CONGRATS! Questions for you: 1. How much did your pack weigh when you left Campo: 2. How much did it weigh when you entered the Sierra: 3. How much did it weigh when you reached the Northern Terminus: 4. What kind of a knee brace did you use? Thanks so much for your inspiration to us "seasoned citizens"!
What an amazing video series. You are such an inspiration, especially to me! I’m ex NAVY so first and for-most “Thank you for your service”! The PCT has been on my bucket list for many years. While I have accomplished many things in my life, I feel like I’m missing something. I turn 50 yrs old in two years and have started planning my journey. I feel doing the PCT will full-fill what I’m missing. Watching you has given me so much encouragement. I have watched many PCT videos and yours has just touched me in a way I can’t explain. Thank you so much for taking time to vlog your journey and as always “IT"S A GREAT DAY”!
Wow what a momentous day for you and who you got to share it with. Congrats on meeting your goal and having such a spectacular end to an amazing adventure. But I know it’s a bitter sweet moment. You have a great reason to feel proud to do something not many are able to do. Thank you so much for sharing this with us and keeping it positive and real.
Mike, through your videos we hiked the 2,650 miles at your side these many months. I was likely not the only follower to find themselves a bit watery eyed as you reached the end of your PCT thru-hike at the northern terminus. Well done, “Energizer”. Well done, “Old Man and the PCT 2020”.--Al
Mike, my sincerest congratulations on your PCT Thru Hike. I would also like you to know, I have watched every video of your CDT, AT, and PCT hikes. Thank you for taking me on your journeys.
G'day from Australia, Awesome!! Super congrats 💐 your intro music was spot on, your adlib recount of your days flawless, your honesty much appreciated, your focus and pace very impressive. Reason #6 to vlogg your epic adventure, is so you can relive the highs and lows, as folk comment in years to come. Thanks for allowing us to come along for the adventure 👏👏
Thank you so much! My wife and I watched all of your videos, followed you on your trail, and in a way we felt like we were hiking the PCT. You are a wonderfull and inspiring person! Thank you and shalom from Israel.
Absolutely incredible......great job.......understand all the emotions you are having.......the conclusion is a bag of different emotions. You are truly an individual with purpose. I greatly admire you and have loved coming along on your journey. God bless you! Thank you for each and every video......I am sure I will go back and take the journey with you again as I am elderly and love all of them.
Congrats Old Energizer Man! I'm a Brazilian guy, i have 55 yo, and a need to Thank You! Thank you for share your experience, for inspire us a realize our own journey, for give us a little bit of joys for take the journey with you!
Thanks for all the effort you put in making these videos. I've enjoyed your perspective on the PCT. Looking forward to the gear and lessons learned videos.
Congratulations on completing your thru hike. My and I enjoyed every minute you shared with us and all that you spoke to. My wife and I dreamed of hiking together in our later years and unfortunately that will not happen as she was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer’s five years ago. We watched your hike together and though she is not able to communicate well, I could tell she enjoyed seeing all that you shared, thank you for that. Look forward to seeing your next videos😊
Thanks for sharing! Greatly appreciated going along for the ride as it were. Question: What is most important and valuable of all that you have experienced and learned on your through hike. Same thing applies to life I imagine. Looking forward to the last two installments. Yes, it is a good day. Life is an awesome opportunity. It is a great gift from you to remind anyone that is listening. :-)
Hope you enjoyed the journey. The simplicity and beauty of the trail is hard to replicate in life. Thanks for packing us along hope we didn't weigh to much. 👍👍👍
Appreciate your time and reasons for doing the vlogs, this was a great one! The analogy’s were fun to hear and spot on. Loved the encouragement to get out and see for yourself, “live life”. Look forward to follow up vlogs!
Congratulations!! What an amazing achievement!! I will definitely be missing your vlogs on the trail . Hoping you’ll vlog your next adventure. Bitter sweet 🤙 Take care Mike and enjoy your family:) Thanks for taking us along...
