  • An autism diagnosis was once deemed to be a lifelong neurodevelopmental condition, however a groundbreaking scientific case report has proven otherwise.
Autism is increasing at an alarming rate, even accounting for changes in diagnostic criteria, autism has increased by over 300% since 2000. This increase is also far too high to be related to genetics too.
This case report with autistic twins requiring very substantial support (level 3) initially scored 76 and 43 on the Autism Treatment Evaluation Checklist. After 1.5 years their scores dropped to 32 and 4 respectively. The twin with a score of 4 is no longer considered autistic. During this time a range of dietary, lifestyle and environmental changes were implemented in accordance to a range of functional test results.
The diet was low-sugar; dairy and gluten free, had no artificial colours or dyes; zero ultra-processed foods; primarily organic; and locally sourced. The girls were also given daily supplements for omega-3 fatty acids, multivitamins, vitamin D, carnitine, methylated folate, microbiome supporting supplements and others. They were also tested for environmental toxins and were found to be high in aluminum and glyphosate aka the weed killer round up. The twins also went to speech and occupational therapy.
Although this is not the gold standard randomised controlled trial, it does show promise and hope for those who want to alleviate the debilitating symptoms of autism. The reference for the study is below:

I would love to believe this, but until the results are replicated by others without the quackery associated with them like Dr Chris D’Adamo, I'll reserve judgement.

I understand where you are coming from, I hope there’s a randomized controlled trial soon. But please have hope, if you research the connection between the gut microbiome and autism you will find a lot of research showing a strong connection
