This is one of the most dutch video's i've seen. You've got it all, Bikes, great public transport, sunset at the beach, the dunes, beer, the sun, the rain with all the quickly changing weather and especially gezelligheid with friends!
More F1 content please. Vincent and Sinan are great. As a Dutchie it prides me you guys enjoyed the scooter ride through the beautiful dunes so much. Realy puts it in perspective how good we have it and like Sinan said; enjoy every minute of life!
It is really impressive. I was there, taking the train to and from the track. To get there it wasn't that bad. There was maybe 30 mins extra time added due to lines and waiting. But going back was a whole other story. We waited 3 hours after the race ended and still ended up waiting for an additional 2hrs in lines to get to the train station. So it wasn't that great for the commuters. Although massively helps with co2 emmisions I guess..
@@xKumata It certainly helps with the space. A lot of things here simply couldn't happen with car dependency and the Zandvoort GP is just one of the most obvious examples.
@@xKumata Also having so many cars in a town that isn't built like an American suburb it is going to create problems, trains are definitely a beter option, we just need to upgrade that railway line with etcs and grade separations so we can operate S- bahn like services during the grandprix, higher capacity non lever boarding trains would also help.
Now you have to host your German friends on your continent for an F1 race, perhaps Las Vegas? So great seeing them again. And what an awesome weekend it turned out to be. You are completely right. Make the most out of life and see as much as you can.
The Dutch makes that right, no car can go in the city. The city has a perfect public transportation so you dont need a car. In the Netherlands you use bicycle not cars they have a perfect bicycle line network.
The town of Zandvoort is very small and allowing regular cars to enter would've completely clogged the roads (it has limited entry routes). Thus this was also the only viable option
Meanwhile Singapore's GP is held in downtown as a street circuit so there're extensive road closures, with 50-80 public bus services (20-30% of the country's total) having to be diverted away from there, so nearby roads can get jammed, & diverted buses will have their next bus arrival time announcement service disabled (at least for part of their route). However a new subway line that opened in the area in 2010 did improve the area's accessibility (but 1 of its stations used to be closed during the race as it lies completely within the ticketed area). For this year's race I also saw shuttle buses being arranged to bring Paddock spectators from the National Stadium just outside downtown
9:31 I love how all the locals are joining in on the fun and having little pop up bars and food stops! Reminds me SO much of hometown for the KY Derby!
Way, way back in the 1990's I went from my home country of Ireland to the 1997 French Grand Prix. Met a Canadian F1 fan who came over to France for the race. We hung out for the weekend, and we met up again in Canada at the Grand Prix in Montreal in 1998, it was fun!
This looks like such a fun, memorable experience with your new friends. You documented it exceptionally well, with your amazing positivity as usual. Keep up the great work sharing all the fun things you get to experience.
Glad you enjoyed visiting NL and apart from all great race related content, great you enjoyed our cycling infrastructure! Those paths through the dunes are some of my favourites (especially on quieter days of course 🙂). Today I did a commute (53 km in total) and realised over 90% was on segregated bike paths, with only a small portion on shared roads
Also I have to add: at 10:15 you mentioned expecting partying Dutch folks and you didn't see it yet: that is because there is an area of grandstands called the Arena, and it has a stage, all the partying action etc. happened there. I was there on the Friday and spent 90% of the day dancing and having fun. I am glad you enjoyed yourself. Should you ever need a tourguide, hit me up! (Being a local comes with perks ;-) )
I was there at that race with my Dad on the other end of the pit straight by turn 1. It really was such an amazing atmosphere. Honestly, the rain just made it better. I will always remember the rain suddenly pouring in as the 5 red lights are going up at the start of the race. I could hear the excitement rise as people realized rain was pouring in and all the teams put on dry tires to start the race.
Zandvoort was on my bucket list of F1 races I'd want to go to because it looks like such a party before, but being able to ride into a race like that from outside the city just might make it that much more fun. I probably wouldn't be able to go this route because no license, but even just a bike or a lower class of e-scooter would be amazing to ride into Zandvoort and watch F1 live.
No worries, for most of these bikes you don't need a license. The Dutch infrastructure is largely dedicated towards safety for bikers, so you won't have too many problems adapting. At most points, unless clearly signed, cars have to yield to bicycles. If you're still feeling unsafe, there's dozens of ways to use public transport into Zandvoort. You'll be just fine. 😅
Honestly your point about the weather is so true! I've done 12 F1 races now, and I can tell you that come rain or shine, it's the spirit of the fans which makes it all worth it! I've done heatwave conditions, I've done rainstorms, and weather (whilst sometimes annoying!) never has put a dampener on my experience. In fact, I clearly remember dancing along in the lashing rain at Silverstone for the last 2 years - not giving a care in the world about the fact we were getting soaked. It's not about how you f1, it's about who you f1 with!