Congratulations, I fall under the category of hiking last year (2019), vlogging everyday, uploading and editing while on trail but getting hurt in the glacier peak wilderness after flipping due to the snow levels. I agree not many vlog in our age group so cheers to you! You crushes it this year! Congrats.. Marmalade
Well done, Sir! "Short timer" - that made me laugh out loud! I haven't heard that term since 1970 when I was one! I hope we get to see you on the trail again.
Congratulations. I have been watching your videos from the beginning and have enjoyed them. Not a hiker, but I have a thru hiker on the trail, She will finish soon. So proud of her. Also very glad to have shared you journey as well.
Congratulations, Mike! For anyone who is physically able, your videos are a master class in how to plan, prepare, and execute a thru hike. Those who aren't physically able to do it in a single year, can also learn what they need. Very, very impressive hike and amazing videos. My wife and followed them all the way.
Congratulations Energizer! Glad I got to spend a little time with you on the trail. Totally agree with your comments about the “false narrative” from certain organizations (I’ll say it for you, the PCTA). If they really cared about the trail and the trail towns they would get out there and talk to the town people that support and our supported by the hikers! I felt nothing but support from all the trail towns - many were struggling financially because of all the restrictions this year. They were so happy to see a few of us hikers this year!!!
We just loved your videos. This year we had to sit out backpacking due to my knee injuries and watching you hike was a way for my husband and I to enjoy the trail virtually. We are 66 and 74 and still getting the miles in. Keep hiking !
Really appreciate your insites and the way you filmed, showing the trail. (Hubby comment) I cant think of a question most of my wondering is answered. Genuinely happy for you for this accomplishment. With all the honor and pride of following your guidelines. A wonderful inspiration to those who follow. Congrats Energizer who now known as mike.
Congratulations. Truly enjoyed your trek for the last 4 months. Thank you so much for having us along and including the bonus epilogue. I hope your transition back to normal life goes well. Take care.
Congratulations, from one old man to another. Having only recently discovered your videos, they've been a recent staple (a few at a time) of my viewing while on the treadmill. Please tell us more about your resupply strategy, and what foods you carried, given your rule of only hiking, and avoiding rides and hitching (which I like).
It’s a Great day Mike. Thanks so much. I hope to celebrate my 75th next year on the JMT. Here is a question, what do you think you will have spent when it is all over? Peace, you have become a friend, Herb, Rochester, NY
Excellent video! Congratulations on your accomplishment. What an incredible adventure you had. I have hiked all of California and Oregon and I am looking forward to hiking Washington and fishing the PCT.
Congratulations!!! Question: Did you see anyone hammock major portions of the trail? Would it be feasible ? Tarp camp where you could not hang.? Thanks for sharing your journey and yourself!
Well done! I’m impressed with how fast you knocked out one of the toughest and majestic trails in the USA. Congratulations!! I hope you continue to hike on!
Nice work Mike, enjoyed your journey. As a thru hiker (not this year) I appreciated everything you presented, thank you for caring and sharing. Enjoy your at home comforts and calories!! Sorry we don't have great air quality for your return due to the fires.
Congrats: Really enjoyed the journey. You are a great man of integrity and I came through in your videos. Thank you for making many of my days and thank you for your service to our great country!
Congratulations what a amazing journey. You’re an inspiration as a retired Air Force. I salute you. I have so many questions that I would like to ask I’m retiring from the DOD program in 2026. I am planning a 2027 trip. I have to watch your last two videos, and hopefully those will answer some questions but thank you for sharing. God bless you and your family.
Mission accomplished! I've smiled the whole way through and you represented our age demographic impressively! My question: did you prep all resupply boxes in advance and where they'd be sent or did your support team prep and mail boxes as you determined where you'd be? And, if this had not been a covid year would you have done it differently and how? Thank you for sharing Energizer's Epic Journey! Loved every minute.
