    When taping the art to the back of the mat it’s better to only tape the top and let gravity do the rest especially when watercolor paper is all cotton. It has a better chance of flattening out! A framer for 22 years! But love your videos thanks so much!

      What tape do you use?

    • @yunzers
      @yunzers 2 месяца назад +1

      @@blahqwe I use an archival white artist tape for my paintings, for special works on paper we sometimes use rice paper hinges.

      @@blahqwe I always use strong masking tape, some are better than others. Trial and error!

    I was searching for an easy DIY photo mount video. Of all I’ve seen, so far, I like this one best. I have one tiny old photo, awkward size, to put in a special frame with an equally awkward mount. Thank you for this tutorial

    Great tutorial thanks. I buy cheap frames with mats and paint in sizes to fit but just had a look at the price of mat cutters and think I should be cutting some custom size mats for smaller paintings.

    So helpful.
    Several years ago, I tried to frame a large picture in an even larger frame. Big mistake 🙄🤦🏻‍♂️.
    It started going wrong pretty much as soon as I decided to put a large picture in an even larger frame! Ooh...de ja vous!
    Anyway, a stanley knife and a piece of wood were not the ideal bedfellows, and I had to put an amazing print in about the worst viewing point of my house because the border was, to use the vernacular, 'pants!'
    As of 10 minutes ago, I ordered the correct kit and will be attempting to do justice to a wonderful, vibrant picture.
    However, should I manage to bugger it up, please know that I shall blame you utterly!
    Cheers 😉

    How are circles at 45 degrees(beveled) cut?

    • @Frankwatercolours
      @Frankwatercolours  Месяц назад

      One doesn't usually mount watercolours in circular mounts? I've never done one and never seen anyone do this. Interesting concept, but I think you are alone on this one.

    Are mounting boards and mat boards the same material?

    should we be concerned about acid free tape or not? You mentioned below that you used masking tape, i'm guessing that has acid in it.

    • @jarlsoars1150
      @jarlsoars1150 6 месяцев назад

      It will degrade over a short time and is probably acidic. You can find acid free/archival mounting tape at hobby and major art outlets. There's also mounting adhesives, say, if you need to affix the work to a foam core backboard.

    You always leave a larger margin at the bottom than the top basic stuff

      I always centre my mount, but each to his own, there are no rules.
