If you select "all" autofocus, you can switch the modes by pressing in the joystick and turning the back command dial, freeing up the button for another function.
Just keep your tips coming Chris, always watching out for them. Yep i'm completely new to these advanced Fuji Cameras. Did start off in digital way back with fuji 7000. more of a point and shoot which did me ok in that the kids were growing up and took some great shots with it. At that time it was a very colourful image producer so went via canon D20 gave that to my Brother and from then on the canon road for more natural colours. Later bought 7D then 7D mk2. now ready to build up my fuji lenses.
Looks like your on your way John. Back to the Fuji New video up to night about using the touchscreen. And keep an eye out for some news about Flickr. Cheers Chris.
Very nice and useful video! Thanks!! (Just miss my favorite shortcut. Hold the garbage button + rear dial button for 3 seconds to format. BTW miss on this video i don’t know if you already showed it in any past video) cheers!!
Fnal but one lens just came through the door all at your recommended advises.. So now have 18-55 10-24, 50-140, 100-400. waiting now for 1.4 converter which should be with me tomorrow. Later I hope I'll be purchasing a 80mm macro. Will perhaps be thinking of a flash gun but also not sure if my Canon 430 gun will fit and connect and talk to the fuji system. Been told that the pin out is as Canon . Do you perhaps know this to be true Don't want to fry my XT3. Just looked back and found you also advised the 18-135 so birthday soon and perhaps!!!
@@cppuk Well Chris this change over from Canon has really taken me up with Fuji system. what a delightful surprise. After many years with Canon and very slowly realising that Canon where holding us all to some kind of ransom in that they were stretching out their system advances like on the 7D mk 2 by not putting Wifi in it then saying owing to he camera body not allowing it, but putting GPS in was the last straw for me and then started looking for other systems. following your vids my approach followed the fuji road in seeing their outlook towards their followers and customers was so refreshing I just had to have some of it and look forward to being looked after as a customer should. this morning I got round to updating my firmware on all my lenses that I recently bought.. So easy and now everything is up to date. So now will be going out to shoot as you know I want too lol. The 80mm macro is definitely going to be my next purchase if I can find a used one. Trying hard to find one. Can't walk to far now a days so it will keep me going in my hobby and most favourite lifelong interest Coming from a engineering background the quality of Fuji cameras and lenses is outstanding and unknown to me as I thought incorrectly from having a Fuji camera some years ago as my first entry into digital, that their systems where to colourful and could be more natural which was what I was looking for at that time. Sorry for such a long reply Chris but I just had to let you know how and why I've changed.
HI John well done I get it . after years of Canon mind games I thought I would never leave But over the last few years I've been looking at many other things not just cameras for all sorts of things we use in our everyday lives I have Found many companies are holding back just so we keep buying the next best thing but I feel Fuji they are customer based and are there for the customer as you know I have used their return policy first hand and their cashback policy on new items works perfectly just make sure you have all the information you need and your good to go great comment enjoyed reading Thank chris
A better choice to improve the grip if you don’t need the extra batteries is the Fujifilm MHG-XT3 metal hand grip. It is $129 USD from Amazon. You can set boost mode in camera now and the body has the earphone jack, unlike what is the case with the X-T2.
I should be receiving my XT3 at the end of this week. I am mainly buying it for its video capabilities. Any ideas on how to increase or get around the short battery life. My understanding is it they don't last long.
you can buy a battery grip and put 3 batteries in it that will do the trick . I have found that only the original Fujifilm batteries give a true reading of power so be very careful if you so for 3nd party ones I went with the original ones Or just get more batteries they pop in and out very easily. Hope this helps Chris
chris paul thank you Chris. Not that it matters at this point but I bet when the XH2 comes out it is probably going to have everything we all wanted in a camera. To be honest it is quite disappointing for me that Canon didn’t release the EOS R with specs such as in the XT3. I would not have hesitated in buying it.
Chris..... I've finally got my money together .... I'm close to getting the xt3.... I'm excited..but nervous. I so don't want to be disappointed with its low light performance.... which is why sony a73 keeps ringing in my ears. What can you tell me about it's low light capabilities.... Also if I go for it ..what long lens ?? I'm like you...love shooting wildlife, nature and events where you need the reach...... all the best buddy. Regards... Steve
Steve D hey up Steve. Good lad your about there I know how you feel it’s never easy making these big decisions so I can only suggest you go with your heart. I’ve never shot Sony in fact I’ve never picked one up So I feel I can’t give you the answers you need it would be wrong of me as I would be biased towards the Fuji. Steve you have waited this long hold off until you 100%. For me the FUJIFILM system is so different to any other camera you would’ve picked up and used with its analog styling it can look complicated but remember it has all the features and more of any D SLR. And because of this it can make it strange and difficult to comprehend at first until you find your way around the short-cuts menu buttons and analog controls it’s never easy Steve I just don’t know what to say to you other than go with your heart take care my friend Chris.
@@cppuk I was looking at 55-200 in hoping that would cover my canon 70-200 Ialso bought the grip as I just cannot keep changing battery's. Can't stand the fiddle.cost perhaps could have gone into another lens, Ah well. Keeps those selling in job.
@@cppuk the prime lenses are amazing too (25mm f2.0). Thanks for this very thorough instructive video Chris! And yes, the X-T3 is AMAZING. It does everything brilliantly.
Mourah Hugo yes you are so right I’m still loving my XT3 and can not find anything that could replace it for my photography needs. Thanks for the comment and your tome to view the video Chris.
RawGreySun I use the lee filter system I have the big & little stoppers and 3 to 9 graduated filters great system I have a few videos of me using them. Cheers Chris
Problems Chris. Wi-fi not working for me as it's telling me it's full and to delete the registered item which will not delete. Tried getting hold of Fuji for help but not had as yet a reply from them so don't even know if they got my inquiry so for now stuck.
@@cppuk Just to keep you informed, re Wifi,BLUetooth. Well surprise is that it all works by doing opposite to what the camera tells you..What I found by instead of trying to delete previous registers press cancel instead of delete.. So making opposite to what you would assume. Also I had bluetooth switched off as I assumed that if on the camera would try to connect overriding me from deleting previous registers. so all went well but wha a huge confusion over two words I thought detlete was the way to go not cancel, so had to all wrong. then again I'm not able to speak or read Japanese lol.
Bin and gone and done it. sat here with xT3. finding problems hitting back with me. followed your shortcut tips but find I cannot go past two settings, Camera jumps to bottom of list touch screen mode, Left wondering what needs to be unset so as to fill other shortcut settings.
@@cppuk eventually I manage to get registered and then download firmware. My problems re always hitting me in the face for some reason or other. Fuji site for some reason would not allow me in to download so tried a couple of days later and I got in, all now sorted I hope as I've yet to claim cashback.

Hangover Chilly thanks.
XT3 has built in boost mode, battery grip on the XT3 is just for extra battery life.
Nice video, some great set up tips. Cheers
Cheers Stuart yes your right be good for weddings having the grip . thanks Chris .
Just got my X-t3 from Panasonic. I thought the Panny system was flexible. This is incredible....
You don’t need the grip to get boost mode just go into power management settings and switch on boost.
David Hoult thanks for that David cheers Chris.
Nice shortcuts and good advice. Finally someone who picked up on pinch to zoom on pictures. Also a plus is full weather sealing. A7iii doesn't
Erik Leypoldt cheers Erik so much in this Camera I’ll do another one after a few months of use thanks again Chris.
