    Fun fact for the Chaos Elfilis fight, in the background you can hear a female voice "Here we are!" on repeat in the background. Since they captured him and used him as essentially a exhibit while experimenting on him, that voice is so ingrained in his mind that even while he is a literal soul without a body, he can still hear it.

    One Miiverse post had previously stated that both the Magolor seen in the mainline games and the one seen in the Kirby Clash games are the same one. This was only implied by him suddenly using gem apples (the premium currency of Team Kirby Clash Deluxe and Super Kirby Clash) in Star Allies. It was finally shown in Return to Dreamland Deluxe, which also confirms he was lying about being native to Halcandra.

    By the way, I'm one of the two translators that RPG Monger credited at the end of this video. I didn't give direct input on their video or anything, I'm just the one that retranslated and analyzed any of the issues in FL's localization (Of which were very minor compared to Star Allies or Planet Robobot). The other translator credited, Kai-alone, did the same for Planet Robobot (I actually also did the same for Planet Robobot at nearly the exact same time, coincidentally. I have done so for Triple Deluxe, Return to Dream Land, and Star Allies as well now).
    Susie is an interesting case where instead the fan translation (Or rather, fans' interpretations of the direct translation of the JP) is more likely misinformation. It's true that the English description mentions that Susie is still mechanizing planets while the Japanese one doesn't mention that. It wouldn't make much sense since she doesn't have a magic supercomputer like Star Dream to let her conquer and mechanize planets like that anyway. However, the Japanese description still says she wants to rebuild her father's company, and she says that in order to use science to aid in creating happy families, she has to eliminate the savages, which was what her father said about Kirby. So it's actually not clear how 'redeemed' she really is in the Japanese text.

    • @TheLegitWeebs
      @TheLegitWeebs  4 дня назад +18

      Dang it. My head cannon wants to believe in Susie, but knowing what I know of Kirby lore they might leave that morally grey to throw in a mixup later on down the line.
      Thanks for the extra clarification!

    • @UchaNekome
      @UchaNekome 2 дня назад +1

      @@TheLegitWeebs I like to believe she believes the dark and aggressive people out to harm the "happy families" are the "savages" to her now, because she clearly has nothing against Kirby or any of his friends this point. Still it feel rather colonial for her to use words like that at all so who knows. :/

    Kirby lore is actually super wild as it evolves, since so much is based on nonverbal implications, designs, attack patterns, and pause screens. Early Kirby theories were about Meta Knight, Galacta Knight, and Kirby being the same species. Or Adeleine being the last surviving human from Shiver Star. It’s crazy how far we’ve come with Kirby theories, and how far we still have to go.
    Btw something not mentioned that I think is neat is that Meta Knight’s sword is the master sword, and it’s presumably made by the same ancients who created the master crown. Void termina uses both the Master crown and Master sword in its attacks.

