What Kyle said. Or you can cut the ends off and put new plugs on the harness to match your new injectors but that kinda defeats the purpose of plug and play.
Good info,I'm no good with computers, so hp tuners is not happening for me which means I have to pay someone to flash my pcm then I have to pay for a dyno tune,am I wrong in thinking this terminater x will be good for me to tune my motor all my self,or is there more to it,this is my first LS and to figure what direction to go.
They have a wizard setting that will get you up and running. After that you can download a tune from the tune cabinet on the sloppy mechanics Wikipedia page and use it as a refine for your timing table if need be. At this point it m sure you can get a tune that will be close for your set up. I would recommend using a terminator for your first build.
Yeah. You just need the terminator x to control the motor. If you want a drive by wire option tho you will need the xmax. So plan your build before you buy your holley
If I got the terminator x max ls1 24x (550-919) am I restricted ls1 motors or am I able to go any 5.3 4.8 6.0 with the system ? Got it for a steal on market place lol thanks in advance haven’t gotten a clear answer
All the truck motors are considered LS1 so your good to go. Since its a 24x you'll need a motor with the knock sensors on top of the Valley cover to have the right reluctor wheel for the computer you have.
You need the little dash to run the wizard in the very beginning to get started if you dont have a laptop. It will also datalog and the 7" will not on the terminator X i dont think. Its only 100$ more for the screen.
i have an LS with a 4x cam gear and a 24x crank from another engine ..can i change the end on the harness for the crank sensor .when i bought the terminator max x from holley they said i needed the 58x harness so it would fit the locations of the other sensors but i have a 24x crank sensor .so my question is can i just change the plug end and use the harness as is and set up the computer with a 24x crank and a 4x cam . thanks
I dont have the answer to this yet but im actually doing the same thing. I had a 24X motor and im building a 58x so ill post the answer as soon as I get that far. Meantime you can ask on the Holley forrum of Face Book or the Sloppy Mechanics Public page on FB as well. Lots of smart guys and even more smart asses so dont take anything to heart.
If your talking about a sheet metal intake yes. Throttle body will depend on if you are drive by wire or cable but yeah the manifold doesn’t matter and you can get the correct throttle body for your application that will bolt to that manifold.
Follow the instructions in the video and you'll know what to buy. You will need an X max to control the 4l60e. The injector harness will depend on what injectors your using and the plugs they have on them. Also if you want to drive by wire that is also an add on so make sure you decide what you want and get the right package for your application.
I have multech injectors but eventually want to go turbo would upgrade to ev1. Can I run multek injectors now and swap to ev1 or would I have to buy a new ECU I'm not trying to buy new injectors right now.
@@dojliferp8612 yes. You will need the one that matches your reluctor wheel 24 or 58 and the right injector harness. If you go in Holley website and look up the terminator x that have a section that talks about how to choose the right one.
I have a 2002 6.0 going turbo in my el Camino I have upgraded hpi 1250cc injectors but they look exactly like the truck style so the multec should work for me right?
Yes you just need to but the one with the correct harness and they need to be High Impedance injectors for the Terminator X to run them! If they came in a GM platform your good.
The Terminator X will work for you since you dont need the transmission control. If you want to run the T56 and a drive by wire you would still need the X manx to make that happen.
You'll get the hang of it. Main thing is have a realistic goal for yourself and work towards it. Lots of info out here so if you take your time you can find answers to most things.
It has everything you need to run the motor and control the trans depending on witch one you get. It also comes with a small touch screen you use to set it all up.
I dont believe so. I think it will only do the 4 speed transmissions like a 4l60e and a 4l80e but I could be wrong. You can check on the Holley website. Im sure they are working on a controller or software for that transmission if they dont have something already.
good stuff mate , if you got nuthing to do how about a video on how to down load say 1 of sloppys base tunes and add it to your laptop then your car im not that far from doing that bit myself and never done it before
In the Holley software they have a folder labeled global files. These are your tune files. So you just drag one of his tunes and drop it in this folder and bam! Pretty simple so no video required. If you get lost send me a DM on Instagram and ill walk you through it. -Dane
You need the USB cable they sell to talk to the ECU directly. If you dont have one you could always run the sed up wizard again and choose the 2.5 or 3 bar map (I forget what the choices are but I want to say I started and ran my car on the 2.5) that will get you closer to what you need if the map is your issue. You running on the internal map right now? Its a 1 bar.
