JAPANESE F1 fans DISAPPOINTED!

- Why did many Japanese F1 fans leave disapointed today? Allow me to explain everything that happened behind the scenes during practice at the 2024 Japanese GP at the Suzuka F1 circuit. Today was not only a frustrating day for many Japanese f1 fans though as there was Logan Sargeant's Suzuka crash as well that I am sure the American F1 driver would not have been pleased with. There was also the horrible Suzuka weather during the Japanese GP FP2 session that resulted in a lot of cars only going out for 1 lap. Allow me to explain everything that happened behind the scenes here in Suzuka at day 2 of the Japanese F1 GP.

Kym love those Cherry Blossom shots! Can’t wait to see those (hopefully signed) on your website. Thanks for bringing great coverage. Hugs from Vegas!
Thanks Kym really appreciate your behind the scenes videos
Glad you like them!
Just wanted to pass along that I purchased one of your photos (Nico at ‘23 Bahrain) for my wife’s birthday and she loved it…really appreciate your insights and artistry with the camera…thank you Kym!
Glad to hear it!
I’m guessing your sense of humour is as vital as some of your camera gear, I honestly think it gets you interactions where others fail! 👏👍😀
Please do more food reviews in japan. We alll think the vending machine culture is fascinating, would you do some more Japanese food reviews to cover Japanese sweet omelettes and rice wine ?
Sounds interesting.
Couple of corrections Kym. Charles' jeans are Off White/Virgil Abloh although they do look similar to Nahmias. Also, the tribute helmet is for Jules Bianchi who had his accident in Japan but was in a coma for several months and died in hospital. Did not die on the track. Also,I saw on your IG account, you made the correction about Logan. He is American. A few of us Canadians were not pleased I see. 😀
Probably wont see any positive comments about the good fan meet-up. People will only call out the negatives. Good on ya for doing that
Jules didn't die at the track. He died 9 months after the crash.
Whilst technically you are correct, he really did die that day at the track
Kym adds "mistakes" like this to encorage engamenet. it's all a grift.
@@DarioDarrownot really a mistake, think he just needed to do more research. Or just a simple mistake
@@maxrigby8766not really a thing you need to research everyone knows what happened
rip bozo
Amazing to see the fans come out!!!
Although he had his horrible crash there that ultimately lead to his passing, Jules has not actually died in Suzuka, but in Nice.
Of course, yes
Thankful I did not get up in the middle of the night to watch FP2. Turned on the DVR first thing when I did wake up and, well, all I can say is let's hope FP3 and Qualifying is better. Love the track. Oh, and Kym, you are getting to be quite the celebrity. Enjoy Japan and I will look forward to your next video.
They sell a specific photographers ticket for f1, which grants access to a few special areas around the track. As an amatuer, Suzuka is a great track as you can shoot over the fence!
Glad you enjoyed my hat!!
It was a delight to see
Logan is driving a write-off, he is a brave guy trying.
Yeah, considering they had to repair that car since Melb and now he has to use it
Hey, Cannon user here as well! To be fair I have only owned two of theirs and I am kind of stuck on the EF-M glass until I decide to fork out for the converter... which I really should but find it hard to doll out the cash due to other hobbies taking up my spare income.
Camera policy at races are inconsistent. I have an APS-C Fuji and was able to bring it to Spain and Singapore but was not allowed in Las Vegas b/c it had an interchangeable lens.
Fuji has an APS-C camera? I thought they were micro 4 3rds.
the detachable lens rule is pretty common for major events in America… I haven’t been able to attend an event where they’ve allowed fans to bring their big cameras unless they have a media pass
@@emilygonzalez1568 I have only been prevented from entering 1 event with my camera. It was U2 in Worcester 1983. I came back and got in with my 135mm lens in my crotch, I had my Olympus body in my arm pit. I went right through that time to the 10th row. 😛 I was in the 2nd row in New Haven a couple nights before with no hassle.
@@413TomaccoRoad Fuji does aps c and medium format. OM System and Panasonic does micro 4/3
@@EatonZ26 Thanks. I could have sworn they had micro 4/3 also.
All in the name of 'sustainability' they ruin their own product by no longer allocating a free set of inters if it rains on Friday.
Any chance William now swapping back chassis for each driver?
Shots with the cherry blossom in the foreground are very pretty, to make it better I would close the diaphragm and give it a longer exposure time to have a better depth of field so the blossoms would be focused as well as the subject you're aiming at.

