You are totally right, I believe those parchment liners have really saved me many many times from cake catastrophes. Thank God for whomever invented them. I love baking and ingredients are too expensive to have a cake fall apart on you or even stick to the bottom of your pans…

I'm not exactly opposed to it, but I do design my recipes to be perfectly moist without the need for syrup. I have several filling options on my blog 😊
This recipe looks too good. I have 2 questions. 1. Can I substitute the sour cream with yogurt 2. I want to bake this cake on a 10-inch heart-shaped pan. Do I have to tweak the ingredients? Please let me know.
I honestly haven't tried it. It would take some testing to make it work. There would need to be some alterations made that I just can't foresee without trying it. If you do try it I would love to know what you do and how it goes. :)
I have never made a cake in my life. I like cake, but since it is only me I would need a reason to make one for someone else. And my step daughter makes amazing designer cakes that are out of this world. But she lives 600 miles away. That is a bit of an issue. lol I basically watched this cause it's you and I know it helps, just like these comments help. 😀

@SugarSpunRun I have two more questions if that's ok! I want to triple the recipe to make this a three layered cake but I have only two cake pans. Is it OK to leave the batter out, with a cover on, while the two cakes bake and then put the third layer in after they're both done? My second question is can I use avocado oil in place of vegetable oil?
I often use vegetable oil in this cake, which primarily is soybean oil. I’ve never had a problem with it or had anyone complain of the taste so you should be just fine ☺️

Can I mix in the eggs one at a time for better incorporation? I always love to do this with cakes but I also do not want to overmix the batter. :)
Look into seed oils. “Vegetable” and canola oils.

Is Greek yogurt available to you? That would work too.

What do you do with the extra icing?
I typically don't have extra icing, but if I do I like to add some decorative swirls on top. :)

What size pans did you use ? Can I use 2
7 inch pans with this recipe?
I used 2 8 inch pans. You may have a little too much batter for 7 inch pans.
Can you use soybean oil? Some people say it doesn't taste good in baked goods.
