Thanks to @GameBreakerGod incredible gaming ability, we've discovered that Wuthering Waves not only has Switch Tech available in the game, but we now can see it has BOTH Negative Edge & Kara Cancels! Those are fighting game terms that I explain in the video for you to understand, but what's more important is the newfound applications that exists in the game now thanks to these hidden mechanics being discovered! Have fun figuring things out. When I realised how the swapping in this game worked I knew this game had huge depth. There's a lot more possibilities with team comps because of it, and characters that might seem weak on paper can end up working really well.

Cool Tech: if you hold attack while plunging and swap characters right as the plunge lands (without letting go of attack), the new character will heavy attack without charging

Jiyans ult can be swap cancelled as well. The heavy attacks during it take so long to do that you can really easily swap cancel and still get all the damage.

Responding to the comment at 7:40, there is a "training mode" or target practice in WuWa.
There is a flower field at coordinates -962,1099,69 just West/South-West of Loong's Gaze Suburbs, which is West of Jinzhou.
You talk to the NPC named Hua Lielang there to spar with him. He cannot, however, be knocked into the air.
Can confirm! Maybe not the best training dummy, but its something to work with
Wuwa is sick man, and the release of more characters just means new combos and tech. This adds a whole other layer of a new character's release capabilities.
I'm not gonna lie, I was slightly ticked off. I'm glad this is being talked about especially from a fighting game perspective as well, but the comment that "no one found this tech except gbg" got me like "I legit been found this and even made a whole combo video on it in the CBT, youtube sucks." Encore stomp tech is so untouched. She can stomp cancel her resonance skill and so many other moves!
That's not a tech, that's how it's meant to be used
@@nolanfarley9195 I mean the skill cap means it’s tech to me. The notation on your controller shows that it’s different inputs you have to learn to play her right in comparison to other dps, (no one else has as many cancelable combo routes into stomp), that sounds like tech to me.

@@nolanfarley9195 I’m not saying it is just an Encore thing, but it’s super important for her to learn in particular. A lot is weird about her. For something to be considered tech does it have to be a unique mechanic or bug, or can it just be an integral over exploitable part of their kit that changes up gameplay between casuals and hardcores?

An easy beginner tech is to jump in the air with Jiyan, do an air attack and the switch to a ranged character (Jiyan will continue to do the attack), basic attack in the air with the ranged character around 4 times, then switch back to Jiyan (you should still be in the air) and air attack a second time.
This works because Jiyan gains height when he air attacks, and moves to the enemy instead of falling straight down, and ranged characters cause you to fall slower when they air attack. As far as I can tell, this isn't infinite.
There's actually a tanky exile you can spar against in wuwa! He's located in Loong's Gaze Suburbs, south of a small lake, in a circular flower field
This is an actual THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING moment. Like this is literally a game changer

@@jamess359 There is. You can also move the buttons to anywhere on the screen in the settings.
MOVE THE BUTTONS to the left side! You should have the character select and the two resonance buttons by your left thumb. Only jump and dodge needs to stay on the right side. I should make a video on this.
@@Lybrel there isnt controller support when using mobile least not how normally works where could pair to phone and it counts the controller, controller works on PC. Moving the buttons doesn't necessarily help since will be fighting for screen space and the main issue is moving the camera is not that great on mobile
Love your enthusiasm. I am just coming from gbf relink and there was some cool tech there but nothing on the level of versus or other fighting games. It's awesome that this game is bringing in mechanics from fighting/combo games. It's a whole new audience that can get excited.

I've been doing this since i got the game, purely by accident btw. i never watched guides so i didn't get forced into thinking of the game in simple rotations, battle is always evolving, i try react to whats happening around me, the more decisions i make the higher my damage goes. This is really interesting and I'll be looking forward to learning more about it as you keep sharing your findings. I do wonder if it'll be feasible on mobile, since holding down attack while pressing jump (as an example) is not exactly easy to do. Perhaps if they let us customize the button layout (if this setting exists then I haven't looked well enough since I haven't needed it so far) it'll help out with any crazy combos you guys come up with.
If you cant hear the sound cue you can also time it so you jump at the same time as the upper slash hits

I'm so glad a channel like yours exist, I don't know much about fighting games so all these terms are new to me but they're very interesting and I'm eager to learn more.This certainly makes wuwa much more fun. Its great that devs decided to balance the game by practically taking away deepen buff from switch spam rather than taking away the combos, hopefully that trend continues.
First vid I've seen from you, easy sub. Very cool to get a perspective on this game from someone that is used to more technical combat. Most Wuwa videos are just from general gacha creators on resource optimization, this is actual fresh tech from what I've seen. Good stuff man

As a not a fighting game player I actually noticed this kept happening when I switched from Jiyan to Rover and I just always assumed there was a mechanic I wasn't aware of and I told myself I'd read into it later but this is probably what was happening and it's amazing to finally understand that.

