    Great presentation Joe, sure helped me make my decision , one thing I have not heard anyone mention is regarding the Holley Terminator X MAX Stealth 4150 EFI, the choice between 4 injectors and 8 injector system , Im looking at putting it on an old 427 big block , Max horse power Im chasing is 500 so I assume the 4 injector will be fine?

    Only probably I had was that the wire harness fried the o2 sensor. They sent me a new harness and o2 and it worked fine. Sent harness back to them and there was a wire in the harness that was shorting out and firing the o2.

    thanks for the video! Just picked up the xmax! i think the video got long because a section got spliced twice? 16:20 is when it first starts and repeats @ 21:35.

    The statement about forums is SO true! lol. I’ve been looking for a Standalone for over a month! We are hopefully swapping a 06 5.3 L33 w/ a truck cam, TBSS & DBW TB manifold & shorties (395 HP if lucky) w/ a Tremec TKO 5 spd. into a little 07 base 5 lug Tacoma. The harness, X-link (for the TB) & removed Vats is about $900. What would you do? Please! Awesome video too! Thanks

    Diagnostic lights are a good idea IMO, it gives the ability to see where your issue is at a glance.

      Do you keep your eyes on the ECU while driving?...Lights can change in an instant.....By then its too late...A check engine light would of been a dandy of an idea but Holleys LOCIC BASED systems arent smart enough to tell you when youre in trouble anyways!

    After I finish adding the turbo to my car I will have you do the tuning to it remotely I can get it up and running but would rather have you do the stuff where I would be safe doing some WOT pulls.

    Can you use the factory gas pedal? My factory ecu just can’t handle what I’m doing and switching from HP tuners to the terminator x. (Gen 3 hemi pre-vvt)

      im not familiar with the hemi part numbers and compatibility. the GM stuff breaks it down by part number so its pretty easy to figure out what works and what doesnt

      @@JoeSimpsonAtTempest yeah I got it figured out they accidentally sent me the x and not the x max. I was lost on how to hook my pedal up but they made it right and sent the right ecu

    For a basic boosted junkyard LS is the dominator worth the extra cost over the terminator? Im not trying to set records, just a fun little turbo ls 1st gen s10.

      Really depends on what your trying to do. You will never outgrow a dominator. I’d do an HP over a terminator x but the reality is a terminator is is plenty for 95% of non drag car guys

    I switched from MS3x to Holley x max I got in a trade and lost a ton of inputs and outputs, flex fuel input, boost control option's built in,traction control built in, could switch to a 58 crank, but Holley has really dumb down the setup for the "not so smart, increased resolution on fuel n spark has a good idle and a 3" screen..O-yea I didnt half to buy a $50 wire to connect to a laptop and another $50 splitter...just my thoughts a

    thank you for the great info. i built a gen1 small block chevy 400. AFR210 eliminator heads, 50mm individual throttlebodies, msd 601513 coil near plug direct ignition system and the terminator x 550-936 universal ecu package. i can not find any info on integration of the ignition system into the terminator x, despite the info of the terminator x 8 coil driver firing capabilities. could you put me on the correct track? ---pipe dream or foolish thinking--

    What do you mean when you say the wiring harness is junk?

      It’s pretty ugly. Lengths are goofy, relays and fuses are positioned in a way that makes it hard to mount cleanly, and most importantly I’ve seen numerous bad connections, wires crimped improperly, and wires pinned wrong. To the point that the car wouldn’t even work

    I have a 70 chevelle LS1 Swap engine equipped with the terminator X max . The car is equipped with a cut off switch use for storage, will the system lose tuning programming since all battery power is shut down ????

    You just earned a subscriber. I'm thinking of using the terminator X for an engine swap using the factory fuel injection set up on a gen 6 big block chevy. I've worked on cars for a living, although I am a newbie when it comes down to tunning an ECU. I enjoy learning especially from mistakes, I do my best not to make expensive ones. Respect your work look forward watching more vids.

      Terminator x is hard to beat for the money. Best of luck with it if you go that way! Read the manual a few times. I see a lot of cars come through with issues that are almost always installation related so take your time and do what the manual tells you to do!

      Did you ever use the terminator x on the 454? Was looking into using one for my gen 6 454 since my harness needs replaced anyway.

    I just switched from hptuners to holley. Agree it's superior. But I find the hptuners UI layout to be a little nicer for things like ve table. (ie 3d ve tables, view 3d and 2d at same time, buttons versus right click, zoom, move around etc)

    Great videos, it’s nice to see someone with a non fanboy perspective. I see a lot of people buying aftermarket ECU’s and they can’t even set base timing.

    Hey man. Been loving the videos!
    One note....pretty sure you can automatically begin a data log from the LCD by basing it off an input. That’s how mine is setup. I never have to push a button or think about it. Once the trans brake button is pushed, my Holley begins a log. You need to set this up on the LCD on the logging page. Perhaps this is a newer update that wasn’t out when the video was made though 🤷‍♂️. Either way....keep up the great content! Been working my way back through some of your stuff.

    I have a question as one of the few road racers out there that’s wanting to use it. Does it have an output that I can plug my AIM MXL digital dash/ data acquisition system into where it will pull the motor data (water temp, throttle position, etc) ? It will be running a SBF 331 stroker setup.

      No. Can data can only be displayed through a Holley dash. I’m sure there are ways around that but as far as plugging it and going Holley dash is your only option through the can bus

    Yeah I will probably go with this on my 93 foxbody, but I went with psi wiring harness an computer on my LS swap,in my 86 square body, plug an play no tuning required,

      @@JoeSimpsonAtTempest ok..other thing im not shure about .. i have to go to inspection and smog test .. with catalic converters .. with the MS its easy to adjust the AFR or lambda to 15/1 or lambda 1... can I adjust the AFR with the hand controller to 14.7 at idle and 2500 rpm??.

    If your build is going to put down 1500-2000hp will the terminator handle that? What would you suggest for that much horsepower?

      alex martinez it is not horsepower limited per say but that for that power i would strongly advise going to a dominator. You will need the i/o to set the car up properly in my opinion.

    I know it’s a long shot but do you know how to make the terminator x max work with the 4l60e with 4wd? I want to get the terminator but it’s not for 4wd applications. I guess it’s something to do with the VSS

    I consider you king god runner!!! Please help me. I’m building a ground up 92 Camaro. I have a 2007 LQ4 drive by wire I’m running it with a Aisin AR 5 standard transmission with the Fabbot conversion kit. I’m going NA right now This is a dream car build for me. I’m doing everything myself. What ECU do I buy!!!!

      I don’t think anybody uses fitech. I’ve had countless cars come in with sniper systems that switched from fitech to Holley. I’ve never used fitech so i can’t comment much further than that

      Well, with the ecu stuff the best can easily get to be 10-15k dollars which most people can’t swing. This is a great cost effective option. A majority of people don’t use even a fraction of what their ecu can do, so this sort of eliminates that stuff and just gives you what you need. It’s a little too basic for anything i would personally do, but works great for a lot of people. An option worth considering for a lot of people!

    Beautiful video. Still, liked and subscribed. Might be a good idea to work very hard at that word UM, its toxic in your video. It is very difficult to concentrate on what your trying to say when every single pause has an UM there. Its okay to pause and breath, but to fill the audio with useless noise is more annoying than that diesel truck running constantly in the background.

      I just bought my terminator x max last week for 1300 out the door with extra alternator wire and extension for laptop

      What did it come with, in July (almost august) 2020, I see them from 1300-2000, the more expensive ones come with the dash kit and a few other extras. After a quick google showing Summit Racing and Jegs stores.