Congrats Mike! Thank you for your efforts making these videos. The PCT was always something I had hoped to accomplish in my youth but could not afford to do so. Now I am quickly approaching 50 and have been inspired by your journey to try and make it happen. Whats next...CDT...AT...Maybe a Triple Crown? If so, I will be tuning in! Thanks again
First of all.... LOVED, LOVED, LOVED your videos!!! “It’s a great day”... is stuck in our heads and we laugh every time 🤣. We just did the 13 mile section of PCT from Echo Lake to Lake Aloha. Not sure how u did it with your big pack. Those loose rocks are challenging. Which brings me to my first question. How did you hurt your knee and keep going? Didn’t it just get worse? Also, what food and drink did you miss most on the trail? How did you keep your phone/camera charged when you were on trail? Lastly, you are an inspiration with your positive attitude. My husband(57 and Active Duty) and I(51 prior Army nurse) would like to do the PCT someday and you just motivated us to get on it. Thanks for the encouragement!
Well done Mike. With you all the way. Doing a daily video would be great but not doable when knocking out the miles you have. My question: Do we see a potential Triple Crowner here? I think the AT would be a different challenge for you as it is so different from the PCT. Thanks for the ride. Look forward to your next video and adventure.
Great videos, and I especially like your music choice when you reached the border! I am in you age demographic and I know MY DAY WILL COME to start the same journey
Energizer, WAY!!! 2 GO!!! AS I continue on the mend I have enjoyed following you! from start to finish.. The "Old Man" thing gotts to go, As I have said before, there is nothing Old Man about you.. Congrats and even I got a bit emotional at your finish.. No one will ever be able to take your title away.. PCT 2020 finisher and Isn't it Ironic on this day of remembrance 9/11.....
Once again I would like to thank you for taking me along with you on your journey. You have been a great distraction for me. With COVID and other health issues going on this year I have felt like I enjoying the trail. Sitting here right now waiting to hear if our cabin makes it through the Creek Fire. It’s close to Mammoth Pools and not sure if any of our favorite trails will even be left. Congratulations and looking forward to wrap up videos
Congratulations from Sweden. I take my hat off for a flawless accomplishment, including planning, execution, vlogging and truly well-grounded comments from your side. Thank you for taking everyone along on your journey. Q. 1) In your preparation with regards to knowledge about the trail, what was your main source of information? 2) Some people have more sensitive feet than others, which means that socks and shoes are extremely important for a thrue-hike - can you please elaborate on that issue? 3) Being that efficient as you were, can you please comment on how your daily schedule looked like, from wake up to bedtime? 4) Since your mileage coverage was great, how did change in altitude effect you? Again, thank you for taking the time to do the vlogging.
Your video makes me want to hike. Watched all of them while cooking and during mealtimes. 😊 Idlewild California was a nice town. We rented a cabin back in July.
Excellent!! Well done. I thoroughly enjoyed following along during your journey. Also, I sincerely appreciate the thoughtful comments in your epilogue. I was one of those hikers, an early March starter, that left the trail at the initial prompting. Like others watching the situation and unsure how to best move forward, I was unable to mentally commit to going back to the trail early enough. I am sure now that if my start date was mid-May, I would have jumped on trail and maybe had a chance to hike along with you for 5 minutes as you flew by! The trail will be there waiting. I would welcome a chance to join you someday on another hike. Snocone, Santa Barbara, Class of 2017 and 2020
Man, really enjoyed your journey. First, thanks for your service to our country. Means a lot to me! Appreciate your humble approach and grateful attitude. Lastly, you killed it! Man oh man, you covered some ground! Blessings
I’m late to the party but just wanted to say congratulations to you on your accomplishment. Just finished binge watching your adventures. Really enjoyed the show. Ever consider going for the triple crown?
Congratulations! I will be watching your last two videos with interest as I plan on hiking the AT when I retire in 2029 at 62. So glad Darwin on the trail inspired you to make your videos, you did a great job! Questions; How much did you worry about injury on the trail, and prevention? Did you ever consider quitting and how did you stay motivated?
Congratulations Mike! We were peeling onions on this end we so happy for you. We could hear it in your voice & see it in your eyes how much this meant too you. Loved the straight talk in each vlog and the way you were able to overcome and adapt to the challenges of the pct. Q: Let us silver citizens know the toll the trail took on your body and if you had loss weight. So proud of you. Cheers!
