    Actually, the C70 with a speed booster provides the field of view of a full-frame sensor, but that's not all:
    The bokeh will be IDENTICAL to the bokeh of a full-frame camera with the same lens.
    Indeed, bokeh is determined by the OPTICS, not the sensor.
    The perception that smaller sensors result in less bokeh is false.
    It's just because of the CROP FACTOR that the bokeh appears less pronounced.
    So, with a speed booster, the bokeh of the C70 is equivalent to the bokeh of an R5C, for example!

    Great points - Just bought a C70 and no regrets - Yes doesn't have the low light capability of full-frame, but very respectable still. The built-in NDs and built in audio is great. Battery life is very good. Lots of codec choices. I came from a C100 M2 and this camera is a HUGE step up. Once you have built in NDs you can't go back

      Hey thanks for the great comment. I have a pocket 6k and a pocket 4k. Amazing cameras. They cant do 12bit raw to SD cards. QO, their 12bit raw I can only get to work with Samsung T5 SSD's. I could do 10bit recording to Sd's though. Unless I wasnt aware of something, 12bit raw to SD cards I can only think of the C70, and prior to that I thought it was impossible. The GH6, great camera! I had it for 2 weeks, unfortunately returned it because I wanted more out of the sensor, the MFT mount wasnt the best in low light for me anyways, also I wasnt that good back then so maybe it was my lack of knowledge.

      It can. So can other cameras, but the Canon c70 has an incredible dual gain sensor and it does 12bit raw to SD cards and that to me is hard to beat. Just a personal opinion.

    Currently, I'm running with the Sony FX30. Which is a great camera. But, I am considering on upgrading to a higher end camera. More and more, I am drawn back to the Canon C70. Especially for the reasons you mention in this video. Thanks for sharing your experience.

    • @theyrecord
      @theyrecord  6 месяцев назад +1

      There is a upgrade you can do to your fx30 (great camera) with a ninja V external recorder. When I used my fx3 I always recorded externally as it gave me Pro Res HQ (nicer file to work with and nicer footage) and it can also record 12 bit pro res raw. I’m pretty sure same applies for fx30 but I could be wrong so just research it. But the c70 is a great upgrade 🙌🏻 you just have to know a bit of colour grading as there’s only flat or rec 709 ish profiles. Meaning they needs slight grades after as it’s a true cinema camera.

    1 reason to buy C70 over FX3 = C70 has super quality sensor with linear grow of noise and 100% same dynamic range AND MIDDLE GRAY of any ISO!! FX3 has dual base ISO 800 and 12800 (3200-10000 unusable), when you switch to second base ISO you loose 1,5 stop of dynamic range from 12,4 to 10,9 stops instantly. C70 is by far on another level...

      How is it in lowlight? Can you get no noise at 3200?

    • @theyrecord
      @theyrecord  5 месяцев назад

      For me personally, I never use it at 3200 so I wouldn’t know. But I use it with the speedbooster and canon CN-E lenses that go down to a T.95-T1.2 or so with the extra strop of light. So I never have a problem in low light.

    I got the c70 the day it came out.. today i own two of them.. a R5c and a R3.. Great cameras all of them.
    Good advise thoug. the bottom of the camera needs a plate that sits into ALL three screw holes. - Its only fastned with two really small screws into plastic and will fall out with little pull.
    mine was pulled out and fell on the ground and had to get repaired.
    And of course the first one of my c 70´s had the screen henge replaced as well, but it was under warranty.

    • @theyrecord
      @theyrecord  7 месяцев назад

      Hey! Thanks for this great comment. Incredible cameras. Question, you said you had a problem with the screen hinge? I hear this a lot and IM not really using mine because of that. Whats your experience with it like? Hows the second cameras hinge after they seemed to fix the issue? Hows the repair? Should I baby mine or let it fly?

    • @baekmedier
      @baekmedier 7 месяцев назад +1

      It was only on the first batch.. The new one has no problems at all.
      And I really use mine and dont baby my cameras at all! when they breake I send them in for a repair.
      But what I was surpriced by was the three bottom screws.
      They are held into the body of the camera by tiny screws on each side. - I got the small rig bottom plate to be able to use alle three mounting holes at the same time to not put to much stress on only one. @@theyrecord

    Ok, byt it's like top 10 why i have bought c79, abd the last one about SB sounds like excuse, idk
    UDP: also F-stop in the meaning of DOF and ISO multiplies by crop factor to get similar look like on 35mm sensor. So, your tipical F2.8 on zoom lens multiplies by 1.6 (crop factor of sensor) and then by 0.71(crop factor of SB), so Fstop of C70=2.8*1.6*0.71=3,18. Also you loose some light and sharpness due SB is an optical element, idk it's worse than 35mm lens and sensor anyway.

    • @theyrecord
      @theyrecord  7 месяцев назад

      Hey thanks for this breakdown, helps a lot. Yea you're absolutely right, this video is from my personal experience and why I bought the c70, my top 10 reasons. The main reason for me was the 12bit raw workflow.

  • @skyscraperfan
    @skyscraperfan 7 месяцев назад +2

    16.5 stops of dynamic range are a result of the dual gain output though. So they are a single point.
    ND filters are used excessively in videography to make the background as blurry as possible. It seems to be the race for the blurriest background, because that is a way to show off a very expensive and fast lens. I prefer not having bokeh in any photo or video. If the background of a video is too distracting, you should choose a less distracting background.
    The speed booster of course does not really give you more light than your lens can let through. It just concentrates the full frame sensor light on a smaller area. So it just gives you back the light that you lost by using a smaller sensor. If you use a full frame f/2.8 lens on an APS-C camera, that f/2.8 number is misleading, because on an AFS-C camera it just gives you an f/4.48 full frame equivalent. So the speed booster will not really create an f/2 lens. It will just repair some of the "damage" that the crop has done, but not all. The crop of APS-C is 1.6x and the speed booster gives you a 0.71x crop. If you multiply those, you will still have a 1.136 crop compared to a full frame camera. So you still get less light on a C70 with a speed booster than on a full frame camera without a speed booster. The f/2.8 lens will be a f/3.18 full frame equivalent.