One question: this works even if i'm playing with high ping? Like in my region the ping is always like 150+ ping,i can play normally without any issue, but this type of combos works with medium or high ping?
Cancels and juggle states are really important in fighting game and games like Devil May Cry or Bayonetta, I had the feeling we could do this unfortunately i'm not skilled enough and my ping is horrible to go that far but i'm glad you confirmed WuWa's combat system allow deep mechanics like that.
Like in fighting game routing that deals the biggest damages doesn't necessarily lead to victory but routing that give you an advantage or prevent your opponent from being able to act does

Iyo teaching us about "thrusting" and negative "edging" got me feeling some type of way
Iyo can I make a request, and I'm sure even w/o this request you would still do it anyways, but once Yinlin comes out can you see if she can be viable for any combo or tech that we currently have or will there be something different for her? I was initially planning to pull for her and use as a buffer for Calcharo and be a sub-dps, but now that's out of the window due to fact that outro skill buff effects were changed and playing her as main DPS seems the way to go now.
0:25 Looks like a true combo and a amazing way to juggle.Launchers into Dmg , Jinyan/ Dragon Man then to keep the combo going. Mortfi use his guns to juggling the enemy not allow the enemy to attack while adding more dmg.

as someone who played Videl in dbfz for a long time, im excited to see how far we can push this games combat. I didnt even think to try tech like what i saw in this video and it just makes me hopeful for future characters so we can try more combos
this is really interesting ngl. almost makes me wanna pull jiyan for the air combos with yangyang lmaoo, but hopefully yinlin has these kinds of things as well! definitely gonna practice with some characters and see what ends up working. this is the kind of combat ive been wanting to see in wuwa.
As someone with a fgc background this helped a lot with the fgc terminology
Good vid! Just explaining some of the fighting terms a bit more would help ie tek etc etc. Also i see this more niche as you can't launch bosses which imo are harder to beat. Overworld/ tower and illusion realm mobs are easy to stomp with simple rotations, dodging etc
i feel like you would have alot of fun doing these sort of combos with lingyang or jianwu , they have crazy inputs you can try out and take advantage of

Exactly. I don’t think he could dumb the concepts down any further. It’s going to require a lot of practice and trial and error to figure out optimal techs. The fact that we can do some is crazy enough. Big problem in this game is the awful camera though. It really bugs out.

I'm not even sure what the sound he was talking about was, if it was the very obvious slashing sound that starts or if there is a more subtle sound I'm missing
Some of this won't work on Large enemies/bosses.
Launcher canceling probably won't matter but the negative edge might be useful for switching.
u don't juggle bosses, u time parry dodge and counter for styling in them
u only juggle on small mid mobs

Also you can animation cancel a lot in this game and I’ve never heard anyone talk about it. I’m a lol player and instantly tried it and on calcharo it works really well.
Negative edge sounds like input buffering in League.
You play a ranged a character, you click on the enemy first when you are out of range and then Flash after so that the game does the auto immediately when its in range

I understand that this maybe a noob question, but are all these combos possible on mouse and keyboard? Or even harder, on mobile?
This was removed as of 06/06/2024. Yinlin killed outro buffs staying on when you change character control. How we feelin?
Both of these mechanics are still in the game. Yinlin arriving didn’t do anything to them. The outro skill change has been here since launch.

as a disabled gamer with use of only one hand and cleared most of the content in the game atm working on the holo fight 's difficulty 4 at time's dodging don't work even if you timed it right also i some time cancel a move and didn't mean to but end up working out but lately haven't been using Jiyan at all mostly just Havoc rover and Verina cause there intro/outro skills seam to work really well together have Mortifei at S2 but have not got to building him since i been doing well with what i have at union 36 atm also unlocked tower's real end game as well i find this combo thing/tech handy thinking of trying it out

I figured this out with Rover the other day. I was able to do the combo that launches them and then I pressed the dash button and it did the same thing. My friend's were like, "How are you stun locking them like that??" I didn't know it was a big deal. XD

I just tried the cancel tech for jiyan on mobile, it’s actually pretty easy if you just focus
swapping def made the combat way more versatile, beat things easily that were difficult to beat before it got discovered

I need full on tech and combo guides for each character you figure out. I’d much prefer to implement higher skill ceiling gameplay over button mashing for optimal rotations

This brings me back to Tekken days when I had to play a character over and over learning sound and visual queues along with the combos. Can't wait to see what else people can find in this game. I just hope that developers don't say that they are not part of the game mechanics and remove the ability to do them.

I wonder if jump cancelling will be figured out so you can do infinite juggling. It would be cool if they added a style system and combo count.