Im going to Zandvoort every year even when theres no F1 race (tickets to f1 are too expensive for me) but they do host alot of racing events on the circuit so its always worth it. Beautiful city, beautiful atmosphere, the beach is absolutely stunning. I was smiling throughout the entire video because its so relatable, im so glad you had a great time there and you guys were able to see the real deal live! Ulm is not even that far from me so I most likely even take the same route to Zandvoort as you guys did. Simply simply lovely.
Dude your videos are so awesome, your energy and happy approach to things makes them so so fun! Your F1 travel videos are definitely my favorite. I hope more to come before the end of the season or next season 🙌🏼 Thank you for the amazing content bro 🙌🏼
First year we stayed in Noordwijk as well.. Except we're dutch so we went by bike, and we drank beer like our lives depended on it. So we had to cycle back, without lights on our bikes through the dunes being druk AF.. haha but it was enjoyable. Last year we stayed in Amsterdam and This year we stayed in Haarlem which is a perfect commute by train.
This was such a great video Mike. I clicked for the F1 but enjoyed your story even more. A great message to be more adventurous for us all. Thanks for making this.
When I started watching this channel about trains and sustainability in NA I never expected that my guilty pleasure of F1 would somehow overlap with it but I am happy it did.
I don't know if you ever struggle with video ideas but I think me and a lot more of your subscribers can just watch you going to places in the world and that's it. Don't sweat it too much. As long as you fill it up with your genuine and heartwarming energy we will watch it with joy! And one of your episodes you should go to see Hungary finally. We have lots of trains and metros and trams and whatever you usually ride.
Very very nice video! Myself was cycling whole weekend from Haarlem to Zandvoort and In your video I feel the same as what I experienced. This weekend was better then last year, the rain and all was perfect!
I recently just went to the Austin GP. Now as you said, going to the race is probably not the best way to keep up with the race itself, but it’s about the energy there and the experiences. Austin was a lot of fun, I can’t imagine imagine what it must have felt like with all the Dutch energy! I’ll be planning on making a trip to Zanvoort for the race next year…
You not only go for the race, you should always go for the adventure! Even when we had bad vacations, they were still an adventure....and awesome stories!
FYI the trains to Zandvoort usually go there on a frequency of around 2-4 trains an hour. For the F1 race this goes up to 12 trains an hour to meet the demand. According to the NS to meet the demand of about 10k people per hour by train.
What a fantastic video to bring back amazing memories! This was my first live race weekend too and the weather just made it even better. I was miserable and an incredibly happy panda at the same time, truly some of the best days ever. And while I’ve been to the Netherlands a lot cycling to the track was amazing too, I used the same route as you but started a bit closer to the track so had a bit of a shorter commute but even here the rain somehow made it more fun as everyone was getting wet and still having fun. It was also fun seeing the bike paths I’ve used countless times before in your video 😂
I heared 3 days before the dgp that there were 2 tickets left and not sold. So we got tickets for way cheaper then normal. It was deff one of the best experiances ever

Only thing you missed imo was the Heineken pit street in Zandvoort. It was 1 big street with bars and cafes outside. So much fun after each day at the track!
Wow what an amazing experience!! Can’t believe you just rode up and saw Yuki coming out of a helicopter. The whole race weekend looked like so much fun despite the weather. Zandvoort is such a unique track. I’d love to watch the Dutch Grand Prix in person one day!

It's amazing that you've watched F1 with senan and vincent again. I will keep watching for more F1 vlogs from you. It's like you're the first one with good content of f1 grandprix👏
Ha! Crazy to see! I'm the DJ of the Orange Army, as well in Bahrain in the beer garden as well in Zandvoort as the track DJ. I was at the Arena, but i'm sure you've seen me (and heard me ;)) at the screens. Nice video!
That’s awesome! You created the perfect party vibe, even in the rain. I’ll have to be in the arena next time. Are you going to Bahrain again next year?
Can you imagine? Back in the late seventies, we were on vacation in IJmuiden. And as a little boy we walked through the sanddunes to the circuit of Zandvoort. About 8 to 10 kilometers. And then we sneaked on to the circuit through the barbwire fences. And watched the races for free. That was possible back then. We always went to the camping "de Duindoorn", in IJmuiden. Maybe a good tip for the next time. You can rent a cabin there in advance, and is probably cheaper. Greetings from the Netherlands.
Really awesome to see another F1 vlog 🙂! Keep up the good content! Like I've said in your previous vlogs; I really want to see you go to every race and vlog it, haha. I wish a team could sponsor you with travel and VIP-pass and all that for *all* races for a reason. Any team can definitely afford it and it would be good PR for them too.
