  • For our anniversary, we went to Osaka and watched the F1 Race at Suzuka Circuit! Plus as a surprise on the way down to Osaka, Zeb planned an overnight stay in an onsen hotel on Lake Biwa, with a kaiseki dinner! Such a good surprise :)
    Also, we found out how NOT to get to Suzuka Circuit from Osaka...

    Wow the electronic boards and lights alongside the river just seem so surreal at night. Also, its a shame the race got cut short. Hope you get to see it another time

      Yeah they were so cool the way they reflected off the water! And yeah it was a bummer - but still very cool to see qualifying and a couple race laps :) thank you!

    Thanks for the guide Annie! Well made and super informative. I'm coming to the Japanese GP this year and also booked our accommodations in Osaka. Like you, I'll only be attending the Qualifying and Race sessions since I've been to other GPs before. I'm staying near Osaka Namba Station and was wondering if you can give more comprehensive tips on how to get to the circuit from there. Which trains to book and the best time to leave if I want to catch the 2PM qualifying session.

      Thanks for watching! Like I mentioned, I would suggest taking the Kintetsu Limited Express from Osaka Namba. It's not a JR train, so that's why we initially had trouble finding it because we were in a JR station. Here's that railway's website: www.kintetsu.co.jp/foreign/english/about/limited_express/. We took this line to the Tsu Station, and then changed to the Ise Railway line and went to the Suzuka Circuit Ino stop. At Tsu Station if you're not sure which train to get on, you should be able to ask the information desk for directions to the circuit, since most people at Tsu Station that day will be going to the same place I would imagine :) It takes a couple hours to get there so if you don't want to be rushed I would probably leave in the morning, 8am if possible. I wouldn't leave Osaka later than 10am, because of the time it takes to walk to your circuit seats and check in once you get to the final train station, in addition to the train travel time.

    Great notes on the train trip! We purposely are staying in Osaka and going to the race via train. We will for sure buy tickets in advance to avoid departure lines. Thanks!

      Thank you! How exciting! I would have booked our hotel earlier so we could stay closer to Suzuka, rather than in Osaka. It wasn't too bad going to and from Osaka each day, but not a great use of time. Fingers crossed this year is a dry race for you!

      Thank you! I think it was section G? Honestly can't remember the exact section, but based on this map www.suzukacircuit.jp/en/course/ I'm pretty sure that was it. You can walk/sit anywhere in that West Area though which was really nice to have so many options.

    Thank you got this video. Will be in the grand prix this weekend and this help me a lot with my research since we are staying in Osaka as well. One question though, since you purchased limited express ticket to reserve your seats, how did you forecast the time od departure from TSU going back to OSAKA. I'm afraid that we might missed our train since we might stuck in suzuka ino station due to the crowd.

    • @AnniewhereAndEverywhere
      @AnniewhereAndEverywhere  Месяц назад

      How exciting that you'll be there! If i remember correctly, the ticket didn't have a specific seat, so it was the kind we could use at any time that day. I think Shinkansen tickets are the only ones that you can reserve a seat with a specific time, so the train to and from Tsu shouldn't need an exact time and would be valid for the whole day. I would check to make sure this is still the case but I think that's what we did - we bought the return ticket right after arriving at the circuit, in anticipation of returning sometime that afternoon/evening.

    Great video! Did you have to get your F1 tickets delivered to your hotel? We have just brought some and that was the only delivery option, so am a bit curious as to how it works 😊

    • @AnniewhereAndEverywhere
      @AnniewhereAndEverywhere  Год назад +1

      Thank so much! I'm not sure how it would work for a hotel, but maybe you would pick them up in the lobby once they're delivered? For us, we had them delivered a month ahead to our residence, and paid the delivery man in cash for the small delivery fee (I think it was less than 500 yen as we had already paid for the tickets themselves ahead of time, but if we hadn't already paid for the tickets we would have had to also pay for those in cash). How exciting that you're getting tickets for this season's race!!

      Thanks for watching! We actually just got the train tickets from the station the day before, but in the future I would probably book ahead - maybe a week in advance? You can reserve on Eki Net or buy ahead at any JR station with the ticket machines or at a counter - I think up to a month in advance. Have fun!

    Great informative video Annie!! When you guys purchased your reserved tickets back from the circuit at the end of the day (6:59), did you guys do that online? I wanna save myself as much time as possible returning back to Tokyo Sunday night 😅

    • @AnniewhereAndEverywhere
      @AnniewhereAndEverywhere  2 месяца назад +1

      Thanks for watching! Good question - Its probably possible to do online, but we actually went ahead and got return tickets in person, right there at Tsu Station when we arrived that morning. Since everyone was excited to arrive and walk straight to the circuit, the purchasing line wasn't long then. The thing that took the most time for the return trip later that night wasn't actually waiting on tickets, it was waiting on space in the train 😅 Maybe they'll run more trains this year, but only so many people could fit in the train cars at once, so we had to wait 45 minutes for the next train to arrive. Of course Tsu Station where we were isn't the only option, just worked best for us getting back to Osaka - Hope this helps & have fun!

    A nice video . Good information..I would need some more information please..I am going for the Japanese Grand prix s this April. I would need your help regarding train bookings. So i am traveling from Kyoto to Nagoya on the JR line which is simple but from Nagoya i m confused.. Which train did you take from Nagoya to the race track?
    When you mentioned it was a 20 min walk to the track from the stations , which station was this ? I am only able to to find Shiroko station which is an hours walk . Thank you.

      hello and thanks for watching! We got off and walked from Suzuka Circuit Ino. I think you have to make a transfer at Tsu station. So, you would probably take the Kintetsu Limited Express from Nagoya to Tsu, and then the Ise Railway to Suzuka Circuit Ino. There might be a direct Kintetsu train to Suzuka Circuit Ino station, but I don't think it saves much time either way. Hope that helps!

    hi! great video :) May I know which ticket did you buy?

    • @AnniewhereAndEverywhere
      @AnniewhereAndEverywhere  Год назад

      Thank you! We had the general admission tickets, I think for the "West Area". On the ticket website it looks like those might not go on sale for 2023 until this July, but they were a pretty affordable way to see the race. You don't get a specific seat, but there was plenty of room on the grassy hill area, especially if you arrive early. I would bring a camping chair or picnic blanket to sit on if you get those tickets :)

    hi im a non ticket holder and is there any things to do outside the circuit or are all attractions like the food stalls and merch inside? is there any way to view the race from outside? or like can you buy on the spot tickets?

      hello! I don't remember there being a way to buy tickets on the day of - there may be people standing outside trying to sell their spots last minute but I wouldn't count on it. As for things to do in the area, unfortunately there was not a lot. All the food, drinks, and merch were inside the circuit. They asked to see our ticket as we walked into the circuit and there didn't seem to be a view of the race track from outside. Hope that helps

      @@Celina-ww7jj How exciting!! I think we arrived mid-morning, or maybe around noon. If we hadn't been commuting from Osaka I would have wanted to arrive earlier in the morning, but honestly there was so much room in the West Area so it didn't end up mattering too much. If the weather had been nicer I probably would have gone in the morning, packed a lunch, and had more time to find a spot and settle in without being rushed. I also would have brought a folding chair or something better to sit on :)
