I’m here in 2024, gosh I wish I could go back when I was young & take advantage of following the Moody Blues a lot more than I did. I’m doing it now, but it’s not the same. I always loved them in the 60’s, but at sometime our radio didn’t play their songs…I feel cheated! 😪♥️🌹

The absolute best most real enmeshed immersive moving live performance I have ever seen...
The group was so in sync with the intention of the beautiful words of this poem to all of us, the other comments not withstanding, the words to this song are what make it so special, and the total immersion of each group member into the cause of this song, as one, I can think of only one other song performance, even close ...
    .
The guy next to the stage, immersed in experiencing it, the girl who appears to want so much to see what is happening, her look, the excitement notwithstanding how she appears out of tune, the sense that she has got to see what is going on, and her too cool hippy vibe, what an amazing together time, and real.
    .
the total involvement in the mood of every note of Ray, his sheepishness when he messes up his first part ( I saw him in person, and he was always candid, about being awful when he missed notes, ti was absolutely endearing and I thnk is the gel that made that together emotion possible, but he nails it later on, and his total body absorbption into what the song means, his so cool self-effacing comments to begin, he was such a wonderful wonderful human being and it comes through here and will always do so,
    ,
Justin's absolutely beautiful guitar work, better than the studio version, the perfectly timed emotion of the guitar complimenting perfectly the intentions of Mike Pinder.
    .
The Moody Blues were a creation of that time, the perfect coming together of optimism, awareness, realization of the horrific state of our World, at the same time, the idealistic view, to get away from it, as an entire generation did for such a beautiful if short time.
    .
It is not any one's fault that this MOOD did not linger, the era that followed simply did not allow it.
    .
But they Key to this whole thing, is the beauty of the message: tune out of an Awful World, TUNE into World where you are truly FREE of such a horrible present reality, and immerse yourself in each other, letting each other know there is a good reality, and it is starts with realizing we are all the together in this VOYAGE, not ALONE, and an ETERNITY is in that moment of realization.
    .
it is that feeling that comes across so beautifully. The BAND is ONE - the complete emersion of Graeme Edge and John Lodge's amazing part of the sshhing, I have not ever seen any other song peformed so perfectly, the imperfection of Ray is what makes it even more amazing, his whole body recoiling, but then coming so back in tune, you know this group is real and true. I am speechless. and could play this over & over again, for all eternity … I know Ray will be forever … as will all of the Moodies, the most amazing collection of common purpose, that we will ever see, but will return, I am certain one day... if we make it there, through the nightmare we are enduring, this song and group makes it possible to endure. I touch each their spirits, they are a part of us and will always be...

This vid is great! I didn't know that Pinder sang lead ? The Moodys are so original, to this day there is no one else that sounds like them!

As a young teen, this song perked my early interest in the human history and philosophy…to embark on a life time journey of discovery, out and in. Many thanks to the moody blues for endless listening pleasure and for guidance along the Higher Plane.

Taking the film quality, and video quality of that day.
    Considering everyone is stoned immaculate.
This song takes you into that cosmic level that the
Moodies experimented with, then denied they could
    go their.
The talent was remarkable. A mix of genius, ability,
and then the truth of their endeavour.
forever strive for perfection in your endeavours....

This video shows why I admire these guys so much...talent unequaled and they have retained all of it. With the tuning issues it makes it so REAL which I especially love! I so wish that Mike P. would have stayed with the band but life takes it's twists and turns. My boyfriend took me to see them in concert - Cardiff, Wales 2010 and I tell you...when they walked in I felt that I was in the presence of genius. Their music: transcendent. ~Moodies Fan Forever.

I can hardly believe they played this mind-bogglingly difficult piece live without trying to play at least two instruments each simultaneously and got away with it. I think that Mike is playing the piano part on the Mellotron here. Fantastic. Thanks for posting.

started listening to The Moody Blues in 1973. I was 13. My first recording bought was their 8 track😁, This is the Moody Blues..
What a treat to see these guys playing the songs I listened to constantly growing up ..
The flute always was my favorite of all. Boy, was he handsome. And learning he was the founder of The Moody Blues was doubly nice.
Love the history on RUclips. Thanks for downloading. What a gem. .

Awesome to listen to this old recording with Mike Pinder still part of the group (thanks for sharing it). This is serious music-making, totally transporting, as always, for the unforgettable and ultra-talented Moody Blues.

Pinder was a musical mastermind of the group i think. his compositions have the most innovative, experimental elements of the entire works they made. with his talent and direction. the group could be 'progressive' at that time. i don't know what he's doing these days but he left big legacy. thanks for the rare vid. :-)

How unfortunate it is that we have to listen to the sloppy, monosyllabic drum fills during this otherwordly composition and performance. It must have infuriated Pinder to have to sing and play against the sonic backdrop of what sounds like someone falling down a flight of stairs.

The Moodies and the Beatles, 2 bands where the whole is greater than the sum of their parts. Justin is their heart,Mike is their soul, Graeme is their energy, Ray is their whimsy and John is their head and the glue that holds it all together. They absolutely belong in the Hall of Fame, unfortunately I fear they'll never make it unless the above 5 can find a way to come together 1 more time to remind everyone just how good and relevant they were/are!!

Me growing up in the 1960's in the US for the last 46 years my parents bought all the MB LP's as they were 'word of mouth' at any University.. We did'nt get to see them live and not until the WEB could I have been blessed with witnessing this 'footage'. Iam such a huge MB fan but there was never any movies or video's out(in the US) of their early years until just recently... Thankyou for sharing!

    Extraordinary music, extraordinary band!
Saw the band in concert in Oct 1972, it was magical - hard to find the right words to accurately describe my emotional reaction. Saw the band again in concert in the Fall of 2014 sans Ray Thomas. There were moments I actually wept in my chair to the sound of the music. (signed: combat veteran, retired U.S. Army Airborne Infantry)