Incredible info bro !! I do have a question though. I'm thinking about purchasing the lsx 454 create engine and Holley specifies that the terminator x are for the 4.8, 5.3 and the 6.0 displacement engines. Does this matter when choosing an efi system whether I go with Holley or not? Or is it irrelevant as long as the correct crank sensor (28x, 58x) and fuel injection plugs (ev1, ev6 etc) are chosen.
You can tell the software what size the motor is and it will adjust the tune for your displacement. You will need to pick what injector plug you plan on using. As for the reluctor wheel its same thing you just choose what it is but you will need the correct harness for either one so pick the system that matches what you are trying to do as far as 24x or 58x
I would go with a smaller cam unless you want to rev to the moon and make less power down low. If your only doing a cam and springs I would say some 36-42# injectors would work fine and you would have a little room to run E85 as well at some point with a little larger injector.
Depending on your set up I believe they make EFI kits for ford. The Terminator X would not control a transmission so yes if they make a kit for your motor the X would do the trick I believe.

Working on a LS swap on a 300zx, can I use the Holley Terminator X even tho I’m using the stock 300zx manual transmission??
Do I need to buy the little hand held screen if I'm gonna buy the 7 inch digital dash, or the 7 inch dash can do what the little hand held can
You need the little dash to run the wizard in the very beginning to get started if you dont have a laptop.
What about the “power tap” how is that wired in? Or is that already in the harness?
Power tap for? Like sensor 5v and 12v output? They have a plug you can wire into for that.
Helped a ton!!
I finally go around to making this video. I get this question a lot. I know you were one of the guys with some questions so glad to help man.
Really helped me out thanks for the good vid!
If you have any questions let me know. Ill help if I can. Thank you
Good concise content, thank you!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Will terminator x max efi plug and run with the sniper intake manifold and sniper throttle body on ls motor?
If your talking about a sheet metal intake yes. Throttle body will depend on if you are drive by wire or cable but yeah the manifold doesn’t matter and you can get the correct throttle body for your application that will bolt to that manifold.
How do I run the Holly Terminator x on a jeep 4.0 , I have the hyper spark distributor , can the computer run soly off that ?
Im an LS guy so sorry I don't have an answer for you.
Am using a 2001 Chevy Silverado 5.3 4l60e combo for my swap what kit can work for me also injectors
Follow the instructions in the video and you'll know what to buy. You will need an X max to control the 4l60e. The injector harness will depend on what injectors your using and the plugs they have on them. Also if you want to drive by wire that is also an add on so make sure you decide what you want and get the right package for your application.
Can I still run the Terminator Max if I have a non electric trans going to switch to a 4l80e later?
Yes you can. That way with will have flexibility later if you do upgrade
I have multech injectors but eventually want to go turbo would upgrade to ev1. Can I run multek injectors now and swap to ev1 or would I have to buy a new ECU I'm not trying to buy new injectors right now.
They make adapter harnesses for the injectors or you can just wire up new injector connectors when you make the change
What injecters, fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator do run in maliboom thanks
It has changed a bunch but right now im on a Magnafuel 4303 pump Fuel lab regulator and some snake eater 1000 cc injectors.
What one do I need if I wanna run a t56 transmission do I need the terminator x ecu our the terminator x max ecu
X
@@Burndown so just the basic terminator x ecu
@@dojliferp8612 yes. You will need the one that matches your reluctor wheel 24 or 58 and the right injector harness. If you go in Holley website and look up the terminator x that have a section that talks about how to choose the right one.
@@Burndown ok thanks a lot
I wish the prices were still the same in May 2024 as they were when this video was made......
Yes me too. It’s still a good value for the money but they are not today. If you can find a used one that works that may be an option.
Would one of these Holly's work on a 93 LT1 with 24x conversion EFI connection coil on plug with LS1 computer
They make a universal one but you would be on your own to make it work.
can I add on 4l80e to my terminator x I wanted th400 at the time when I bought it
If you have the X max yes if you just go the terminator X then unfortunately no.
Will the transmission controller control a 4l65e
Yes a 65 is the same as a 60. It just has a few parts that are a bit better inside it but its pretty much a 60.
I have a 2002 6.0 going turbo in my el Camino I have upgraded hpi 1250cc injectors but they look exactly like the truck style so the multec should work for me right?