So much for F1 spectacle. Teams can’t go out because they don’t have enough sets of wet tyres due to F1’s environmental moves. Quite pathetic.
Great seeing you do a meet and greet!!!
The loveliest people
Weird that LH didn’t want to be photographed yesterday….really weird……
Nice toque Kym, I sport the same one. Thanks for supporting Vancouver.
Are they made in Vancouver?
@KymIllman Vancouver, Canada 🇨🇦, company. Not sure where they are manufactured. Nice stuff though.
I can understand that the fans were disappointed. When I had saved up my money to pay for travel, stay and admittance at an F1 circuit I too would be disappointed when the teams choose not to drive "because the circumstances are not what we need and we cannot learn anything".
Probably F1 needs to explain to the teams that the competition is not only about learning but also, and mainly, about making money by selling a product to the viewers.
Taking the money but not giving the product is surely going to disappoint some.
Was station in Northern Japan with the USNavy and really enjoyed the Cherry Blossoms.
That's not the worst tale of disappointed F1 fans. I've forgotten what year it was but the race at Spa was held earlier in the year and a new track had been laid that allowed the water to run off easier. They had practice sessions (there may have been a qualifying session on the Friday back then) but the track broke up really bad due to the warmer weather and the F1 race was either delayed or cancelled.
I had a mate from Melbourne fly in for that race via the USA where he did watch some air races at least. He never got to see the race in Spa.
My first trip to Spa was 1989 and the rain on Sunday was really heavy. In the warm up session in the morning a number of cats spun off. I had a gore tex jacket on and my pockets were filling up with water and I wasn't putting my hands or anything else in the pockets. The race did go ahead at least.
Those cherry blossoms are amazing
Thumbnail is correct but the title has a spelling error
Absolutely love your coverage of F1 mate! Keep it up!
Thanks a ton!

2nd day Lewis had clothes he was being paid to promote that’s why he allowed photos
Lewis is gay
It’s all he does it for.
Who noticed Bono walking across at 5:34
You are definitely the most informative person behind the scene in F1
Thanks
Hi Kym from South Africa again , I don't think u know how much we appreciate these videos of yours and I share the shit out of them hahaha but also YOU are fast becoming a F1 THINGY and well which means a celebrity just by these fans flocking around u wow and to have there photo taken by u wow wow and for me as a photographer ( still shooting in 2 X 6DMK2 Canon upgrading soon to the R6MK2 ) it's so informative and helpful your videos so that KS again
You certainly hope that people are watching them and enjoying the content, so it’s nice to get confirmation here
Jules Bianchi did not die at that spot! He died almost a year later in hospital.
Yes,
enjoy your race week end guys, race should be fun, especially with the weather.
Pretty sure I met Kim on a flight from U.K. to Sydney. A very interesting professional photographer shared amazing photos with me.
I like how Gasly' parents and Tsunoda's parents are friends
Key Kym can you ask the Canon folks when we should expect the R5mkII? :)
Late this year
I have never seen so many high-end lenses at any F1 event
I had it on in the background and nobody hit the track till 3 minutes to go
R I P Jules ❤
May the good LORD have mercy on his soul, definitely gone to soon
I looked away at the end and thought it was Tyson fury telling me to stay passionate
Kym, have you ever thought about, or do you already have a book that just features driver crashes? I'm sure the opportunity to get those pictures can be somewhat rare. But maybe over a period of time you could have a collection of crashes/post crash pictures. I don't think it would come off as a bad book, as its something that is very serious and could show the high risk that these drivers put themselves through every single time they go out on track. I would love to see a book like that sometime.
No book yet but thanks for the idea - for now I have a 'crashes' album www.prostarpics.com/p145318514
@@KymIllman This is a great start, and I look forward to seeing that book some day!
Kym, appreciating your volume of work this year, your enthusiasm for F1 and your content and therefore our engagement is plain to see, keep it up as long as you can
I appreciate that!
I was SO hoping the sakura would still be blooming when the circus came to town!
3:13 Ok at this point Sainz to Redbull is confirmed 🔥
Old tyre rules were better, needs to be reinstated I think
Its practice...
That's like turning up to football training and then complaining theres no action
I would demand my money back. I’d be so pissed sitting in the rain looking at cars in the garage and they call these drivers professional.
The shots are so good
5:26 Yuki looks a lot like his mom!
Pretty worthless FP2 today.
You can tell Japan is camera companies homeland.
So I can go to Montreal to get a free sensor cleaning for my D7100 and D610? 😅
Yes you can if you’re in the Media centre
What do you do for an umbrella ?
Thanks Kym, don't think I've seen you in any hat different than your bucket hat.
Love the bucket hats too! Be great to have one from each circuit.
Sushi Tsunodoa father, Sashmi Tsnunoda.
Did Pierre bring his parents to meet Yuki's parents? 😂
They have spent time together at races in the past
Good that there still are cherry blossoms at the circuit there.
Here in the Netherlands they are long gone. They blame it to climate change, it used to be blossom season in early may but now it is more like early march.
Lewis is such a Diva
Now I've got to get me a Herschel Beanie 😁
Toque, not a beanie. It's from Canada. Lol.
@@lances6512 as it’s currently in Japan it’s a 帽子 😂
Yea. F1 is a great success nowadays. 🤢 We went full American. Just make it some wild crazy bling show around the track and we all act like we are over the moon of excitement. Maybe some fake cheering over the announcement system and we are all golden 😫
They should mandate laps in practice teams can run intermediate tyres for at least one quick lap on damp track...
No..
@@davidjensen6742 If it rains they will have data on track they are there for a show still same regulations next year...
The track wasn’t suited for Inters nor for Softs, damp but not wet is an issue at every track. Heavy rain also means no laps. Its simply an outdoor sport
@@gerardcrabb4556no. This was DAMP and none of the data would be usable.

Will Kym reply for the second day in a row🫣
I don’t think so
Jules died from a severe case of stupidity. He was simply driving too fast in a yellow flag zone in very poor conditions. Apparently didn't have the brains to slow down in a car that was going to finish at the bottom of the standings anyways. The result? He scrambled them.
