Something worth noting about Kumazaki is that he became a game dev because he played the the first two Kirby games as a kid and the fact that Dedede the villain from the first game was trying to save the world in the second one blew his little kid mind

9:30 good news! In Super Kirby Clash (confirmed canon by the return to dreamland remake!), Taranza does find peace in the bonds hes made! Hes doing good!! you should take some song suggestions if you wanna hear the OST! Its amazing!!
The person in the video seems to mix up the plot of Triple Deluxe and Planet Robobot at 7:30. In Triple Deluxe, the Flower clan of Floralians sent a seed filled with their wishes to the Lower World, which was meant to find a Hero to save the Heavens/Sky from Queen Sectonia's conquest, who is also native to the bug clan in the heavens, and not an alien invader, though she does decide to use Popstar as an eternal source of energy to feed her at the end of the game. The seed sprouted and carried both Dedede's castle and Kirby's house into the sky. The antagonist of the game, Taranza, surprise-attacked Dedede and kidnapped him, believing him to be the Hero of the Lower World. Meanwhile, the video talking about 'alien invaders draining Popstar' would be the plot of Planet Robobot, being the same evil galactic corporation they mention in the next line. Not sure how they mixed up Planet Robobot into Triple Deluxe then still mentioned Planet Robobot separately afterwards. The point that Dedede is one of the strongest warriors of the planet is also stated in Planet Robobot. As for how that stacks up when Kirby lives on the same planet, the series tends to ignore/not factor in Kirby when making statements like these. Galacta Knight is described as the strongest warrior in the galaxy, and Meta Knight also gained that title after defeating him, even though Meta Knight has never beaten Kirby. Forgotten Land also describes how the butterfly absorbed Soul Forgo as it 'absorbing the strongest soul upon arrival', where once again, Kirby was also there at the time. Kirby himself was analyzed by Star Dream to have infinite power in Planet Robobot (Though in English they said 'near infinite power' instead at one point) (also, this is not the only time things have been stated to have infinite power, the other times being Meta Knight's sword Galaxia in a description from Super Star Ultra and the Master Crown from Return to Dream Land), and stated to have 'the power of miracles/a miraculous power' in the JP text of Forgotten Land (Translated to English as 'the bright light of Kirby's hope' or something, it's a mistranslation where they mistakenly associated another part of the sentence about Chaos Elfilis turning into a small light as still describing Kirby). 14:00 I don't remember if RPG Monger actually explained why Haltmann forgot Susie, I don't think he did. Haltmann didn't just forget Susie out of his own character flaws, Star Dream is a machine that works by interfacing with the user's mind directly, but Star Dream was an imperfect machine that Haltmann hadn't finished, so as he repeatedly tried to use Star Dream in his goal to bring his daughter back, Star Dream was slowly taking his memories for itself and deleting them from Haltmann's mind. This is how it gains sentience at the climax of Planet Robobot, and it believes that Haltmann was just an organic body it was using to study the universe. I love the music in the Kirby series. It's my favorite video game series soundtrack, alongside Touhou. By the way, the song that they played, which they only label as "VS. Astral Birth, Void", its title is actually "Suite: The Star-Conquering Traveler (Closing Movement: The Twinkling Star)". Hirokazu Ando, the Lead Sound for the Kirby series, acknowledges that he was always bad at naming his compositions (Everything would just be named things like Plains Stage, Mountain Stage, Final Boss, VS. Dark Matter, Ending, etc.), and so when Kumazaki became the director, he took on the task of naming the music tracks. Kirby music has incredibly cool-sounding, meaningful titles ever since he took over (Though until Forgotten Land started putting those names directly in the in-game music player, these music names were only found in soundtracks that usually either didn't get released internationally or had very poor translations when they were). Anyway, if you thought this song was good, I'd recommend hearing things like 'Two Planets Approach the Roche Limit' from Forgotten Land or 'Mistilteinn, Tree Crown Without a Ruler' from Return to Dream Land Deluxe.
7:36 pretty bad error, the only differences between that and what actually happens in triple deluxe is dedede is MISTAKEN for the hero of dreamland (to be fair he is the king) and popstar being drained isnt part of sectonias plan, its a part of her last ditch attempt to keep her power
Well Dedede is the hero of dream land. Kirby's from the stars. He came down on that star thing that he rides around on that I can't remember the name of right now for some reason.