I can't believe that you were there! After buying my tickets to the Dutch GP, I watched your Bahrain video because it was going to be my first GP and just like you I went alone... it's amazing wish I had bumped into you though it is impossible to find anyone in that crazy crowd 😅
Just started watching your channel. Absolutely solid stuff bro! Like you, I’m also in trains, F1, and a fellow Canuck!! Loved your private jet video so much fun to watch. What I like most about your videos is that it’s not all about the destination but your focus on the journey- meeting new people, experiences. So cool to watch. Keep up the awesome work and wish you all the success 🤙🤙
Funny... That Saturday I travelled to Germany and back from the Netherlands by train and it was unusually slow because so many trains had been diverted to Zandvoort! I did manage to stay dry though 😅
Looks like an awesome experience. Hope to see you in Vegas in a few weeks! And yes, I totally agree that I could watch that race for free from my house, but it'll be my first-ever F1 race live with one of my best friends, and sometimes it's all about the experiences you have rather than money spent. Could not agree more on that.
This trip is yours. I see your hidden drive and energy on full display. You still have a unique personality of being smiling and cheerful. Plus, racing events are full of people and challenges in new ways of gathering together. This trip, I really feel full of energy with you. You did a great job with this video my love...💖
well I can say that I have been to Zandvoort............... we were on a river cruise in Amsterdam, then we had 2 nights there, so hubby wanted to go to Zandvoort......... so we caught the train there went for a walk along the beach and then checked out the shopping............. but didn't go to the race track, we were abit to far to walk there... this Vvlog is awesome thanks you.
Another surprise! I never know where you'll show up next. It often rains a little every day in the Netherlands, especially near the coast where small storms just blow in for a bit. Everyone seemed to be having fun despite that.
Nothing beats seeing a race live…and nothing beats making awesome F1 friends at the track…a few of my really good friends i actually made at a track on the other side of the world from where i live (australia)…the distance is great but the friendships are greater 😊
It very much feels surreal to me to see footage of Mike and his friends traveling on roads that I take daily, seeing as I live, like, 3km away from the circuit, haha
It’s so wholesome watching you making friends with people you met at the first race of the season
First you went to Bahrain, and here in the Netherlands that's the best way to explain the typical Dutch weather: BAH! RAIN!
Helps that Mike's a Vancouverite. Vancouver and rain go hand in hand.
interestingly enough, BAH literally means flood in Malaysian haaha

Are you going to Bahrain again next year?
Yes, thinkso!@@DownieLive
Same! I’ll see you there!
I watched the whole thing just wanted to hang out with you guys... that was fun!
That was fun to watch you enjoyed yourself with your new friends even with all the rain
Nice ro see this energie by the race , good that you did have a good time . Next time the weather will be better . 👍✌️
Watched you on boats, trains and now in our small country! What a treat! 👏🏆🇳🇱
Welcome to the Netherlands! I guess the weather gave you a lovely welcoming
Yes! Thank you!
This is truly a moment that cannot be bought, I feel comfortable and cold looking at it, as soon as I can catch up and participate!! 🍃
Funny... That Saturday I travelled to Germany and back from the Netherlands by train and it was unusually slow because so many trains had been diverted to Zandvoort! I did manage to stay dry though 😅
Your new friends are good travel people, they adjust quickly!!!
Just finished your Bahrain video and watching this next. It's so nice you get to enjoy it with newfound friends. So exciting!
I love how you guys kept your word & said you'd meet again at a race in Europe!!!
This trip is yours. I see your hidden drive and energy on full display. You still have a unique personality of being smiling and cheerful. Plus, racing events are full of people and challenges in new ways of gathering together. This trip, I really feel full of energy with you. You did a great job with this video my love...💖
The three of you should travel to the Canadian GP 😂 would make for a cute reunion video
well I can say that I have been to Zandvoort............... we were on a river cruise in Amsterdam, then we had 2 nights there, so hubby wanted to go to Zandvoort......... so we caught the train there went for a walk along the beach and then checked out the shopping............. but didn't go to the race track, we were abit to far to walk there... this Vvlog is awesome thanks you.
Another surprise! I never know where you'll show up next. It often rains a little every day in the Netherlands, especially near the coast where small storms just blow in for a bit. Everyone seemed to be having fun despite that.
We were there too , the best place to watch F1 , zandvoort was literally 🔥
More F1 content man my favorite videos, you just show so much into it and I wish you went to every race
So nice to see how things a like at my home gp i had half an idea it was this big
It actually set a few more records like most pit stops in a race, most pit stops in a race by a driver and most pit stops by a winning driver.
Oh that's so cool! I had no idea!
Nothing beats seeing a race live…and nothing beats making awesome F1 friends at the track…a few of my really good friends i actually made at a track on the other side of the world from where i live (australia)…the distance is great but the friendships are greater 😊
Love it bro! Living the dream!!
Love so much that you met up with your German buddies!!!! You have to bring them out to Montreal for the race next year!!!!
It very much feels surreal to me to see footage of Mike and his friends traveling on roads that I take daily, seeing as I live, like, 3km away from the circuit, haha
I love rain so I am so jealous. What a race what a time for you!
