Literally bought a brand new C70 two weeks ago! Absolutely fantastic camera. I switched from the BMPCC 6K and 6K G2, I just needed something much simpler and requires little to no rigging. Plus it pairs well with my R6 MKII.
It's crazy how different you feel without a cage. I ended up getting it 3 weeks ago and I'm still trying to figure everything out. Although it was pretty similar to my Canon R5C. I just have no EF glass and I cannot find the cheaper focal reducer in stock anywhere. So I am kind of stuck using cinema lenses or my 24 to 70 right now
Even as an FX3 owner, I definitely think the C70 is worth it in 2024. Like so many other cameras on the market, the C70 is a tremendous piece of tech and you can pretty much cut between any of these cameras and fool even the trained eye. I feel like a slew of amazing cameras got released since 2020 and camera tech has almost plateaued. It really just comes down to personal preferences and use cases. These cameras will only diminish in relevancy when 4k ceases to be the standard which might be 4-6 years.
Is a new C70 set to release or do we know how much it might change from the current camera. Debating whether to buy now or when the next camera releases?
I have no clue, I've read in Canon Rumors that two new cinema cameras will be announced at the end of 2024, but no idea if it will be a C70 MK2 or C90. The C70 more than capable and will be relevant in the next 3-5 years now. If it checks off the box with what you need, then go ahead and get it.
I purchased one a month ago, and I absoutely love it I wish I had purchased one years ago :( I have been using my R6 for video but I wanted something dedicated for video and the image from the C70 is beautiful 🤩
Best camera I have ever owned. I considered buying the RED Komodo OG when it first launched, but after holding and shooting with the C70 for 10 min. I was OBSESSED!!! This camera is so much fun to shot with, so yeah it’s diffenately worth it❤️
just fyi, the increased f stop with the speedbooster changes the light gathering only, it doesn't suddenly make your lens go from a 2.8 to a 2 in regards to DOF. It does let you use longer focal lengths for the same angle of view which gives you shallower DOF, but it is equivalent to using a FF camera. Using a 50mm 2.8 on a FF camera and using a 50 2.8 (boosted to f2 with the speedbooster) on the C70 = same image just a stop more light otherwise great video, owned both the C70 and the Fx3, C70's image is way better, but the lack of ibis is a pain for doc work if you don't want to go full RF
Hey, yeah I know that the bokeh doesn’t change only the extra stop of light hitting the sensor does. What I mean when I refer to going to a lower f-stop is I’m getting more light. So true!! What system are you currently using?
@@NavolForge ah shit my bad I miss heard your reasoning to get the C70 for 1.4 shooting (internal NDs, makes sense!) Fx3 atm, miss the C70 🥺 I mainly miss the image (Fx3 crushes blacks in comparison) and in body XLR ports (the top handle for the fx3 sucks, can't mount a heavy monitor in a good spot on that thing). My work around is to record lav audio to a rode go pro (32 bit float is great) and sync in post. But the pros of the fx3 are largely ergonomic based, and the IBIS even though it's not great, it's still much better on micro jitters than the C70, also the C70 was never comfortable to shoot with. An fx3 with a small cage and vmount rig is ergonomically very comfortable apparently canon is about to drop 2 cine cameras though :O pretty exciting
@@louie8488 Yes! that's what most of my friends that have made the switch have said about the FX3. Yeah I'm excited to hear what Canon is about to release. The Canon R5C was suppose to compete with the FX3, but Canon really did not take into consideration what the actual user wanted, and failed us in so many ways with the R5C. It could have really complemented the C70, like the FX3 is to the FX6.
Came from a C100 M2 (still a great camera!) so my new C70 is freakin' awesome. I understood the pros and cons of the super 35 sensor so no big shock. I still think the Panasonic S52 is insanely great for the money but once you've had built-in ND's very hard to go back. Terrific battery life. My only big problem is no EVF - Outdoors I really find it a problem.Great camera for my documentary style work - still a solid workhorse -
@@pizzlesshorts Obviously the C70 is a great run-and-gun camera, especially for documentary shooters - why Canon did not make a EVF even a option is beyond me. I've come up with some DIY solutions but the built in display is useless outside - IMHO
The C70 is great but I never got used to using it at weddings because of the size and weigth, in the end I made a trade in adorama, the C70 and speedbooster for 2 Lumix S5II and an S5, the lumix IBIS makes my life easier! But the C70 is nice camera
It's all about finding the right tool that works best for you. I wish the C70 had IBIS and built how Lumix does it because their stabilization is insane!
Wassup Javier! I use the Canon C70 for my RUclips channel and professional work as well. I bought mine in Oct. 2022 and I completely agree. I don’t ever see myself investing in another work camera that doesn’t have the following features…Built in ND’s, mini or full size XLR audio inputs, or false color. If the C70 MII has SDI, I’m sold. Great video 🫱🏽🫲🏾
Very true, and my opinion has not changed I still think the Canon C70 is overall superior. However my business needs have changed, and I have to adapt to it. I still own my C70's and I might sell one, or keep all three and have two FX3's. Either way I'll make a video about it and let you know......

Your going to love it brother! Definitely an amazing cinema camera!!

My daily workhorse is a C70 paired with the Canon 18-80. Great tools that will get the job done.
💯💯💯
Just bought mine, super excited!!😮💨
By far my favorite camera. The image is what we sell and the image is smokin!!
Agree brother!! 💯💯💯

DGO sensor...that´s what make this camera very special..
Very true!
Several cameras have dual gain sensors, a somewhat common feature actually!

Your wedding films look like cinema movies 😍
Thank you! A lot of work has been done over the years to get to that level. The C70 is definitely the right tool!
That being said you really shouldn't have to send it in for a repair. I'm glad I got there warranty extended.
Thanks for the video, feeling your passion..
What about the image, I mean Sonys look Sony and the C70 is so buttery
I agree! I love the image that the C70 renders. It’s perfect for me.
yes it worth
This camera is so good that in 2 weeks from posting this video I purchased an fx3...........