Kirby was probably my first introduction to deep diving into the lore of video games for one simple question: "Why does this game make me feel... something?" It was unexplainable feelings and passion that came from overcoming these cosmic, strange, unknowable entities and the music associated with them that made me so curious and invested, but never actually took away from me just enjoying the game and seeing it as just a happy-go-lucky romp through fun environments and admittedly challenging bosses. They do such a good job about being just subtle enough with their deeper lore that it makes you curious, but only as a passing thought when playing the game.
I adore videogame OSTs, especially when the titles imply things for the characters they revolve around, or give you even more questions about them, but I especially love when they bring in leitmotifs or themes that are closely tied to the area, what’s happening, or the character. It really makes you feel close and immersed in the game. Also, a lot of videogame OSTs just go really fucking hard.
Damn. I don't know how I failed to recommend this to you. This is one of my favorite Kirby videos and I completely forgot about it. I'm very happy you decided to check this out.
My favorite thing is that king deedeedee and his whole king hood?, i think that's a word, is because, if im not mistaken, is cause one day he was just like, "Im king now" and because he basicaly fed the waddle dees they fallow him, man just gave them food and the swore loyalty and became his subjects/army
King Dedede is indeed, the strongest warrior of planet Popstar, because Kirby isn't from Popstar. The manuel guide of the first Kirby game mention Kirby as a traveller who some day came to Popstar and decided to stay there. At least for as much as I know.
Something that's common across Kirby's villains is that they often underestimate him due to his appearance, hense why Taranza targetted Dedede instead, and Susie and the Mage Sisters also wrote him off initially until they got their butts kicked. That being said Dedede is still probably like the 2nd or 3rd strongest being on Popstar, it's a toss up between him and Meta Knight. The three of them have a very anime rivalry-esque dynamic. The whole Void Termina boss theme suite is so legendary. Normally music amps up in intensity to reflect the intensity of the situation and that's what this song does too at first, but after awhile the intensity all breaks down and it gets super somber, and to me it always reminded me of like, integer overflow, like how in an old game numbers could potentially get so high that they reset back to zero, *THATS* the level of intensity being dealt with in the latter half of the song. The somberness also just fits with the tragedy of Void as a character and how it relates to Kirby. It's just a treat I love it. The way the lore works is a really great extention of the original idea the Kirby series was founded on. Masahiro Sakurai coined the phrase Kirbyism, which means a game that is easy for anybody to pick up and have a great time, but also accomodates for hardcore players who love to be challenged. It's a principle core to the Kirby series and the Smash series as well, and I think you can pretty confidently credit Sakurai for inspiring others to do the same thing with their games. Kirby's story is just like that, it's as simple or as complicated as you want to delve into, that's pretty interesting. Kirby's game design following this principle is pretty fun to analyze too. At the most basic, Kirby differs from other platformers by giving the player infinite jumps, Kirby can just fly over the level for the most part. And while most 2D platformers at the time had you lose if you got hit even once or twice, Kirby has an actual healthbar. In the beginning he could take 5 hits but now it's more like an actual healthbar with different damage values. Almost anybody could beat a game like this, but you also have the option to pick up copy abilities from enemies on the stage and learn how to play that way, and there's also the challenge modes and whatnot to try if you so choose. This all might sound like some basic game design stuff but Kirby was one of the first, if not the very first to do it like this. Kirby games are like little care packages. You get a fun main story, a lot of them also come with varying amounts of minigames and side modes to play too, you get a bunch of stuff, it's definently cozy. Definently a great game to play when you're cooped up in your house from being sick or from weather or whatnot.

Those were pretty good. Or, if you are familiar with buddhism, Solumn Sunday's "the Affairs of Passing Gods" is the lore of Rain World. The way the slug cat you play as understands none of what is happening, but you the player do, is pretty cool.
Commenting at 22:52 - I go back and listen to Xenoblade Chronicles 2's full soundtrack on a regular basis. I just put the whole thing into a playlist and let it go. The quiet songs, the hype songs, the tragic ones, all of it just brings back the journey and it keeps bringing back the emotions I felt. It's so good. Followup edit: I'm in agreement over tearing up here. It's so dang pure and bright and cheerful and I just want more of that. Also, over the years, I've gotten to a point where literally just *talking* about something that is important to me will get me to tear up sometimes. Music, a game, just a story I like, hell I don't even have to be like super attached to the thing as a whole, just a particularly good moment and I have to stop, take a breath, and then continue or I won't be able to make sense when I say anything.
