The actors portraying Captain Jason Dahl and FO Leroy Homer are real life commercial airline pilots themselves. Paul Greengrass wanted absolute realism when he made United 93, so the actors playing the role of crew members, ATC, and military personnel were all real life professionals.

Navel Lover And to make it even more realistic some of the ‘actors’ including Ben Slinney and those in the control tower actually worked on the day 9/11 occurred.

Yeah pretty much everyone in this movie were actual aviation/military professionals and not actors. Great move in my opinion. You probably already know this but Ben Sliney actually plays himself - he was a consultant on the production crew and did a stand-in reading some of his character's lines, and long story short he did so well they decided to cast him as himself.

I love it too, I don’t remember this dream very well but; all I could remember was looking back at Ziad whilst United 93 was taking off thinking “We’ve done it!” Little did I know that I would fall in love with him during the hijacking of United 93. I was hoping that Ziad would give everyone the good ending but, he sadly didn’t have enough time to land; me and Ziad were the only survivors of United 93’s crash because I slowed the plane down just in time

This just might be one of the most accurately portrayed aviation scenes in movies. I'm glad that they showed details like the walkaround and ATC conversations. Only a few issues I found: On the ATC scope the ICAO code of the airline is shown so it would be not UA93 but UAL93, also in the last outside shot they shot an A320 for some reason even though all the previous ones were correct with the 757

One more: their taxi clearance was “BRAVO, ROMEOBRAVO, VICTOR” which does make sense for runway 4L, but the ground radar a few seconds later showed them taxiing on ALPHA past their turnoff to ROMEOBRAVO.

United 93 had hands down the most realistic aviation scenes due to the fact that everyone involved in the film portraying the pilots, flight attendants, and ATC are real life professionals. Couple of the actresses portraying the flight attendants are actual United Airlines flight attendants, while the actor who played the part of Captain Dahl is also a United Airlines pilot in real life. Paul Greengrass did not prepared a script for those parts, he simply told the actors to do what they're trained to do and follow UA policies just like the actual Flight 93 crew would've done.

All the flight attendants and pilots in this movie are portrayed by real life airline crew members, some even worked or were working for United Airlines when the movie was made. Ben Sliney, the ATC regional supervisor, portrayed himself. All in all, United 93 is possibly the most realistic movie made about commercial airlines.

Luke Williams .... True, everything was on point, every detail was portrayed accurately, the whole sequence of events during preflight EXCEPT for the knocking on cockpit door code. Before 9/11 flight attendants had a key to unlock the cockpit door thus no knocking was required. However there was a code you had to use before entering the cockpit only if a hijacking was in progress during flight and the hijacker forcebly wanted to enter the cockpit at any cost.

couple things that are real. For one, when pilots go outside for their walk around, they are required by the FAA to wear a reflection vest and earplugs to protect their ears. And another thing I noticed was when the plane was lined up on the runway, the flaps were not deployed. The flaps are usually already deployed during taxi. And on the tower view of the departure, it showed an Airbus A320 instead of a Boeing 757

    • @EC-oe9bv

False, requiring pilots to wear vests is a fairly new thing in US, most companies only started requiring them after 2018. Earplugs are also optional, not required.

United 93 is the only 9/11 movie that gave me proper nightmares. I always hoped that redeeming Ziad would make it into landing United 93 but Saeed sadly overpowered him in the last minute causing me, Ziad and the 37 surging passengers to be severely hurt. Our fates were revealed when the movie resumed from it cutting to black after United 93 crashed and we were all surprised to survive after Saeed put United 93 into an intense nosedive causing me to get trapped underneath the cockpit peddles with my ankle caught in them leaving it broken. After United 93’s tragedy, I reminded in a coma for days falling unconscious after Ziad literally saves my life and he continued seeing me in hospital after I woken up remembering exactly what happened because I was having nightmares about being back on the plane whilst I recovered fully. Those dreams just kept getting so intense that i could not rewatch the movie for a while

And then you missed the flight.
You'd go home, mad, even aggravated. You put your coat on the couch, and start to watch TV.
"..And we have unconfirmed reports this morning of a plane crashing into the World Trade Center."
What? You turn off the TV and call your mom. She already knows. She lives in Islip. You think, "Heck, it was an accident." You call United Airlines Reception, asking for a refund. Minutes later, you get a refund. You turn on the TV again. Still crap about the tower being hit. When suddenly, you see what looks like a jet crossing the sky. You are silent. You see a giant fireball coming out of the building. You scream. This wasn't an accident. This was on purpose. The TV starts going on about the Pentagon being hit. "..It appears that something hit the Pentagon on the outside of the fifth corridor, the south corridor..." The Pentagon? Christ.
You decide to turn off the TV and calm down. When suddenly, you hear a huge explosion outside your window. You rush out your small, Shanksville home. You call your mother, telling her that there was a large explosion outside. You follow the large smoke cloud, for a little bit, before reaching a huge crater. Police are there. You remember seeing some suspicious people while checking in. Like, super suspicious people. You dismiss this. You ask an officer what the hell crashed.
"Well, we don't know. We think its *United Airlines Flight 93*. You gasp. That was your flight. It was the same flight. You call your mother that Flight 93 crashed, and you were almost on the flight,

Don't the pilots usually wear their hats and a hi-vis jacket whilst doing their checks around the outside of the aircraft?

    • @EC-oe9bv
      @EC-oe9bv 5 лет назад +2

If its warm, hats get in the way, and you risk them getting dirty when you check the landing gear bays, or if the lav (toilet) is leaking a bit (ew). Ill wear my hat if its cold, but ill just be more careful. This happened on a warm day, so they wouldn't have worn a hat. The hi-vis jackets are a bit of a new thing here in the US, pilots at my company weren't required to wear them until this year (2018). This sequence is EXTREMELY accurate, so much so it's unsettling. If I were to nitpick, the walk around may be a little out of order, but other than that, this is what start of the day operations look and sound like, even the conversation as they're walking onto the plane is accurate.

Most airlines don't keep a particular livery for more than 10-20 years. It's now 17 years later, and since then United has changed its livery twice, most recently with their merger with Continental about 6 years ago.

Navel Lover yes that’s true. I’ll add that when the companies merged the only difference was united painted a united logo on old continental aircraft so they didn’t have to buy all new aircraft or destroy the paint on each aircraft one by one a repaint them one by one, a process that could take years to complete.
