    The drum-off between Greyson v Zack was an awesome thing to watch

    Biggest issue with crazy designs is that if it’s a lifetime drum set and many years down the road you want to add another drum or replace damaged, you’re out of luck.

    All these drum companies trying to out do each other I learned something from a wise man They are all round and go boom

    All those amazing drum finishes and people still want matt black drums?
    To me that's like being in a candy store, having free ranch to have any sweet, then going "No it's alright I'll just lick a wrapper."

    • @DrummerGrrrl
      @DrummerGrrrl 11 месяцев назад

      Range. Not ranch. Free ranch. Hahahahaha!

    • @mancuniancandidatem
      @mancuniancandidatem 11 месяцев назад

      The problem is that those beautiful finishes are impractical. I own a stunning Sonor Highlite that I purchased from a drum show in 1990. It's a rare beautiful one off kit. Gigging with the thing was like trying to take out your Mum's best dinning room table. Every inevitable scratch and ding felt like a punch in the gut.

      No I was a bit gutted the Varus weren’t there at all. There was a couple of drum companies I was surprised to not see to be fair.

    Was there on the Sunday with some mates, i think we were the only locals there! . Pity you didn't get the Zebra drums being played they sound incredible and i heard others saying that too. Saw Greyson playing at another stand too and got some photos. Absolutely amazing show, was still buzzing the day after and proud of our city hosting such a great event.

    Can’t stand seeing someone try to play the same drumset someone is playing at the same time. Usually really detracts from the actual person behind the kit’s playing

  • @MrCherryJuice
    @MrCherryJuice 11 месяцев назад +2

    Thank you for this. First thing I notice - and welcome - is the return of larger kits, with three top and two low toms. True, not always practical, but nice to get back to 'normal' after the trend toward three- and four-piece kits. As someone who has worked in the drum industry for many years and attended many shows, I can assure you that the industry cannot survive on the sales of small kits with just one or two cymbals. In the 80s many drummers were playing 7- or 8-piece kits with a half dozen or more cymbals.
    Also nice that you thank Tony McNally. He is really keen and it would be nice if some of the others in the industry exhibited even a fraction of the enthusiasm he does.
    The downside is all that noise. It ruins the show for everyone. It is one thing to 'test' a kit - a light tap on the heads with a stick will do that, or some subtle grooving. The fools bashing away in 'look at me' mode should be shown the door.
    Thank you again. You first show? Nice that you enjoyed it. Maybe I'll see you at next year's event.

    • @JasonSayersDrums
      @JasonSayersDrums  11 месяцев назад +1

      I actually enjoy playing all different sizes and setups of kits as I find it helps me due to the fact when playing on “house kits” you never know what setup it maybe. Personally I love large kits but when traveling I definitely go for the smaller setup.
      Tony is the nicest person I’ve met in a long time and really took me in. He is so enthusiastic about drumming in general that he inspires just through listening to him.
      It does really get loud at the show but only for 15 minutes. That said trying to hear the drums natural beauty was hard in that environment and ended up being a snare volume war at some points.
      It was my first ever drum show and yes I will be at next years for sure!
      Thank you’d or taking the time to comment this too btw.

      Paiste were there with the Mapex stand but the lights were flickering way too much, so the footage was not usable. There were quite a few companies I was surprised to not see there for sure.
