I just soldered a wire to the buss bar on the bulb holder, ran it out the vent hole, then connected with a spade connector. Also, pretty sure mk2’s are aluminum and won’t rust.
Great video, made my life allot easier, took no time at all following your tips. 💯 great idea to recommend and the plastic trip pry’s, bought a set off Amazon and saved a ton of effort to remove the trim and the light. I did end up buying a ch!nese brake light as that is all they sell on Amazon these days. Wish me luck, probably going to fail sometime soon but it works for now.
Yes I’ve read about this, the grounding wire I installed is almost double the thickness to the original harness. If I ever have issues again I’m gonna go to LED’s anyways and do the resistors and better grounding, but power mods first 🤪

Late to the game but there is a ground mod that will increase the longevity (perhaps forever) of your tail lights.
