Mr Kassan you did a great job on this video. This was precisely the clear and simple information I was looking for to mat drawings of my grandkids and a few friends. I thought about having my drawings framed at Michael’s but, I realized I could do it myself and make the entire art piece (drawing, mat and frame) more personalized. Sincere thanks my friend. Best wishes; great video. 👍🏽❤️
Thanks for mentioning the name of the cutter! I bought one on Amazon not to long ago but it was junk. Can't wait to try this one on all the pieces I've fnished this past year and have been waiting to frame. Thanks again! 🙏🏽
Thank you so much! Years ago I gave away my mat cutter, and I'm regretting that now. Your video is showing me how I can get a quality Logan cutter and use it at great savings!
After growing up with feel inches and fractions, to being an adult and basically being forced to use metric, I must say it is a million times easier in metric and the old fashioned 3/8 and 5/16ths etc seems so stupid to me now. I like the little gadget and very well explained too.
True that. Imperial measurements are just tiniest example of the good old USA doing the objectively stupidest thing, contrary to the rest of the world having moved on.
Great explanation! I have the ability to print my own panorama photos, but that is not a common mat size to have so I now need to resort to cutting my own mats. Fingers crossed. I can do it as good as you've done it.
Thank you for the demonstration! I’ve been getting custom mats made for my Palestinian embroidery art, but I want to start making own. This video is super helpful!
On Ebay, at the moment, it will cost me over £11 {and another silly amount for p+p!} to have the size mount/mat I want. Now, thanks to you, I can get a cutting tool for a tenner and do it meself! Thank you.
Ouch, I tried this on 1/4" foam board from the dollar store and a quilt mat to protect my table. I could not get the razor to go through the board. What is the mat board are you are using? I joined Makerspace in Rochester NY and can now make my own frames on l laser cutter. I do all kinds of pebble arts, embroider and cross stitch, none of which I have yet to frame. I am going to do this!
I've got a Logan cutter and ruler that interlock, but I can't seen to get the cutter set are the right depth. I usually cut on newspaper which ends up in shreds, but your seems to be set just right.
I cringed everytime the good side of the mat was turned and it scraped the table surface. I would put a clean sheet of paper to place it on. Also I would leave the bottom heavy, meaning thicker than the sides and top. The weight of the bottom is pleasing to the eye.
So even though you are cutting a custom matte for a specific photo, you did not have the preesence of mind to let the full edge get viewed and still insisted on a crop. You cut off the top round of the metal rod holding the bird feeder. The photographer went out of their way to not cut it off. That is what a framer is supposed to do, when easily possible; show what is in the print and not 'cut corners'. I' would ask for a recut of the matte if I were the customer.
Great demo! 10 yrs later, it is still relevant and very useful. Many thanks!
This was very helpful! Thank you.

You sound exactly like that character actor with the NY accent from a popular sitcom....Ray, ???? Oh what's his name?
Great video. That Logan cutter is now $35 on Amazon. Gulp!

I also put a mat scrap under the one being cut so it doesn't cut the work surface.

Thank You, sir! G
Thanks for the tips
Nice video.
Pls how do I get the cutter?
Looks great but I was taught to always leave slightly more border at the bottom than at the top: looks better and allows for annotation
How thick is your mat 4 ply?

I've got a Logan cutter and ruler that interlock, but I can't seen to get the cutter set are the right depth. I usually cut on newspaper which ends up in shreds, but your seems to be set just right.

Ruben Salazar he did mention this off center at the end of the video.
There's always one isn't there. SMH
