    You are getting up to the end of the trail. Very remote backcountry. Lots of alpine lakes. Unlike the southern part of WA, the northern cascades were purposely not built up. But I envy your alpine views. Thanks for posting.

    I just finished NOBO JMT. I exited Sept 3rd just in front of the terrible Creek Fire start. Im having post hike withdrawals and all California’s forests are closed so my planned day hiking is not happening, making it worse.
    I’ve been waiting for this video! Your strategy to execute the PCT was very ambitious for your first, but smart to get to Canada before the storms. I hope you have clear skies for the last 80 miles. Your videos are a good balance of scenery and personal perspective of the hike itself. I have enjoyed them.
    The last stretch will be bittersweet I’m sure.

    Those broken bridges were scary. I would've been scared to death to try to cross them.

    So much to like about this episode! Catch a positive attitude and pass it on! 🤗 Welcome to the jungle! 🤣 It's bittersweet as you near the end. So glad to hear you'll do some follow up videos. You've been so dialed in the whole way. Please share your wisdom, gear, resupply strategy, what you ate, etc. It will be so helpful to those of us planning our own PCT adventures. As you know I've been nothing but impressed with how you've tackled this challenge! Energizer is a true badass!

    You're not done with the over-grown trails, yet. The 2-3 miles either side of Brush Creek (between the Methow River crossing and Glacier Pass) have MILES of overgrown trails. But for the pandemic, I'm sure the trail maintenance crews would have cleared it by now. I've been enjoying the videos. Thanks for taking the time and effort. I appreciate it.

    Congratulations Mike ! You and your videos are AWESOME. My question is after hiking 20 to 25 miles in a day; what regime did you have at camp to stretch or release tense muscles? Hope you plan a future vlog project!

    Yay!!! So great to see you finishing up your last miles-what an amazing through hike-and hiker!!! Like everyone else, have grown to look forward to the vlog and will miss being able to be taken along for the ride😊...

    Possibly the overgrown trail is at least partially because of Covid. Less people going through. Less trail coming out and working together.

    So happy to see you today, but I’m quite sure that your journey has been completed by now. I want to thank you for every video ....I have enjoyed them from the beginning to what will be the end. Every morning I get up and look to see if you have posted. As you complete your journey, I will miss seeing the awesome views but will go back from time to time to review them. It feels as if I know you. Awesome trip, so thrilled for you. I am sure your beautiful wife will be happy to have you back home........just wondering what you will be feeling after completion of the journey, will you feel like you can rest/relax or what. If you could comment on that on your next vlog it would be interesting to know your thoughts.

    What did the Silverback Marmot say to the Mountain Grouse? . . . "It's a great day!"
    Some hikers only accompany their videos showing the sights with a more or less appropriate musical score. Others can articulate a personal journey going on astride their footsteps. Thanks for that, Mike -- and stay curious!

    Wonderful video and wonderful story. I plan the PCT in 2023 and your videos are very helpful. I saw that you had a Versalite sleeping bag and that you switched now to a Quilt. Would you recommend for the PCT a quilt or a sleeping bag? Thank you

    • @oldmanandtheat3093
      @oldmanandtheat3093  2 года назад +1

      The WM Versatile was the best bag for the PCT. If you want, you could switch to something lighter for the section between northern California through mid Washington. I switched to a quilt for the AT because the temperatures on that trail do not experience the same extremes as the PCT.

    I hope that overgrown section of the trail didn't have any poison oak

    • @oldmanandtheat3093
      @oldmanandtheat3093  4 года назад

      Thankfully, it didn't. I didn't have any issues with poison oak. The trail stays above 4000 feet most of the time where the plant doesn't grow. For the areas where poison oak was prevalent, I wore my rain gear.