Yeah. My personal favorite was the final reward for the Chains of Promathia expansion in FFXI. Overlooking the place where the trailer for the game happened 5 years ago, you finally get to hear the game's theme song, that played behind every plot important scene, with lyrics for the first time. And the fact that the lyrics fit both the characters from the story, AND the players of the game equally got me.
7:38 Technically if you think about kirby's origins in the animé where he was a monster from nightmare gone rogue, then I guess king Deedeedee is the strongest warrior in popstar.
This Kirby streak has been great! Can't wait for the Thorgi's Arcade BlazBlue Retrospective reaction, but please do check out the works of PopCross Studios(Multiverse Tales, Vigilants, Starseed Psyche) in the near future!
Anytime I listen to voids theme and hear green greens, it brings me to tears, the musical design of Kirby is a masterpiece that never fails to make me smile, hyped, and cry.
You think too much lore isn't a bad thing? Try the five nights lore. It's bad enough that it's overflowing with it. But almost everything we've learned about it isn't even confirmed. Meaning that something we've believed to be true for years could just be turned into something else in a future game. And this technically isn't retconning because most of the lore is just fan theories. 😅
Fnaf fell into the trap of forsaking its overall story for lore. Any thematic impacts of the story were bogged down for the sake of adding more lore for people to theorise about.
Fair point actually. I forgot about the FNAF lore when thinking of examples. I actually tried getting into it a long time ago as Kiwi's a huge fan of the lore, but it wasn't my cup of tea for that very reason.
I find it neat when you give a video game song to someone who is well versed in music and they'll be very close to what is going on when that song would play in game
I have a thing now with Kirby games to go into the final challenge (true arena, soul melter ex, ultimate cup z, etc) as just barebones Kirby. No ability, just Kirby. And i feel like just like with Souls games, it makes you appreciate the care and thought put behind boss attacks, and makes learning those attack patterns all the more satisfying. And i kid you not, when i landed the final blow on Void in the Soul Melter Ex mode, seeing the slow motion activate upon Kirby's last hit against Void, it smiling during its death. It winded me. Like up until that point, I grinded for hours learning that boss gauntlet, many failed attempts where victory was just within reach but one little mistake costed me. Heck, even in my clear run I was one hit away from dying. So much adrenaline... Yet all that faded when i hit that final blow. Just seeing Void struck with the tinge of sadness as he's defeated, yet that sadness is replaced with a smile (you can see this at 25:14). A smile suggesting that he's happy to be given another chance at life, one filled with friends. I don't know how the did it in like 10 seconds of animation, but Void's defeat animation moved me to tears, and it's been the only game to do that for me. God i love this series.
My favorite bit of lore is that the entire plot of Squeak Squad started because someone stole Kirby’s cake that he was about to eat. So the game is him going in a murderous rampage to get that cake back.
All of the Kirby related videos by the Designing For channel make for a well rounded deep dive into various major characters that delves into the lore of the Kirby series as a whole, and since they are in character focused chunks, there’s a little more detail to them that RPGMonger’s wide sweeping coverage of the lore. -Marx, designing for corruption -Dedede, designing for kindness (a personal favorite of mine) -Waddle Dee, designing for devotion. Setting aside Kirby specifically, Designing For’s video essays all make for great viewing experiences, so don’t hesitate to put them on your backlog for the future.

Side note, ALOT of it is made by Toby Fox, so if you like undertale you would almost certainly enjoy the music for homestuck.

Two things. First, English translations of Kirby games aren't the most accurate, especially in Star Allies. Second, there was an interview with Kumazaki where he said that the reason Void copies Kirby's face is because they were the first being it saw upon waking up. Yeah, it doesn't directly disprove their relationship with one another, but I'd thought I should state this little bit of interesting trivia.

Or, if you are familiar with buddhism, Solumn Sunday's "the Affairs of Passing Gods" is the lore of Rain World.
The way the slug cat you play as understands none of what is happening, but you the player do, is pretty cool.
7:50 Dedede was mistaken for the strongest warrior, but he is definitely the 2nd or 3rd strongest next to Meta Knight and Kirby
Yeah, pretty much. I've been following FNAF for years and by this point I'm just "chilling in the back-seat".
I’m a huge FNAF lore fanatic who still loves the lore and the games to this day, but even I can’t disagree with any of this 😅
Fnaf fell into the trap of forsaking its overall story for lore.
@@TheLegitWeebs I didn't like it either, then I watch Wendigoon explain it, and it seemed a hell of a lot better that way.
