Safety... the brain needs to feel that first.... So true! It's like the brain needs to know it can be off duty from keeping vigil and that it can take a break. That's been my experience so many times. Frustrating when the brain doesn't seem to believe the message, but for me, it's finally coming through. A lot of that takes place during the day, when I tell my brain all day, you're fine, everything is actually much safer than you think. If my brain believes it, it works. So, the trick for me is telling myself things my brain actually believes are true. It sometimes takes a literal "argument" with my brain, but then, it slowly gets there. Thank you for explaining the speed bumps, Aly!

Thank you! Was doing well for about two weeks, then went on a trip and got back on meds. I think that behavior alone told my brain "oh you can't do this by yourself anymore." And I fell back in the trap

Started with severe insomnia agter birth 2 years ago. Found the channel and did the program 3 or 4 months in. Got somewhat better but coukd still never sleep with another person and had 1 to 4 sleepless nights a month. Im back in a cycle of 10 days mostly 1 tp 2 hours a night. How do i get out of this speed bump? How do i leave inslmnia fully and able to camp, travel, sleep with a partner again? It feels so hopeless after 2 years

    5. sleep is not the cure. Absolutely true. My early days I'd think if just get some consecutive nights of natural sleep il be fixed. It's definitely a process that takes time.

I'm definitely better but can count on 2 nights per week of little or no sleep. For now, I'm embracing it. But I'm also wondering is this the rest of my life?

In a way, the question “will this be forever?” is one of the easiest to reply to, because nothing is forever. Impermanence is one of the only things we can be sure of. Very glad things have gotten easier 😊

I've been in the exact same spot for some time now. I find though that as time goes on I'm getting better at ignoring the yuk nights and adjusting the next day to compensate for the relative lack of energy. Whatever. 🥱