Yes
Can holly run a ls4 with a 4T65E
Or am I stuck with a manual valve body? Thanks
That is a good question. Thats the FWD LS no?
Does the Terminator use the knock sensors?
It has provisions but no one uses them or at least I dont.
Can you use ev6 injectors with it?
Yes you just need to but the one with the correct harness and they need to be High Impedance injectors for the Terminator X to run them! If they came in a GM platform your good.
Hey will this work if your going carbureted? This helped telling me I have a 24x and need the max. Now I just need help with that
You buy this so you dont have to go carbureted. It will run the fuel injection on the LS motor.
Which one to run if I'm using a t56 transmission
The Terminator X will work for you since you dont need the transmission control. If you want to run the T56 and a drive by wire you would still need the X manx to make that happen.
@@Burndown thanks so much
@@bjigga225 You got it!
Damn dude thanks its not easy learning all this information while trying to do my first build
You'll get the hang of it. Main thing is have a realistic goal for yourself and work towards it. Lots of info out here so if you take your time you can find answers to most things.
Damn you made this like 2+2🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hope it helps. If you have any questions please let me know!
So if I have a bone stock 5.3 with a t56 I should get the TERMINATOR X 24X/1X MULTEC 2 LS MPFI KIT correct?
if your using the stock truck injectors yes sir!
@@Burndown thank for the reply! Great video i appreciate it.
@@Gabe_Z31 You got it!
So its not just the ecm? Its also harness?
It has everything you need to run the motor and control the trans depending on witch one you get. It also comes with a small touch screen you use to set it all up.
will the x max also work with 6l90 trans?
No I dont think so. Im sure they are working on it tho.
Good info
Thank you
I wanna run a 6l80 will I be able to with any terminator?

I currently have a th400… will it run fine with the XMAX? I wanna get the xmax because im thinking of going 4l80e in the future!!
Yes you just wont need the transmission control with the TH400 but you will have it if you ever upgrade.
Thanks
🙌
How in the world do I send file from laptop to ecm engine running like crap 24x truck engine all stock for now but have Holley 3bar
Do you have the canbus to USB cable?
You need the USB cable they sell to talk to the ECU directly. If you dont have one you could always run the sed up wizard again and choose the 2.5 or 3 bar map (I forget what the choices are but I want to say I started and ran my car on the 2.5) that will get you closer to what you need if the map is your issue. You running on the internal map right now? Its a 1 bar.
Whats up man!
Yes have the USB cable
@@pimpinak89 The recycle looking button up top will sync the open global file with the ECU.
This video for only LS engine owners
Yes. I made it before Holley came out with the other computers that control other platforms. Sorry for any confusion.
List the sources you are referring to in your videos. Thanks
What sources?
This guy looks like the amount of tired I hope I am someday when my garage is full of kickass cars and engines 😁🤘
I forgot what actual sleep was like man. I do know what I think are back yard built cool car tho 😁 Im working on that now.
What injectors would you recommend for a 5.3 with a BTR stg4 truck cam I may eventually do a small nos kit
I would go with a smaller cam unless you want to rev to the moon and make less power down low. If your only doing a cam and springs I would say some 36-42# injectors would work fine and you would have a little room to run E85 as well at some point with a little larger injector.
Damn good video
Thank you!
👐
Whats up FUn Fun
why do car guys wear their hats like this
The weakest men always talk bad about others
So for my truck, I’m building a ford small block but I wanna put Holley efi on it, I’m using a 5 speed manual so I should be fine with terminator x?
Depending on your set up I believe they make EFI kits for ford. The Terminator X would not control a transmission so yes if they make a kit for your motor the X would do the trick I believe.
@@Burndown they do make a kit for pushrod fords and imma run a manual so I don’t need trans control
So which one do I need for my 5.3 4l60e
You will need an XMax that matches your reluctor wheel and the correct fuel injector plugs
@@Burndown thanks man
I have a 6.2 with a 4L80 throttle cable which terminator is best
You will need the X Max to run a transmission
@@Burndown so a 5.3 with a 4l60 is the max way to go when running drive by cable TB going in a 1963 impala?
@@frankyfrank6387 yes you need a max to control the transmission as if right now. It will also do drive by wire or cable.
@@Burndown thx for the reply
If I'm building a lsx 427 and will be running a t56 which terminator x would I need to use?
Just a terminator x unless you would like to do drive by wire