Loved your Vlogs and the music choices. Daily waited for updates. Followed you since the beginning preps, the disappointment of delay, and the enthusiasm for starting in Campo. You, an 'old man' are in inspiration for everyone else who considers themselves 'old'. Your summary was a great windup of an epic journey. Can relate to the feeling of Finally It Is Over, and NOT wanting it to be done...and why not just keep walking north through Canada, if it were allowed. Time to begin planning your next journey, after all..."IT'S A GREAT DAY"! Thank you for sharing.
Congratulations on your thruhike, and thanks for the videos! I hiked the PCT in 1998 and your videos bring back so many memories. Not just the images, but your comments and thoughts were at least as important.
Congrats walking man. You’re a gentleman. Loved having my morning coffee and following you on trail. A question: would you discuss the nutrition aspect of the hike. Thanks!! Dave in Cincinnati
Congratulations from Austria. If I decide to walk the PCT some day, I have no doubt that I can't be wrong when using your videos as a guideline to prepare for such an adventure. Enjoyed each of your great videos and the fantastic intro song.
Congratulations Mike!! We have been following you from the beginning, as a preview, and preparation, for my attempt in 2022. We have enjoyed your videos, both from the informational side, as well as "real life" side, or the ups and downs (sorry for the pun). QUESTION: Knowing what you know now about the abuse to your body (primarily your legs) would you recommend wearing some kind of a knee brace/support during the steep downhill sections? Thank you again, for taking us along with you on your AMAZING journey!
Congratulations and thank you for taking us along! I grew up in California and did my first hikes in the Sierra's. Now live in Warshington in the great Pacific Northwet, so know the north Cascades pretty well. You did an amazing job both on the hike and the videos. You did great all the time. You shared it with your family and all of us. I am a bit older, but am inspired. What an amazing accomplishment! What was the hardest part? Physical, emotional, spiritual? Happy and sad with you.
Congrats Mike !!! An awesome accomplishment !! You can be very proud! Thank you SO much for taking us along. We all learned a lot from your videos, with your great insight and perspective. Question..... What was your pre hike physical training program, which allowed you to hit the trail at Campo and immediately knock out high mile days?? Wow, I was totally blown away with your miles each day, efficiency minimizing off trail time, and organization of the whole experience. You always seemed to have the whole trip under control. That showed in the sub 120 day hike!! Truly, an amazing accomplishment!! I am planning a PCT thru hike next year, using your hike as the ‘model’. Looking forward to your next two videos, gear review and lessons learned. Most kind regards from Michigan !
You killed it on the hike and nailed it on this video. Looking forward to the last two vids. Congratulations.

Great work all along the trail. I truly enjoyed your journey. I was wondering about food/calories and how much weight you lost/gained on your trip?
Thank you so much for sharing! I have enjoyed watching your journey. How did you train to prepare yourself physically for this hike?
Your video makes me want to hike. Watched all of them while cooking and during mealtimes. 😊
Idlewild California was a nice town. We rented a cabin back in July.

I’m late to the party but just wanted to say congratulations to you on your accomplishment. Just finished binge watching your adventures. Really enjoyed the show. Ever consider going for the triple crown?
Congratulations on your making to Canada. I enjoyed the video's. Thanks!
Cheers!
It’s been awesome watching your journey you have been very inspiring thanks so much for sharing
Congratulations! CDT next year?
Congratulations. I haven’t had a chance to watch the video yet, but look forward to doing so. Thank you for sharing your trek.
I am a native of Western WA and will never see some of the sights of my beautiful state that you did. Thank you for showing them to me!
Congratulations from Austria. If I decide to walk the PCT some day, I have no doubt that I can't be wrong when using your videos as a guideline to prepare for such an adventure. Enjoyed each of your great videos and the fantastic intro song.
Congratulations, and thank you for sharing your journey with us!!
Thank you 🙏 so much for sharing❣️🍀
Good job 👏 I wish I was in a position to hike the PCT. Your videos are appreciated.
Congrats Mike! It was a pleasure following your hike. You crushed it!
