I’ve just cut my first oval matte, luckily I had 2 pieces as I got it right second time! Thanks for the hands on tutorial as I would not have made sense of it from the instruction book alone.😁
I have just bought this cutter, its very good considering I'm a beginner, but not that easy to use, you will need to practice a few times untill your confident, i found that if you dont hold the centre block down firm it has the tendency to lift up making it awkward to realign, but it still makes a nice job.
+Meisha Bendigo Yes it is close to a 45 degree bevel. With the Logan machine the angle cannot be varied. I will check it for you. With our computerised cutter the Valiani Libra we are able to cut ovals and any shape with either a 40 degree, 45 degree or 90 degree angle.
The largest oval is 508 x 584mm. The Logan Oval and Circle Mat Cutter cuts ovals from 3"x 4-1/2" (76mm x 115mm) up to 20" x 23" (508mm x 584mm) and circles from 4" to 20" (102mm to 508mm). Kind regards, David Schummy
+k CARVING It is not easy to cut a beveled oval window with a normal knife or scalpel. You could run a knife around a hard template and potentially sandpaper the join where you put the blade in and out. It is far easier to use a tool designed for the task. Best regards, David Schummy

Thank you for your thoroughness and clarity.
So helpful!! Thank you!
Mystery solved! Thanks.
Does the blade holder suppose to be stable? Mine seems to move alot
Great! Thank you! Is that a 45-degree bevel? I can't find any literature or video that mentions the angle adjustment for the bevel. Thank you!

Great. Thank you.
The easiest way to mark a centre point is to go from corner to corner diagonally and when they cross thats your centre.

Tooooooooooo expensive for my measly pension, I'll have to go back to the old school method of 2 map pins.... String and a steady scalpel hand.
wouldn't it be easier to just get the shaoe and trace it
