 4k's). Personally, buying a local (US) 4k release at a high price is only going to strengthen the strategy that Disney is trying to set to the consumer.
Also, love your questions. Always feel free to ask away.
I agree with this, I also lowkey believe you have it preordered but made the video to relate , which is fine ❤
@@jjthekollector Well JT, I can guarantee you I have not preordered either 4k steelbooks, or the standard release. That doesn't mean I don't plan on getting the movie, because I will, but as I stated in the video, I'm not paying $55 for the steelbook release. I'll most likely get the standard at $30.
Its a damn shame
Hell yeah it is
First time watching your channel love it but I want to know how much would a standard blu ray of deadpool and wolverine will cost??? With special features
Thanks! Looks like the bluray standard is $25 and the 4k standard is $30
I had the Deadpool Steelbook preorder for $60 but it got canceled I didn’t try to reorder screw it
Was it via Amazon? I heard they oversold and canceled orders.
I hope you're right too. Thanks for watching the video!
It's only when they drop , wait a little.
.....HOLD! 🤣
I gotta work on being patient.
Hello from Oregon, I have took a step back on my purchases. Now I basically just add to my 4K sets. For example Terrifier 3. I'll pick that up to add/complete the set in the same format. Side note, have you seen The Rental? 2020 Netflix, Shout Factory. Suspense/horror, really good. Dan Stevens stars in it from The Guest. Thank you for the video, NEW SUB!!
First, hell yeah fellow Oregon physical media collector!
Second, thanks for subscribing! I appreciate it.
Third, I'll definitely check The Rental out. So far, every movie I've seen with Dan has been good, and he's been fantastic in each role.
@@Franksmediaandreviews Awesome, The Rental was also filmed at the Oregon coast! 🙌
@@73ocampo Ah, hell yeah! Now I'm definitely watching it.
You can't really complain about prices if your one of the people buying the crap tbh.
😂
Spare no expense, Frank! (Kidding) It is getting really crazy. I ordered Deadpool but though it was way too high. I have to reason that as the price of a video game since I’m a gamer. I might only do it for the movies I love but I think this is the world we are going to live in now.
Did you get Silent Hill 2? I'm playing it now and it's so damn good!
@@Franksmediaandreviews I didn’t but I heard it’s really good! 👍🏻
@@bigdadewarbucks9497 if you like those type of games, it's a must buy! Seriously.
Prices are way too high. I believe it's because all those companies are sending every steelbook to all the youtubers for free.
I wish I received steelbooks for free.
That’s not that high? The limited steelbook is 55. $30 for a new release 4k is standard. That’s also just how Disney has been
I got Maxxxine 4k for $23 on release. That isn’t Disney and is very fairly priced like most all releases have been this year
This should be titled “Disney Physical Media Prices”
No, I don't think it's worth the money the steel books are nice, but I won't pay that price so you're not alone
Thanks for watching!
Quick question, what's the limit you would spend on a 4k steelbook?
I got my Deadpool 3 steelbook from the UK amazon site. Was $15 lower (even with taxes and shipping) than with prime on the US site.
What was your total price? When I looked, including shipping it was $50. Also, which version did you get? I want the Wolverine one.
@@Franksmediaandreviews $55 total and I got the Wolverine version. Last time I checked, the US version was $65. Did it go down in price? And yes.... These movies are way too damn high. It almost feels like they are trying to price people out of physical media.... The speciality boutiques will be our saving grace if these major studios keep this mess up
@@Insomniackuzco Yup, just recently the price dropped to $55.
@@Insomniackuzco and you're not lyin about the Boutique Labels saving us. In some ways they already have by rejuvenating the collectors with these badass physical releases and the special features.
@@Franksmediaandreviews they have for me. I use you all on RUclips to find out new labels and even to compare different versions of the same movie. I've found a lot of new labels like second sight. And it may not seem smart, wallet wise, but a lot of times I will even pay a little more on a boutique site because they need the business more than Amazon. And if major studios keep up $50+ movies, people will put that $50+ in a better product elsewhere, even if they have to wait for a later release date. A lot of times the boutique labels are putting in way more to their releases and make it worth the $50-100 price tag.
Trick or Treat 80s classic 4k with Ozzy Osborne.....Pre orders already sold out!!!! thats BS
$300 for a plastic Chainsaw 😂
I was able to preorder Trick or Treat from DiabolikDVD.
I preorder 2 copies of glow in dark beetlejuice
Nice!
If people pay it they’ll charge it.
Facts
I bought the well 4k for fifty
I want the Wolverine version as well!
Which one are you getting?
Gruv is good with their prices, but damn they tend to sell on their pre orders. They had the Godzilla Minus One 4k steelbook for $35 and it went like hotcakes. I wasn't able to get it. They had the A Nightmare on Elm Street 4k steelbook for $29 and it sold fast too. I was able to get the Nightmare steelbook for $35 on Amazon. It should be here in a week or so. But yeah it is getting out of hand with the prices. Since Sony is doing Disney's physical media now it is going to be better than it ever has. Sony is the best in physical media. I wonder if they will redo older releases?
Hopefully you get that Godzilla Minus One 4k, Percy. It's definitely one of the best releases this year.
Hopefully Sony does start making some back catalog titles. 🤞🏽
@@Franksmediaandreviews yes I'll get it along with the Glory 4k steelbook.
@@Franksmediaandreviews I can see them re releasing the Marvel movies.
@@percybedford6266 Me too. If they do, it probably would be with Dolby Vision and with the IMAX scenes. Just like they have on Disney+
Consider your monthly tier membership as your free Deadpool & Wolverine 4k steelbook 🥳 Your Blessed Buddy 💰 lol 🍻
I'm using that towards Streamyard as their prices have increased as well.
Double dip for nightmare? Buddy you quadruple dipped with Late Night 🤣🤣
You ain't lyin... Please send help 🤣
Remember these companies have to make lots of money so they can keep making these great editions and movies but I still do not miss many of my "target" movies. I have slept on a few that I DID really want and didn't get it before it went out of print😢. But for the most part, I have bought exactly what I wanted for half, if not more than half off . So hopefully you do too, but let's not complain about the prices. 😊
100% agree, especially about the disc being the most important.
Two movies Amazon. My bloody Valentine's scream factory blueray 1981 and the good the bad and ugly 4k blueray 44 dollars.
I haven't seen Uncommon Valor, but I just saw the cast and it's stacked!
Inflation.
Word I agree with you Frank. Disney can kiss my ass with their woke ass and insane prices. I love signs but I will not be picking up the 4K at their prices. Same goes for the Deadpool steelbooks. Kick Rocks Disney. You ruined my Indiana Jones franchise with the shit dial of destiny. They took the movies off of their streaming site. Screw em.
Wait? They removed one of their most successful franchises from their streaming services? What a bunch of idiots.
Also, thanks for watching!
No Doubt kid. John from Let's Talk Entertainment & Media put me onto your channel. Good stuff you guys. Always great content.
Thumbnail needs more tears and you crying. 😂
All joking aside, the prices have just made it so I have to be more selective about the stuff I pre-order.
I got an image to maintain, Hunter 🤣😭😭
Thanks Kamala