Gurren Lagann mentioned
what a legend
My drill is the drill that will pierce the heavens!
I find it neat when you give a video game song to someone who is well versed in music and they'll be very close to what is going on when that song would play in game
The fact that music can convey so much, sometimes without even saying a single word, is incredible.
Since you got no experience with Bomberman, RifeXD's "A Bomberman Journey" might be a good crash course
Designing for is criminally underrated. I can't believe after all these years, it hasn't even cracked 100,000 subs yet.
Its super funny how hard the lore goes, you wouldn't expect that if you just looked at the little pink gumball.
This makes me so happy 😁
Oh my god. Your profile. Thats so awesome that I know where that's from. 😂
Thank you, Man. More Kirby lore people need to see his videos.
Not crying im just being hit with the waves of emotion 😢❤❤
All of the Kirby related videos by the Designing For channel make for a well rounded deep dive into various major characters that delves into the lore of the Kirby series as a whole, and since they are in character focused chunks, there’s a little more detail to them that RPGMonger’s wide sweeping coverage of the lore.
-Marx, designing for corruption
-Dedede, designing for kindness (a personal favorite of mine)
-Waddle Dee, designing for devotion.
Setting aside Kirby specifically, Designing For’s video essays all make for great viewing experiences, so don’t hesitate to put them on your backlog for the future.
Wakey Wakey, Kirby Bro, New Reaction to Lore Videos Made! :D
theres also one about dedede which is just as great
Amazing video, loved watching it and seeing you really connecting to it even if not someone who played it, so i hope you can play it and watch even more kirby content
Make sure you watch the dedede focused one, its absolutely amazing
Nevermind, saw it in the playlist, for some reason it isn't letting me become a member to view it oof
You should look at the art from the director of Kirby, Shinya kumazaki, it’s so fascinating
7:52
No he gets mistaken as the warrior of Dreamland and gets kidnapped. We all know the most powerful of Popstar is Kirby.
"I know nothing of Bomberman."
Lucky for you, there's an 8-hour long video talking about every single piece of Bomberman media at the time that video was released! Ttitled: 'A Bomberman Journey.'
27:06 oh OH are you going into sonic lore next ahaha good luck my dude! here is. Tip the shows and comics are there own cannon separate from the games. Accept for sonic prime apparently
if you love soundtracks like this, have you ever considered listening to the homestuck soundtrack? its absolutely phenomenal and does an amazing job of telling the story, giving insights into how characters are and act, and just good music in general. Side note, ALOT of it is made by Toby Fox, so if you like undertale you would almost certainly enjoy the music for homestuck.
Honestly can’t wait for you to see the other ones! Marx is such a lil gremlin!
Please play some of the older kirby games, a lot of them are available on Nintendo Switch Online.
hoooo boi you NEED to take a look into sonic's lore rabbit hole. . . .idk if there's a good video about it tho
watching the cutscenes/plot of a singular game would still be nice tbh
YES!!!!!
If you want another video on the lore of kirby, id reccommend the video “the terrifying world of kirby lore” by mouthfools, a podcast channel, its explained by failboat, a very prominent creator in the kirby community
I love Kirby!
ok now look into the Dreambound Demos from Oniri Boy that stuff is amazing
Please do his king Dedede video it's so good.
EEEEE YOU'VE WATCHING DESIGNING FOR!! THEY ARE THE BEST YOU HAVE GOT TO WATCH THERE DEDEDE VIDEO!!
Can you watch A Bomberman Journey?
LETS FUCKING GO YES THANKS.
Sonic lore slaps so hard, please react to it
Especially since they finally actually properly tried to connect it all into one story
Hey, how do lore recommendations work? Do I just comment a video here? Because I'd really like more people to experience Sekiro lore.
Feel free to leave the title and creator of the video in the comments (no links else yt will delete the comment)! I usually comb through them when I can. I can say though that Sekiro is planned. Will likely start with Vaati's videos on it.
@@TheLegitWeebs Creepling and Smoughtown are good creators for it too. Though, as usual, Vaati is the best starting point. Starting off with his "Explaining the first half of Sekiro" video first.
Don't worry about my channel. Nothing sus here.
I don't know if you'll read this but is there any chance you could react to Game Theory: Mega Man has doomed Humanity?
It's not currently on my list of things to check out, but if someday I decide to do a deep dive on MegaMan lore then perhaps I might.
@@TheLegitWeebs Ok.
ok but league of legends lore is actually pretty great :)
Agreed. The universe and characters are fantastic.