  • @gatr2897
    @gatr2897 4 дня назад +7

    What really boggles my mind about the Forgotten Land is how much time has passed since its inhabitants left for Dreamland. The Ancients in the main dimension are, well, really really ancient, at least as old as Galacta Knight, likely much older. With time running much faster in the Forgotten Land, Elfilis's percieved amount of time between the ancients leaving and Kirby arriving is just mind boggling, certainly enough time for the life on that planet to also evolve intelligence as they did, which makes me wonder if that's the reason why the writers made time run so fast there, to make itore believable lol. It reminds me of how in Splatoon lore after humans went extinct it only took marine life about 10 thousand years to evolve to the stage humans were at, so in Splatoon 3 they had an explanation of how that was even possible.
    Star Allies what if scenerio was really cool for the fact that it wasn't just a Meta Knight mode. Star Allies's unique gimmick was the ability to make friends with certain enemies in the levels and have them follow and fight with you, and you could also recruit dream friends which were major characters like Dedede and Meta Knight, but they also ended up adding TONS of them with updates, it's why Monger called it the Infinity War of Kirby in the last video. With this many NPC movesets in the game, that naturally means a bunch of theoretically playable movesets and that's exactly what the what if mode of Star Allies was! Kirby Fighters 2 was also pretty cool for this reason, it was basically a platform fighter that played like a Kirby game. I didn't play too much Kirby Fighters but in Star Allies I mained Susie and Dark Meta Knight when running the challenge modes :) Susie has a laser gun that can be powered up with help from different Allies (like making it an OP flamethrower) and she can also use her mech. DMK just has bigass hitboxes and stuff he covers the screen in swords.
    Forgotten Land is the first game in awhile at least with zero non-canon content. The whole thing with Elfilis's dream dimension, Morpho Knight, and even the Arena (traditional boss rush mode) all happen in sequence in the post game, following up the main story and tying up loose ends and whatnot. I feel like Kirby lore has only really become super popular in the past 5 years or so, so I see a lot of the ways Forgotten Land changes things up as the developers response to all the new eyes on it. This was Kirby's first fully 3D game and I could see them going the mario route of having both 2D and 3D entries going forward. And I gotta say, Kirby taking so long to attempt 3D was really a godsend, this game isn't 3D just for the sake of it, you can really tell they were enthusiastic to take full advantage of what 3D brings, some of the level designs really blew me away. I can definently vouch for playing it, it might be my favorite. The Switch is also loaded with some of Kirby's best hits in the NSO game bundle things as well as Star Allies and Return to Dreamland Deluxe (the latter I still need to play myself ;-;)
    Kirby is so appealing it's almost sickening, there's just so much to love, every aspect of the series is made with love from the gameplay to the story to the music to the character designs, it just attracts all types of fans, and I think that's cool, he's truly a little icon :)
    In terms of new Kirby games, Return to Dreamland Deluxe came out after this and has an extra mode starring Magalor that I know every little about other than it being a roguelike, other than that tho, we gotta just let HAL cook for now

    Theres a game that came out after this one too! Kirby's Return to Dreamland DX is a remake of the Magolor story- where it tied the story of Super Kirby Clash into canon (thus making Galacta Knight/Aeon Hero officially canon!), but it also made the hard mode canon rather than the normal mode of that game, thus making another noncanon boss real in the form of Magolor Soul!

    I'd recomend checking out a video on King DeDeDe redededemption, if you're interested in learning about some of the more specific details about some of the characters. Since this video is more grand scale.
    I've always love how a lot of people not really too in to Kirby view King DeDeDe as the Bowser to Kirby's Mario, but they've been borderline besties for ages in the game. (I blame his characterisation in Right Back At Ya for this view point. Even if I do like him and his voice a lot in it)
    If I'm not forgetting anything (which I could be) bro's been on the path of redemption since the extra mode ending to the og itself, Kirby's Dream Land.
    Kirby 64 was over 20 years ago, I'm pretty sure he doesn't count as even an antagonist anymore.

    Now I said last time you could watch Woolies Lore videos if you wanted. It is more detailed, but I don't know if you'll get anything more in terms of 'big reveals' that haven't already been gone over.
    Although given your clear enjoyment of Nier Automata. How about seeing where it all started? I'm suggesting you watch the nearly six and a half hour long video; The Complete, Unabridged Timeline of NieR by EruptionFang. A daunting watch I know and one you'll have to break into parts, but its touches on everything. All Drakengards, the tie-in mangas, NieR 1 and so on in chronological order. It's very expansive, but rather well presented.

    Some spoilers for the remake of Kirby and Return to Dreamland. In Kirby and return to Dreamland Deluxe, there is an additional game mode which is Magolors Epilogue. Essentially, we play as Magolar after defeating him and freeing him from the Master Crown, being very weaken and lost most of his magic. He basically goes through space purgatory where we recover his magic and assemble some crystal apple which got then possessed by the remants of the Master Crown, turning it into some eldritch tree. After defeating this evil, he managed to escaped and it is revealed that he ends up in the KIrby Clash games universe, being the same Magolor who serves as shopkeeper there before somehow ending up back the main universe and made as an apology a theme park for Kirby and co for wanting to become a greedy ruthless overlord of the cosmos and lied and betrayed them before.
    Our boy got an entire redemption arc and really became a good guy after all.
    Unless you consider microtransactions in the Kirby Clash games, an equally evil deed.
